Came for Chef Antonia Lafaso's restaurant. Decor is giving high end chic beach bar kindda vibe. Calamari is good but I wish it's in a bigger piece. They also use squid ink so it's actually black color. Corn was superb. The special sauce was so different. Love the taste. Tostado cooked perfectly. Soft and tender beef brisket. Basically fell apart when you try to pick it up. Fried quesadilla is not my fav. Beef empanadas are not bad. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The restaurant is inside a plaza with couple restaurants together. Outside of the plaza is a little sketchy. Street parking. Free after 6pm.
Went back to Dama for their Dine LA menu so I thought I'd post so you don't miss out. For starters you get GUACAMOLE, WHIPPED BEANS AND A CEVICHE TOSTADA. Yes, you get all three so no hard choices have to be made. My first impression of the beans was that they were no biggie but last night they were fire! I almost ordered a plate to take home. You have been warned the ceviche tostada has a kick but squirt some lime on it if you need to and you will survive. As for the guacamole, it's guacamole - need I say more? For my entree I went with the snapper, which came with escabeche, lime, pineapple, cilantro, green onion, and chili rub. In the past, I've strictly stuck to their small plates and I feel that's still the way to go. Nothing wrong with my snapper, I just love all the other little plates more. I went with one other person and only one piece of cheesecake came out. Supposedly it was a bigger slice but looked like an average size to me. This cheesecake is made with manchego cheese so don't expect an overly sweet treat. I did enjoy it. But, I also ordered their flan that is only available in August and I found that to be better than the cheesecake. Get both as one is limited edition. We also got the fried chicken tacos. We were told they were pretty spicy but I felt the ceviche was spicier. They were tasty but did not live up to their oxtail tacos they used to have. Also, squirt some lime on these tacos - you're welcome. This is one of my fave places to dine during peak weather season. Go check them out. Tip: street parking is available if you get there at 5 otherwise valet is $15. Trust, you do not want to park your car anywhere other than that one block where the restaurant is located.

