I had high hopes for the breakfast burrito based on the photos, but unfortunately it didn't quite match expectations. The presentation and ingredients were noticeably different from what was advertised, and the burrito itself seemed underprepared. It lacked the balance of flavors and quality shown in the pictures, which was a bit disappointing. I also waited about 15 minutes for my order, and at $16 plus tax, I was expecting a much better overall experience. I completely understand that things can vary and that preparation takes time, but for that price point, consistency and quality are really important. It's located strategically in the heart of DTLA's Justice court. Interior decor was simple with a few art canvass. Atmosphere was nice. They have very limited indoor and outdoor seats. Civilization has all the basic Coffee items. I had a Spanish Latte. And it was mediocre but decent enough for commoners to drink. Service was spot on. Young Gen Z staff were very affable and respectful. Finding street metered parking was bloody challenging albeit plenty of public parking lot ($12/all day). I was lucky to find a spot 100 meters from the cafe. Overall, Civilization cafe is the kind of to-go cafe for professional or lawyers who were in a rush to get to court for case litigation. Was downtown for jury duty and there are not many options at all. At a glance this place is nothing special. Not a ton of options but good enough. Little pricy, but so is the real estate here. Got a matcha latte and a Caesar salad. As I waited for my order I realized this place is kind special. The workers here provided a high level of service. And I could tell that many of the customers were regulars. And staff had their customized orders memorized. There are 3 tables and a little service bench by the window so no more than probably 8 people can be seated in here. They walked around to hand me my matcha. This little spot has excellent service, drinks, and food. So far, I've tried a cappuccino, horchata latte, and Vietnamese coffee. Horchata is definitely my favorite. The Vietnamese coffee is nice but it needs more strength. If I'm not shaking, was it really Vietnamese? Food wise, I've only had the BTLA on sourdough. It was delicious. Rajah is an excellent warm person The name says it all. This is a family operated buisness I met the son who in return introduced dad. I found out mom is part of the team also. The food excellent. The choices excellent. The prices excellent. Respect the young man I wish I could remember his name so I refer to him as the son. He's young energetic, informative. I believe he's 18, you really have to admire his work ethics It's hard to find. He was in the front took my order then pop came out and he rushed to the kitchen. The food is fresh. The recommendation for breakfast was the breakfast burrito, the dorks and for me a bacon, egg and cheese croissant. Both we huge. My husband that's an eater couldn't finish the burrito and the same for my breakfast. I also for the first time had a latte with coffee from Thailand. My cafe con leche as I call it was perfection. They went on and beyond my wants. I didn't want thier special sauce and pops indicted I try it. Do he bought me a little OMG to die for. He makes it himself. I highly recommend Civilization. Come to my surprise zi thought I was turning my son on to a new place( I'm here visiting he lives here in LA and he knows about the place he loves it too. He stumbled upon Civilization after much research and gotta say, although their entrees were solid, my iced Chai latte was a hard miss. He got the French toast and I ordered the breakfast bowl. My potatoes and eggs were cooked perfectly, so I was very content with my brunch. Took a bite of the French toast and it was very flavorful, was very impressed. Portions were solid for the price and service was good, too. However, my iced Chai tasted like milk with a dash of cinnamon. Straight up milk and cinnamon. I visited Civilization Coffee + Kitchen multiple times already. Each time has been very pleasant. The food is delicious and you can taste the quality! The family who owns are very nice. Service is always great. It's a cute small cafe . There's 2 tables inside, which sits 2 people per table. I do suggest ordering ahead or going with ample time because they do get busy . Regardless , it's worth the wait . I suggest the breakfast burrito with chorizo and potatoes. It's a good size and delicious , don't forget to ask for the sauce. Turmeric Latte was great and the horchata coffee was worth a try. I remembered that there was a tacos tu madre at corporation food hall but didn't find out that it had closed until I arrived. This was the only spot in the food court that was open at the time and they did have a breakfast burrito so I figured I would give it a shot. Served on a whole wheat tortilla, it had egg, potato, cheese, avo, and meat. Came with salsa on the side. It was pretty bland and the salsa was advertised as being spicy but it was mild at best.
