My bestie and I were headed to a show at the Dolby Theatre and wanted a good dinner spot beforehand, so we decided on Superba. I had been there years ago for brunch and remembered loving the outdoor patio and overall vibe, so I figured it was finally time to try dinner. We had a 5:45 reservation and they seated us right away. They knew we had a show to get to, which we really appreciated. The hostess was super sweet, and we ended up seated by this cute little fireplace area that made the whole experience feel cozy and elevated. We started with glasses of sparkling and ordered the smoked trout dip with bread -- absolutely fantastic. Then we shared the kale salad, which was huge and really delicious. For mains, we had the steak frites and the grilled hen of the woods mushrooms. The au poivre sauce on the steak was incredible, and the steak itself was cooked perfectly. Also, as someone who holds a grudge against shoestring fries... these fries were great. Crispy, substantial, and exactly what steak frites fries should be. The mushrooms were another standout! Deeply savory with this dark soy glaze that paired so well with everything else on the table. For dessert, we ordered the banana tarte tatin with butter pecan ice cream and oh my god... it was to die for. I had honestly never even heard of a tarte tatin before, but this completely won me over. Served warm with caramelized bananas and that buttery pecan ice cream melting into everything -- it was a dream. Our server was attentive and helpful throughout the meal, and overall it was such a great experience. Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and great service. Superba Food + Bread has 5 locations around LA but this Hollywood is like a hidden garden gem. The patio is so darn cute and even used for movies & shows sometimes - a friend of mine filmed this week there! It's truly a beautiful space and feels so relaxing when dining there. I had dinner with a friend here and we loved everything we had. Service was the perfect level - kind but not over~the~top, checking in just the right amount, making sure we were well taken care of. Clean bathrooms, too, haha! Now the drinks and eats! I absolutely loved my Pecan Cold Brew (6.50) and was surprised to see such an option at dinner! It was perfect. My friend had the beautiful Ginger Thyme Lemonade ($6.50) which was also just delicious. I highly recommend everyone try their 'Selection of freshly baked breads with all 4 spreads' for $29 if it's your first visit in. It's a filling starter of a few of their breads (the pre-buttered & chives topped charred levain was exquisite as is - no notes!) and a few of their toppings. My personal favorite of the toppings was the fresh cheese with honey & salsa macha - our server said it was their favorite, too - but there wasn't a bad topping in the lot. Butter + Salt was simple but lovely. The Charred Eggplant spread was sweet in a good way with walnuts and pomegranate molasses. The smoked trout was nice to have a meaty option with smoked onions mixed in, topped with roe. We had the Bluefin Tuna Carpaccio ($27) starter which was light but beautiful with meyer lemon, chives, sea salt, and sourdough crisps. Everyone recommended me the Fried Brussels Sprouts ($15) before I went and y'all were right! They come lightly fried with red flame grapes, walnuts, and pecorino cheese all mixed on the plate Fell in love with Superba Food + Bread and can't wait to go back. This place was so cute! Loved the grand entrance that takes you into the patio dining. You'll have to walk around to get to the host, where you'll end up at the indoor dining area. It was such a nice day when we went so we opted to wait 20 mins for patio seating. I wasn't sure what was the best items here but I opted for the lox and schmear and it was just what I needed. Came in for lunch with a group of 6 on a Wednesday during DineLA. Since we made a reservation ahead of time, our table ready to go. We sat outside in the beautiful patio with plenty of share from the trees. Biggest challenge sitting outside during a February heat wave was the falling leaves and pollen on plates and in drinks. To start, I had the Fried Brussel Sprouts were yummy - the grapes added a nice sweetness and the pecorino gave the right hit of saltiness. My main was the Umami Salmon Bowl, which was a 9 out of 10, my salmon was done a bit too much on one side of the fish, but the glaze in it was delicious. The grilled broccoli added some smokiness, the pickled daikon added a crunch, and the kimchi added a spicy freshness. For dessert, I ordered the Butter Pecan Ice Cream with an amazing praline crunch. Came here on a Friday evening with a big group. We were able to grab reservations the day before which I was shocked, due to how cute the restaurant was! (However, it was raining quite hard that day.) Everything here was amazing! We did a family style kind of dining and everything was delicious! Also loved that they timed the appetizers first and asked us when we wanted the main dishes to come out. Returned to Superba for dinner and had a much better experience in the evening! Came here for an early birthday celebration for my partner and we shared the bread plate with the addition of "good salt and butter". The breads were fresh out of the oven and I particularly liked the one that was already buttered. I had the tagliatelle (vegetarian friendly) for my entree and my partner had the rigatoni bolognese. The rigatoni was al dente, which my partner enjoyed. We split a chocolate layer cake for dessert, which is definitely geared for chocoholics. We parked across the street and from the outside it doesn't look like much, but once you see all of the outside seating and how beautiful it looks inside, you will be impressed! Service was great! Okay I'm updated to four stars because my eggs weren't hot, just barely warm, when I tried the cheesy toast. AND the seasonal pumpkin pie is lackluster. Crust was soooo oily. Plus the filling was super mushy and I like my pumpkin pie to be slightly firm, just enough so that it holds shape when you cut it. Amazing vibes!!! I only went in for a to go order but the landscaping was so beautiful I wish I was able to sit down in the outdoor eating area to enjoy it more. They have a lovely outdoor patio with umbrellas with shade and an equally gorgeous indoors, where we sat. One downside of our experience were the flys during the earlier part of our meal. We ordered the turkey sandwich, chicken sandwich, and chilaquiles. The setting was more impressive than the food. The chilaquiles chips were already soggy and may have been sitting out before it was sent to the table because there