mango cream latte + fried chicken sando
    Lindy C.

Nice cafe spot! I was surprised by the offerings and how delicious the food was, as sometimes I feel like food at cafes are not worth its value. Service was friendly. The man calling out the orders of the food seemed very nice too. I got a mango latte (espresso) and a fried chicken sandwich. The drink is on the more expensive side ($8) but it was decadent and smoooth. I personally like my coffee stronger / lower milk ratio but it was yummy regardless. I loved how there were real mango pieces at the bottom. Now onto the spotlight of this study trek - the fried chicken sando. I was in awe of the thick bread it was presented on and the coating of the sauce. I didn't expect there to be sauce but it was really good! It reminded me of korean fried chicken but in a sandwich. The chicken was good and the lettuce helped provide a bit of freshness from the heaviness of the bread and coated chicken. Onto seating - it's a decently sized cafe but it is busy. There are indoor and outdoor seats with a variety of small tables to big tables that could be shared between 8 people. The indoor seating seems more popular as that's where outlets are located. I saw other reviews mention free parking but I was unable to locate it. However, there's street parking close by as well for another option.

Love this place. This corner has been a few things over the years, and it's a joy to discover Cafe Mogoo has arrived with so much to offer. Breakfast/lunchy foods, plus coffee and sweet drinks in a laid-back and comfortable setting. Students, friends, families, nearby professionals all seem to know about this coffee shop -- that is much more than just a coffee shop. My espresso drink was the Spanish latte - and I really liked it. Though I typically don't want anything in my coffee, this was worth the gamble. Not too sweet, but still very satisfying. The menu is easily accessible on the wall behind the counter, or at the counter in print, or at the digital kiosk when you first walk in. I enjoyed the Shakshouka for brunch. A zesty sauce with the eggs dropped in. Though the eggs were more cooked than I typically prefer, they were very good -- plus I probably messed up the timing with taking pictures. Served with toast. I completely bypassed all the great-looking pastries. However, I did order a side of the chicken that is found in their Fried Chicken Sando. Nothing fancy, but fresh and crunchy and just enough kick. Great way to sample this chicken. The Bagel Salmon Sandwich is also very good -- I had a bite of that. I love the booths and tables and different types of seating options here. Nice place for taking a breather, or doing a bit of work. Glad to have found Cafe Mogoo, and I look forward to coming back!

One my new cafe obsessions in Ktown! Easy parking, lots of seating & outlets. The strawberry matcha & tuna melt was so good! Cute decor inside as well. Love that in addition to the booth/table seating I show a picture of, there's a row of more "counter" seating with outlets. Great for solo guests so seating space is optimized in my opinion. Love it!

Chill cafe. Order at the kiosk by the door and they call your name. Tried their strawberry banana smoothie with almond milk. He had green tea. Sat in the private area by the front of the restaurant at the community table. Very tastefully designed with interesting light fixtures. Servers were fine. Smoothie was good, not too sweet. Restrooms need a code.

Nice study spot with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We ended up finding street parking next to the cafe. Ordered through a kiosk, which was convenient. We ordered the Matcha Einspanner, Banana Cream Latte, Mango Cream, and basque cheesecake for about $40 total. In my opinion, it was a bit on the pricier side. Unfortunately, the drinks were disappointing. The matcha mostly tasted like milk, and while the coffees were okay, I probably wouldn't order them again. The standout was definitely the basque cheesecake. It was really good and something I would come back for.

There's free parking garage next to the cafe. We ordered Matcha Einspanner and Banana Cream Matcha per recommendation of the staff. It's actually the best Banana Cream Matcha I've ever had. The Banana Cream was so spot on and well blended with Matcha. We also ordered the following: Mogoodog Sausage- the bread was toasted well, delicious and generous portion of sausage Tuna Melt- first time to ever tried one that is loaded with veggies, it was good but I was missing a distinct taste of tuna Taiyaki Croissant- the breading was soft and delicious, I liked the Nutella better than the Custard The place has several tables and chairs and even has outdoor seats.

Picked up a matcha einspänner (with oat milk) after a workout at Cafe Mogoo. Service was minimal, but pleasant and the café is spacious with plenty of outlets to get work done. My drink was, unfortunately, very oat milk-forward, even when I mixed it; I wish the matcha had been stronger. Cute café, but just-okay matcha.

Oh man, I really love this place. I initially stopped in because I work right by here, but after a while, I started to look forward to my time at Cafe Mogoo. The coffee is great -- I've had the Banana Cream Latte (my favorite, it's so good if you like banana!!) and the Dalgona Latte. The Yuzu Matcha Tonic as well. Recently, I ordered the Bulgogi sandwich on the recommendation of one of the servers and it was excellent! It's so big and very tasty -- just an incredible combo of flavors. The cafe also has lots of tables to get work done and good Wifi as well.

