I was excited to try Gott's Roadside at the Farmers Market, expecting more of a traditional diner, but it's really a burger place with a more expansive menu. We tried the cheeseburger, falafel salad, chicken tenders, fries, onion rings, and a chocolate shake. The cheeseburger was solid, and the ingredients tasted fresh. My wife found the falafel salad just so-so, about a 6/10. The fries and tenders were good, but the onion rings were the real standout. Finally, a place that gets them right: perfectly crispy, not soggy or swimming in oil. The chocolate shake was okay, though too sweet imho. It also seemed like it came from a machine rather than being made to order. Overall, a pretty solid meal. I'd come back, especially for those onion rings. read more

Gott's is the brand-spanking-new burger and ice-cream restaurant at the Northwest corner of the Farmer's Market, a space that's turned over a few times in the last several years. White and red with chrome touches, it's called a "roadside" diner, and it hails from Napa, where it was noticed by the James Beard Society. Heady stuff. And it's pretty good -- but not stunning! They've got a menu of upscale burger creations, fries and other sides, and some very creamy, very rich ice-creams. Prices are a bit steep -- they usually are at the Farmer's Market -- so, despite the fine service and decent quality, I'm not sure that locals will make this their regular. I ordered the Gruyère and Caramelized Onion Burger, which is topped with a garlic aioli. The 1/4 pound patty was nicely cooked to a proper medium, and you could taste the quality of the meat -- but it could have used a bit more seasoning and a better char. It was $20+, but it just wasn't cooked in a particularly exciting or memorable way. The Gruyère was extremely mild, and didn't contribute much to the flavor profile; the caramelized onions, however, were sweet and enjoyable. The garlic aioli also had a pleasing taste, but there was too much of it. They offer a number of other sauces, and the Charred Jalapeño Mayo was really very tasty. In the end, it was an okay burger, but nothing to write home about, nor anything I would race back to have again. I skipped ordering fries because I wanted to sample the ice-cream, so I ordered a small Chocolate Malted. This was very, very good. Rich, creamy, very chocolatey, with a good dose of malt expanding the flavor. To me, this was far more successful than the burger, and I very much WOULD return for more ice-cream. And so, Gott's is a beautifully designed venue that's staffed with very nice people -- but, while the ice-cream is very good, there are many places in LA to get a much better burger... especially for the price. read more

