With the popularity of smash burgers taking over all of LA, it can be overwhelming trying them all until you find the one you love the most. Among the top 5 of my favorite smashed burger spots, Burger She Wrote sits on there at #4. Located in West Hollywood, bad parking and high prices are as expected. I mean, you're IN WeHo, what did you expect?? Burger She Wrote has one of the best super smashed burgers. Smashed so wide that the burger ends up looking like a ufo! Crispy crispy edges, sweet Hawaiian bun to balance out the flavor, and crispy handcut fries, yum! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The burger spot is super tiny inside, there's only a few seating inside the place, but there are plenty of outdoor seating tables along the sidewalk.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a poppin' cute little area with a Mexican restaurant next door so it's almost always filled with people, positive vibes, and laughter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Burger She Wrote is what I'd call a classic smashed burger. People woll complain about the price but with the prices of everything increasing, you'll be complaining about basically everything.

It is a fast eating joint with terrible parking situation but the food is good and the frises are done perfectly and [[HIGHLIGHT]]seating outside make it more enjoyable[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]..

What I Ordered: -Oklahoma Burger (Double) $14.00 I've heard a lot of hype surrounding Burger She Wrote, so I was determined to see if this smash burger lived up to it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have to say, Burger She Wrote has a very cool vibe and aesthetic. I especially like the flooring with the green cubes, which look like a really cool Windows 97 screensaver.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also, I love the name; it's a clever pun on the 80s hit TV show, Murder, She Wrote. The staff were okay, not exactly friendly, but I'm here for a burger, not a conversation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are only 5 seats inside, but there is some outdoor seating available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I arrived for a late lunch, and my order was ready quickly. I decided to skip the fries, as the reviews here weren't very positive about them. The burger was just okay - not the best, but not the worst smash burger I've had. It's fine if you're nearby and hungry, but not worth the trip or the traffic. The burger was a bit salty, and with too many condiments, it felt a bit overwhelming. Ketchup, mustard, and mayo seem a bit boring for a trendy smash burger; I would have preferred a secret sauce or even Thousand Island dressing. The burger had too many pickles, but I did enjoy the grilled onions. Overall, the experience was underwhelming. I wouldn't mind paying the $14 price if I had truly loved the burger, especially since I wasn't very full afterwards. Skip this place and try another smash burger spot! It didn't live up to the hype, in my opinion.

Burger She Wrote was founded in 2021 by pro skater Don "The Nuge" Nguyen and restauranteur Steven Arroyo. Love their "Oklahoma Burger" (owner Don Nguyen is originally from Oklahoma City) which is a smash burger with grilled onion smashed into the American wagyu beef patty. They also make a great grilled cheese. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a really nice outdoor sidewalk terrace for seating[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and service was pretty fast.

Overall it's a good smash burger spot, and the staff is super friendly! I would say it can be a bit oily but if you like your burgers with some more fat then it's perfect. The fries were perfect like shoestring fries. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a pretty casual spot so it can be limited spots if it's busy but mainly outdoors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I know. I know. It doesn't look appetizing. But this is underrated. We'll talk about the fries. They're soggy they're not great, but when you dip them in the sauce it taste like a blooming onion. 4/5 We both got a Oklahoma Burger. Plenty of onions, so flavorful. I've been pouring so much sauce in the burger. It's probably the best Smashburger I've had in my life. We came all the way down from San Francisco just to experience LA food. A friend recommended this place and it didn't disappoint. I doordashed since it's far from my hotel.

Came here for the first time one had smasher burgers before and this one takes the cake the flavor was good so was the seasoned fries my bf love this place the service was great the two girls the cook and cashier were sweet and attentive [[HIGHLIGHT]]it's small inside but it a nice place to hang out and eat your burger they have outside seating as well[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I loved it we will be back

As someone who's not a crazy fan of smashburgers, but who DOES enjoy burgers in general... I don't quite get all the hype around some places. Unfortunately, Burger She Wrote is one of them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They're a bit small inside, slightly more (but still not much) outdoor seating[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], and a very decent smashburger, patty a bit on the thinner side, but didn't strike me as too exceptional given all the hype they get. Also, tragically, they were out of french fries when I visited (late lunch). Burger and fries felt sadly incomplete.

