The Running Goose is so great. We love this place. It is moderate to fine dining. They have something for everyone. All of their food is great. The place is ever so cute and decorated nicely. I love the sign out front, but I forgot to snap a photo. It is super clean and well maintained. The service is lovely. The entire staff is nice. They will take care of you and check on you. They seem to like their jobs. Their salads are some of my favorites. I love their Kale salad and their Game lettuce salad. They have the best duck, ribeye and salmon. We are never disappointed. They also have wonderful sandwiches that you will love. Their mushroom cheese melt is great as is their Buttermilk Fried Chicken with fennel cabbage kimchi, poblano jam, cilantro, chipotle lime aioli, and ciabatta. These are lunch items. Some meals feed you. This one converted us. We walked into The Running Goose for an early lunch and left as devotees. Start with the "farm vegetables" carrots, yes, but carrots the way a poet means them. Sweet, blistered, singing. And then the aioli..... oh the aioli. Came for dinner on a Friday night before seeing a show at the Pantages. Wonderful little restaurant tucked away on Cahuenga. Service was incredibly fast and friendly- everything came out so quickly we ended up ordering desserts and hanging out to kill time before the show! I made a reservation for an hour before they close and we walked over and were seated relatively quickly. We asked for a seat with a heater nearby but they were full and didn't have one available. We sat and ordered our food and then they informed us a table opened up near a heater! We were quickly switched. The outside seating is cute with lights and a patio cover over the area. It's relatively small though in general so I can imagine on a busy night how packed it could get. We started with calamari, pork belly pincho and tostadas. The calamari was good but small portions. The pork belly pincho was amazing it had some tamarind sauce which had a bbqish flavor and it was soo tender but crispy on the outside. I just wish it came with more but we ended up ordering 2 of them. The other people in our party got their food first and I was waiting for my steak to come out but it came out undercooked like almost raw inside so I politely asked if they could send it back to fix it. As I was waiting for them to bring it back out I tried some of the duck and omg I wish I ordered that instead. The steak was underwhelming but oh god everything else was just immaculate. What a great find in Hollywood. The Running Goose delivered from beginning to end. The kale salad was amazing, followed by the pork belly pincho with a beautiful char. The duck was exactly how I like it: crispy without being burnt and packed with flavor. And then there was the Gringo Burger for my gringa, which she loved. We finished with the Pavlova, which was the perfect ending. Stopped by The Running Goose for a quick bite and it was such a good find. From the outside you could easily miss it, but once you walk in and head to the back patio, it's this cute outdoor space full of plants that gives total Italian vibe. This place was so good. I really loved the burger, the rosemary fries, and they have a great selection of drinks. My waiter was a foodie and he recommended a sour that was so good. There is both an indoor and somewhat outdoor area, so if you want something, a little quieter and high-end or more of a sports bar, they have both. I love the twinkly lights outside too. The strange thing about Running Goose is that I have now "stumbled across them" three times, so documenting my most recent experience on Yelp so that it doesn't happen again...because they are SO WORTH the intentional trip out for dinner or brunch. A rare mimosa deal, kind/fun staff, intentional wine list, a "secret garden" vibe, and deep, unique flavors make this so much more than a "let's stop in before our show at the Pantages" meal (...but it's also great for that!) The owner, Armen, is an absolute gem of a man and one of our guests recognized him as the previous owner of Green Street Tavern in Pasadena, where they had so many wonderful memories. I've ordered from here numerous times on Uber Eats- they do have good food. HOWEVER, my mom sister and I went to the actual restaurant yesterday and it was honestly a completely bizarre experience. The restaurant was basically empty, but the man who "served" us was so weird and rude... he was acting as if he was extremely busy and the way he was speaking to me from the moment I walked in was extremely rude and lowkey aggressive. I ordered sparkling rose and he brought me what looked like prosecco- I said is this rose? He literally acted like I came in there every day annoying him or something... it was truly strange. He insisted it was rose (it wasn't rose colored ) Anyway it wasn't the rose that was the problem, it was the way this weirdo was acting. It's hard to explain it bc it was so weird but I was SO UNCOMFORTABLE I insisted we leave. By the way, we'd been there for five minutes. We went to superba instead and it was such a better vibe. The baked : roasted Bree was very exciting as it was sizzling as it came to the table, but I really didn't enjoy either of the toast which was cracker consistency or the apricot jam.. the flavors were just not a good mix for me. The brie was totally melted and really there was not much flavor there. I had the wild boar hash and it really just tasted like regular pork. There was nothing spectacular about it although it was well done and the egg was good. My dining companion had the Chilaquiles. Easy 5 stars. I'm honestly shocked this place exists. The Running Goose is global comfort food done at a level you don't expect walking in. Started with the grilled brie -- wow. No idea what magic was going on there but it was insane. Then the smoked potatoes... that sauce was unreal, like spoon-it-straight addictive. The gambas came out sizzling with garlic, sweet cherry tomatoes, and perfectly cooked shrimp -- and that dipping bread... unreal, soaking up every drop. Then the mains... short rib and duck. Both ridiculous. The short rib was fall-apart tender with a sauce so good I was literally eating it by the spoon. The duck? Same story -- crispy, juicy, balanced, just dialed in. And honestly, once the food starts hitting like that, you already get excited for dessert because you know you're leaving satisfied. My friend and I came here for dinner before going to watch Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Hollywood Pantages Theater. I can't begin to tell you how happy I am that we ended up here for dinner. Everything, and I do mean everything, was so freaking delicious! The baked brie had that quintessential velvety texture while the apricot compote worked well to enhance and complement the flavors. The smoked beet quesadilla was described as cactus tortillas filled with queso, parm, and beets, topped with radishes and pepitas, and laid on a bed of basil crema - intriguing to say the least. And let me tell you, the dish was fantastic! The smoked beets were perfectly tender and paired well with the cheese and basil crema. And of course I can't live without spice so I added their housemade habanero sauce as a finishing touch. I came during lunch on a Saturday and it was not too busy. It's a hidden restaurant that I happen to find when looking for spots to eat before a show at the Pantages. I highly recommend coming here. The atmosphere is quiet, with a really nice outdoor spaced patio. We tried their Brie bread, lamp chops, burgers, and chilaquiles. All fantastic! Their lamp chops are appetizers so expect a small size but they were made very well with delicious sauces. I had a bad experience here. Perhaps it's a one time bad experience and I hope they figure it out. I ordered a ribeye medium rare. It came out well done and grey. I requested it to be more in line with medium rare and I was told that because the rib eye was such a thin cut they couldn't cook it medium rare. So they returned me a blue steak completely rare. Then I was told how I was wrong and thin cuts can't be made medium rare. At the end I just didn't eat anything and I paid $45 for inept cooking. Needless to say I won't return and I would recommend they either take the rib eye off the menu or figure out how to cook a thin steak somewhere between well done and blue. read more

The patio is beautiful and amazingly quiet for being so close to Cahuenga. The food is fresh, beautifully seasoned, and delicious. The menu is varied enough that it has options for vegetarians and vegans too.I've never been anything less than delighted with anything I've ordered. I thought I'd long ago written a review for this, my favorite local restaurant. I usually get the gnocchi--very distinctive (I think made from corn instead of potato) and so flavorful. But everything we've had here is interesting and delicious. We love the gazpacho, cod churros, baked brie, their array of tostadas, and much else.
