I've been to Community Goods a handful of times now, and my opinion has always stayed the same: this place is absolutely worth the hype. The lines can be incredibly long. I've had visits where I waited over an hour and others where I was in and out in under 10 minutes. From my experience, the best time to go is in the middle of the week between 11 am and 3 pm. The shop itself is very small, so when it gets busy, the line often wraps outside. Parking is also street parking, and you may have to park farther down and walk over during peak times. Despite the crowds, the staff is always friendly and works quickly for the amount of people they're serving. My favorites are the Matcha Einspanner and Hojicha Einspanner with whole milk. Both are SO smooth with strong tea flavors. The matcha leans nutty, which I love, while the hojicha has such a rich, earthy flavor. This is genuinely one of the best places I've had matcha and hojicha, and I've tried a lot of both. The Breakfast Sliders are another favorite and absolutely worth getting if you make it before they stop serving them. They're delicious on their own, but the sauces that come with them make them even better. No matter how busy Community Goods gets, I always find myself coming back whenever I'm in the area. If you love matcha or hojicha, this is an absolute must-try.
I can see why this place has been really popular. I kinda drank the matcha so quick since it was that good. I got there a couple mins before opening and there was already a line. I think I waited about an hour and half from the time I got in line to the time my drink came out.
I heard enormous hype regarding Community Goods and as a tourist, I definitely wanted to give it a shot. However, I left wondering how the standard for food and drinks can be so low despite paying premium prices. When we arrived, we lined up for approximate 20 minutes. I loved the homey cabin like vibes and the simple, but iconic branding. We ordered a couple drinks and the turkey and chicken cutlet sandwich. When I tried my matcha latte, it did not have much matcha flavour and tasted mostly like milk. The colour also suggests to me that there is not much matcha in the drink. My friend described her einspanner latte as average, but way too sweet. When we tried our sandwiches, the bread was dry and the sandwich was not very flavourful, although there was ample amount of ingredients inside. However, it was not enough for either of us to finish our sandwiches completely. This might be LA's finest, but it's weak compared to matcha, coffee, and sandwiches back home. Maybe I'll come at the right time and give the famous sliders a shot next time!
While there are other excellent matcha shops in Los Angeles (especially in Koreatown), Community Goods is perhaps the most popular matcha shop in Los Angeles (located just three blocks away from the Melrose Trading Post). Visiting this matcha shop is essentially a quintessential LA experience. For many visitors or influencers coming to LA, visiting Community Goods is the equivalent of visiting Erewhon and taking a picture of a $20 smoothie. Heck, it was my very first time waiting this long (approximately 45 minutes) for a cup of matcha. This is the flagship store with another location at the Pacific Design Center. [Parking]: Street parking only (I parked on Hayworth Ave). Metered parking is free before 11 AM on Sundays and before 8 AM on other days. [Ordering]: Waiting in line here is part of the whole experience. Our party began waiting at 9:25 AM on Sunday and stepped inside the cafe at 10:10 AM. While our party was waiting, there was a group of musicians playing on the sidewalk and filming sessions for music videos. [Atmosphere]: No indoor tables, but there are some outdoor tables just around the corner from the shop's entrance and two benches on the sidewalk. [Menu]: Yelp's top two drinks to order here are the Matcha Latte and Matcha Einspanner (not explicitly listed as a Matcha Einspanner on the menu, but you can still ask for it). The shop also sells food such as Breakfast Sliders (served until 12 PM Monday - Friday and 1 PM on Saturday and Sunday) and sandwiches (served from 11 AM daily). *** Breakfast Sliders (Scrambled eggs, American cheese, house made hot sauce on toasted Hawaiian rolls - $12.00 + Avocado $2.50 + Bacon $2.50): The sliders were cut into 4 pieces. I was glad I ordered this because the sliders tasted quite good and were made with fresh ingredients. Definitely add bacon and avocado as they enhanced the overall flavor profile. I am also a fan of the sweet and spicy sauce, but the extra side of green sauce tasted just alright. Matcha Spanner (Sweetened cream, sea salt, cocoa powder, double espresso - $8.50): Not an overwhelmingly strong drink, but I could definitely taste the matcha and the drink was milkier than I had expected. Hojicha Spanner (Sweetened cream, sea salt, cocoa powder, double espresso - $8.00): Same strength as matcha and the drink was actually quite good - at least hojicha did not taste like chocolate. *** Solid and quality drinks, but I am not sure I would wait one hour for them when I can visit Koreatown and find similar quality drinks with shorter lines.

