My family and I had tickets for a comedy show in the area so my brother thought "The Edmon" seemed like a cool place to try. The Edmon is located inside the Hollywood Historic Hotel near the Larchmont area. It is the kind of East Hollywood spot that feels effortlessly cool without trying too hard. Tucked inside the Hotel, it nails that sweet spot between old-school, LA glamour and modern neighborhood energy. The ambiance was wonderful. The restaurant was clean and the servers and host were awesome. The menu did not offer a huge amount of food but its the sort of place where dinner can easily turn into drinks, drinks can turn into "one more," and suddenly you're having a whole night. For dinner we had Wings, Short Rib Barbacoa Nachos, Garlic Fries and House Burgers. We also had a Ginger Margarita and Cucumber Daiquiri. Everything was delicious. I will definitely visit this restaurant again in the near future. The restaurant has complimentary valet parking with an entrance on Gramercy Place. The Edmon has that rare LA quality of making you feel like you stumbled onto somewhere in the know. Put it on your list of new places to try. read more

A classy bar. We sat at the bar for happy hour and were well taken care of by the bartender. Plenty of tables too if high tops aren't your preference. Drinks were 5 out of 5. Well crafted and they had a spotlight cocktail, which is their featured batched cocktail, I kept ordering. We also tried their cucumber daiquiri and tea's knees that were very refreshing. Food was 3 out 5. Just okay. We went with the short rib barbacoa nachos but they lacked meat and cheese. I did like that they came with avocado and pickled onions. The calamari's batter was thicker than expected and there was an inconsistency with the crispiness. The chips and salsa came with regular and blue corn thick tortilla chips and the green salsa was very good. They have a small parking lot and also offer valet. I saw The Edmon in a list of great happy hours in LA on Instagram. That's what brought me in. They have happy hour Monday-Saturday 4 pm- 7 PM. It's a beautiful bar, and it's laid out perfectly, and it has different kinds of seating. I like that they are spaced apart enough where you can have a nice conversation without hearing the people next to you. The service is great; both our servers were fantastic and helped create a nice experience. My expectations were high because of the raving review on Instagram. We tried three different HH food menu items. First dish, the short rib barbacoa nachos. $17. Best deal of the things we ordered. They were served lukewarm. not easy to divide and share, and I barely noticed any short rib, but there is some in it. Next, the duck confit tacos. $15. They were tasty, and they filled the small soft shell. They were pretty good. You get four of them. Perfect for sharing. I liked them the best of what we ordered. I was still hungry, so the last dish we shared was the asada fries.$13. They were cold. The cheese had solidified. I just cut chunks of the clunk and ate them with a knife and fork. Barely OK. For drinks, we had the old fashioned. $9. They use Old Grand Dad for the bourbon. The use of a big square ice cube is a nice touch. I love the crystal glasses they use! It's not a generous pour, but the price isn't bad. I also had a glass of sangria. $9. Very sweet, but nice and fruity. There's parking in the back, but it's tight. We found a spot. I think there's valet too if you need it. After 6:00 pm, there are some free spots on Melrose. I was there on a Tuesday night, and they had a good crowd. There was a group at a long table. I think it would be a great place for a group get-together after work or to celebrate something. Glad I tried it. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Both my friend and I agreed it was ok, but not something we'd do again. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with this restaurant for Valentines and he made a spectacular choice! Not only is the interior classy, beautiful, and warm, the patio is spacious and equally inviting with heat lamps and cushy booths. The servers were all incredible and very on top of their service, as I overheard our waitress switching between English and Spanish to the preference of each person at the table next to us. The menu is reasonably priced with great portion sizes, and everything was delicious. My boyfriend said this was one of if not the best burger he's ever had, we both agreed the peanuts were the star of the night!! My half chicken was savory and sumptuous, I can't wait to come back and try that gravy on the short rib poutine. Let's start with the oysters, 10/10 will refit recommend! I had a Porn Star Martini, about a 7/10. It was more lemony than I expected since I usually taste more passion fruit, but it was still yummy. Our favorite spot ever. Cucumber daiquiri is refreshing and our go to drink. Asada fries is so delicious & generous portion. I usually never order or like shrimp but their shrimp tacos are really good. It was definitely a surprise dish for me. Chorizo slider is favorite of my friend. Olive oil cake is so divine. This is a gorgeous bar located in the Hollywood Historic Hotel. (Like the word "authentic," I always raise an eyebrow when I see the word "historic" in any name.) The Edmon has a solid food and cocktail menu, including a few nice mocktail options. The charcuterie plate (which comes with both meats and cheeses) is very nice. It is worth ordering just to get the basket of crisps that comes with it. I could have eaten a thousand of them. While the decor is very upscale, this being Southern California, you will see customers dressed in all manner of clothes, from cheap printed t-shirts to more upscale cocktail attire. Also, sports fans may be disappointed to learn there are no televisions in this bar. There is plenty of freeeee valet parking in the lot behind the historic hotel so you have no excuse for not visiting. This is a great-looking, comfortable bar for cocktails and munchies. read more

