Came here for brunch and the pancakes and burger were delicious! Service was great and even my dog had a good time. Good vibes! loved that they Valet.
Took my friends here who were visiting from out of town brunch. This wedding that weekend and hotel was right next to them. So was it a perfect option. We ordered the cod sandwich, congee, Lobster roll, and braised beef with a side of biscuits. Everyone enjoyed their food. Except maybe my friend who ordered the lobster roll. She felt it was really soggy lobster so she felt it might've been canned? My lobster was a good size and crispy The restaurant itself is beautiful, it was a nice day outside and it was Sunny. I love the decor, it gives off a natural airy feel. The service was standard. I feel like the was nothing wrong but nothing outstanding
Oh dear Redbird. My expectation for this restaurant was pretty high as I heard great things. I've been trying to try Redbird since Father's Day 2025. Just a back story on that, I made a reservation for June 15 2025, I received an email from the floor manager telling me all reservations have been canceled due to an event. Mind you, I get this email on June 13th. I was annoyed because I had to scramble and find a restaurant that had availability. I'm sure they knew of this event a while ago. So that was annoying. In September of 2025, I reached out to the floor manager, Ani, and tried to make a reservation for September 14th. She informed me that they will be closed for an event. So I reached out to Ani one last time to get a reservation for my anniversary on April 21st. We finally got in! So with all of the back and forth with Ani, I kind of expected them to go above and beyond. But unfortunately, I felt we were treated not so great. When we arrived, we waited a good 10 mins until the hostess greeted us. The time we were there, no one acknowledged our presence. When she finally came, she did apologized and walked us over to a big table in the farthest corner in the restaurant. Now mind you, it was only 3 of us, and they tried to sit us at a table that can seat 6, in a corner. No no, I'm not sitting there. I've literally been trying to come here for the past 9months and it's my anniversary. So I asked to be sat at a smaller table in the middle of the restaurant. Now, I'm familiar on how the seating works as it really comes down to the amount of servers you have and the amount of tables are within their section. But again, the manager Ani, was fully aware of my reservation and I felt that she should've provided better hospitality for us. So, once we were seated, we waited awhile for our waiter. When he finally showed up, we placed our order. We had drinks, appetizers, and our main meal. The menu is on the smaller side, so I expected the food to be overly delicious. But it was just ok. It was good, but not mind blowing. After dinner, I asked the waiter if I can speak with Ani. She came and I reminded her who I was and the back and forth emails we've had since July 2025. She knew right away. I told her I was a bit disappointed that the hostess was trying to sit us in the far corner. All she said was "oh sorry about that". That was it, no complementary dessert, or anything. Like wow! We've been treated so much better at other restaurants. It was real disappointing. I would not recommend this spot nor would I come back. I suggest the managers do more hospitality trainings.
Went to Redbird in downtown LA for the first time with a party of seven and really enjoyed brunch. The ambiance is amazing--it's a beautiful restaurant and a great setting for a special meal. We tried quite a few things including the biscuits, shrimp and grits, biscuits and gravy, the crispy potatoes appetizer, and pancakes. Everything was really good, and the biscuits were especially a standout. The only small hiccup was that my son wasn't a fan of their take on the biscuits and gravy--he said it tasted more like a chili than what he expected. But the staff handled it perfectly. They were extremely helpful and friendly and immediately replaced it with something else that he enjoyed. Overall, it was a really nice experience with great food, a beautiful atmosphere, and excellent service. While everything was good, the menu didn't quite pull us back for another visit, but it was definitely worth trying.
Absolutely amazing dinner! Everything was delicious. We were thrilled with the complimentary Brazilian cheesy rolls. One person in our group is vegetarian, and there were plenty of options for her on the menu. I ordered the clam pasta, which is one of my favorite dishes but can be very hit-or-miss depending on the clams. These clams were cooked perfectly with not even a speck of grit remaining in them, and the guanciale was the perfect addition for a nice burst of extra flavor. This was a delicious and memorable dinner, and I would certainly come back if I'm ever in LA again.