was very little warmth to the dish. The chicken sandwich was underwhelming. The turkey sandwich did come with a generous portion of avocado. Over all I gave 3 stars, but if I were to break it down, it would look something like this: 5 stars for ambiance, 5 stars for service, 2 stars for quality of food and silverware. Came here before a concert at the Blue Note and had a nice overall experience. Our server was friendly and attentive, and I really enjoyed the look of the restaurant--it's modern but still cozy. The patio also looked like a great spot for summer days. I wasn't blown away by my food choice; I ordered a pasta dish and probably should've gone with a steak instead. Great atmosphere and staff. Large hidden venue that felt far removed from any hollywood grime you sometimes encounter in the area. The food and drinks were great - I got the omelette which I really enjoyed (was fairly simple with just goat cheese and chives but cooked really well and very tasty). Ok so apparently I'm on a streak of dining at places with awful service and last night was no exception. Shout out to our server Daniella M for setting the bar even lower for customer service. For context, I was meeting a friend for a quick bite and I arrived first. Once she got there, (mind you this was her first time at Superba, my second) Daniella didn't bother finding out this information though. Didn't ask how our night was going, if we were celebrating anything, didn't make menu recommendations just kind of half a**ing her way through her shift. And listen if you want to do that fine just don't get upset when I don't tip-customer service + gratuity are both optional honey. Anyway, before ordering Daniella didn't take the time to inquire if we had any allergies which is really, really wild. This is a standard, by the book question at any restaurant you go to so whoever trained her, let's run it back because our girl needs a couple of training shifts. Moving on, I ordered the rainbow trout that doesn't come with sides btw. And oh yeah Daniella didn't bother recommending I pair it with anything so I just ate two filets of fish, no sauce, no sides not even a damn lemon wedge. Halfway through the meal I wanted to order fries because I needed another flavor in my mouth but Daniella never asked if we wanted anything else. My friend ordered a Spanish latte and a slice of chocolate cake. Coffee was really good, however I've had better cake. Towards the end of the meal Daniella was so wrapped up with doing her side work she completely neglected her tables. This is not an exaggeration. I tried to get her attention to get the check for at least 20 minutes straight. Once she did bring us the check, the second to last nail in the coffin for me was her not asking how the meal was. Are you f*cking kidding me??????? I'm sorry are we trying to set a record for shi**iest employee of the month? Or? Anyway closed out our check and shout out to the 3% happy and healthy fee, glad someone is happy because it wasn't me. Ambiance - beautiful restaurant with a hip vibe. Although it is located in Hollywood, you'd never know. Once you enter the iron gate, you are transported to a private, serene, space. There is a wonderful large, outdoor patio in front surrounded by lush plants. The patio was empty when we arrived at around 9:30 am. By 11 am, the place was packed (inside and outside). I loved that the tables were spaced so that one can carry on a conversation without being heard by the people from the other tables. Service - was excellent. Server was attentive, cheerful and friendly. Food - we ordered avocado toast, roasted tomatoes, tuna melt sandwich, breakfast burrito and ham omelet with salmon on the side. We had coffee, hot chocolate and chai teas. I was disappointed with the tuna sandwich. They toasted the bread and it was hard. My hubby thought his omelet was just okay. My daughter, whose birthday we were celebrating chose this restaurant because it is her favorite. My younger daughter liked her breakfast burrito. I loved my hot chocolate and my hubby loved his coffee. My daughter ordered silver dollar pancakes with an almond honey syrup. It was delicious. Completely unexpected and tucked away right on Sunset. The patio is what you come for. It's quiet and secluded and you'd never know you're in the center of LA. That is after you find parking in the neighborhood or have to valet. Service was top notch. I got in early and waited 20 mins for my friend to arrive, but they were extremely accommodating and not pushy at all. Through the whole meal there was always somebody around but not overly intrusive or checking in too much. Food was delicious. The ginger thyme lemonade was a great start - fresh and unexpected. There's a good variety of entrees but we went with the green goddess salad and the superba grain bowl. Hidden gem. I've walked by countless times and wondered what was back there and what I discovered was an adorable, cozy utopia. The bread was insane. I also really enjoyed the gazpacho. As far as the steak treats, I have to say that the sauce wasn't my absolute favorite -- I prefer a little bit of a lighter, creamier rather than an earthier, darker sauce. That's my personal preference. I loved the fries, though. I sat outside in the garden and worked on my laptop and journaled. We had a perfect round table for the 3 of us, in the corner under shade trees and near the fountain. Mathew was our server and I absolutely loved him. He was real, funny, and on top of everything. Took my mother for brunch and here and was so pleasantly surprised. I have been to the original location in Venice and this location is just as good. They have a great indoor space as well as a wonderful large patio. Food and service were DELICIOUS! I tried their freshly squeezed orange juice and it was the best orange juice I've ever had. I got the cheddar and chive biscuit and that was good, but it needed to be served with the side of butter or some sort of sauce. I got the market green salad and it was OK. Once I got a extra side of green goddess dressing it was really good. My friend got the chicken sandwich and said that was amazing. We tried the cinnamon roll for dessert and the bottom was a little hard. I don't know if it was just because it was caramelized sugar at the bottom or if it seemed a bit stale or something. We ordered the tuna melt sandwich and it came with the cheese not melted at all, and the tuna fish was very watery and just dripping out of the sandwich. Parking is on sunset blvd and is a bit crowded. Fried chicken for 2 is a full load with string beans too. Half chicken and sea bass were generous portions expertly cooked.
