If I were reviewing this on my own I would have given the review 3 star for my Zab's hot honey chicken tenders and chili fries. I didn't care for the chile and lack of spice or what I would call sabor. The tenders were good quality chicken but had a lackluster flavor in my mind. I've had hot honey many times and this was not my favorite. They also neglected to provide the charred jalapeño mayo which it probably needed to complete the flavor profile. I didn't find out that was supposed to be included until I wrote this review and looked at the menu again. Karen's statement upon sitting with her sandwich was that it wasn't a very big sandwich. I immediately started laughing because her chicken snitchzel sandwich was huge. It was almost as tall as it was wide. She later admitted that the sandwich was huge and made her so full she skipped dinner. Maybe I will try a burger next time....maybe. read more

Being that this place was from Napa and had won a James Beard award I was expecting more. I really wanted to like this place but overall I would say five out of 10 for me. We ordered the artichoke the spicy tomato soup and the cheese and caramelized onion burger. At the end, my husband got a chocolate sundae. The pricing I would say overall is average we live in California with South $70 so that didn't seem pricey to me. So to start off, the reason I went there was I wanted a hotdog. They were not serving hotdog on this evening because they ran out of buns fine so I ordered the burger. The burger was supposed to come with a fried egg and lots of caramelized onions. When I received the burger, no egg, the onions were very far in few maybe six or seven tiny onions that's it and once they're caramelized, they shrink down to nothing so I feel like I should've had a lot more. The burger Meat itself was very overcooked, and the burger bun was heavily, heavily, heavily greasy too heavy for my liking and I was not able to consume it. The tomato soup had no flavor except for a ton of spice. It was very spicy and the tomato just tasted like it came out of a can, and it was unseasoned definitely was not what I was expecting. The artichoke was probably the best thing that they had that we ordered half of the artichoke is fried and half of it is grilled. It did need some seasoning, though some salt would've been nice and more lemon. They serve it with a Mayo. I highly recommend asking for the ranch. It's much better with the ranch. At the end, my husband got a chocolate sundae. Their fudge was cold and we had to wait about eight minutes for the fudge to heat up so we had to take our ticket and walk around and then come back. A Sunday is a Sunday, and you can't mess that up really so the ice cream Sunday was good because it's ice cream & chocolate with crushed almonds and whipped cream. It was a little inconvenient to have to wait but I have to say overall, would I go back? Probably not . However, I was surprised to see it was so busy and so many people ordering so maybe some of the other items are . we tried to order an assortment of things to get an idea, but I wasn't impressed and I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. However, I will give them credit on the staff. The staff was amazing. They were very on top of it, and there was a lot of of them, even though they were overwhelmed it seemed and they were still trying to get their bearings. I've been wanting to eat at this place for so long, ever since I saw the sign go up at the Farmer's Market at the grove. It opened a few weeks ago, but I was on a budget back then, so I didn't try it. However, I went today, and it absolutely did not disappoint. This place is amazing. The first thing I did was try the cheese fried, and the cheese they have melted on top of them doesn't taste like any other cheese fry that I've ever had. It's a bit more rich and the texture is different, but they put things like jalapeños and other things in it (not sure exactly as I picked the artichokes and just ate the fries because they were in front of me). Next, the artichokes were so good. Half of them came fried, and the other half came boiled with some rubs on them. It was so good and the artichokes paired well with their aioli, along with their Portland sourced ketchup and mustard, hot sauce, their mayo too and also their spicy mayo. I took a bite of my friend's chicken sandwich. I don't like teriyaki. It was ok. It wasn't as sweet as other teriyaki places. But I still didn't like it, because it's teriyaki... if that wasn't on it, I would've probably enjoyed it. The chicken was cooked well. While I was debating between a Cuban sandwich and the Gruyère and caramelized onion burger, I was encouraged to go with the burger. It was phenomenal. The first bite had all the flavor you want out of caramelized onions, mixed with the joys that come with melted Gruyere. The bun has a nice texture to it. They fill up the burger so some ingredients fall out of it, meaning they aren't skimping on ingredients. And the taste is exactly what you want from a burger like that. The service is cool. You order at the counter, they give you a buzzer and you pick up your food from the other side. They have a self service water filter, which I like. The ambiance is chill and big. You can bring pets, but don't let them sit on the chairs, or someone will say something. Probably because all their furniture is absolutely brand new, so I get it, but my friend was a little taken aback by that. But yeah, solid place overall. Definitely coming back. read more

