Everything was seasoned beautifully and cooked to perfection. The fish and oysters were fresh and the drinks were damn good. We also got the charred skirt steak with papas, and it was super tender and delicious. Unfortunately, I forgot to snap a pic because we devoured it so fast. My only tiny critique is that the Kona Kanpachi could've used a little more flavor, but the fish was so fresh and vibrant that I didn't mind. My family and I decided to stop by Encanto Restaurant while in the area. We took a rideshare there. The restaurant is nice. It's has a large bar area with natural light that comes in through the windows. They also have a lot of seating. When we walked in we were greeted right away by the host. He asked if we had reservations. We replied with a no. He took a few minutes and the said that he could seat us. He took us to a booth in the corner and then told us that our waiter would be taking care of us soon. He asked us if we wanted anything to drink. We told him water and he brought us some water fairly quickly. Then another person showed up and he told us that they would take care of us the rest of the evening. Our waiter was very friendly and did an excellent job all evening. After looking at the menu we decided what we wanted. We started with the guacamole chips and salsa. The chips were okay. They were lightly seasoned with salt. The guacamole was fresh and the salsas were tasty. I preferred the green salsa as the red salsa was spicier. For my main meal I ordered the Quesadilla filled with skirt steak, pico, avocado, salsa, and crema. The quesadilla was delicious. I've never had a quesadilla like this. It was rolled up and looked like an egg roll. The steak was very tasty with a lot of flavor and the other ingredients were fresh. It was so good. For my side I ordered the rice and beans. The beans were good and had flavor. The rice was perfectly cooked. Combined the rice and beans had flavor and were very filling. Overall Encanto was a very nice restaurant. Came here on a Saturday night, and it wasn't too busy. We did have a reservation, but there were about five or so tables open at any given time. Got the guava margarita with Mezcal , which was pretty good! Definite recommend. But then got the Branzino, $48 with nothing with it so $7 for rice & it was a miss. How do you serve fish with no sides? Especially if I'm paying $48. Service was good for our waiter, but the people bringing out the food were a bit rushed - especially on dessert. He literally just put the plate down, poured the sauce and then left in the span of two seconds. Vibe was good if you're coming for an intimate but quiet place -- however considering the price we wouldn't come back. Honestly, these five stars really go to our server, Michael. My parents previously visited Encanto for the first time, but they had a terrible experience. They told me their server was arrogant and rude to them, which didn't make me want to visit. They decided to give it another chance on Father's Day. We were sat about 20 minutes after our scheduled reservation which wasn't the best start (they were waiting on another party to leave) but the staff was very friendly about it, plus our entire party hadn't arrived. Once we were sat, Michael introduced himself and made the entire experience feel smooth and enjoyable. My parents LOVE cracking jokes and he was super sweet the entire time. He helped with questions about the menu and even suggested a few drinks depending on what everyone was feeling. Decided to come here for lunch in October because I saw their menu online and they have good fish that caught my attention. It was 2pm so we got a good parking at the back of the restaurant designated for Encanto customers only. Got there and the server told us they only have brunch menu. I was disappointed because it was already 2pm and I wasn't in the mood for avocado toast and eggs Benedict I usually eat for breakfast. I was so hungry so we decided to stay and check the menu. We got their $45 per person brunch that has mixed fruits, corn bread & smoked salmon shared plate and I got lobster Benedict for my main. It was upsetting that flies were everywhere and even went to our food waiting before they served it. The service is okay, they were not very attentive when we needed something. This spot has been on our list to try for a while, and I'm glad we finally made it in. The atmosphere is such a vibe, somehow both homey and edgy at the same time. We lucked out and snagged two seats at the bar on a Friday a little after 5 p.m., which ended up being perfect. It wasn't overly crowded but had just the right amount of energy. The drinks were excellent, high quality, beautifully presented, and definitely one of the highlights of the visit. We ordered the shrimp fajitas, which were delicious. The salsas were packed with flavor, and the fresh tortillas really elevated the dish. I'd recommend ordering the fajitas as an individual meal rather than sharing. