Cow Cafe serves coffee, beer and wine all day long from the time they open 'til the time they close at 2:00 or 3:00pm depending on the day. They also serve food. I had avocado toast with an overeasy egg, which was flavorful. It also came with a small side salad with dressing. Happy hour is from 1:00 to 3:00pm. I came around 11 am in hopes to make a quick stop before meeting a beloved friend. Catching up on life errands as life goes on. The location is located at the corner of streets. Street parking is conveniently available. I ordered a decaf latte and have been struck by the busy ebs and flows of people. It's a wonderful area to get into deep conversation with friends. There are a few outlets here and there if you need a place to study. The menu features brunch options that I hope to try another time! The space is cozy. For the last few years, when my wife and I visit either Anime Expo or Los Angeles Comic Con at the LA Convention Center nearby, Cow Cafe has been the place for us to stop and grab some great coffee or some delicious Mediterranean based food that's all reasonably priced. I've always liked the coffee here, particularly just the regular lattes but lately we've been experiencing some of the food - the harissa tacos are filling, delicious, and comforting and the bagel sandwich, which also has harissa, is the perfect blend of carbs and nutritious ingredients like avocado and red onions. The workers here have always been nice although there are times I wish the tables were cleaner. Considering its proximity to some of Downtown LA's busiest areas, Cow Cafe is relatively quiet, and its windows give visitors ample opportunity to look outside its location on a street corner and take in the sights and sounds outside. I have eaten here so many times. Previously, this has been a place. I love to bring out of town friends as it's a walk from my apartment. Typically the service isn't superb but we don't mind waiting 30 minutes for our food. However, today I ordered online at 12:19 was when my order was confirmed. I showed up at 12:48 giving them some extra leeway And they told me my food was almost ready mind you. I only ordered one avocado toast.. I realize the clock had turned 1 PM and waiting over 40 minutes for an avocado toast that has no estimated time of delivery in sight is unacceptable. I was very patient and kind with the worker. They never offered an apology or a solution to fix the problem.. I asked for a refund and they gave it to me with attitude and I said I come here all the time. This is really sad not even an apology is really sad and they smiled at me and said have a good day. I asked for a refund which I now have to wait 3 to 5 business days for and I'm not eating after my multiple mile morning run because of this.. I don't have groceries at home and I planned for this to be my breakfast/lunch. Do better. Ruining peoples day because you can't handle the volume is unacceptable. read more

I'm incredibly picky with my eggs and I love when the yolk comes out, but the egg on the end is crisp and that's exactly how they did my egg. I loved my Avocado Toast with a side of salad. I walked around with resting bitch face like it was nobody's business. Maybe this is karma... Regardless, I do not give that energy as a customer, when I walk into that door. That said, I would appreciate some degree of decorum: Like, a "hello, good morning, you're welcome or a thank you." No chitchat needed, I'm good off all of that. Unsolicited comp: Before Verve closed on Spring St, they were pretty damn kind in there. Multiple employees rotating in front of the register and for the most part--warm, and gave off the bare minimum energy. That matters. They will be missed. At the end of the day, I don't want to bury this place off of a handful of whack experiences, but if I'm thinking this, then 500 customers could be thinking the exact same thing. I work DTLA near Pico and Figueroa. I am always trying to find small businesses to support and on my side of town there aren't as many so I was pleasantly surprised to come across this cute little cafe. When I went in it was clean and adorable. I immediately noticed the clean beverage selection. I tried the hummus toast and the harvest salad with a cold brew coffee. The food was delicious, the hummus was so good. It was fresh and flavorful and when I went back to work I felt good not sluggish. The employee working on this day wasn't the most friendly but also wasn't rude. She really didn't engage too much but that's ok. The food was so good I took my coworker there a few days later and we split the Spanish pizza and forever summer sandwich. Both were so flavorful and amazing! Everything was so good I took a menu back to my office. This is a breakfast lunch spot with healthier Mediterranean options on the menu. I feel like I found a hidden gem and I think this time the lady helping us might have been the owner, she was so sweet. I'm definitely adding this cafe to my rotating options. I want to try more! I always pass by here when going to work so I decided to try it out! It's very chill & a nice place to study, though they do not have WiFi. As for food, I wanted to make my own bagel with hummus, tomato & feta cheese, totaling around $7! It was fairly filling & delicious :). No complaints at all about the service; cashiers were very nice & greeted everyone with a smile! As I was driving, I saw this placed and it looked like a good coffee shop to visit. Upon walking inside, the ambiance was very appealing. It was welcoming and good colors. The barista greeted me and pointed at the menu. I had an iced mocha with oatmilk and it's the best iced mocha I've tasted. Certainly better than Starbucks. I also tried the almond butter toast topped with banana. It was $8.50 and I was sort of expecting a small toast. However, when he brought it to me, it was HUGE. It was from a large loaf and about an inch of a slice. I see why it was that price. I spent about $17 (before tip) with those two items so it is a little pricey but it's still a nice place. What a disappointment. We were really excited to try Cow as it came recommended by a friend, but it really dropped the ball. First of all, the place only had one employee and he was obviously behind on side work and such because the place was a MESS. All the tables and seats were filthy and when we commented on it, he just shrugged. They were out of all food - which was great for the business but they were completely out of cold brew - the one thing I wanted. I asked if I could have have iced coffee and he told me "they don't do that there." And I asked why and he said "We just don't." Then I asked for a cup of ice and coffee and he stared at me. I gave up and told him I just wanted a blast of cold, high-caf coffee and I would pass and go elsewhere. My partner ordered a drink and said employee asked him for his name. He spelled out his name and when it came time for his drink, he shouted out the drink type. Why ask for his name if you're just going to shout out the drink to the ONLY TWO PEOPLE HERE? I asked for a napkin or rag to clean up the table and wipe up the drops we spilled from my partner's drink but he vanished on us. I'm sorry that we obviously came at the end of a rush but the service was non-existent. Disappointing. read more

It's a vegetarian and Mediterranean inspired cafe, and the food is delicious. Vegan options too. Variety of milk options for your tea and coffee. I appreciate the early hours. They open at 8am, even on weekends. They are closed on Mondays. I loved my harissa scramble today, and the bread is amazing too. My friend loved her cow toast, made with homemade hummus. Came here this past Saturday morning for the first time. The service was super friendly and fast. It was busy for 10am, but there was seating, very nice decor. I grabbed and architecture book and enjoyed a vanilla latte, we ordered the chilaquiles and the avo toast. The chilaquiles were fresh, I got my egg scrambled, the salsa was very tasty, whoever made it knows how to make a damn good salsa. The tortillas were crunchy and saucy and I enjoyed it so much. The avocado toast had a generous portion of mash, it was fresh and lemony and came with a side of lightly dressed arugula. I wish I came by a year ago cause then I would have eaten here everyday. It's the epitome of a friendly neighborhood cafe with lots of espresso beverages and menu items. I got an iced oat latte and the jam & labne toast. The latte is pretty standard in terms of taste. Jam & labne toast was quite delicious. Per the barista, labne is a tart Mediterranean yogurt cheese spread that's quite similar to cream cheese and already pre-spread on the sliced country bread.