The ambiance is fantastic: sexy lighting, warm and cozy, relaxing and spacious. We were there celebrating a friend's birthday since it's a beautiful place. The staff was also very friendly. They could have checked in on us a little more, but overall very attentive. That being said, the food, while gorgeously presented, was slightly underwhelming, especially compared to the first time I went; textures and salt levels falling short of ideal. I'm not sure if I was turned off by the price to portion ratio as well. Cocktails are great and there's a nice wine selection. I'd love to stop by again for just a drink at the bar, great vibe to drink and chat. Nice that they have valet, not too pricey.
I love a good Brunch spot... Tried RedBar with my sisters and between the ambiance, quality ingredients and taste, we were happy campers! [ ] Pear Salad: fresh with creamy goat cheese (noms) slightly spicy from black pepper and arugula, it's sooo good [ ] Basque Baked Eggs: spice-heavy though balanced. If you're nervous of spicy dishes, you'll enjoy the rich flavors without a sight of overwhelm [ ] Biscuits: decent, though not fresh (dined at end of brunch, so I get it) [ ] Blueberry Ricotta Pancake: simply decadent. A pancake lover's rejoice. Moist and buttery! [ ] Cod Sanwich: lemon & dill - cod was juicy with a tasty tempura finish, married by the garlic aoli.
Another lovely brunch experience with our good friend and her beautiful toddler daughter, with an expanding palate. Redbird is an incredibly beautiful space to dine. I'd been here years prior for an event, but hadn't yet visited the restaurant. The pictures don't live up to experiencing the main dining space in person. Beautifully bright and open, with distinct color selections for the furniture and decor - simple, yet thoughtful. I knew the food was exceptional and it truly exceeded expectations. Cocktails we tried: Modern Mimosa Good Morning Vietnam 5 Easy Pieces - our favorite. Very light, flavorful, and refreshing. Food Selections: Pear Salad Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes Frittata Tempura Cod Sandwich Shrimp and Grits Basque Baked Eggs Buttermilk Biscuits Applewood Smoked Bacon Too much food on purpose because we wanted to try a little of everything and were happy to send the leftovers home to our friend's husband. Everything was very good. Standouts, however, were the Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes, Frittata, and the Tempura Cod Sandwich. I'm not a huge pancake fan, but these were like no other! Baby girl tore through the Frittatta lol. And the cod was cooked to perfection on the sandwich and paired with an amazing sauce. So good. The staff were extremely accommodating. Our reservation was shortly before they begin their transition to dinner and they allowed us to stay a while and catch up as they transitioned. Very kind. We will most definitely return for dinner and I'd love to dine in their lounge space soon as well. We had a wonderful time here.
Delicious pre theater dining. There's something for everyone, from steak frites to pasta to Seabass to pork chop. This makes it difficult to say that the restaurant has a "specific point of view". But, with that said, it also makes for a profitable restaurant and a delicious meal so that's a WIN. Service is exceptional, vibes are immaculate! Located in the historic St Vibiana Cathedral - it's truly beautiful.
My favorite restaurant in Downtown LA. The food, ambiance, and service are all exceptional. The open concept and retractable roof are stunning features, and there is no bad table. Great place for a business meal, intimate dinner, or group experience. Valet parking makes it easy to get in and out in a busy downtown setting. Definitely give the Earl Grey puffs a try for a dessert!
Visiting for a conference, I asked a local friend for a recommendation for dinner and he said Redbird. I googled the name and thought it looked beautiful with a upscale menu. When I arrived I loved the ambiance -very intimate with a sophisticated but modern vibe. The outdoor seating area was gorgeous. We were sat in the sofas in the middle which were comfy. Service was fantastic. The dishes recommended by the server were all 5 stars-unique flavors and cooked perfectly. We ordered the everything rolls which were to die for-I'm a sucker for a fresh baked soft bread. The butter spread was also delicious. I was surprised by how big and tasty the market salad was! Grilled prawns and truffle gnocchi also a big hit, but my favorite by far was the pork chop. Cooked perfectly, it was so tender with a glaze that was to die for. I will definitely be thinking about this restaurant until the next time I'm in Los Angeles.