I ordered a matcha latte with the vanilla sweetener and a hojicha latte with the maple sweetener. The drinks themselves don't come with sweetener, but the cashier recommended I add sweetener to the drinks for an additional 75 cents each. Honestly, the only reason this place got more than one star is because of the hojicha latte and the fact that they had a bathroom. The hojicha latte was fine, but not worth the wait. The matcha latte, on the other hand, I would not get again even if there was no line. Yes, the matcha was smooth, but the vanilla overpowered any matcha flavor the drink could've possibly had. I didn't taste matcha at all and it just tasted like sweet milk.. truly disappointing for a place a bunch of people recommended.. Honestly, I would rather go somewhere else!
Stopped by to see what all the hype was about. I wanted to order the matcha and sliders but unfortunately you can't customize the sliders and remove egg so I ordered the matcha latte with vanilla syrup. The matcha was decent and sweet and earth. However for a $9 price point, they put way too much ice In Such a small cup! I had to ask for less ice (see photo below) . Staff were nice and friendly, small location so two benches to sit while you wait but not for you to sip and enjoy. They have seating in the back outside but only street parking. The line gets long quick so if you're in a rush, get there early!!
Is the social media hype justified? Sure. Probably in my top 3 matcha spots, at least for einspanner. Had great taste, right amount of sweetness, and did not taste watery. Do be aware that the cup is on the smaller side than most places. Unfortunately did not get to try the breakfast sliders everyone has talked about so I will be back to try those another time. The overall cafe is pretty small but it's a got a cool aesthetic. Has a nice seating area around the outside with shade. Do expect to wait in line and parking can be a challenge as most spots in the area are usually taken as it's street parking. Went on a Saturday afternoon and waited about 25 minutes. I don't think I would wait anymore than that for this place but it's worth checking out. The staff are very kind too.

There were no umbrellas or shade, so it wasn't the most comfortable wait. We waited about 30-35 minutes before it was finally our turn to order. We got their signature matcha, and it was really good! We especially loved the cream, which I think is one of the reasons the matcha tasted so good. The only downside is that it's a bit pricey for the size of the drink. But it is one of the best matcha I've had in SoCal. There's no indoor seating, either. There are a few benches where you can sit and wait, but no tables. The proper seating with tables is all outside. Parking can also be difficult to find since it's mostly street parking. I'd still recommend giving this place a try if you have the time! I've heard the wait can be as long as 1-2 hours on weekends, so I'd definitely recommend going on a weekday if you can.
Community Goods is such a nice coffee shop. My friend had been telling me how good their coffee and matcha were, so we finally had to stop by. It was my first time, and even though I'm definitely not a fan of waiting in long lines, this one was 100% worth the wait. The Einspanner latte was a 10/10, the Einspanner matcha was a 10/10, and the banana bread was also a 10/10. Everything we tried hit the spot. Great drinks, good vibes, and definitely a place I'll be coming back to.
Finally got to try this place and it is indeed worth the hype!! Came by late Saturday afternoon and luckily found street parking in the residential area a block away. I can imagine it's probably always hard to find parking here. Surprisingly the line wasn't as long as I expected since I have seen some pictures where the line wraps around to the main street. Waited around 30-40 min and ordered the matcha and coffee einspanner. I liked the coffee more after the cream got mixed in because the matcha with cream tasted a bit too sweet for me. Both were delicious and would definitely come back to wait in line with friends or something to make the time go by quicker!
Lines and a wait but the lines move fast. prices are about the same as other shops. They have a bunch of pastries. I tried the maple hojicha matcha latte. It did give off nutty flavor almost like cacao. The matcha eispanner was also another one I tried and it was definitely the better Choice of The two it was creamy and has subtle Matcha flavors. I've had better matcha without having to wait as long.
Community Goods is such a cute spot!! I got the matcha and a breakfast sandwich when they had it and the matcha was genuinely a 10/10. I got the spanner matcha latte and the foam was super good! Super good flavor and definitely one of the better matchas I've had lately The sandwich was also really good. I'd give it an 8/10! This place definitely has good choices and amazing drinks but if you're not willing to wait you can def find other places to go that have similar options. Community Goods was really good. The place is pretty small and it was busy when I went, but the line moved faster than I expected and the staff was really nice. The matcha was probably my favorite part. It was smooth, not too sweet, and you could actually taste the matcha instead of it just tasting like milk and sugar. It had a little bitterness to it, but nothing crazy. The whole place has a really nice vibe too. Parking and the crowd can be a little annoying, but I'd definitely come back, especially for the matcha.