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. It took quite a while to receive menus and be acknowledged. Our bartender seemed very disengaged, there was no greeting, no small talk, and the interaction felt pretty transactional. I even asked for his name, it was unique, but I completely forgot it. Something with a C or K? One of the other bartenders stopped by to check on us and was much more personable and welcoming. There also seemed to be an odd dynamic behind the bar. The staff didn't appear to interact much with one another, which created a slightly uncomfortable vibe. That said, the food, drinks, and atmosphere were strong enough that I'd absolutely give this place another shot. I walked into Encanto already in a bit of a mood, and honestly, my experience almost didn't start off great. When I made my reservation on OpenTable, there was no option to choose indoor vs. outdoor seating. When we arrived, they tried to seat us outside--three small tables right on the street, and unfortunately there was a homeless person right next to them. That wasn't the vibe, so I declined. They let us know there were seats available at the bar and about a 30-minute wait for a table. We decided to grab a drink and look over the menu, and thankfully a table opened up pretty quickly and they moved us over. I have to give a huge shoutout to who I believe was the manager (a pretty girl in cowgirl boots)--she really turned things around for us. Super accommodating and attentive. Our waitress, Rosa, was also great--friendly, efficient, and made us feel taken care of the whole time. Now the food... WOW. It looked good in photos, but I did not expect it to be this good. Every single dish was packed with flavor--like, you can actually taste different layers and seasoning in each bite. It's rare these days not to get food that just tastes the same or bland across the board, but this place absolutely delivers. We didn't like the churros, no sugar/cinnamon I had been eyeing this place for way too long. I wish I tried it sooner and I will definitely be back. No valet parking. read more

Found this place via inKind, looked great from the pics. Made a reservation for 7pm Sat, waited a bit to get seated. Waiter came over very fast. The guac, chips and salsa was good with free salsa re-fills. I did appreciate the bartender splitting the cocktail for us. Ceviches were good, my favorite was the creamy one with octopus. It was my first time at Encanto months ago but just coming around for a review. I absolutely loved loved loved the Tuna Tartare on my first visit amazing to say the least! The bloody Mary beautiful presentation but was little over on salt for my liking. They have a great happy hour second time I came to visit for the Tartare again but I was not sure if I may have ordered something else because it tasted a little different but might have been me. Not usually one to write a review but thought this one was warranted. I've actually been here before, about a year ago, for drinks and the experience was great. I came over the holiday weekend with a friend for drinks and dinner. This time, not so great. First of all, it being the holiday, the restaurant was not busy with 3-4 servers on the floor. We took the bar and proceeded to wait 15-20 minutes to even be greeted by the bartender. The couple next to us gave us their menus. After finally being approached, we were asked if we wanted water which we did. We never got them. At this point, I found the manager on the floor and asked to be moved to a table. The manager was kind enough and offered free chips and guacamole. Our new server was fantastic. Our drinks and seafood platter as an app were good. Then we get to the meal. We ordered the skirt steak fajitas to share. Mind you, the price was $38. I was in shock when I saw the portion size. Truly unbelievable also considering the cook wasn't spot on (we ordered med rare) and we basically ate corn tortillas with grilled onions. We ended up spending way too much money and eating a few hours later. This is a great spot for a drink (recommend a table over the bar from our experience) and apps. The only downer was their coffee/drink menu. They don't have the equipment/flavors/dairy to make a simple vanilla latte. They only have black coffee and cream. We accidentally bought concert tickets at The Greek on MOTHER'S DAY so we were faced with finding dinner on Mother's day before the concert lol. We came to Encanto and OMG I'm so glad we did, it's amazing and I would recommend everyone to stop by just wow! We had reservations and asked to sit outside because it was a beautiful day. Like the