There are lots around too Love the outdoor area They have permanent benches that are cushioned with backrests too So enjoy the outside protected from the wind Most tables are shaded with the buildings surrounding too so you have this nice alcove feel Enjoy your mimosas and cocktails!!
Was brought here by a friend as they knew I was a foodie and wanted to show me their favorite tapas spot Downtown in the Fashion Distric for an early birthday celebration. Cute building with lovely patio seating: from the trailing hanging pothos plants, Spanish tiles, to relaxing latin-house music the vibes were welcoming. I'm not much of a drinker though, when asked if I wanted to make my pina colada a "float" I thought incorrectly about ice cream. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant. Valet parking or park across the street or around the corner in a lot for $5-10.
ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING WENT WELL! We had the best server our wonderful Diana, which I requested to be at her table because simply she's the best. She is wonderful, kind, friendly, efficient, professional, knowledgeable and very hardworking. The whole team at DAMA is amazing. The 2 young ladies at the hostess counter were very nice and welcoming. The food is out of this world, perfection in every way. OMG Chef Antonia Lefaso you're a genius, and one day we will meet you. Every dish we had was delicious and creative, we still talk about it. The restaurant is simply beautiful, indoor and outdoor and patio. Great valet service. I wish you would open a location in Glendale or Pasadena that would be a dream come true. Thank you Diana for always being amazing and we had the best birthday celebration
Upon arrival you greeted with a wonderful hostess who sat us, a party of 5. Each dish was equally delicious in their own right. The food was served expeditiously. The ambience is warm and friendly on the inside near the bar. Plenty of seating available indoors or out for a large party. Wine selection is good.
I LOVE DAMA. If I could give this place more than five stars, I absolutely would. I've been coming here for the past six years, and it has truly become my favorite restaurant. From the exceptional food and drinks to the warm hospitality and beautiful location, every visit is a wonderful experience. the service is always welcoming and attentive. I've recommended DAMA to so many friends over the years, and it has become a favorite for them as well. It's rare to find a restaurant that maintains such a high standard year after year, but DAMA does exactly that. I truly love this place and can't recommend it enough. I have several favorite dishes and celebrated many birthdays here. Thank you for six incredible years--I look forward to many more.
I celebrated my 40th here with my husband and I don't even know where to begin. The atmosphere was so lovely and so intimate. It felt like you were in a tropical island somewhere surrounded by all the greenery. The service, exceptional. Our water cups were never, ever empty. Our waitress was so sweet with tips and suggestions, and quick shoutout to Wilson (I hope I got his name right) who was our busboy that day, he was just the sweetest! The food. Omg the food. We started off with the Whipped beans, which in retrospect you would think ok it's just a bean dip, but this is not just a bean dip. It's a piece of art constructed into a delicious appetizer full of flavor. We also ordered the chicken tacos and the crispy pork shank. I am still dreaming of that pork shank. It was fall off the bone amazing. Drinks and dessert (especially the flan) were killer. I have not stopped talking about this place to my friends and I could not have celebrated a big milestone in a better place! :)
One of the best elevated mexican food I ever had. I can't wait to come back and try the other dishes. My gf and I tried this spot on valentine's day (yeah, i know, little late on the review, but hear me out), it was really romantic i must say. Dimmed lights, patio seating and live music is hard to beat. Our favorite dish was the pork shank, because it was tender and nice to put our own tacos together. My gf really enjoyed the salad, it was fluffed with cheese and it didn't misss. The chorizo and clams was my favorite. Dipping the bread in the juices was sooooo good! Parking can be found on the streets. Might be a little hard, but be prepared to walk.
I really enjoy coming here. The vibe of the restaurant and surrounding area is so much fun and lively. Food always hits the spot and we pick something different every time. Whipped beans, and lamb are my favorites so far. Service never disappoints, server will recommend and always so friendly. I brought my husband here for his birthday and it did not disappoint! Valet parking right outside the restaurant is $14 (they take cards) and is super convenient. We arrived early for our reservation which was no problem, they seated us right away. This is such a gorgeous restaurant! We were seated on the patio and the weather was perfect. At one point the heaters turned on, I asked for them to be turned off and they happily obliged. They have a huge bar and a nice menu of craft cocktails and flights. We each had a cocktail, I had a glass of wine, and he had their whiskey flight as well. All the drinks were great. Menu is a lot of small plates and a handful of entrees. We decided to stick to the small plates so we could try many different things. We ordered Whipped Beans, Empanadas, Lamb Chops, Fried Chicken Tacos, and Crispy Squash Flowers. LOVED IT ALL. My favorites though were the whipped beans - the crispy carnitas on top were soooo good, and the fried chicken tacos, which were very spicy but so scrumptious. My husband couldn't handle the heat and I gladly finished his taco. For dessert were ordered the Fluffernutter, which was the only thing we didn't enjoy much. The fried shell was bland, the marshmallow was way too sweet, and I felt it could have had more bananas for substance, and more salt to cut the sweetness. I was prepared to spend about $300 for this meal, and I was pleasantly surprised when the bill came and it was under $200 for everything! I'd love to come back here again with friends so we can try even more of the menu.
My SO took me here for Valentine's Day dinner and I would say he did a really good job:)) The parking was a little tricky since there was only street parking but we were still able to find one nearby. This area was in a small plaza with other restaurants and bars. There was plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. We sat outdoors but it wasn't too cold since they had heaters. The vibes were vibing with moody lights and really unique decor. I felt like this place is perfect for everyone since we saw lots of couples, even families and friends. We ordered some appetizers and 1 entree to share. WOW! All the food was amazing. So much flavor in every dish. I highly recommend this place if you enjoy Mexican food!
This is a good place to try if you're looking for a place in the arts district and don't care about price. You are greeted as soon as you arrive and the waitress is very friendly. I visited on a Saturday afternoon as soon as they opened, so it wasn't too busy. The food was good, but nothing I would go back for. I would love a better cocktail menu.

I made reservation few weeks in advance for Saturday 5:30pm dinner to try out Chef Antonia Lofaso's restaurant. Upon arriving at the restaurant block, I was so surprised to see it was in a spooky area. I was literally terrified to leave my car parked on the street. They had valet parking for $15 also. The restaurant itself looked super nice, beautiful interior and a huge bar in the middle. Some tables were in outdoor patio area too. The menu had bunch of small and large plates, alongside lots alcoholic and N/A drinks. I ordered the Strawberry Daiquiri Mocktail that almost tested like a smoothie. The fried calamari, corn, empanadas, short rib tostada and chicken taco, all were good dishes but none of them were mind blowing. Prices were mostly fair. The service was really good. Our server did a wonderful job. All the dishes came out in short intervals. Overall a good location to have relaxing dining experience with friends and family. read more

Food 3.5/5: Aguachile was very yummy (like nigiri), calamari was pretty unique, and lamb chops were amazing and I usually don't like lamb because of the strong smell. Drinks were pretty average, as well as the crispy pork shank and desserts (flan and churros). Nothing stood out and won't be back next time. Service 5/5: attentive server. Ambiance 5/5 read more

DAMA was such a great experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly attentive and genuinely kind, which really elevated the whole night. We were celebrating a birthday and they surprised us with a complimentary glass of prosecco -- such a thoughtful touch and very much appreciated. A The tapas were excellent - flavorful, well-presented, and perfect for sharing. Every dish we tried hit the mark, and the pacing was just right so we could enjoy everything without feeling rushed. read more

