Actually an oasis in a concrete wasteland. From the place we were parking at, we walked by Fleur Cafe on the way to Anime Expo. Service was super friendly, welcoming, and attentive. They made sure to check up on us several times throughout the visit and explained the menu quite well. If you told me this was a cafe in Pasadena and not DTLA, I'd believe you. The fresh burst of green, the plants everywhere, fresh cut flowers on each table, and the decor (even in the restroom), is actually a breath of fresh air to all the cement and urban cityscape outside. For our brunch, we got the: 1) Fleur Burrito (the cafe's name is in the name, it has to be good, right?): -Huge, generous portion and we had this cut in half. -Comes with scrambled eggs, house made chicken chorizo, rice, black beans, tomato, onion, jalapeno, and cilantro wrapped in a flour tortilla. -You can ask for salsa or hot sauce to the side but the filling was seasoned so well that it wasn't necessary to sauce it up (something I usually do with all of my burritos). -Everything was evenly spaced on the inside, making each bite a delicious mix of textures and tastes. They don't skimp out on the protein either. Good and filling for a long day. 2) Sweet Sunshine: -This is a strawberry, mango, agave, lemon juice and oat milk smoothie. It is a bit pricy for $10, but if you look at Jamba Juice, this is a much better deal with how fresh all the fruit is and how thick the smoothie is. Definitely filled me up to the point where I could only take a couple bites of the burrito and I had more than enough to fill a to go cup on our way out. Found this place within walking distance of the LA Convention Center and decided to visit since it was highly rated and close by. The photos here on Yelp looked great so we were excited to try this place out. Cute interior and okay amount of seating, but great customer service and very clean bathroom despite the location. We ordered the chilaquiles and the steak & eggs with the two lemonades. The two lemonade were so good! I love that they are all fresh squeezed and made in house and the shredded mint was a great addition to the drinks. They are really sour so heads up, but we did like that too. The chilaquiles were pretty good, loved the black beans on the side with it. The steak & eggs was very good too, tender meat with a delicious sauce on it. Our first meal in LA was made memorable by this lovely and personable family. I adore the atmosphere, decorations, and food! I had the strawberry french toast and it was the BEST french toast I have ever had. The strawberry compote was not like the superficial syrup that you would get at other commercial-chain breakfast restaurants. The matcha was delicious as well. Food was very underwhelming, lots of different food types in 1 menu and we had a bit of variety, yet only 1 single plate stood out. Overall would skip, service was extremely slow too, I understand that they were shortstaffed apparently but they had all 4 plates come out at completely different times, like 5+ mins apart, which was odd, to us. Also side note that isn't on the restaurant, the street parking at the parking meters in front of the restaurant, the sidewalk is extremely high and when I opened my car door it definitely scratched it up from the bottom and I as well as my friends could barely get out of my car, from how low it was compared to how high the sidewalk was!
