Honestly, these five stars really go to our server, Michael. My parents previously visited Encanto for the first time, but they had a terrible experience. They told me their server was arrogant and rude to them, which didn't make me want to visit. They decided to give it another chance on Father's Day. We were sat about 20 minutes after our scheduled reservation which wasn't the best start (they were waiting on another party to leave) but the staff was very friendly about it, plus our entire party hadn't arrived. Once we were sat, Michael introduced himself and made the entire experience feel smooth and enjoyable. My parents LOVE cracking jokes and he was super sweet the entire time. He helped with questions about the menu and even suggested a few drinks depending on what everyone was feeling. The food was filling and flavorful, and our party of 6 left feeling happy and with a great, new impression of Encanto.

Decided to come here for lunch in October because I saw their menu online and they have good fish that caught my attention. It was 2pm so we got a good parking at the back of the restaurant designated for Encanto customers only. Got there and the server told us they only have brunch menu. I was disappointed because it was already 2pm and I wasn't in the mood for avocado toast and eggs Benedict I usually eat for breakfast. I was so hungry so we decided to stay and check the menu. We got their $45 per person brunch that has mixed fruits, corn bread & smoked salmon shared plate and I got lobster Benedict for my main. It was upsetting that flies were everywhere and even went to our food waiting before they served it. The service is okay, they were not very attentive when we needed something. The food wasn't bad, but I don't think I'd wanna come back.

This spot has been on our list to try for a while, and I'm glad we finally made it in. The atmosphere is such a vibe, somehow both homey and edgy at the same time. We lucked out and snagged two seats at the bar on a Friday a little after 5 p.m., which ended up being perfect. It wasn't overly crowded but had just the right amount of energy. The drinks were excellent, high quality, beautifully presented, and definitely one of the highlights of the visit. We ordered the shrimp fajitas, which were delicious. The salsas were packed with flavor, and the fresh tortillas really elevated the dish. I'd recommend ordering the fajitas as an individual meal rather than sharing. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. It took quite a while to receive menus and be acknowledged. Our bartender seemed very disengaged, there was no greeting, no small talk, and the interaction felt pretty transactional. I even asked for his name, it was unique, but I completely forgot it. Something with a C or K? One of the other bartenders stopped by to check on us and was much more personable and welcoming. There also seemed to be an odd dynamic behind the bar. The staff didn't appear to interact much with one another, which created a slightly uncomfortable vibe. That said, the food, drinks, and atmosphere were strong enough that I'd absolutely give this place another shot. I won't let one service experience stop me from coming back to explore more of the menu.

I walked into Encanto already in a bit of a mood, and honestly, my experience almost didn't start off great. When I made my reservation on OpenTable, there was no option to choose indoor vs. outdoor seating. When we arrived, they tried to seat us outside--three small tables right on the street, and unfortunately there was a homeless person right next to them. That wasn't the vibe, so I declined. They let us know there were seats available at the bar and about a 30-minute wait for a table. We decided to grab a drink and look over the menu, and thankfully a table opened up pretty quickly and they moved us over. I have to give a huge shoutout to who I believe was the manager (a pretty girl in cowgirl boots)--she really turned things around for us. Super accommodating and attentive. Our waitress, Rosa, was also great--friendly, efficient, and made us feel taken care of the whole time. Now the food... WOW. It looked good in photos, but I did not expect it to be this good. Every single dish was packed with flavor--like, you can actually taste different layers and seasoning in each bite. It's rare these days not to get food that just tastes the same or bland across the board, but this place absolutely delivers. We didn't like the churros, no sugar/cinnamon I had been eyeing this place for way too long. I wish I tried it sooner and I will definitely be back. No valet parking.

Found this place via inKind, looked great from the pics. Made a reservation for 7pm Sat, waited a bit to get seated. Waiter came over very fast. The guac, chips and salsa was good with free salsa re-fills. I did appreciate the bartender splitting the cocktail for us. Ceviches were good, my favorite was the creamy one with octopus. The tacos were the worst part of our meal, it did take a while to get them. The fish was ok but bland, the carve asada was burnt and tasted horrible. Overall is was ok experience.

The service was horrible. The waiter at the bar was not at all interested in working or providing food or service. Don't waste your hard earned money on this place!

    Tuna Tartare

It was my first time at Encanto months ago but just coming around for a review. I absolutely loved loved loved the Tuna Tartare on my first visit amazing to say the least! The bloody Mary beautiful presentation but was little over on salt for my liking. They have a great happy hour second time I came to visit for the Tartare again but I was not sure if I may have ordered something else because it tasted a little different but might have been me. The Happy Hour tacos were delicious though will be returning for the Tartare again I love it!