Pleasantly surprised by this smashburger! It was tasty and not overly seasoned or oily. The fries were also nice and crisp. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is pretty small and there are a few tables outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was pretty fast too. Street parking wasn't too hard to find on a Saturday afternoon.

I'm eating my way through the different smash burger spots in LA, and it brought me to Burger She Wrote. Clever pun off the hit 80s-90s series "Murder She Wrote," the place actually doesn't have any reference to the TV show, which I believe is a sorely-missed opportunity (Angela Lansbury would be rolling in her grave)... Any case, my partner and I went for lunch, a few minutes after BSW opened. We were second in line, and overall, it wasn't too busy for a weekday-- customers came and went, and I can imagine that it gets busier later in the day and/or on weekends. Service was nice, if minimal, and I appreciate they served our food and drinks promptly. There are only two options: smash burger or Oklahoma burger. We got one of each, originally as single patties, but we ended up getting doubles as a mistake. Not mad, though, as we'd paid for singles! The patties were ENORMOUS and paper-thin, with lovely crispy edges while still being quite juicy and tender in the center. The fact it's A5 wagyu was a nice touch, and I could taste the richness and quality in every bite. Personally, I found the bun (Hawaiian roll-style?) soggy, which unfortunately did not keep its integrity while eating; I wish the buns were toasted for more structure. The fries were too greasy, and not my favorite-- I wouldn't recommend getting them. Overall, decent burger, but not the best smash burger I've had. BSW is also quite expensive ($14 for a double smash burger??). Glad to have tried it, though, and I'm still on the hunt for other smash burgers in town.

3 Smashburger (Double), Hand Cut Fries, and their special fries (in n out copy cat)!

I came back after a couple years and omg!! Still bomb as I remember. They did add a couple special items to their menu and my cousin and brother tried their copy cat in n out fries. I've always loved their fries --you can tell they're made fresh. Their burger... chef's kiss. The people behind the counter were super nice and super quick with our orders. We ordered quite a lot and made it before the lunch rush.

I came here for a birthday party event and I do want to say these are one of the best smash burgers I've had in LA. I would definitely recommend this place to other people. The burger was simple yet very flavorful. The same patty with cheese, pickles, mustard, ketchup, grilled onions were so good. The fries were OK I could live without them. They were a bit on the greasier side. I would say that the order came out relatively quick. The price is about $50 for two meals. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a vibe I definitely would come back[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Had to try this spot just based on the name. Went late one night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super busy place. Very small inside, to go mostly. You can eat outside if you can find a spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff were very nice considering how slammed they were. The food was really fresh & tasted very good.

Ambiance & Food: This reminds me of an old school burger stand. Those were the best burgers and this one did not stop that trend. As I walked up, we were warmly greeted and given a quick rundown of what which burger. They did have specials (I will get to that in a second) which we were intrigued, but for the sake of perspective, I ordered the Goldburger and both regular fries and curly fries with a bottle coke. The Goldburger is naturally a double, but my gymrat protein brain added that extra patty. They use a 70% to 30% mixture for their burger which makes the burger oh so decadent. The picture I took doesn't do it justice. The moment you bite into the burger the combination of burger juice, aioli, burnt skirt, all come together in such a harmonious fashion. It was remarkable. Though fries are not one of my strong points, both fries were crispy and I haven't had any other experience with Curly fries other than Jack in the Box, but these were so much better. That's a lot of food for two people and well worth the price. The DH is as big as you could imagine. They cook it medium rare, which I love...that beast of a burger was so juicy, they should hand out gloves when eating it or at least a 3" high stack of napkins! You have a slight dry aged taste to it, but I am partial to the really funky dry aged. I am talking 45-60-100 day dry aged steaks, but this was just as good for a hamburger. The truffle fries were massive and could easily feed 3 people, maybe 4. We got there just in time to get the corner booth table and watch the line get longer and longer. The Amboy itself was good, nothing special and it reminded me of Bob's Big Boy hamburger sauce, which was a good memory to get back to. I think the most unique aspect are the heavily, sesame seeded buns. They were very soft, but held up to the DH 1/3# burger patty very nicely. The inside was moist and juicy, and the caramelized onions, provolone, and garlic aioli all worked really well together. That said, it was a very heavy burger, and I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had split it in half instead of eating the whole thing on my own. After a few bites, it started to feel like a little too much. From the bite I had of the Amboy Classic, it felt more balanced overall, which made sense as a simpler option. Since I usually go for Asian food when I'm in Chinatown, this was a fun change of pace, and I'm glad I finally made it here. Overall, I think it's worth trying.

