    Taziki martini on the left

Highly recommend to start the night out or to have a well balanced cocktail after a date night. The music varied a lot the night I went, however most of the songs suited the environment. The ambience is overall really nice for Los Angeles and stands out compared to the other bars I have been to in LA. The service was great and the waitress happily provided top recommendations, which we were pleased with. The standout of this place is the unique drinks they offered, which taste great! I have went to a bar called double chicken please in New York, which specialize in craft cocktails and this place is honestly comparable. The tzatziki martini was a 10/10! Overall recommend this place.

Made a reservation for four on a Friday night at 9 pm. It was a rough start, as our table was not ready until 9:30 pm. However, from there on out, we had a great time! They give you a welcome drink, which was a tiny glass of a strawberry rhubarb cocktail the night we came. The drinks are complex, unique, and delicious. Even the mocktails stood out, though they were certainly not cheap. I got the Onion Knight and the Ceremony, both of which were incredible. I sometimes felt we had to seek out a staff member to order another round or get some snacks, however, I think we caught them on a particularly busy night. Once we got their attention, they were extremely attentive and helpful. I will definitely be back, as this is one of the best cocktail bars in town that I have been too in terms of ambiance and drinks!

I love The Benjamin so I was looking forward to trying the Bar Benjamin Upstairs. I actually really loved the ambiance! It was packed and the bar set up was pretty. It's a great spot to go after dinner with friends or on a date to chill and have a nightcap. I love the unique drinks and they are very very good I loved the Bad Bunny drink I'm still thinking about it. The Ceremony drink was very good too but you have to be a coconut/pandan lover because it tasted very much like pandan to us! The dessert was just okay it kind of lacked flavor but it was a nice sweet treat to compliment the drinks but I wouldn't get it again. The service was kind of weird too our waitress seemed to go to all the tables around us to check on them but she never checked on us I would have to stop her whenever I needed something. Regardless the place is fun and I'd go back to try other drinks!

Bar Benjamin has been on my list for a while, and it finally happened in the most Los Angeles way possible: I just walked in without a reservation and decided to see if the universe wanted me to have a cocktail. Spoiler: it did. This is a proper little upstairs lounge with a separate entrance from the restaurant. It's small, dim, and vibey in a way that makes you immediately lower your voice like you're in a movie scene. The sound system is legit, too. The music leaned more R&B than "generic cocktail bar playlist," which I appreciated. It feels intentional without trying too hard. They started me with a welcome drink that had tequila and fennel. I had a couple sips. Not my favorite flavor combo, but also not offensive. Kind of like a polite handshake you forget about five minutes later. For my actual drink, I ordered the Uptown Girl. Very boozy, which I say as someone who respects a cocktail that shows up ready to work. It's one of the few whiskey drinks on the menu and it landed in that Manhattan-adjacent zone. Spirit-forward, smooth, and absolutely not something you throw back unless you want to text your ex. I drank it slowly and felt extremely mature about it. The cocktail menu is fun, too. Creative names, lots of concoctions, and you can tell the bartenders are really making things, not just pouring and stirring. Even if you're not a cocktail nerd, it's entertaining to watch. If you want a low-lit lounge with great music, a strong drink, and the kind of atmosphere that makes a random weeknight feel like an occasion, Bar Benjamin is worth the visit.

My friends and I were celebrating a birthday and we were looking for a nice bar to visit late at night. We were recommended Bar Benjamin by one of our colleagues because of its delectable drinks and dark atmosphere. Upon entering, the ambiance was already promising because of the dark hallway and "whiskey at the library" vibes. The bar layout was beautiful, and the seats were really nice. The drinks were pretty good too- my favorite was the galaxy quest (pictured below). Our server was really kind and attentive. My only gripe about this place was that it's pretty small, and the music was really loud. Other than that I would definitely come back for a drink or two.