Not usually one to write a review but thought this one was warranted. I've actually been here before, about a year ago, for drinks and the experience was great. I came over the holiday weekend with a friend for drinks and dinner. This time, not so great. First of all, it being the holiday, the restaurant was not busy with 3-4 servers on the floor. We took the bar and proceeded to wait 15-20 minutes to even be greeted by the bartender. The couple next to us gave us their menus. After finally being approached, we were asked if we wanted water which we did. We never got them. At this point, I found the manager on the floor and asked to be moved to a table. The manager was kind enough and offered free chips and guacamole. Our new server was fantastic. Our drinks and seafood platter as an app were good. Then we get to the meal. We ordered the skirt steak fajitas to share. Mind you, the price was $38. I was in shock when I saw the portion size. Truly unbelievable also considering the cook wasn't spot on (we ordered med rare) and we basically ate corn tortillas with grilled onions. We ended up spending way too much money and eating a few hours later. This is a great spot for a drink (recommend a table over the bar from our experience) and apps. A spot for dinner I would reconsider.

    Lobster Eggs Benedict

Had a great experience at Encanto. The service was great, and the food was just as good as it looked! We got the $45/pp brunch and it was totally worth it. Lots of different starters were brought out, and then we each ordered an entree of our preference. I got the Lobster Eggs Benedict, and would highly recommend it! The only downer was their coffee/drink menu. They don't have the equipment/flavors/dairy to make a simple vanilla latte. They only have black coffee and cream. But, hopefully they will work on that.

We accidentally bought concert tickets at The Greek on MOTHER'S DAY so we were faced with finding dinner on Mother's day before the concert lol. We came to Encanto and OMG I'm so glad we did, it's amazing and I would recommend everyone to stop by just wow! We had reservations and asked to sit outside because it was a beautiful day. Like the restaurant was very nice don't get me wrong, but when we arrived it was like a mother's day brunch just ran a train through the dining room so the staff was dealing with the aftermath of that. It was still very nice and I really want to go back for som merch, my husband wants to buy a glass so I know we'll be back. We were sat and our drinks were delivered pretty fast and the food started coming just after that - so we were very satisfied with how the staff could keep up after their brunch rush. We were all super happy with our dishes and sharing across the table, I think at least one of us licked a plate or 2.

Garden Margarita - fresh, little bit of spice and delicious!
    Jeannie K.

I visited Encanto for the first time yesterday for happy hour at the bar. Highly recommend! We started with the $10 (!!!) margaritas and the guacamole off the regular menu. Both were great, especially the garden margarita -- fresh, slight kick of spice and refreshing. We then got the fish tacos off the happy hour menu and WOW they were fantastic. So much so that we ordered four more! Because of happy hour prices we were pleasantly surprised at the $114 total for 3 margaritas, one beer, an appetizer and six tacos. We will definitely be back!

Literally nothing to complain about. The host and waiters were great! Service was so top notch - jokes, recommendations and suggestions were alll awesome. They even played my type of music so of course I graced everyone with a show (if they paid any attention ) Anyways, we got mostly small plates - guacamole, chips and salsa, Chorizo queso fondido, Crispy papas with aioli, friend chicken skewered (not pictures) and aqua chilies (also not pictures). All of it was filling and shared between 3 people . Drinks were the favorite aside from the papas. They were made perfectly - slightly strong. Wished I would have tried the whole menu. Great combo.

