Fried Cod Sandwich
Lila S.

I got the Fried Cod Sandwich and it was alright. Not bad, not the best sandwich I've ever had. I got a cold brew with oat milk and vanilla syrup, this was GREAT, lol. The place is really small with only 3 tables and a small bar top. The cashier was really nice! If I come back maybe I'll try the cheesesteak sandwich.

Oh my gosh. I will say that if you're coming to LA for a day trip and want a fast meal that'll blow your mind, please please come here. I'm actually so sad that I've already finished the leftovers I had from this place, it's that good. My friend and I went for dinner and split the chicken parm sandwich and garlic fries, both 10/10 in my book. We also got the orange blossom and pistachio donut which was an interesting flavor that slowly grows on you. All the food was so good that I went back for lunch the next day and got their spiced chicken laffas and it may have been the best thing I've eaten this month. The workers behind the counter are also super sweet and overall this is such a great shop if you want to get a quality meal with a friend or alone. Highly highly recommend!

Bacon & Chive Khachapuri was beautiful and a 10 out of 10. It is a cheese lovers delight.

Give this small shop a big six (or more) stars. There is seating inside for about 10 or so people. Metered street parking is your only option. You order at the counter. The chicken parm with bolognese is fantastic. It is an extremely hearty sandwich and is about as good as a chicken parm sandwich can get. The garlic chicken sandwich is also wonderful. The garlic flavor is strong but not overdone. This is another very hearty sandwich and it is excellent. It sounds ordinary but the excellent ingredients and preparation make this special. The bacon and chive khachapuri is a work of art. You pick your crust preference. I chose za'atar at the recommendation of the counter employee and was very happy with its nutty flavor. Professor Google told me that khachapuri is a "cheese-filled bread" from Georgia (the country kinda near Russia, not the state) and that is a good description. It comes with a barely fried egg in the middle. If you love bread and especially cheese--and who doesn't--this dish is for you. It is a belly bomb but worth every calorie. I had it for lunch and was not a bit unhappy that I was too full for dinner. Do not sleep on the baked goods, either. Is there anything they don't do well here? The salted chocolate cookie was excellent and a perfect blend of sweet and salty. The cinnamon cookie butter cookie was very good, too. I want to return soon and try everything else on the menu.

Had a craving for a fish sandwich and had to try Oui Melrose after hearing so many great reviews. I ordered online and went inside to pick up my order. While the restaurant is small, they offer seating options inside and outside for those who want to enjoy their meal. I ordered the fish sandwich and it was delicious. It was a great portion and the flavors with the tartar sauce were great. I would love to come back to try additional dishes. I will definitely be back.

Fantastic sandwiches and pretty good kachapuri! This is an all day concept in Melrose and the sandwiches are all excellent! I particularly love their fish sandwich while my husband really loved their laffa wraps. I'm quickly becoming a regular here but I really wish I'd be able to catch their donuts on a weekend at some point as well.

Sandwich was pretty tasty . Not my usual Philly steak but I definitely enjoyed it . The bread they use with the seeds was delicious . I'm used to a very sloppy extra cheesy spicy steak and don't judge me but I love it with some ranch . But man this did not disappoint. . I would definitely eat this again. I shared with my co worker since they had a BOGO free uber promotion. But if it wasn't for him I would have definitely DESTROYED both of them ! Definitely recommend. * eats crumbs off paper hoping for more

Chicken Parm with Bolognese

Great service!! I wanted to love the chicken parm sandwich but it was missing a pop of flavor for me. My boyfriend loved it so maybe it was just me but I wanted to taste more flavors in there since there was a lot in the sandwich. It felt a bit heavy too. The fries were tasty.

Oui Melrose is it cool eatery located in the Hollywood area and they have tons of options. My food got here relatively fast. I'm pretty far away from it so great service on that front and they had to buy one get one free, which is always great. So I got a cheesesteak and I have a pretty high standard for cheesesteaks. In my opinion, the bread could've been a little bit more toasted the steak a tad bit more seasoning and it could've been saucier. The meat had good texture and consistency, and I didn't feel like there was enough cheese on it.Like I thought it should've been oozing cheese. I would try it again, but I feel like I should make some more changes to it to better and improve my experience.

