I recently checked out The Benjamin on Melrose and overall had a really nice experience. They do offer valet, but there is street parking in the neighborhood is limited to 2 hours until 8pm, so plan accordingly. We went right when they opened at 5:30 and had no trouble grabbing seats at the bar without a reservation, which was great. Of course, I had to try the much-talked-about burger. At $34, expectations were definitely high. It comes with skinny fries, which were fine, and the burger itself was a solid, classic -- well-cooked, juicy, with American cheese -- everything you'd expect. It's also a good size -- I split it with a friend and we both felt relatively full (though we did end up grabbing a small snack at our next stop). That said, I'm not sure it quite justifies the price point. Good, but not necessarily standout for me. In a place like this, you have to get martinis -- and we did. I went with a classic dry, and my friend ordered the Dirtier Martini, which came with olives and capers, plus a little extra on the side. Both were great, exactly what you'd hope for. Where this place really shines is the ambiance and service. The space is lovely, intimate, and perfect for a relaxed night out. The staff was excellent -- super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, I would come back for the vibe and drinks, and I'm glad I tried it -- just might explore more of the menu next time.

Crab beignets and orange chicken wings.

4.2/5: Extremely vibey and the food is nice and fresh, I just wasn't in love with any of the dishes. We got the Benjamin Burger, the crab beignets, and the orange chicken wings. The wings were pretty good, tastes pretty much like what you would expect of like honestly the sauce similar to Panda Express. The crab beignets had a lot of crab and very very filling for their smaller size. The Benjamin burger: a more smoky tasting burger than I expected and a perfect medium rare. I appreciate that you'll get your moneys worth in terms of fullness and it's a very cool restaurant. The service was super attentive and I loved the atmosphere, the music was laid back hip-hop/ pop hits of the 2010s-2020s. I'd recommend trying at least once, or visiting with some friends for a drink.

Tuesday night date. Cool vibe inside, feels old school but with a modern update. Music was fire, played a lot of Travis and Future haha. We started with Lychee Martini and Ben's Dirty Martini. Both really good but Ben's won out and also comes with a sidecar. Blue cheese olives were S tier :). Got parker house rolls and little gem as apps. Butter for rolls was the star, super creamy and comes with a salty crust on top. Unique and elevates the relatively basic (but done well, rolls). Little gem salad is p basic (romaine with dressing and dill) but it's refreshing and easy to put down. Main was the burger which was killer. It looks Super thick/hard to eat but it's not at all. Meat is tender with good beef flavor and the cheese, onions, and a really unique hickory sauce worked extremely well. Fries were best overall item, fancy McDonald's fries and an out of bounds garlic aioli for dipping (!). Total bill was $200 with tip so be prepared to spend when coming but it's well worth it, great meal and great service!

This burger was top tier and the burger alone would be a 5 star in itself, days later I still find myself craving another burger from here

So let me just say this, the burger is a 5 star burger hands down, if the other factors like a chicken kale salad with no chicken and iffy service, but I'd probably eat this hamburger 7 days a week so don't try anything else lol if you love a good burger that isn't heavy or over thought this is the place!!

Restaurant is adorable and such a vibe! The burger is made the perfect way! Highly recommend getting the potato and eat it with your hands in whole! The crab beignets are also one of the best things in the menu. The bar upstairs is cute, love the way they have drinks every month. This one this month has blueberry and gin, delicious! Service was great, greeted in every part of the building. Super friendly and would definitely come back

I had always wanted to go here for the Hamburger and it was absolutely everything I had ever heard. It is a 'light' variation of any hamburger that you have ever had. The freshest of ingredients and the way it's made has got to be the cleanest version one can enjoy. The beef was perfectly cooked at Medium Rare and not the least bit of grease or heaviness. The bun is amazing too and airy and able to absorb all the fantastic sauces and cheeses that comes with this. I suggest this is shared with a loved one or a good friend. I loved the wedge salasd and specifically the way it's served - chopped! This take the pressure off of cutting it at all and can be easily eaten. The Bordeaux was wonderful and our server was so upbeat and very fun and smart. The tart for dessert was the tartest tart that one can tart and very cool when combined with the amazing gram cracker crust and meringue. One complaint is sadly the seating there are very small seats for two everywhere and one is not allowed to sit in a booth unless they are three or more. No if ands or buts. It was our Second Anniversary and a very early reservation on a Thursday made weeks beforehand. I wanted to surprise my husband with a much more romantic experience but the hostess would not allow us to sit in a booth whatsoever. We were almost sat in a very small very busy little table - where every single booth in the entire restaurant were empty. These also stayed empty for the duration of our meal. There was not a single care for the requests we made thru RESY. This makes the consumer who really loves your restaurant to absolutely lie in the future just to be sat in a booth and warn anyone who needs a romantic anniversary to choose another spot entirely and maybe just come here for a drink and keep moving.

The Benjamin has a super cool, speakeasy-style vibe that immediately sets the tone for a great night out. The food and service were strong overall, with some real standouts. The burger and fries were a big highlight--classic, well-executed, and very satisfying. I also really enjoyed the hamachi crudo, which was fresh and nicely balanced. The branzino, while well cooked, had an intense layer of oil underneath that felt a bit overpowering for my taste. We finished with the cookies and cream dessert, which was solid and a nice way to end the meal. Service was excellent throughout--attentive without being intrusive, and the staff checked in on us often. Overall, great atmosphere, strong food, and very good service. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely lived up to the expectations. Came here on a Sunday night for dinner with the boyfriend with a reservation. We were initially going to be sat at one of the tables but chose the bar instead. We came specifically for the $36 cheese burger and cookies. We ordered one of the salads, 2 cheese burgers, the chai crème brûlée and the cookies with cream. Little gem Salad was very basic and I wouldn't recommend ordering. Nothing special about it and I feel the dish could be replaced with something a bit better. If you want simple, this is as simple as it gets. Cheese burgers were perfect medium, loaded with cheese and paired with an elevated McDonald's style fry. Deserts were also good but the chai was personally too strong for me. Very well spiced and concentrated if chai is your thing. Servers were super nice, music was bumping, great for a first date or solo dinner at the bar. Valet is $14 and I'm not sure if they have corkage or not. It did start to get pretty busy by the time we left to the point people that were waiting for a table had to sit at the bar and grab a drink. I will definitely be coming back to try more things! Also the bathroom smells so nice