This is my second time here and my initial impression was confirmed - the food is fantastic and authentic, all the while unique! The empanadas and paella (vegetarian) were my favorite dishes. I also highly recommend the churros as desert! The staff was super friendly and the vibe can be great for a date, a family outing, or a group get together! read more

It's never a bad time at Dama went back here to show my friend the spot after fabric shopping in La . Ordered a couple small plates and got to take my fur baby with me to enjoy and treat him to lamb ! The service was great and they adored poro ! It's been a while since I went to Dama and I wanted to check it out again. I went during the week so it was much quieter and quaint compared to their weekends. They had Día de los Muertos deco set up which was really pretty. Service was fine overall, though our server could have been a bit more attentive. The meal itself was delicious - the crispy potatoes and short rib tostada were definite highlights for me. The drinks were also great, with a nice variety to choose from. read more

Had dinner here Sunday night and I don't think we could be more disappointed. Server was nice but service was very slow. Took awhile to get drinks and order. We ordered the calamari, seafood paella, and fried chicken tacos. My daughter liked her tacos but they were pretty basic. The calamari was just ok Only the last few pieces had any real flavor to them. The seafood paella was the more disappointing of all and it was of course the most expensive. Sad amount of seafood. And absolutely no flavor. Like none. Just a pile of cilantro. We were flabbergasted. Would not eat here again. And I feel the reviews have to be dishonest after our experience read more

Dama was wonderful. I highly recommend it. It is in the fashion district of LA which you would never know is there. They have a parking lot across the street that you can park at or you can drive to their valet. We chose the lot across the street which was secured with a security guard and very well lit. Once inside the restaurant is beautiful. It's so elegant and very welcoming. The atmosphere is really down to earth. There is a beautiful bar in the middle of the restaurant with tons of tables all around including a small patio for seating. We were a party of eight and I made reservations online. The menu is more like tapas, small plates that are able to be shared. Our server was very helpful in guiding us on how to work the menu. He suggested that we order lots of small plate items to share since there was eight of us, two of each item was best. It was perfect! All items were wonderful. We loved the Aguachiles, bread, arepas, whipped beans, quesadillas and guacamole. We had 3 more plates but by the time the last 3 came out, we were getting stuffed. This is a hidden gem in LA. Our server Zack was amazing and so incredibly helpful. read more
I had a good experience at this Latin American-inspired restaurant/bar! I visited this restaurant on a Saturday night for a friend's birthday and the restaurant wasn't too busy. Walking in I liked the ambiance and the lighting, a good spot for a date. I also liked seeing the central bar. There's both inside and outside seating, but my party of 3 did outside seating. For food and drinks, here's what we got: - Sandia Mezcal: A nice cocktail that was balanced with fruity and salty flavors. A good amount of liqueur as well. - Aguachile: As a raw seafood lover, this was tasty and I liked the heat and tanginess from the serrano sauce. It came with tostada chips which we did not realize you ate with the aguachile, but the chips themselves were good as well. - Lamp Chops: Nicely cooked and tender. Love the flavor of them and the fact that the fat isn't overpowering. Some of the best lamb I had so far. - Empanadas: These were good, but not mind-blowing. They kind of fell apart too easily. - Corn: Love how these were prepared street corn style. The corn was nicely cooked and I loved the creamy sauces and cheese they were coated in. - Paella: Solid paella. I liked how there was a lot of meat and toppings. Not the best paella though and I wasn't a fan of how mushy it was. Lastly, they gave the birthday celebrant some vanilla bean soft-serve to share it was it was sweet and refreshing. In total, the tapa-sized food does add up making this place a bit expensive, but a good option if you're looking for an upscale night out. The service here was good and the waiters were attentive. They made sure to refill our cups often and bring us fresh plates. For parking, there's valet parking, but also street parking. However, the street parking can be a bit dangerous since the area doesn't look very safe. Overall, a good experience here and I would come back for a special occasion. read more
My friends and I ate dinner at DAMA while visiting LA for a couple days. We've followed the chef & owner across Food Network for some time, so we were really excited to try her restaurant. We made a reservation, but depending on the day you may not need one. We went around 5:30pm on a Wednesday and the restaurant never got completely full. There is valet parking on the street outside the restaurant. It's $14. We went in with high expectations. While overall it was a very solid dining experience; if I'm honest, it didn't amaze us like I'd hoped. The service? Excellent. Our server was great. Professional, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant? Beautiful. Lots of plants and greenery everywhere. They had all the patio doors open to enjoy the evening air. The food? Great for most dishes, just okay for others. We started with the Aguachile, Crispy Squash Flowers, Corn, and Calamari. The Aquachile was fantastic but it didn't match the tostada ratio it comes with. We finished it with multiple empty tostadas at the end. The Crispy Squash Flowers were underwhelming. Not sure what I was expecting, but they were rather bland and oily. The corn was great! One of my favorite bites. The calamari was also excellent. She has calamari at multiple of her restaurants and does a fantastic job with the dish. Super craveable. Next we ordered the Rotisserie Chicken plate. The ratios on this dish are interesting. There's enough chicken realistically for 2 people, but a heaping mound of fries for 4 people. I love fries so I wasn't complaining. But there were 3 of us sharing the plate and I was definitely left wanting for more chicken. If I lived in LA I could see myself coming back. But as someone who lives out of state, unfortunately it just didn't amaze enough to warrant a return visit. read more
Food was generally decent but pretty expensive. Nice ambiance- wasn't crowded when we went but it was early. I could see this getting busier later. We came here for Valentines dinner. The ambiance was so nice and modern. We loved the table we were seated at. The service was great. We started with the whipped beans, oysters, and scallops. The whipped beans are a must try. Our main dishes were the whole snapper and ribeye. My date loved the snapper and I preferred the ribeye. Ribeye was cooked perfectly and the salsa verde it comes with is so full of flavor. We ended the night with churros. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a date night or girls night out. read more
I've loved watching Antonia Lofaso on TV pretty much since her Top Chef days so when in LA, I had to try DAMA. Boyfriend and I ended up sharing 5 small plates and it was just enough food for us. Of the 5, our favorites were the Aguachile and the Short Rib Tostada. They were punchy with flavor and did a great job mixing up textures. We also ordered the crispy chicken tacos which were piping hot on delivery. The chicken also had a nice smoky heat and I also enjoyed the nuttiness from the sesame. The ever popular Bread was also very tasty. The confit garlic with fresh tomatoes was seemingly too simple but packed good flavor. Last but not least, the lamb chops. Wooo, that was a flavor bomb but I did think it was a little salty. They also almost forgot this dish and we had to remind them so -1 star there. I will admit I didn't quite expect the neighborhood that DAMA was located in, but at least the restaurant itself shares a space with other eateries so it's quite lively. read more