I was craving a good sandwich and this spot popped up on yelp. They have a nice selection of sandwiches and burgers. I went with their highly-regarded chicken parm with bolognese. It came nicely baked, with the bread and the cheese on top being baked to that perfect crisp and texture. The marinated chicken and the all-beef bolognese being paired together, tasted truly incredible. Definitely one of the top chicken bolognese sandwiches that I've had. The spot itself is small, with 4 little tables and a bar seating area. The customer service was solid and on point. Would come back again!

THE BEST DOUGHNUT I HAVE EVER HAD! Wow, was this bakery one of my favourite stops during my trip to LA! I am absolutely in love with this place and go over everytime! You're greeted with a smile right when you walk in and the staff is so beyond kind. The food was just the best quality and you can taste it in their dough and meats! When you're either craving a good sandwich or a good donut trust me this is the place to go in the city! If I were to go again I know exactly what I would get and hope they still have it! The Chicken Gyro and the Banana Cream Donut! 10/10 recommend!!!

I work in dtla and decided to take the drive to checkout this restaurant. Luckily I found a meter to park directly in front of the shop. I ordered the Chicken parm with Bolognese. Before I ate my sandwich, I ordered a chocolate chip cookie. I couldn't resist since they were staring at me! The cookie was divine and had the perfect chewy texture. The sandwich was also pretty delicious! The flavors are vibrant. I was able to taste a pesto sauce and the marinara sauce together and it pairs well. The chicken was fried to perfection too! My only wish was having a side of marinara to dip the sandwich. Their menu is simple and I can't wait to checkout other menu items. I highly recommend checking them out if you're looking for a great sandwich and dessert. The ambiance is pretty basic, the shop was clean and staff were extremely friendly.

Becca D.

Wow! The food here is absolutely divine. I started with a chocolate sea salt cookie... I honestly think it's the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had. Next we had a bacon and scallion Tony k. So rich and full of flavor, warm, crispy... I love the option to add custom sesame or everything seasoning to the bread. Service was great, place was clean. This is a real hidden gem!! Must try!! Can't wait to come back:)

Finally tried this spot bc I was craving a tuna sandwich. It was delicious, the tuna was fresh, the pickles added a great tangy twist, and the bread was fresh and crispy! The staff were friendly and accommodating to my dietary needs as well!

Our waiter was personable and took our order quickly as well as consistently replenished our drinking water. Everything was delicious and had its own unique flavor, from the chickpea fritters which had softness and crunchiness, the goat mousse with sweet and savory sauces and the crumpets and crackers; then the goat belly with a deliciously crisp skin and soft inside and intense flavor (but not gamey) with a rich sauce, the steak was yummy and precut, and the pork shank which was epic! I loved all the greens and pita to wrap the pork and goodies into! We ended with a bday scoop of mango sticky ice cream which was completely different than I've had before and yummy.

The standouts were the green beans, the Brussels sprouts that came with the chicken, the pork shank and the tuna and crunchy quinoa salad. I'm still thinking of that crunchy quinoa. We had no room for dessert. So maybe next time we try the goat curry, get the quinoa salad again and get dessert! The service was great too. Attentive but not overbearing. It's a cute restaurant both inside and outside.

One of the best meals I've had this year. Everything was a hit -- from the salad to the side dishes, the meat, and dessert. Nothing disappointed. The menu is definitely made for sharing, and every dish felt thoughtful, flavorful, and fun. My favorite was the fried pepper. I think I'll be dreaming about it, and I would come back just for that. We were definitely overloaded with meat, but in the best way. The decor and ambience are very chill -- lively, relaxed, and very LA without feeling pretentious. We came for my mommy friend's birthday, and it was perfect for a moms' night out, but the crowd also had that young, hip energy. It feels like a place that works for all ages. Service was very attentive and knowledgeable without hovering. Parking is right next door by the Electric Theater lot, about $15 with no validation, so carpooling is probably the move. Food wasn't good. Nothing stood out to me except for the salad. For starters we were suppose to have two different salads but without apologies a waitress simply brought out a small bowl of cucumber slices stating they ran out of the other salad. No comp or no discussion on an alternative where I was charged full prefix price. It was disappointing since I wanted to try their salads and that was the best part of their entire prefix and only dish we actually finished. For Steak and eggs entree, they never asked how I would've like the steak cooked and they brought it medium, which we did not touch since it was too bloody for my liking. The deserts were all underwhelming also including meringue, tart and chocolate mousse. I got sliders for my kid who loves a good cheese burger but she didn't eat it either. Also having fries with burgers would've been nice and I was surprised she got two small sliders with no fries. Usually sliders and chicken tenders are always served with fries. Esp for children. Service was okay initially but towards end I had to keep looking for waiter trying to ask for things since again end of day I felt workers were busy closing out and not as much attention was paid to guests still left. Ambiance was okay. It was farther than I thought near Chinatown than my usual west LA options. To me it's about experience, taste and quality time but given price point and culinary experience I had for Mother's Day prefix, I do not want to dine again at this restaurant.