We used this venue for a recent birthday and it was excellent! We had over 40 guests. Francois was extremely helpful before and during the event, and the staff were all very attentive. They also brought over our own water station and did individual checks for all our guests. We were pleased they also let us linger longer than planned. We chose The Edmon recently because we were in the area for a class. It was a great choice. The Edmon is a beautiful restaurant particularly if you're into old Hollywood. The service was excellent. We were greeted immediately and the waiter took our drink order promptly, provided water first. The food was also very good. We started with chips and guacamole, oysters. Both were excellent. Those were followed by duck confit tacos and the pasta dish. If I return I think I'll get that pasta, it was really terrific. Cocktails were also excellent. The space alone makes it a worth stop. We were looking for a spot before a show at the pantages and were glad we found this place. Happy hour is from 4-7 do arriving at 5:30 gave us plenty of good options. Oysters were fresh with two sauces, duck confit tacos were flavorful and the nachos had a hint of what tasted like mole. It is quite hard to miss the rich architecture of the building where The Edmon is. When you step in, it gives the Great Gatsby vibes. Art deco with geometric shapes and lines upon entering thru its doors, plush velvet soft seating at the tables, sleek and sophsticated bar area with soft lighting and great music. This place is perfect for after work drinks or a night on the town. We sat at the bar and were greeted by Frenchie. He was cool energy, singing and dancing as he served up some great drinks. We ordered their Spot light cocktail which was gin based (this cocktail changes each time) and old fashioned. Both were delicious. What a cool little spot! Came here before heading to the Pantages (which is only 2 miles away, great for getting a bite to eat or cocktail). They have a nice happy hour selection, from cocktails, beer and wine and shareable appetizers. Frenchie, our bartender was very helpful and when he stepped away, any of the other staff were happy to assist. He was also singing and dancing, which makes sense because their playlist was incredible. I had to SoundHound some songs for my own playlist. The food was delicious, we almost ended up ordering another plate of short rib nachos because they were so good! Topped with avocado and a side of green salsa, each nacho was full of flavor. I haven't seen any Downtown Brown on Draft anywhere, so I had to get it. They said they don't always carry it, so I was pleasantly surprised. We also tried their "Spotlight Cocktail" which changes from time to time. This time it was a Gin and Apricot concoction and I'd recommend it but I'm not sure if it'll be there when you go. But I always like trying things that aren't on the menu or seasonal just for an experience that I might have missed otherwise. We went on a Friday night and there were plenty tables but I recommend going to the bar since you get a good view of the place and can have interesting conversations with the bartenders and/or your neighbor. read more

This review is specifically for the bartender Francois. I ordered and tried to give him my card. He told me don't worry about it, I just owe him a beer. Asked him if I owed anything after sitting at the bar for a while. I brought it up as I thought it was unusual, and he acted surprised. I'm glad I didn't leave without mentioning it, as I was prepared to just leave a tip. He said he'd cash me out. I have no issue paying for myself, but what is he trying to pull? $9 Cocktails for their happy hour that ends at 7PM is the way to go. But the "happy hour food" was still inflated hotel prices. We had to get 4 items averaging 14 each for two people to get full and that quickly added up because of how small the portions were. Starting with the cheese croquettes (14) you get.. three ONE bite balls with solid flavor. I was looking under my plate for the rest. The Duck Tacos (14) also come in threes and could be finished in two bites. Skip this. Dry and flavorless. The shrimp tacos (15) were much better than the duck tacos. Also comes in three and flavorful. Tiniest tacos Ive seen. I think street tacos are larger and for $1.75. Chorizo Sliders (14) were forgettable. Not great. The patio is giving converted parking lot pandemic. They tried with shrubbery and plants. Cute enough, but clearly a parking lot. It's a richer vibe inside and for what you're paying, it's best to stay there. I'd come back for the happy hour. Just to drink and catch up with someone for under $10. Drinks were tasty. Food was pretty good, the duck tacos were delicious, a little pricey for the small size so it's def a splurge. House burger and garlic fries were pretty decent too but nothing crazy. The only downside is that the place doesn't have great sound dampening so it's pretty loud inside and have to speak up to talk.
