We were looking for a place to eat in downtown LA and came across this place. It was a great find! Located in a boutique hotel, this place has patio seating and a very hip feeling dining room. There are lots of plants around which really helps at the mood of the place. There's a small bar a couple of high top tables and regular tables as well. There was a nice choice of items on the menu. Our server was really great and attempted even though he apparent to also be the bartender and barista. The coffee's here were so delicious, and so is the food. My son ordered something called the chopped cheese which was basically like a loaded Philly cheese steak. It was amazing! My chickens are wrap was good, although I'm not sure what all you can do with the chicken Caesar wrap to make it different. I did like that they grow the rap so that it was crunchy. Hubby got the H Burger which was cooked to order and so juicy and Delicious. We did notice a lot of groups of younger people stopping in for breakfast and lunch. The Bottom Line 3.5 stars: A solid option for breakfast or lunch when in the area. Recommended with a few concerns as noted below. Location 4 stars: On the south side of W 8th Street between Vermont and Western in K-town. They have their own parking lot which is a huge bonus. It featured free self parking at lunchtime but may be for a fee in the evenings as I saw a valet booth there. Venue 4 stars: Located on the lobby floor of H Hotel. Open for breakfast and lunch only. It becomes a bar in the evenings. Nice modern comfortable setting with indoor and outdoor seating and a small bar. I'm sorry to report that the restroom (no "s" since there is only "1") was a little drab and outdated, and not on par with the rest of the establishment. Service 3.5 stars: Polite and friendly. Food 3.5 stars: Breakfast and lunch New American fare. We had the Eggs Benedict, the Ham and Cheese French Toast Sandwich, and the Strawberries and Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast. I must say the food looks amazing! It is nicely plated and well represented. The taste however was unfortunately just ok and not memorable. Was in the area and tipped by this place. They have self parking, (your tip is your payment) and plenty of seating inside. The staff were welcoming but not too attentive. I ordered the French toast ham and cheese sandwich. While the food wasn't horrible, it just missed some flavor components. The sandwich was too soggy to my liking and the fries needed more seasoning. We parked on the street nearby, but they do have a parking lot that we missed - not sure if it's free. I ordered the country breakfast burrito that comes with fried chicken thighs as the main protein. They completely forgot to add the fried chicken. The food took 45 minutes and when I asked for a fried chicken on the side I was already done with my meal and it still didn't come out. Okay so, I'm not gonna lie, I wasnt too impressed. The food was just okay, kinda bland honestly, and I didn't really get the sense that the staff cared about the little things. I got the Mac and cheese and it was nice and creamy with a panko crust which added a bit of extra crunch! However, for the California burrito, they had a LOT of potatoes which was really filling! For ambiance, it was pretty loud! The food is good for the most part... Our experiences have been hit or miss. For example, I really liked the chilaquiles the first time, but the last time, it was way too spicy. The chicken and waffle that a lot of people rave about, left us both underwhelmed. The chicken was sad (looked like frozen Tyson thigh meat), and the waffle, soggy. Orange juice tasted pre-made, not fresh squeezed. They do offer a full bar and custom flavored espresso martinis, which we enjoyed. This cafe is attached to a hotel, we came in on a Friday morning and were seated quickly. Our server, Foxy, was very attentive and helped us narrow down our options. I started with their fresh squeezed orange juice which of course was delicious! The other two people with me got the French toast with strawberries and whipped cream. It's been a few months, but last time we were here it was $30 a person which is a pretty frickin amazing deal. They offer multiple flavors to choose from, and I recommend trying them all--if you dare. The only catch is that you have to order an entree if I remember correctly, which you probably want to do anyways if you're gonna drink this much...