We were here for DineLA. I'm gonna be like an old person and say how I remember when you could get a 3 course meal at DineLA for $25-$25. Alas, times have changed. This DineLA menu was $65, which is pretty steep. I mean, the food is good - I got the sea bass and the tuna as an appetizer (the tuna in particular was generous with portions), with what feels like a peach trifle for dessert, and my partner got a salad and gnocchi, which she enjoyed. But.... $65 for pasta and a salad is quite steep. Service is great, and they give you pao de queijo as the complimentary house bread. There was also something weird going on with our table - it was on a slope or something, so I was sitting really low, sort of looking up at my partner....it just felt a bit off. I think all the tables on that side of the room were like that. They give you a little check tag for your leftovers if you pack them. Bathrooms are gendered and multistalled (so many stalls). Parking can be tricky since it's Little Tokyo. I believe they have valet, but you can also park in one of the many lots in Little Tokyo. Just be prepared to pay for it unless you're lucky enough to find street parking.
Beautiful restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. Actually walking distance from the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.. Beautiful setting beautiful green room with glass ceiling. Very airy . Great service... almost too much.! The only thing that could have been better with the halibut was overcooked and over salty. Everything else with extra extraordinary ! Especially the bait feather, which was delicious with a light Verde sauce and vegetables on top. The carrots in a creamy yogurt sauce were the highlight of the whole entire meal. ! Sautéed and lightly seasoned they were perfection . Open bar and incredible wine list . Very enjoyable .
The ambiance alone is worth the reservation. Redbird is tucked inside the former rectory of the historic Vibiana cathedral, it's one of the most beautiful restaurant spaces I've been to in LA. Between the courtyard, candlelight, lush greenery, and beautiful architecture, the whole place invites you to just slow down and really enjoy the company you're with. Chef Neal Fraser knew what he was doing. We ordered the Everything Parker Rolls, Kombu-Cured Hamachi (truly so flavorful), Black Cod, and the Lemongrass Ribs (super yum!!). Everything was amazing. Everything. The Parker Rolls with the date butter and the Black Cod were both so lovely. If it's your first visit and you have tastebuds, I'd definitely order both. The service matched the atmosphere perfectly. Everyone was warm and attentive. Valet was also very nice in DTLA. A special place for a special night with a special person. read more

Came to Redbird over the weekend as we were celebrating a birthday. First impressions walking in, the staff was super friendly and I really liked how the bar was both inside and outside. Highly recommend paying for valet, as street parking is tough to find on the weekends. As for the food let's get into it: - Kombucha-Cured Hamachi (8/10) It's hard to mess up on a crudo, but this was a great start to the meal. - Garganelli (8.5/10) Pasta was cooked perfectly, had a nice kick/spice to it. Could easily eat two bowls of this. - Steak and Frites (8.5/10) Steak was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was delicious. Slightly pricey but I get it. Overall, I'd say it was a great dining experience as the service is the real reason for the 5 stars. Place might be a little pricey, but worth try once at least. Would I go again? Yes! read more

Los Angeles RoadTrip Episode 5 Spinning like a girl in a brand new dress.. We have this big wide city all to ourselves.. We blocked the noise with the sound of "I need you".. And right there where we stood was holy ground.. Sitting, on holy ground (Frmr. Cathedral Bldg.), at the "Redbird".. We drank cold glasses of luscious Chardonnay... The Lass ate a "Grilled Branzino" perfectly cooked..but, somewhat sad, that the sauce the maitre d kindly poured on the Fish, softened the crisp skin. (in the old days, you would be flogged for that..:). All in all it was enjoyable. The Lad, ate a Wagyu Burger, that was superbly seasoned and cooked.."Rare-Med.