This was a really tasty brew and my favorite of the two! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=ad_C9YTJYF9lVr2FOEQLkg 12" Margherita Pizza ($20.00 HH; Reg. $26.00): A simple pizza with a somewhat thin crust that was kind of cardboardy, the flavor was rather pedestrian with chewy mozzarella although the basil was fragrant and fresh. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=kdkvUttCLmMOAGQ1nyp5tg Figueroa Mountain Brewing Co. After a few minutes of reviewing the menu, we each placed our order at the bar, our drinks were delivered quickly while the food took mere minutes to arrive at the table. We had to approach the bar each time we ordered something, but any empty glasses and plates were collected at the table. Once we closed out our tabs, we were thanked for coming as we headed out into the night. Everything was chill and easy - thank you! PARKING (Varied; FREE this instance): I parked in the nearby original Glendale Galleria parking structure and simply walked over first to The Americana then to this place. Otherwise, there was limited parking along the main drag of Brand Blvd. and other surrounding side streets, the nearby Glendale Galleria II parking structure, The Americana parking structure that offered validation, numerous public transportation options, and rideshares - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A dark cavernous speakeasy-like place with open space, various tables and couches strewn about, and a large long somewhat decorative bar with an impressive whiskey selection displayed behind it. I appreciated the exposed brick walls which gave it that old-time feel with a few framed pictures hung on them. Minimal natural lighting came through the front doors and windows while minimal electric ceiling lights filled in rest. There was at least one projection TV where we watched the Dodgers game while music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=SomLKsk1KVcemeOCHGOZfg ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL It was nice to slip into The Famous Bar for the first time in over a decade, and if I found myself spending time in downtown Glendale again, I'd consider another visit. Sadly, I try to avoid the highly congested area as much as possible. I loved the fact that they had a daily happy hour (4pm-7pm) and late-night SU-TH happy hours (10:30pm-close), so there was always a deal to be found. The drinks were the main reason you came, while the food was just an add-on. The prices were elevated, but you had a good menu selection of libations (nice local craft beer list) to choose from. The customer service was easy, friendly, and straightforward. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $42.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... This spot opened about a year ago, and has a cool speakeasy style entrance at the Highland Park Bowl bowling alley. It is a small space, and I would highly recommend making a reservation on Resy. You have 90 minutes to drink and dine. I parked behind the bowling alley where there is a medium sized pay parking lot. Park in a space, remember your space number painted on the ground, and go to the pay station at the end of the lot. I found the parking machine to be extremely finicky as did other people. After ten minutes of failure, I ended up moving my car to another space, and then it worked. This has nothing to do with the Lucky Tiki, but FYI if you park there. We walked around to the front of the bowling alley, and checked in. Seating options include at the bar, tiki hut booths, and high top tables. The décor inside is a tiki lovers paradise. The room has a high ceiling with many tiki lamps, floats, puffer fish, tiki huts, thatch, ropes, barrels, netting, carvings, a hanging canoe, and a large tiki right in the middle of the space. In addition to the great décor, when you order certain drinks, special effects are triggered. There was also great tiki music playing all evening. We sat at the bar since we always enjoy talking to the bartenders. We actually ran into Skipper Christian in the parking lot on the way in, and he ended up being our main bartender, with Nick and Jo also working behind the bar. We put in a food order right away. The chicken potstickers ($12) came with five tasty bites, and the garlic teriyaki dipping sauce was good. We also had the giant pretzel ($16) which comes with mustard, beer cheese, and ranch sauces. This was excellent, and the perfect filling snack before a bunch of drinks. My first drink was the Siren's Song (Flor de Cana Eco rum, lemon juice, cassis, Oloroso sherry, apricot foam topper, $19). This drink is served in a great mermaid with skull mug and triggers special sound effects and bubbles fill the air. Those bubbles on top of the drink had a great light citrusy apricot flavor, probably the best flavored bubbles I've ever had. The drink itself was very good and balanced with some complexity. She wasn't sure what to order at first, and Christian asked her what flavors she liked. He ended up making a spin on a Tradewinds with some mango and pineapple to go along with the apricot and coconut. It was nicely balanced and not too sweet, even with all that fruit in there. My second drink was the Sun of Suns (Tierra de Acre mezcal, coconut cream, Giffard mango liqueur, pineapple juice, lime juice, $17). This was coconut and pineapple forward with some good smokiness in the background. Her second drink was the Whatever Floats Your Boat (Ford's gin, lemon juice, velvet falernum, orgeat, passion fruit syrup, guava soda, topped with hazelnut passion fruit foam, $19). It is served in a cool boat mug, and triggers thunder sound effects and lighted mechanical Polynesian tiki characters paddling a canoe over the bar. This was another good balanced drink. It was a little gin forward and the passion fruit popped out, maybe from being both in the drink and the foam top. That creamy hazelnut passion fruit form on top is delicious. I'd happily have a glass of that on its own. We were still a little hungry so we ordered the Hawaiian pizza (marinara, diced pepperoni, red onion, pineapple chunks, hot capicola ham, $16). It was another good tasting, perfectly sized snack, and the crust was light and airy. We were already fifteen minutes over our time limit, but we got the green light to stay longer to order a third drink to share. We ordered the Tiki Diablo (Flor de Cana Eco rum, Worthy Park 109 rum, Alma Tepecha chile liqueur, orange juice, lime juice, mango syrup, guava soda, $24). This drink serves two people, is served in a cool volcano bowl with glowing red lava around it, and comes with a fire show. Unfortunately, right after it was served, the host came over and said we were over our time and had to leave shortly. Christian made up for it by giving us two tall pours to go enjoy in the bowling alley bar area which was fine. We were happy we got some extra time inside. The drink was also very good, balanced with a little complexity. We had a great time. There is so much great décor to look at. The drinks and food were very good, and some of the the drink presentations and special effects were the icing on the cake. All of the bartenders were very friendly and a lot of fun. We purchased up a few zombie glasses to take home as a souvenir. I'd definitely recommend visiting the Lucky Tiki in Highland Park!