Welcome drinks are you kidding me. So cute

I came here for Valentine's Day drinks. We tried the more cowbell which was a 10/10. I love salty drinks and the baguette foam was insane. The sky daddy was delicious and very boozy, the banana was prominent. Girl dinner was not bad but I probably wouldn't order again. The tzatziki martini was definitely the most interesting and surprising. I also tried the tiramisu martini because ....well I had to. It was okay! The steak tartar was delicious and it came with these everything bagel chips that I wish I could have had a whole bag of. Overall, the ambiance of the place is perfect if you love a moody dim lighting sexy vibe. The bartenders are really good at their craft and the drinks come out so quickly. The drink menu is exciting and different and if I could have kept trying them all in one sitting I would have but that would have been crazy lol. Anyway I WILL be returning.

Fun and creative drinks that are well-priced in a cool bar! My wife absolutely loved the 5 cocktails we ordered: Ceremony, Tommy Boy, Last Laugh, Dead Heat, and the BB Negroni. I thought some of the drinks were not balanced (eg. too salty, too sweet), but the menu was playful and exciting. Service was a mix of slow and fast: we had to wait a while for our orders to be taken, but once placed our drinks arrived quickly. Getting refills on water was a lot harder than it needed to be. I'm excited to see how this bar evolves and I can't wait to be back.

We've been to both the restaurant and now the bar and I have to say I really like the intimate vibe of the bar more. It felt more cozy, and Japanese inspired. The entrance is completely separate from the restaurant and it's on the Melrose side towards the left. You go up the stairs and you'll be greeted by the host by the door. I tried a couple drinks, my favorite being the Matcha cocktail my least favorite being La Bruja. We also ordered almonds and those made very well. The service was fast and friendly, and everyone was so nice and welcoming. I would definitely come back with friends and explore the different cocktails they offer before heading to dinner.

Loved the hospitality, food and drinks here. 10/10 would come back again. Their fries were delicious.

Came to Bar Benjamin a few weeks ago as I heard nothing but good things. Ambiance wise this place is great for date night drinks and appetizers, I also heard the restaurant is really good as well. As for the drinks, I thought they were good but not great. We had a drink that had miso which sounded interesting, but wasn't for our taste buds. The old fashion was decent, but the reason for the 5 stars was the potato chips and service. Words can't describe, but the chips were seasoned perfectly and had a really nice crunch. I asked if I could order a bag of chips to go which I couldn't, but the bartender overheard me and packed some to go for us. Gestures like that definitely go a long way. Would I go again? Absolutely!

Decided to walk-in on a Friday night around 10:30pm. We had to wait around 15 mins for a seat but got one. Recommend reservations over the weekend and you should be able to walk in during the weekdays. We liked the ambiance, very clean and nice bar with upbeat music. They offered us a sweet welcome drink which was nice. The bartender was friendly and made excellent drinks. We got a Manhattan and old fashioned and both of them were on point. Would definitely go back with friends!

A lot of seating and it's also spacious with an outdoor patio that is open to the customers and also widely used for many event. Everything was clean from what I noticed. The music volume was tolerable as well as the selection of choice. Felt like I was on vacation for a min. A great spot to have drinks. A great to spot to meet up or even come for a date. The Melrose Mule was cool. Very refreshing like the bartender mentioned. It was different than the usual mules I get. And the Improved Whiskey was like having an Old Fashion and Whiskey Sour together. It did not disappoint. I also had an attentive bartender who had a good attitude. Didn't take long for him to make my drinks nor put in an order for a smash burger. The smash burger was acceptable. It was good, however, I was expecting something a little bit bigger in size. I like the presentation with it being wrapped in foil. It was cooked perfectly, it was hot and flavorful. No complaints other than the size. I wouldn't mind pulling back up for another happy hour when I'm back in the area. They have some more drinks I would love to try.

The food was just as memorable. The chicken Parmesan was everything you want it to be: crispy, flavorful, and topped with a rich, perfectly balanced marinara and plenty of melted cheese. The Rigatoni Vodka (we added a meatball) was equally impressive. The vodka sauce was creamy without being overly heavy, and the meatball was tender, well seasoned, and packed with flavor. One thing to know before you go: parking can be a nightmare. There is valet in front, or you can opt for parking in the surrounding neighborhood. You're better off grabbing a rideshare if you can. It makes the experience much easier, especially if you plan on enjoying a few drinks. Between the beautiful ambiance, generous portions, and delicious food, this is an easy recommendation. We'll definitely be back.