Unfortunately Gott's LA is nothing like Napa. We ordered the Ahi burger, fried chicken sandwich, onion rings and a shake. The bread they use is this dry, crumbly, flavorless brioche. It ruined both sandwiches. Apparently they couldn't get the same bread down here so they are serving this. A potato bun would be far preferable or whatever bread they use at their other locations. The onion rings were like something you'd get at a miniature golf snack bar. Flavorless. I'm shocked that they opened without matching the quality of their other restaurants. My friends and I had lunch at Gott's Roadside for the first time and it was flawless! Was trying to find a place near The Grove to have lunch which had me thinking about that new restaurant in the Farmer's Market. I was like we can go to Gott's Roadside! Let's check it out! So we did. As we waited for our friend who parked in The Grove's garage, we looked over the menu. A huge menu with so many tasty options that appeases many people. Our friend arrived and look at the menu as well. You can read the paper menu or look at the tall digital wall that has the menu too. We walked into Gott's Roadside where there's cashiers immediately to one's left. They were friendly, fast and helpful. After your order you get a buzzer that buzzes when your food order is ready at the pick up station. What I like about this place is that you pay for your meal...cash or with card ahead of time. You do not have to wait until the end of the meal to divvy up the bill and try to figure out which friend or family members owes for what. The restaurant has a chill upscale diner vibe. Nostalgic items on the walls, indoor and a covered outdoor seating. Outdoor has long, comfortable benches. Our food and drinks were delicious. Great portions when it came to the sandwiches, burgers, garlic fries and onion rings. There's even a soft serve ice cream window you can walk up to and order from! Gott's is definitely in it's soft opening still with some kinks to work out - they were rearranging condiment placements today and weren't sure what to do for carryout containers - but I'm so glad they've come to the Farmers Market! They are dusted with chili spice and that packs a punch but they come with housemade ranch sauce to weaken the blow. Gott's is known for their burgers first and foremost, so had to try their Californian and just loved it. It was a solid burger - not smash, no pub - just a good ol' 'regular' style burger! It came with a fried egg, gruyère cheese, Zoe's bacon, arugula, balsamic onions & mayo on a toasted sesame brioche bun. That argula was so nice and fresh that it added a really nice balance to the burger. Most important advice = do not sleep on their desserts! Their soft serve is legendary! I actually went with their Cookies & Cream shake made with real Oreos. Their hand spun shakes use organic ice cream & milk and goodness is it good! I had to stop myself from guzzling it down before my food was ready! I also tried their chocolate chip cookie because it looked so darn good sitting by their registers. Loved that, too! This is a welcome addition to the Farmers Market. It has some different things to offer and a great dedicated patio. I was able to take advantage of the soft opening and try several items. The stand outs were the chicken teriyaki sandwich, brussels sprouts, garlic fries, and strawberry lemonade. The teriyaki chicken sandwich was topped with a nice spicy slaw. The outer leaves of the Brussels sprouts were deliciously charred and crisp. Service was fast and friendly despite it being the first week of serving. They also generously supported those of us picketing across the street with hot dogs on two occasions. The hot dogs had a nice bite to them and the toasted bun elevated it. Pricing is on par with other places in the market. I can see going for a light meal (or girl dinner) with an appetizer or side and a glass of wine or beer and it being a reasonably priced option. No, not a fan of this place. I ordered the Western Bacon Blue Ring, my spouse ordered the Crispy Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich, and we split an order of cheese fries. We didn't order drinks and the total still came to $43 and change. After paying, we were handed a buzzer so we could pick up our food when it was ready. Right after swiping my card, the screen asked how much I wanted to tip. For what exactly? Taking my order and handing me a buzzer? We found a seat. There was seating inside and outside. It was a nice day, we sat at a picnic style table outside. About 15 minutes later the buzzer rang. I picked up the food, was told where the condiments were, and sat back down. My first thought was: this is what $43 gets you? I hope it's good. I grabbed a cheesy fry first. It should have been cheesy, with some heat from the jalapeños and flavor from the onions -- but none of that came through. It tasted more like a generic sauce than anything else. After a few bites of my burger, I actually wondered if I got the right order. I checked the receipt and the burger. The blue cheese was good, but the burger itself was dry. I couldn't really tell there was an onion ring on it, and I couldn't taste the bacon at all. The staff was friendly, and since it was the grand opening they were clearly overstaffed. While we were eating, we were asked at least three times if they could clear our trash. When I got up to refill my water and came back, my fork had been cleared away with the tray. I had the honor to check out Gott's on the week of their soft opening and this review is for my first visit. Gott's featured a classic American diner-style menu with items like burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken strips and fries. Although you can get a good burger all around the Farmers Market, the big plus here is their own open air dining with a modern California style design. It had lots of covered seating with ample sunlight. Gott's is a place where though it is still casual, it has a different ambiance than their neighboring businesses. As I mentioned earlier the menu is diverse enough so that there is something for everyone in the party. My friend and I shared a Gruyere cheese and caramelized onion burger. The boldness of the cheese and the sweetness of the onions go well together! It's a "heavy" burger meaning in taste so something light like the Brussel sprouts would go well with it. We also got the crispy teriyaki chicken sandwich and it has a nice kick to it! The sweetness of the slaw, with the jalapeno and the sweetness of the teriyaki goes well together. Fries are also very good and we had to share an order as it is a generous order. Service was very friendly even though it was a chaotic time. I can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu, especially after giving them some time to acclimate. read more