restaurant was very nice don't get me wrong, but when we arrived it was like a mother's day brunch just ran a train through the dining room so the staff was dealing with the aftermath of that. I visited Encanto for the first time yesterday for happy hour at the bar. Highly recommend! We started with the $10 (!!!) margaritas and the guacamole off the regular menu. Both were great, especially the garden margarita -- fresh, slight kick of spice and refreshing. We then got the fish tacos off the happy hour menu and WOW they were fantastic. So much so that we ordered four more! Because of happy hour prices we were pleasantly surprised at the $114 total for 3 margaritas, one beer, an appetizer and six tacos. They even played my type of music so of course I graced everyone with a show (if they paid any attention ) Anyways, we got mostly small plates - guacamole, chips and salsa, Chorizo queso fondido, Crispy papas with aioli, friend chicken skewered (not pictures) and aqua chilies (also not pictures). What a great place this is! Beautifully decorated and a great bar. Attentive and nice host, bartender and servers, great happy hour & creative cocktails. The food came out quick & was really good! We started with chips with guac and salsa. The chips were light and different than we have had at other places. We each had a taco which were both divine & my husband ordered the ceviche sampler. Im allergic to seafood, so didn't partake, but he thoroughly enjoyed it with enough to take home for another snack. The cocktails were beautifully done and quite tasty. We have driven past here a thousand times, & glad we had a bit of time to finally stop in and give it a try. I definitely recommend it if you haven't been,& enjoy Baja style cuisine. Met up with friends here on a Saturday at 1pm. It was a first time visit for all 3 of us and upon walking in we were shocked to see only 1 table occupied. Hillhurst was bustling and people were going in and out of Cafe Los Feliz, Little Dom's and other establishments in the vicinity but Encanto was EMPTY! While the website lists a lunch menu, it's important to read all the fine print because they do NOT offer the lunch menu on Saturdays. They were offering a Prix-fixe $45 brunch menu. When they sensed we were going to walk out the hostess told us we could order off the bar menu if we sat at the bar. We were already there so we just settled for sitting at the bar which wasn't ideal because even the "bar menu" at 1pm featured many brunch/breakfast items but we made it work. I ordered the crispy shrimp burrito because it was the least breakfasty item. It came with two salsas one of which was spicy and the other mild. The burrito was delicious. My friends both ordered the asada and eggs which looked great but both of them had to ask for sauce and/or salsa and they mentioned it would have been nice to have been served a tortilla. The bartender was friendly and made conversation with us. The aesthetic and design inside this restaurant is beautiful, it was mad men meets Mexico, but it would be great to see it filled with some more people with a lively ambiance. Clearly the brunch menu on Saturdays isn't working for them so hopefully they pivot to attract more patrons. By the time we finished our meal and left they still had not had a single customer enter the establishment so making us sit at the bar was quite wacky. Another thing they could possibly consider switching up to maybe attract more people to the place is the music. They blast the music outside on the sidewalk, in the entrance, all over the restaurant and in the restrooms, but upon walking up you notice the exterior areas area decorated outside with papel picado and knowing they offer Mexican inspired dishes on the menu I would expect the music to be reflective of those items as well. Maybe some Mana? Selena? Julieta Venegas? Cafe Tacuba? Instead we were listening to white people music from the 60's and 70's more fitting to a diner that serves burgers and milkshakes. There's simply nothing remarkable about this place to warrant the prices and it's a real bummer. We got the aguachile ceviche and the crab ceviche and both had a funkiness to them that left us barely eating it. The chips are even boring and barely salted. Then our giant steak (we got talked into getting from the waiter about how amazing it was) was probably the worst cut of meat I have had at a restaurant! I have had better cuts of meat from Target! We had to ask for salt and sauce just to chew it and eat it because it was so chewy, gristly & bland! So disappointing! The guacamole was pretty good, nothing really to write home about, and the cocktails were fine. I've been here three times and that's plenty of tries to get an accurate sense of the place. The ambiance is what makes this place so attractive. The food and attentive service is what makes it enjoyable. The branzino is full of seasoning and the side of squash was delicious. I enjoyed both the tamarindo and jamaica agua fresca because it was the perfect ratio of flavor to sweetness. And the cafe de olla chocolate cake was worth every calorie! It came with a tres leches sauce in a small pot that you can drizzle on yourself. It's a great spot for a date or hangout with friends. 10/10 read more