-Rare" juicy deliciousness, This Burger was the most unctuous burger ever tackled in these Americas..:) Then dropping out of the sky on to our table (by friends) was a plate of "Caramelised Banana French Toast"...Yes, nicely sweet, just missing whip cream (it's 5'O'clock somewhere..:) A very pleasant relaxing restaurant with great grub too.. There are some restaurants in this city that prioritize ambiance over the cuisine. And there are other restaurants that do both exceptionally well. Redbird is one of these restaurants. Cuisine: 5/5. Want a superb brunch that prioritizes the palate - AND provides a beautiful backdrop for pictures? Look no further. Duck Confit Chilaquiles, Basque Baked Eggs, and the Caramelized Banana French Toast all smack your taste buds silly with mouthwatering flavor. Beverages: 5/5. "The Redeye" should serve as a model for a well done whiskey cocktail. Cold brew gives it an energizing kick. This isn't on the menu currently, but I hope they bring it back for the fall/winter season. Service: 5/5. Attentive. Friendly. Down to earth. Solid. Ambiance: 5/5. I never really make it to DTLA anymore but if one does, Redbird is pretty great for an intimate dinner, drinks at the bar, celebration with friends, etc. Their menu is pretty solid and they seem to do their basics very well. The porkchop was my favorite. The lamb shank was decent and the curry sauce was excellent. The pastas and salads are always on the mark. What they also do well are cocktails, classic and new fusion and love the night cap menu where they seal a cocktail for you to-go. The wine and desserts are pretty mediocre. Better to just get another cocktail in my opinion. I found the service wonderful. Efficient and friendly. They are run by professionals, which are hard to find these days. The thing I really enjoyed was the atmosphere, especially in the main dining room with open roof. Really sets the ambiance apart from other restaurants. read more

First time here for brunch. We tried a little bit of everything and the valet parking is a bonus so you don't have to worry about where to park. We tried the amazing BLD RICOTTA BLUEBERRY PANCAKES. They were huge and delicious!! The WEISER PEE WEE POTATOES, was ok, love the TARTINE,house cured salmon, avocado, blistered tomato, watermelon radish, everything seasoning, fennel pollen, my favorite. Visited here to celebrate my birthday on a Friday night. It is located in DTLA near little tokyo. We did valet parking as it is difficult to find a street parking on wknds. The restaurant has great ambiance with different moods inside and outside. We made a reservation at 7pm yet we weren't seated until around 7:30pm which I was not happy about. I think they might have overbooked for the night for dineLA. Even after seated, it took a quiet amount of time for our server to arrive. We ordered our dishes and drinks together yet drinks were served much after the appetizers were served which was a bit disappointment as I like to enjoy my foods with the drinks. I got a drink called fruitarian (if I remember correctly) and it was fruity and sweet which I liked. - Everything parker rolls - date butter on warm parker rolls is to die for. Definitely recommend getting one and sharing for the table - Dungeness crab - probably my favorite dish of the night. Greatly flavored yet not heavy. Great appetizer - Garganelli - was okay but didn't find anything too special. I think you can skip it - Pork chop - Recommended! Pork chop was perfectly cooked. It was so soft and tender. 5/5: I came here for my birthday, and the food was delicious! We sat outside. It's such a beautiful yard and there's a ton of shade. The staff were all very kind and attentive, always asking how we were doing and offering us more water. Only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was their Peewee Potatoes and their Avocado Salad (blue cheese flavor was overpowering). It was still an amazing dinner, and I loved every other item. Been coming to Redbird for years for the elevated cuisine and quality cocktails. Plus the ambiance, which, unfortunately, you are no longer to eat in the gardens. Definitely should be this aspect of the restaurant back as it really set it apart. That being said, they always have a DineLA menu, and this time around it really felt worth it. So grabbed a few people and off to Redbird we went! Had a reservation but, like many establishments, you won't be seated until your entire party is present. So, once everyone arrived, we were seated and started out with some cocktails. One of the staple drinks at Redbird, which isn't necessarily on the menu anymore, is the Cardinal Punch, which has a bourbon base with amaro, roasted roasted orange, clove and some other ingredients. To me, just a well crafted cocktail and one of my favorites in Los Angeles by far. When you visit, absolutely ask for a Cardinal Punch. Your mouth will thank you later. DineLA came with a three course menu, with multiple options for appetizers, entrees and desserts. For appetizers, we tried the dungeness crab and the beef tartare. The tartare came on top of a potato rosti, giving a firm, crispy base to pair with the softness of the tartare on top. There were also caramelized onions and egg. So