Once upon a time (a few years ago), my CFP + banking institution wanted to thank me for being one of their top private clients. They expressed their gratitude with a very generous, all expense paid full-course meal at Bestia. To say that I was impressed would be an understatement. Fast forward to now, I knew that coming back here would be a good idea. Make no mistake, even if you try to book a reservation several weeks in-advance, don't be surprised if the only available seats are at the counter. Granted, I was in a spacey table during my past visit, the counter can be an enjoyable & unintentionally entertaining space. It's great for a more casual vibe, as you get to see some of the kitchen workers put together some of their signature dishes. In many ways, Bestia seems like a microcosm of the city that it rather humbly resides within. What always catches me off-guard, is that the surrounding simple area really doesn't reflect the happening, vibrant, night-life that resides within the building's walls. You feel like you're taken so a different, very social, very bustling world. WINE: Podere 72, Poderi San Lazzaro (Marche region, central Italy) - 8.7 / 10 A very robust blend of Montepulciano & Sangiovese grapes that results in a balanced, medium bodied red wine that stands-up to heartiness of a beef ribeye steak. FOOD: Roasted Bone Marrow - 9.4/ 10 I have several friends that go here just for this particular dish. Funny enough, one can almost always tell that one is at Bestia because of the rather peculiar manner in which this dish is served. Hot, melted bone marrow is appropriately scooped out of the bone & poured onto spinach gnocchetti. It's like eating beef flavored mouth pillows of potato + spinach. It's definitely a dish that will impress whoever you are with. I can never resist ordering this whenever I am here. Oxtail alla Vaccinara - 8.9 / 10 The deep, rich maroon color of the rigatoni (thanks to beets) is a sight to behold. The pasta is firm but not too hard. It's a humble yet complex pasta dish that complements any main course. 26oz Margaret River Wagyu Ribeye - 9.4 / 10 Anybody who knows me knows that I love my ribeye. Any decent fancy restaurant does a ribeye. But no one does a ribeye quite like Bestia. The fermented mushroom cream delivers a punch of pungence not unlike a delectable dijon mustard, but to the highest of levels. This dish also makes me a believer in well-cooked onions served alongside steak. I usually like to take a home a portion of ribeye for later, but this is one of the very few instances when the steak is so good, that I can't help but finish it here. Again, the portion is more than enough to be shared. Fromage Blanc Mousse - 9.1 / 10 This seasonal dish hits all the right notes. It's the fanciest of cheesecakes, so I recommend sharing this. With its decadence, a little truly goes a long way & that's perfectly fine. The richness of the cheese is offset perfectly by the right balance of candied kumquats. A great "bite" to end on. Huge shout-out & thanks to Radu for being the nicest & most enthusiastic of servers. It's little things like him being so down to take pics of you with your party that really make me want to come back here. It the owners / management is reading this, please recognize how pivotal he is to your team. If he was working under me, I would most definitely give him a raise. Also, shout-out to Dani at the hostess stand. She is one of the most personable people. For being the first person that patrons see upon entering, she is the perfect face, attitude, & welcoming personality that the hospitality industry is in dire need of. She's a rockstar of a hostess & a pleasure to talk with. Bestia is a better place because of valuable employees like Radu & Dani. As always, come for the food. Come back for the service. I would definitely come back because of how amazing Radu & Dani are. Years after the hype, the vibe is still very much happening at Bestia.