I didn't fancy the flavor and this is a very popular drink so it stinks up the place every time it gets served to someone. Dark Magic $18 - Objectively not a bad drink but too tart for my partner and I didn't prefer the flavor. Service 5/5 Standard service. Our waitress got us some free shots, very kind. :) Ambiance 4/5 I love the vibes, the darkness, the decor. It's just too stinky and smokey whenever they serve the Painkiller.

I have been to Momed a few times; this is my first review for the location. We came on a Sunday for brunch; our hostess sat us quickly in the surprisingly bare restaurant with several families filling the airy patio. The restaurant is remarkably open, family, and dog-friendly, with lots of space to wander. Welcoming us at the entrance was the chef's dog, Marshmallow, who sported a fluffy white coat and welcomed many pets and ear scratches. 5/5 service, Marshmallow! On seating we received a delicious appetizer gratis - a layered, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside bread with soft herbed butter and a raspberry sauce - which was delicious. Following was the Whipped Feta ($22) - a light, airy spreadable cheese elevated with sweet honey and cut by tart, blistered cherry tomatoes, served alongside home baked pita bread with a eminently fluffy interior. The curious patron can see the bread being freshly baked in a large open oven by the entrance. Following I had the Shakshuka ($25), a delectable dish of tart tomatoes and herbaceous red peppers, moderated by creamy feta and two rich, poached eggs, fresh from the oven in a cast iron skillet. As a typical carnivore who normally shies away from dishes featuring vegetables, I was surprised by how much I loved this; as a uniquely Maghrebi dish that's hard to find, I highly recommend anyone visiting Momed try the Shakshuka. My spouse got the Cleopatra salad ($23) which she is still raving about many hours later. Perfectly selected pieces of crisp butterleaf lettuce, sweet dates, creamy feta, crossed with crispy dukkah and a tarte sherry vinaigrette, all taste buds were engaged for a perfect salad. We concluded by sharing a chocolate mousse with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream ($14) which was as good as it sounds. The service was friendly and warm, with our waiter stopping by frequently to refill our waters on the blisteringly hot day, and accommodating our group's thirsty dog. Special credit should be given to Momed for maximizing the space they were working with. While situated in a flat neighborhood adjacent to light industry, complete with railroad tracks behind the restaurant, the interior is more Riad - a courtyard garden - with countless plants, lots of shade, and wicker furniture reminiscent of tropical plants and palms. Prices, above, are a little elevated but reasonable for the quality of the food provided. The Moroccan word for Paradise is "Al-Janna", which directly translates as "the Garden". By elevating the most modest parts of the garden - tomatoes, pepper, cheese, and bread - Momed offers unique, delectable food worthy of a garden paradise, and has my highest recommendation. Location 4 stars: On Casitas Avenue in a somewhat unexpected residential area in Atwater Village, North of where the 2 and 5 freeways meet. Parking is not difficult. There is limited parking spots upfront but also a large parking lot and Valet parking. Venue 4 stars: Beautiful rustic upscale venue with indoor and outdoor tables and a full bar. Service 4 stars: Friendly, attentive, efficient and helpful staff. Food 4 stars: You can order individually or share a few small and large plates as a group. The theme is modern and eclectic Mediterranean and North African. We ordered the following appetizers and shared them among our group: Muhammara, Meatballs and Octopus Carpaccio. We also ordered the following main plates: Beef Shishlik, Whole Branzino and Prime Short Rib Tagine. For dessert, we ordered the Chocolate & Halva Sundae and the Tiramisu. Everything we had was creative, used fresh ingredients, was nicely plated, and tasted wonderful. Prices are on the higher side, as expected for an upscale restaurant. Drinks 4 stars: Full bar: Creative specialty cocktails, spirits, beer, wine and soft drinks. We had the Pornstar and the White Negroni specialty cocktails. Both were very good. Again, prices are on the higher side, as expected for an upscale restaurant.