This is why we decided to return. Maybe there is a new chef because the menu has changed, and so have the portions. Last time we were able to get 4 different dishes and share (there were 4 of us). This time, however, the portions were smaller; therefore, getting 4 dishes was not enough. The food was not the same as before, and the taste was lacking. We ordered the fish which came with a mole sauce and no sides. We went on a Sunday to have brunch which is something of a fixed menu with a little starter of 3 plates then you choose your main plate and drinks are not included. Vibrant Mexican spot with great brunch deal. Came here with my parents on a Sunday and we made a reservation online in advance. The deal is that you get a mix of appetizers and your choice of an entree for $45. There are upgrades/a la carte options as well. The shared apps include jalapeno cornbread, fruit, and smoked trout, but we ordered some oysters as well (which came with adorable mini Tabasco sauces). I had the avocado toast for my entree (vegan friendly) while my mom had the Al pastor omelet and my dad had the lobster Benedict. The food was all filling and we were stuffed by the end of the meal. Yesterday, my family and I went to Encanto for brunch and everything was absolutely fabulous! Not only was the food delicious, but the staff is all top notch! Our female server was sweet, helpful and very attentive. The table side Bloody Marys, served by John were amazing and almost a meal by themselves. I've been coming to Encanto for a long time and it never disappoints! The branzino is my favorite and the best in LA! I've done a branzino tour all over LA and this is still the best! It's perfectly charred and the fish is still so tender. Best part?! Completely boneless. We usually pair it with the beans and rice and some papas and/or cauliflower or elote corn for sides. The papas are so yummy and crispy. Everything is so flavorful and delish! They have forever $10 margaritas as well. We had an incredible white wine and Pablo, our bartender, was so great! I have to start off that this place has hospitality. Everyone either pretends to be happy or actually either way the staff was incredible knowledgeable and kind. Joana our kind waitress spent time to help us choose what we wanted. Eli was kinda and second our choice in meals. I enjoy that we came during the week and employee had space to be casual and kind. Eli also had a witty banter and very funny. Everyone here felt very nice genuinely. The food though! Omg it was delicious. I am not sure where to start. The flavors are very unique. I can taste a little Asian in the Baja cuisine. I was informed they have a Japanese chef and he is very talented. The combination of flavor isn't overwhelming subtle and you can taste almost every ingredient without a taste or a bunch of salt. I don't feel this gross fullness after eating here either. Service: Our server seemed uninterested and not very friendly -- especially disappointing given it was a special occasion. Food: While the presentation was nice, the flavors did not match. We ordered the Kona ceviche and Pollo al Carbon. The ceviche was extremely bland -- lacking citrus or any real flavor. The chicken was too fatty, and the sauce was the only thing carrying the dish. Overall the food felt overpriced for the quality and taste. Ambiance: The interior is attractive, but that was really where the positives ended. Cleanliness: The bathrooms were poorly maintained with overflowing trash, which took away from the overall experience. Would we return? Probably not. BRUNCH. Small group of us dined here recently for Sunday brunch and were treated to the tastiest smorgasbord. It's prix fixe with a sampling of sides and your choice of entree, which made it easy to split the bill, and the sides and little extras made the price worth it. Fresh fruit, ceviches, jalapeño cornbread, smoked trout, "fancy guacamole" with charcoal roasted octopus...by the time my huevos rancheros arrived I almost just took it to go. But...I didn't, and we still ordered little churros and chocolate for dessert. I didn't eat another full meal for the rest of the day! We were one of only two tables at 11am so clearly everyone is sleeping on this. Considering brunch in LA can be such a hassle, highly recommend trying this spot and going for flavor over hype.