Pure Date Night vibes. Have been hearing about the Martinis and Burger here, so when a random night popped up with some friends we decided to check this place out with reservations wide open. A cute ass spot on the interior, with some good vibes for any date night or catch up session with friends. Theyve got a cocktail line up that'll make any one who enjoys a craft cocktail smile. We all grabbed a few drinks, and to keep it simple the cocktail were on point here. But we move on to the food: The Burger: this thing was JUICY AF and beefy. If you enjoy a good burger this is a solid option. Is it the best burger in LA? I'd probably say no, but its a damn good burger. The shocker order: The Crab Beignets were ridiculous. I thought they might be stingy w the amount of crab, but these things were packed w crab and flavor. Big W here. Order this for sure. Twice baked potato. This might be the bougiest baked potato ive had, but this was good. If you love a potato then get this. Overall a great place to swing by for cocktails or even the food. The service was on point, and again the vibes were nice. Check this place out.

Finally made it to The Benjamin, and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. As you know, it's got a retro-styled supper club vibe, with plenty of chatter that's lively without being overly loud. Service is top rate, from the valet to the genial host and on to the panoply of bartenders and servers who work as a team. Drinks were well-crafted and attractive, and the house deserves kudos for garnishing the martinis with a trio of different olives. As this was our first time, we ordered the two things most talked-about. Crab Beignets were a light and savory starter. The warm crab filling had plenty of flavor, and the slightly crispy, savory donut shells made for the perfect, unobtrusive delivery system. A mild, tartar sauce-like aioli added the familiar accompaniment taste profile without overpowering the creamy crab, while a few pearls of salmon roe per beignet added an effective, briny counterpoint to the richness of the crab. Next up, the much-lauded Benjamin Burger, which most assuredly earns its voluminous accolades. Perfectly seasoned and cooked, fresh ground beef is presented on an artisan sesame seeded bun with slightly grilled onion, melty cheese and artisan pickles that, once again, offer an appreciated acidic contrast to the richer elements of the dish. Fries are traditional, but nicely cooked and seasoned, and neatly round out the burger experience. As we had an event to attend and knew we'd be having more to drink, we opted out of dessert, but nearly everyone around us had the warm cookies and house made whipped cream, and they all seemed pretty happy with that choice. All in all, The Benjamin is an enjoyable and welcoming place to indulge in kicked-up comfort food. It's ain't cheap by any means, but it's most definitely worth the splurge.

Came here for the burger and we were met with excellent service, ambiance and food. Waited for the wife to have hers well done with a shrimp cocktail which was delish and then got the burger. The burger was fantastic. I had it medium rare it was succulent. You can definitely add it to the best burgers in LA list. I think that only Hinano and Heavy Handed compete with this place. That said the Benjamin is an awesome hidden gem and you don't expect what you get in any way. The ambiance is that of a speak easy with excellent food. Our server was tremendous too. Thanks for an excellent experience The Benjamin Hollywood!

Stepping into the venue would feel like you're just transported into a totally different space. Classy look, dim lighting, somewhat giving the speakeasy's vibe. Reservation's highly recommended as the venue seemed to be pretty busy as early as 6pm-ish. My friend and I started with their Crab Beignets, my pick being a crab lover. Wouldn't say it's not kinda steep being an appetizer, but when I took a bite I could tell it featured generous portions of crab meat. Pretty simple yet well-seasoned and flavorful. As for the main, we shared The Benjamin Burger, which I would say was the crowd's favorite as it seemed to be in almost all the reviews and we could see it served on lots of other tables. Just like how the picture showed it, ordering it medium, they did come at the precise wellness - juicy and tender. The sauce complemented the overall taste, but surely not overpowering. It's served with fries on the side with nice garlic sauce and ketchup. Despite I did enjoyed my burger a lot, would admit it's tad pricey being at mid $30s. As if french fries weren't enough, we did get their Baked Potato, their other dish that made it to the top reco on Yelp. To my surprise, it tasted super rich and the crispy delicious skin was doubtlessly the winner. SO SO GOOD, especially when you took a bite with all the elements in the plate - the sour cream, the scallion, and the bacon as add-on we opted for. If you felt like splurging, they also offered caviar add-on, which could turn your baked potato to be over $100. Overall, I certainly had an impressive dinner. Would I come back? Prolly only on certain occasion when I would be willing to spend more.

Unfortunately, I think the vibe is completely off with this type of food, and I think it's hurting their customer base (I.e, there's a sports watching day, and live DJ?, but the food is definitely more for upscale vibes). I also didn't know they have a rotating menu with different chefs, so when I came in craving for something like steak frites and find out the don't have it even though their sample menu lists it on their website, it kind of throws my mood a little. Moreover, their wine list is not extensive considering it's a wine bar, and wine mentioned in their name :) Anyways I've digressed. With this special menu, I ordered the scallop tostada and maitake taco. The scallops were very fresh, and it was a very well balanced dish. I would totally order this again! The maitake mushroom was exploding with flavors, though I find the sauce a little too salty for my taste. If I came here just for food, I'd come back and try new things!