Michelin guided, top chef, tournament of champions VI, among many accolades, chef Antonias' 'Dama' tastes of Hispanic cuisine straight from a cooking competition. With the romantically regal decor compliments the rustic Latin cuisine. The professional waiter's have a friendly do before asking motto. Impeccable service that matches the cuisine. I'm sure the menu changes often but don't skip eating at Dama. The arepa and chicken tacos were my favorite dishes. Everything was solid. Hint of spice that didn't tarnish the meal. Well seasoned meats and pickled veggies. Nice use of acid with certain meats. However the empanadas had too much of a cumin after taste and the dip was a bit too spicy but not heavy with vinegar balance. Lastly the churros were decent and soft but not sweet as I'd like. I will happily dine here again soon. Restrooms are back of restaurant behind bar. The price is sparse but worth eating fresh organic ingredients. I don't even know where to start...just go! Lol! A few of us came here after work on a Tuesday. We were seated right away, and offered drink suggestions. We ordered the Latin lover, and omg it was so delicious and perfectly balanced. Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the shrimp ceviche. My mouth waters just thinking about it! Well... Dama did it again. This place has quickly become one of my favorites, and this was already my third visit. This time, we tried the clams, calamari, fried chicken tacos, and the roasted chicken. As usual, everything was excellent. If you find yourself in the Los Angeles Downtown Garment District, I definitely recommend stopping by Dama for great food and cocktails. I would recommend it, even if you're not in the area. The service is always on point, the atmosphere is chill yet a little sexy, and they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The food here has always been good. Still good this time around. The empanadas were delicious, and the black squid ink calamari are a hit. The flavors are chef's kiss. The drinks are amazing as well. Strong and doesn't taste watered down. Our server was very nice and checked in with is frequently. I've always liked the vibes of this place, as it has that latin inspired theme. Since it is the world cup they had TVs set up and showed the games. Dama is always a must try. The churros were also good. read more
First time trying a Latin American inspired cuisine and I'm so glad we tried it out! They have an indoor and outdoor seating with open door ambiance. It was really cold that night and we were seated outside. It was nice to have the heaters on. I don't think they had anything indoors. We ordered their seafood tostada, whipped beans, empanadas, crispy potatoes, and lamb chops. Out of all the tapas we ordered, The seafood tostada was the best plate. The empanadas were our least favorite. There was this scent, spice that we weren't a fan of. A little disappointed in the crispy potatoes because they were crispy at all. Just regular fingering potatoes tossed in this aioli sauce. Our server was very nice and helped out with the menu. Overall it was a good restaurant to try out! read more

They actually bothered to ask if any of us had any allergies when we were ordering so I would say it's safe. (Please note, I don't have any allergies so I can't say for sure)

No, but I suggest looking at the dinner menu online to make sure there are plates they would eat with you. I have a 5yo who doesn't like spicy and she did great. Depends on the kid b/c it may not be the best restaurant for picky or "beige food"…