Banana cream matcha was a perfect balance of creamy and refreshing while not being overpoweringly sweet. Parking isn't so hard to find, but I'm usually here at night time since this cafe is always open late. Good spacious spot for late night work and studying! Also you can find lots of outlets here, something a lot of cafes lack.

I got a matcha einspanner and for the most part it was pretty solid. I was able to taste the matcha but i thought it was on the sweeter side so i would probably ask for less sweet next time. the food and their drink menu looks really good which makes it a nice place to stay for a while and get some work done and not starve. There are limited outlets where the tables are but there is a middle seat aisle with outlets if you don't mind sitting there. The service was nice and friendly and the inside had plenty of seating. there is also free parking in the back!

I got the oat milk latte, wasn't expecting much, but turned out to be very good, will definitely come back, definitely, ‍

Strawberry Matcha Cream Latte and Matcha Affogato
    Robin A.

Was here on Labor Day with a friend and noticed they had a new menu item; Matcha Affogato! I hope they keep their on the menu as they can be creative with this dessert! It was a bit busier than normal but there was still plenty of sitting inside which was lovely! We didn't wait that long at all for our order and the staff was friendly per usual!

My husband and I came for some after dinner coffee and dessert. The ambience is very calm and quite a few people are studying. There is plenty of room for that! Omg so many plugs are available... almost wish I were studying again. The caffeine hit the spot and the taiyakis were really yummy....worth the wait because they are fresh!

It remains a unique addition to the neighborhood, as well as a good place to grab some interesting dishes. Since the opening of this particular business, the Zinc chain has opened in a few other locations. Those locations are much newer in not only their establishment but their design. This is not to say that this is still not an interesting, well-designed business, but, with time, it has become a little bit rundown. I hate to say it, but that is the truth. This location could really use an update and perhaps a deep cleaning. I was, in fact, kind of surprised at the condition of this business, for example, on the way towards their restrooms. From my opinion, it needs an clean up and an update. Also, the litter that surrounded some of the outdoor tables where I was sitting at my most recent visit was very surprising. This is just something to keep in mind if you're coming here for your first visit. In terms of what they offer for food, though it has evolved a bit over the years, they still have a great, heath-based menu, with some very interesting choices. For all of you vegetarians and vegans out there, you will, for sure, be able to find some tasty food to eat. Once upon a time, this restaurant was impacted with tons and tons of people. It was constantly full with people either going to the bakery and/or sitting down for table service. Shortly past their opening each day, there would be a line of people waiting for service. This seems to have changed, however. Meaning, if you're looking for an interesting place to eat, with some good dishes, at the far Southeast side of DTLA, near the lofts district, and you want a place without a long wait to get a table and/or your food, this may still be your place to go.

If it's your first time visiting Sampa, you have to be open minded towards the concept itself. Yes, the dishes here are smaller in portion and costs more than your typical fast casual spot. All the servers here are attentive and offer to help with what to order if you're unsure. For dinner, the Crispy Pasta is their take on crispy pata but served with spinach tagliatelle. The crab fat fried rice is a no brainer and depending on the night you come, I highly recommend the Sinigang xiaolongbao special. WORDS TO DESCRIBE SAMPA: Elevated dining, speakeasy vibes, quality food and service PARKING: Parking can be difficult since it is close to the Arts District, you may want to park in the Public Parking Lot areas FOOD: Lechon fried rice: This dish was exquisite! I loved all of the colors in the rice, which include the fried pork belly, the golden egg yolks, and the pigments of the atchara (atchara: pickled vegetables such as papaya, scallions, and carrots). When I took my first bite of the fried rice, the blend of all of them together was scrumptious! Yes order this dish! 5/5 STEAKSILOG: I would order just the steak alone! The skirt steak was savory, juicy, and mouthwatering! Yummy! 4.5/5 Kare Kare Tamales: This dish was delicious! Kare Kare is one of my favorite Filipino dishes, so when I saw it paired with tamales I was immediately intrigued. The presentation was beautiful. The flavor was rich and unique. The oxtail was tender and the peanut sauce paired well with the savoriness. 4/5 CHICKEN AND PANDAN WAFFLE: This plate was their take on chicken and waffles. The pandan flavor was there, but I wish the waffle was thick, instead it had a crispy thin cookie like texture. 3.5/5 DRINKS: Bartender has skills! Beauty in the booze! I appreciated the artistry in creating our beverages. I loved the details of the flowers and layers of color. Cheers! All in all I had a great time eating at Sampa! I loved the food and service! Their salads are actually great (this is coming from me, usually a salad hater.) The potato appetizers. Now from the entrees: I was pretty shocked by the eggs benedict popover and the bacon steak. Namely because these are generally pretty straightforward brunch dishes, but they were just so much better here than other places I've had them. I don't know what the secret is for the benedict popover - is it something they put in the benedict sauce? The way the ingredients come together? Whatever it is, it's perfect. For the bacon steak - it cut like butter, and wasn't too salty, sweet, or chewy / thick. So good!