much going on with each bite and so good. The dungeness crab was paired with melon, tofu, a little chili oil and some masago arare for a crunchy element. This may have been everyones' favorite appetizer, just so flavorful and intricate. For entrees, we all tried something different. The lamb belly was cooked perfectly with some smoked eggplant and yogurt. It does have that "gamey" flavor, but was so tender and juicy, just fell apart when you bit it. The California sea bass came with mussels, fennel and a tomato saffron broth. Perfectly crispy skin to go with the softness of the meat, and the broth was delicious. The hanger steak had a guajilo rub on it and came with yukon potatoes and corn salsa. Again, perfectly cooked and flavorful. Finally, dessert. The "Peaches and Cream" came presented in a glass and was light and refreshing. Almost like a peaches and cream sponge cake. The mocha cream puff had a chocolate ganache and cocoa nibs giving a little texture to the bite. The desserts were decent but forgettable. Overall, always a great meal at Redbird, and the drinks never disappoint. Service is top notch and the ambiance is clean and upscale. They still need to resume dining in the gardens but, until then, a great restaurant in Los Angeles. read more

This restaurant is a stunner! From the dining room, restroom and their other private event spaces. We checked out their DineLA menu and the food was phenomenal ($65pp). We understood now how this restaurant was recognized by the Michelin Guide California. Amazing customer service. Valet was $15. Started off with cocktails. CASSANDRO (tequila, lime, grapefruit cordial, saline, carbonation, supplemental charge 14) Nogada (if you like mezcal, highly recommend) Appetizers - we loved both! Visited Rebdird with a larger group. Was happy to get reservations that same day (although a bit later in the evening). You walk into the white building and get vibes. Apparently the building used to be a cathedral. Most tables appear to be outside- I thought we were dining on a rooftop based on their website and marketing but we did not dine on a rooftop. We were on a corner table with little lighting and a menu with tiny font. FUN! The service was great throughout the entire dinner. Our waitress made confident recommendations which we always appreciate. Alright. The food. We had a few items. We started with the everything parker rolls with date butter- generally ok, the date butter was really good. And, the shishito peppers with crispy quinoa- I love shishito peppers, but this batch had one too many spicy ones. For the larger dishes we had the: Grilled Lamb Belly- it was ok, it had too much fregola (pearl pasta) taking away from all the other delicious flavors in the dish (labneh, mint and nectarine), it lacked balance. Roasted Rainbow Carrots, these were good but I've had much better elsewhere Heritage Pork Chop - One of the winner dishes, larger portion, would recommend sharing. As I said Redbird was a last-minute reservation. It did the job for the night. A place to eat that would have room for 5. However, I would not go back. What a nice surprise to have an opportunity to dine at RedBird in Histroric DTLA. The Spanish villa style entrance is inviting. You enter the doorway and then greeted by a doorman who guides you into the dining area. The restaurant is upscale and sophisticated. The vibe in the bar and lounge area makes you loose track of time. It is a place you want to hang out and socialize. The main part of the restaurant, in the center, is open roof or glass covered. Plenty of sunlight comes into the dining courtyard. The host and wait staff are very professional and accommodating for guest needs. I can tell you that the food and alcohol are fantastic. I enjoyed a "No Country for Old Men". This non-alcoholic beverage did not dissapoint. It looked like and had the body of bourbon beverage. Even the taste tricked the taste buds. The grilled prawns and beef tartar were very flavorful. The portion of Branzino was very generous and the broth was fullnof flavor. Beautiful restaurant with al fresco dining and uplifting interior decoration. My girlfriend booked a reservation for brunch for 4 on a Sunday. There was availability within 2 weeks which is convenient. There is valet parking for $15, parking lots at $8-$12, and metered street parking. The service was great from beginning to end. Very attentive, timely, and friendly. We ordered the baked eggs, fish sandwich, duck confit chilaquiles, blueberry pancakes, and bacon. The chilaquiles was different from chilaquiles elsewhere, but generally good. The duck was tender. The baked eggs had mixed reviews from our party, it had a lot of strong flavor. The fish sandwich was juicy and crispy. The blueberry