We originally…read morewanted to try another restaurant, but it was completely booked, so we looked for somewhere new to explore. Met Him At A Bar seemed like a good option, and one of my girlfriends made a reservation for four. Our reservation was at 7:00 PM. I street-parked and walked to the restaurant, where one of my friends was waiting outside. I asked why she wasn't sitting at our table, and she told me that our table was right by the entrance. She didn't like that spot and thought the tables farther inside looked much more comfortable and cozy. Since people were sitting at one of those tables, she wanted to wait until they left. Personally, I thought the table by the entrance was perfectly fine, but I was also STARVING! Another friend arrived and also disliked the table, so we decided to wait. After a while, I was getting way too hungry, so we sat at the bar and ordered an appetizer and drinks while waiting. I first ordered the Garlic Shrimp and asked if it was spicy. I was told it was, so I asked if they could make it without the spice because I can't eat spicy food. He said he would check with the kitchen, but since I was starving and it sounded like it might take too long, I changed my order to Garlic Bread. One of my girlfriends ordered a glass of wine, and since she had made the reservation and gone through the trouble of arranging everything, I treated her to the wine and garlic bread. Then, of course, our friend who is ALWAYS late arrived about 30 minutes late! By then, the rest of us had already decided what to order from the Dine LA menu. We wanted to try as many dishes as possible, so we ordered different items and shared everything. When our late friend arrived, we ordered his dishes separately. For the first course, we had Caesar Salad, Bruschetta, and Meatballs. For the second course, we ordered Rigatoni Vodka, Cacio e Pepe, and Margherita Pizza. For dessert, everyone ordered Tiramisu. Overall, I thought the food was good. My favorites were the Bruschetta, Meatballs, Rigatoni Vodka, and Tiramisu. The Cacio e Pepe was not my favorite because I thought they used way too much black pepper, and my other friends agreed. Our group had mixed reactions overall. Except for one person, the other two felt the food didn't quite live up to their expectations and were somewhat disappointed. But everyone's taste is different, so I completely understand. Considering how expensive everything has become these days, I thought the Dine LA price was pretty reasonable. It was $45 per person, and with tax and tip, it came to $60 each. For that price, I thought the amount of food and the overall experience were pretty good. I also really appreciated how friendly and attentive all the staff members were. I usually don't drink alcohol, and especially when I'm driving, I NEVER drink--not even a sip. That has been my personal rule for decades. So I just ordered water, and I loved how the staff kept coming by and refilling my glass whenever it got low. I drink a LOT of water, so I really appreciated their attentiveness. Now, about parking: valet parking is $17. I decided to street-park instead. One of my friends also street-parked, but unfortunately she got a parking ticket and was VERY upset. I had originally found a spot where a sign said a parking permit was required, so I decided not to take the risk and moved my car. Before leaving, I asked a man walking his dog if it was okay to park there. He said he had seen many cars parked there and they had been fine, but I still didn't trust it because the sign clearly said permits were required. I told him, "I don't think that's allowed." He was very nice and suggested going about three blocks farther, where there was plenty of street parking without a permit. I followed his advice and parked there. Unfortunately, my friend who stayed in the permit-only spot ended up getting a ticket. Another friend parked in the parking structure across the street and said it cost $18. Since I had parked farther away and didn't want to walk alone at night, I asked him to drop me off at my car after dinner, and he kindly did. So my parking recommendation is to use the $17 valet or street-park about three blocks away where no permit is required. I definitely would NOT recommend parking in the permit-only spaces unless you want to risk getting a ticket. One of the funniest things about this neighborhood is the restaurant names. The restaurant we went to is called "Met Him At A Bar," and literally right across the street is "Met Her At A Bar." There's also another restaurant called "The Night We Met." I have to say, the names are pretty creative and definitely make this neighborhood more fun! Overall, we had a fun evening together, and for $60 per person including tax and tip, I thought it was a pretty decent Dine LA experience.