The food is good if they get your order right. The restaurant layout is serviceable but definitely not cozy. I have been here 1 dozen times since they opened, but I will not be back. The last 2 times the made my order incorrectly. The first time I just let it go. The second time I called to get a refund or just get a replacement meal the next time I was there in person in a week or two, but there is no way to reach a human on the phone when you call the number for the business. I got Gott's the other day for the first time. A very weird first impression. Either them of DoorDash canceled my order. Good thing I noticed because my wife was a few minutes away from picking up. I replaced my card set but by the time she got home, the food seemed a lot colder than it should have been if it was fresh. Ordered regular fries, sweet potato fries and onion rings. All good, just not hot. Odd, I live just a few minutes out so there should have been no real reason for them to be so cool. All three burgers I ordered were fantastic though! It's a classic burger with grilled onion that hit the burger craving my son had. My fish tacos were nice.. a but messy, but nice and crispy. I am absolutely obsessed with their AHI POKE CRISPY TACOS. Sushi grade tuna, avocado, cabbage, onions, sesame seeds, spicy mayo, cilantro slaw, and the crispiest taco shells you have ever crunched into. Insane flavor. I ate sweet potato fries with them and it was the perfect meal. The location is cute. There is a window to order ice cream, and indoor ordering area next to some seating, a separate bar and pickup counter, and outdoor seating galore. The staff is super friendly and will help bus your table when it's quieter. Their trash receptacles are well labeled to make everything easy. Everything my family had looked fabulous. We came here for lunch on a Sunday and it was busy but we were still able to get our food quickly and grab a table! The cashier who took our order was friendly and helpful! He made sure to tell us what they did not have at the moment and he was patient with us. We ordered a kids grilled cheese and fries for our toddler. We ordered a Modelo and a white claw. He gave me a nice cold glass for my white claw. For food, we got the lobster BLT and the ahi tuna pokè tacos. He gave us a buzzer to let us know when the food was ready and where to pick it up! He also told us they had a water station. We sat outside and even though it was hot, they do have fans that are blowing on you! They have seating inside as well. Not me realizing mid meal that this was JOEL GOTT WINE related - gott's restaurant!! I first tried just the ice cream here and knew I had to try the food. Best cheese fries I've ever had as they make the jalapeno cheese sauce in house!!!! But what really tied it together for me were the sweetest employees. I first went to Gott's in Napa and really enjoyed the vibe, and solid food. Is it 5*? Probably not. That said, everything is good quality (mostly organic). The special fried chicken tacos with street corn are very good. My wife loved her Baja fish tacos. The burgers and milkshakes are also really good. Any negative reviews on here are dumb. It is a burger place with good food and a good vibe. Not sure what they're expecting... I will say the tip option numbers need to be changed. They start at 15%. Unfortunately Gott's LA is nothing like Napa. We ordered the Ahi burger, fried chicken sandwich, onion rings and a shake. The bread they use is this dry, crumbly, flavorless brioche. It ruined both sandwiches. Apparently they couldn't get the same bread down here so they are serving this. A potato bun would be far preferable or whatever bread they use at their other locations. The onion rings were like something you'd get at a miniature golf snack bar. Flavorless. I'm shocked that they opened without matching the quality of their other restaurants. I love that they offer a plain hot dog for $10 as I'm a basic girl. It gives me vibes of being at a friend's backyard BBQ. The sweet potato fries were so good! They are dusted with chili spice and that packs a punch but they come with housemade ranch sauce to weaken the blow. Gott's is known for their burgers first and foremost, so had to try their Californian and just loved it. It was a solid burger - not smash, no pub - just a good ol' 'regular' style burger! It came with a fried egg, gruyère cheese, Zoe's bacon, arugula, balsamic onions & mayo on a toasted sesame brioche bun. That argula was so nice and fresh that it added a really nice balance to the burger. Most important advice = do not sleep on their desserts! Their soft serve is legendary! I actually went with their Cookies & Cream shake made with real Oreos. Their hand spun shakes use organic ice cream & milk and goodness is it good! I had to stop myself from guzzling it down before my food was ready! I also tried their chocolate chip cookie because it looked so darn good sitting by their registers. Loved that, too! I've been wanting to eat at this place for so long, ever since I saw the sign go up at the Farmer's Market at the grove. It opened a few weeks ago, but I was on a budget back then, so I didn't try it. However, I went today, and it absolutely did not disappoint. This place is amazing. The first thing I did was try the cheese fried, and the cheese they have melted on top of them doesn't taste like any other cheese fry that I've ever had. It's a bit more rich and the texture is different, but they put things like jalapeños and other things in it (not sure exactly as I picked the artichokes and just ate the fries because they were in front of me). Next, the artichokes were so good. Half of them came fried, and the other half came boiled with some rubs on them. It was so good and the artichokes paired well with their aioli, along with their Portland sourced ketchup and mustard, hot sauce, their mayo too and also their spicy mayo. I took a bite of my friend's chicken sandwich. I don't like teriyaki. It was ok. It wasn't as sweet as other teriyaki places. But I still didn't like it, because it's teriyaki... if that wasn't on it, I would've probably enjoyed it. The chicken was cooked well. While I was debating between a Cuban sandwich and the Gruyère and caramelized onion burger, I was encouraged to go with the burger. It was phenomenal. The first bite had all the flavor you want out of caramelized onions, mixed with the joys that come with melted Gruyere. The bun has a nice texture to it. They fill up the burger so some ingredients fall out of it, meaning they aren't skimping on ingredients. And the taste is exactly what you want from a burger like that. The service is cool. You order at the counter, they give you a buzzer and you pick up your food from the other side. They have a self service water filter, which I like. The ambiance is chill and big. You can bring pets, but don't let them sit on the chairs, or someone will say something. Probably because all their furniture is absolutely brand new, so I get it, but my friend was a little taken aback by that. But yeah, solid place overall. Definitely coming back. read more

This is a welcome addition to the Farmers Market. It has some different things to offer and a great dedicated patio. I was able to take advantage of the soft opening and try several items. The stand outs were the chicken teriyaki sandwich, brussels sprouts, garlic fries, and strawberry lemonade. The teriyaki chicken sandwich was topped with a nice spicy slaw. The outer leaves of the Brussels sprouts were deliciously charred and crisp. Service was fast and friendly despite it being the first week of serving. They also generously supported those of us picketing across the street with hot dogs on two occasions. The hot dogs had a nice bite to them and the toasted bun elevated it. Pricing is on par with other places in the market. I can see going for a light meal (or girl dinner) with an appetizer or side and a glass of wine or beer and it being a reasonably priced option. This spot has had a lot of turnover in recent years but I can see Gott's maintaining a lasting presence. read more