The quality of ingredients from the Burgers to Sandwiches to the soft serve are all amazing. You can really tell that it's great ingredients. Tried the Cali Burger + Cali Chicken Sandwich. Pretty tasty. Excited to try the SM spot which hopefully will open up by the end of the year. Perfect for families, couples, and friends just chillen for great food. So happy they finally opened at the LA Farmers Market near the Grove! The menu has something for everyone and today's opening day was busy but the staff is very nice and handled everything smoothly. Love the burgers and the special was a chicken Parmesan sandwich and got the garlic fries and onion rings though the rings were extra crispy. They have inside and patio seating and I think you can sit in the farmers markets tables too. You place your order at the counter and you get buzzed when your order is ready for pickup. I have been to the one in Napa and it was outstanding. This location? Gross, weird, and uncomfortably small- not worth your money with all the other burger places around LA. It really lost its appeal and charm the ambiance is just strange. I don't know if it was because of the day we went or what happened but I've never been around such rude people and not that the restaurant had much to do with that but they could make the effort to make their customers comfortable. They just allowed strollers to block the walkway and people from sitting at tables which to me is a safety hazard before anything. Excited to try the LA location of Napa's Gott's Roadside and have already been twice. No bad things to say. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available (benches even, reminds me of the Napa location), and a bathroom that is cleaner than the Grove's Farmers Market. Food: Cheese Fries (the cheese sauce is so addictive and delicious!), fried artichoke hearts (4 for $10, is a bit steep), strawberry lemonade which they refill for free (amaze), and a froze slush which I enjoyed. I have been coming the the Original Farmer's Market forever and today was my lucky day because I got to try Gott's Roadside! You order at the counter and get a beeper and when it goes off, you pick up at another counter in the back by the bar. There are booths, community tables, patio seating-picnic style, and a full bar inside. The service is outstanding and each employee that I dealt with was friendly, knowledgable, and went out of their way to help me. The wine list is very impressive including red, white, and sparkling wines. There are draft beers and craft beers with a huge selection of both. As for other drinks there are shakes, floats, freezes, fountain sodas, and iced teas and juices. There is even a special under 12 kids menu, making ths a great family dining spot. The food: There are burgers, chicken tenders, fries, soup, chili, salads, sandwiches, and even tacos. The burgers are 1/3 pound, perfectly grilled veggie, turkey, or beef which can be made into a lettuce wrap if you prefer. I had the Western Bacon Blue Ring-a beer battered onion ring a top Point Reyes Farmstead Blue Cheese, Zoe's bacon, pickles, red onion, and BBQ sauce on a beff patty with a toasted egg bun. This burger was outstanding. My friend had an Ahi Burger- sushi-grade Ahi tuna with ginger-wasabi mayo, Asian slaw, and cilantro on a toasted egg bun. He loved it. We also had the Garlic Fries which might be the best fries ever-tossed in garlic butter and parsley-no ketchup needed! We also tried the Organic Chocolate Malt which was amazing! I've checked out this new restaurant at the farmers market 2x in the last month or so. Love the casual outdoor dining. Had the cheeseburger and onion rings the first time and I enjoyed but the second time I went I got the Vietnamese fried chicken salad and that was out of this world delicious. I had never heard of this place before. I was lucky enough to enjoy some of the free food during their practice sessions. Honestly blown away by the quality of the food. We pretty much tried everything on the menu nothing was a miss. We met several from the corporate team that explained the history of the company, loved the farm to table concept and most importantly love that they support local farms. Even during training the staff was unbelievably attentive and knowledgeable. Impecable service. Me and several of my coworkers are hooked. We go 2-3 times a week now that they're officially open. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly and the service is AMAZING! Highly recommend the CHICKEN TENDEES!!!! Those tendees are like crack they're so good! Hands down the best chicken in the game. The egg was completely overcooked and the yolk had broken out the side so it was pointless. the only saving grace was the undercooked bacon to go with the overcooked everything else. The fries were worse. Completely undercooked, soggy and not in a good way, and so overwhelmed with parsley. There was hardly a garlic flavor, and zero crisp. The only thing that tasted good was the tiny horchata shake, worth $10 though? A hard no. It will be a long time before I could give this place a second chance. I think the are still in soft open. Been here three times so far. Food is good. Main feedback is that they need to be much quicker with taking orders and getting food out. The cashiers are very very slow and it seems like there is a lot of clicking on the POS to get the order in. The food took too long to arrive in my first visits but was better today. Hope they can focus on these things to make a better experience. I think they are tasking their cashiers with too much. Take orders, get drinks, package cookies. Until the kitchen is faster they should focus on getting the orders in the system as fast as possible and having people go to the other bar for their drinks and cookies. read more