Their hot dog is the platonic ideal of what a hot dog should be. The old bay seasoning on their crispy tots is a stroke of genius. The inside is small, so it's basically an outdoor-only seating or take-it-to-go situation. Thankfully a tall brick wall, umbrella-toting picnic tables, and large sails give ample shade to their large lot. There are a few parking spots in the back if you're lucky, otherwise street parking should be easy to find. When enough people showed up to eat, it felt like a backyard kickback. Music was a perfect volume for conversation and their Regular Show-esque bespoke mural gave us a lot to talk about. You put your order in with friendly staff inside, and they call your name on speakers when it's ready. Ice cold water is freely available as well as some select beers, wines, and juices. It's not fast food, but it's not slow either -- you can't rush something as delicious as what they have to offer here.

They have their own parking lot, but it's quite limited. Looks like part of it was under construction for expansion. Here's what I ordered: TATOR TOTS - $6 Fried crispy, tossed in old bay. Exactly how it's described and they delivered it--so good! SINGLE BURGER - $9 3oz patty with cheese, butter toasted bun, mayo, chopped chilies, onion, pickles, tomato, lettuce. Solid smash burger!!!!! Nuff said. I was sad they ran out of hand pies and that I because it was the end of the day. Need to come earlier for them.

Holiday decor was always great to see especially during Halloween. A true loss. Bring it back please! The staff was friendly and very attentive. The wings and drinks themselves were super flavorful and I thought I would have more time to enjoy and come back to visit while in town. My partner also tried their burger and fries and decided to stop by the restaurant only to find out they closed a couple of months ago. It was worth the visit when we went there back in December.z The place was cute and it felt comfy.

I happened to be in the area, and even though I'd already eaten, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to finally drop in. Irv's originally opened in 1946 as Queen's Burgers, located right on Route 66 on Santa Monica Boulevard in WeHo, and was deeply ingrained in LA's historic car culture. In 1970, Irv Genis bought the stand and renamed it Irv's Burgers, and it quickly became a legendary late-night spot for rock icons like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison. By 2000, Sonia Hong took over, famously hand-drawing doodles on the paper plates alongside her signature slogan, "Just for you." After closing in 2013 and again in 2018, Lawrence Longo partnered with Sonia in 2021 to bring the brand back to life. They've since expanded quite a bit, even opening locations in Malibu and Las Vegas. On a staff recommendation, I ordered Irv's Original Roadside Burger Double ($11.25). Honestly, it was just okay. While a certain amount of grease and salt is expected with a burger, this one crossed the line into being a bit too salty and oily. On the bright side, the sesame bun was excellent, and I loved that they kept Sonia's legacy alive by printing her classic doodles on the tray placemats. While I'm glad Irv's was saved from history and is expanding, the food itself felt pretty so-so. The outdoor tables were also a bit dirty during my visit. I still love that classic roadside burger stand aesthetic with the outdoor stools, but unfortunately, I won't be in a rush to head back.

To say I'm super bummed is an understatement. I am so thankful that I happen to stop by for lunch and visit this location one last time. The same manager was there on the last day as when I went the first time two years ago. The staff there was always amazing, friendly, and the food was incredible. I think it was the Chinatown location that didn't work for them. However, the good news is that they do have three other locations and if you have never been, I suggest you check Kroft out if you love burgers, especially smashed. The other locations are in Long Beach, Anaheim, and Rancho Cucamonga. I wish them luck and I will definitely be stopping in their other locations if I am ever in the area.