pancakes had mixed reviews from it party as well. And we all thought the bacon was hard. I went to Redbird for a corporate event, so I didn't see much of the normal dining room. They had us on a separate floor with a private dining room and portable bar. There was even a great patio. We came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. I reserved the patio area which was very lovely. The weather was a little windy and cloudy. The server was nice enough to turn out the heater for us. I love the ambiance as it has both and inside outside feel. The details of the old window is the rectory made the place nostalgic and romantic. I ordered a glass of red and my boyfriend had a glass of mocktail, old fashion. We were served some cheese balls which were warm and moist. For our appetizer, we had the mussels with a very delicious sauce. There were bits of crunchy baguette that made the dish very delish. The mussels were fat and juicy. Love it. For entree, we shared the T bone, medium. The meat was perfectly cooked with the nice au juice. We ordered a side broccolini which made the meal complete. Since it's his birthday, the server brought out a bday cake with chocolate ganache and crispy honeycomb. We also ordered the earl grey dulce de tres. We enjoyed this restaurant. DineLA Jan/Feb 2025 I'll start with parking. I didn't go for Valet - instead, I went to the underground parking lot on S Los Angeles, across from the Peking Tavern. Unattended. Clean. Well lit. $8 Walked the 4 minutes past the library and up 2nd to Redbird. If you're like me and get there early (before they opened), look for the iron gates. Up the small flight of stairs on the left. If they're open, you'll see the valet station and valet. Saw that when I left. Arrived early but was invited to have a seat in the front bar/lounge area while they set up. Service was also offered. Had one drink - Key to the City. Loved it enough that I ordered another during dinner. Ordered the following off the DineLA menu: Hamachi Crudo Beef Tartare Black Truffle Cavatelli Creamsicle Baked Alaska Tiramisu Truffle Don Flamenco (cocktail) Ordered more off the regular menu: Avocado Salad Key to the City (cocktail - 2x) See pics of the food and drinks. I enjoyed every dish and the Key to the City cocktail. The Don Flamenco didn't quite meet my expectations. Not awful, but I would never order it again. It was muted but not watered down. Not so awful that I didn't finish it. As for the food, all dishes were clear except for the dessert. Was just too full to lick the plate clean. Trying to describe the setting cannot do the venue any justice. You have to just see for yourself. It really is a sight to see. And this is one place I'll definitely go to see again. read more
When walking up it's like walking up to an old cathedral, which is exactly what this was. There is indoor and outdoor seating (with a retractable roof) so there's space for everyone. Our server was friendly and welcoming and helpful as was everyone that we encountered. The ambience was nice but not stuffy. The restroom was neat with lots of mirrors. Celebrated here for my good friend's birthday the other night and we all opted in for the Dine La 2025 experience menu. For $65, the meal comes with an appetizer, entree, and dessert. There is variety of dishes to choose from, but some are an extra cost. I got the Manila clams, Hanger steak, and the Creamsicle baked Alaska. I must say that I didn't expect the clams to be that tasty. The soup it comes with tastes very savory. No sand in their clams so they cleaned that shit good before cooking, 5/5. The hanger steak was cooked perfectly medium rare. Very tender and juicy. The onion sauce was a good combo with the steak. The dessert was a home run for me. Jesus, I killed it so fast and the portion is pretty decent. The orange ice cream on the bottom was tarty and delicious. The cream was smoky. I would definitely come back for that damn dessert, lol. How is the store operating during Covid?
Tables in the three courtyards and in the garden, and very very limited seating in the main dining room. Very well distanced.
Where is the best sitting?
The best sitting definitely has to be REDBIRD GARDEN. It's beautiful greenery, lighting, and feels secluded away from the city.
Can a minor be present at happy hour?
Yes. Happy hour is at any of their dining spaces so it's just like a reg dinner taking place.
What's the parking situation?
There's valet for I think $12 or $15 (sorry couldn't remember) and there's self park if you keep going east on 2nd, past Redbird and South Los Angeles St for half the price.
Is the outdoor area covered in case of rain?
Yes, the roof in the courtyard is retractable so if it is raining the roof will be closed.