The service here is excellent and all the staff are friendly and nice. At first I thought it was an East Coast restaurant, but found it was established in northern California. Today's special was softshell crab burgers, which were done just right. I'm not sure whether any sauce came with it, but having crab just plain was great. Something that surprised me was the Elote served, as it's not common for restaurants having Elote on a Continental type of cuisine. No, not a fan of this place. I ordered the Western Bacon Blue Ring, my spouse ordered the Crispy Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich, and we split an order of cheese fries. We didn't order drinks and the total still came to $43 and change. After paying, we were handed a buzzer so we could pick up our food when it was ready. Right after swiping my card, the screen asked how much I wanted to tip. For what exactly? Taking my order and handing me a buzzer? We found a seat. There was seating inside and outside. It was a nice day, we sat at a picnic style table outside. About 15 minutes later the buzzer rang. I picked up the food, was told where the condiments were, and sat back down. My first thought was: this is what $43 gets you? I hope it's good. I grabbed a cheesy fry first. It should have been cheesy, with some heat from the jalapeños and flavor from the onions -- but none of that came through. It tasted more like a generic sauce than anything else. After a few bites of my burger, I actually wondered if I got the right order. I checked the receipt and the burger. The blue cheese was good, but the burger itself was dry. I couldn't really tell there was an onion ring on it, and I couldn't taste the bacon at all. The staff was friendly, and since it was the grand opening they were clearly overstaffed. While we were eating, we were asked at least three times if they could clear our trash. When I got up to refill my water and came back, my fork had been cleared away with the tray. Zach (manager) and Whitney (server) provided great service to myself and those seated around me all evening. Super attentive, helpful, and personable. I had the honor to check out Gott's on the week of their soft opening and this review is for my first visit. Gott's featured a classic American diner-style menu with items like burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken strips and fries. Although you can get a good burger all around the Farmers Market, the big plus here is their own open air dining with a modern California style design. It had lots of covered seating with ample sunlight. Gott's is a place where though it is still casual, it has a different ambiance than their neighboring businesses. As I mentioned earlier the menu is diverse enough so that there is something for everyone in the party. My friend and I shared a Gruyere cheese and caramelized onion burger. The boldness of the cheese and the sweetness of the onions go well together! It's a "heavy" burger meaning in taste so something light like the Brussel sprouts would go well with it. We also got the crispy teriyaki chicken sandwich and it has a nice kick to it! The sweetness of the slaw, with the jalapeno and the sweetness of the teriyaki goes well together. Fries are also very good and we had to share an order as it is a generous order. Service was very friendly even though it was a chaotic time. I can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu, especially after giving them some time to acclimate. read more

We walked into Gott's Roadside where there's cashiers immediately to one's left. They were friendly, fast and helpful. After your order you get a buzzer that buzzes when your food order is ready at the pick up station. What I like about this place is that you pay for your meal...cash or with card ahead of time. You do not have to wait until the end of the meal to divvy up the bill and try to figure out which friend or family members owes for what. The restaurant has a chill upscale diner vibe. Nostalgic items on the walls, indoor and a covered outdoor seating. Outdoor has long, comfortable benches. Our food and drinks were delicious. Great portions when it came to the sandwiches, burgers, garlic fries and onion rings. There's even a soft serve ice cream window you can walk up to and order from! Excited to try the LA location of Napa's Gott's Roadside and have already been twice. No bad things to say. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available (benches even, reminds me of the Napa location), and a bathroom that is cleaner than the Grove's Farmers Market. Food: Cheese Fries (the cheese sauce is so addictive and delicious!), fried artichoke hearts (4 for $10, is a bit steep), strawberry lemonade which they refill for free (amaze), and a froze slush which I enjoyed. Will have to return for the full menu, but only stopped by for some snacks this time. The quality of ingredients from the Burgers to Sandwiches to the soft serve are all amazing. You can really tell that it's great ingredients. Tried the Cali Burger + Cali Chicken Sandwich. Pretty tasty. Excited to try the SM spot which hopefully will open up by the end of the year. Perfect for families, couples, and friends just chillen for great food. Today's only the second day of operation, so they still got sole kinks to work out: I.e. my garlic fries were over-oiled; they had no draft beer, forcing me to get bottled.