#39 in my SOCAL COFFEE SHOP SERIES This review is solely based on their matcha. Came on a Monday around 2:25pm and waited about 20 minutes in line. The matcha came out pretty quickly (maybe 1 minute), and the food took around 5 minutes. I got the popular matcha einspänner, and unfortunately there aren't any adjustments you can make to the ice or sweetness. It was good and you could definitely taste the matcha, but I personally wish the matcha flavor was stronger. The cold foam was solid. Overall, I'd say it was good, but not the best matcha I've had, especially for the wait and popularity of the place. I wouldn't wait in line again specifically for it. Also got the banana bread, which was good! Nothing amazing, but solid. The sliders apparently sell out early in the morning, so keep that in mind if you're coming later. Parking was surprisingly easy when I went, which was a plus! read more

Incredible Matcha in all of USA. Heard a lot of hype about community goods on social media, but honestly wasn't expecting much. However, for once the rumors were true. This place makes the best Matcha latte! Tried the regular Matcha with almond milk, which was spectacular. The Matcha Einspanner with sweet cream was also phenomenal. The sweet cream has a slight corn flavor to it, which is absolutely incredible. Highly recommend both for all matcha lovers. Depending on how much sweetness you prefer. Also,m for light bites, the pistachio toast was absolutely splendid. Also tried their famous breakfast sliders were just mediocre in my opinion. Personally, I do not like the Hawaiian rolls due to a slight sweetness in their bun which may have been reason for my lower rating when it comes to this order. Overall, a great Matcha house that I'll continue to visit time and time again. Always a line so make sure you give yourself at least 45 minutes read more

She's a little overhyped, but still serves up a very yummy matcha that's worth at least one visit if you're in LA! Go on a weekday so the wait is a bit more bearable (I waited about 30-40 minutes on a weekday midday). The matcha latte with a cream top was rich and sweet - I loved it, but I had a few friends that thought it was too much. More of a sweet treat drink than a sophisticated matcha, but I'm not complaining. Inside there isn't any seating, and the line does wrap around one time indoors. They're quite busy but do get the drinks out pretty quick! Food options were sold out by the time I got there around noon. Community goods is an LA essential for a reason, it was fun to visit and if I'm around it I'd stop by again! read more
After finding out the Pacific Design Center kiosk didn't serve food, we made our way to the original Community Goods. We got there early on a Saturday morning, so street parking wasn't too difficult, but there was already a pretty long line. Thankfully, it moved steadily--we waited about 45 minutes. We came for the famous bacon sliders, and they definitely lived up to the hype. Delicious! Overall, it was a great breakfast, though I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to wait in line again unless I happened to be in the area bright and early. read more

I decided to stop by before going to the pantages theater. There was a line but honestly wasn't as long the first time I tried coming. The wait was probably 20 minutes. I decided to get two drinks since I waited a while. I decided to go with the Einspanner Latte and the Hojicha Latte iced. My favorite has to be the Einspanner latte. The taste of espresso gave me life and the energy for that day. The Hojicha latte tasted earthy and realized that drink is not for me. I also got a brown butter cookie which was delicious. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone. They have cute stuff to buy. There is seating outside but it is limited. read more
So silly me, I got in line before breakfast was over but the line was so long that I couldn't get breakfast anymore because I didn't get to the counter in time. I think Community Goods is one of the most overhyped places by far. I'm not saying the matcha wasn't good, but it's like....1.5 hours forrrr? Not hating just saying. I also got the toast with passionfruit butter or something of the sort, wasn't bad but again, not worth 1.5 hours. read more
Went on Valentine's Day a while back. The line was around 25-30 minutes long. The store is pretty small and has a bit of seating outdoors. By the time we got there, they already stopped selling the sliders but I heard they were very good. The drink itself was so good, def in my top 5 matcha spots. read more
The hype is real for these drinks here. We got a latte and the hojicha and they tasted so good. There's usually always a line but it moves quickly. We got there within an hour of opening and waited about 20 mins in line until getting to the cashier. There's a space outside in the back to sit and drink or eat. The workers are friendly and efficient. read more
I waited more than an hour with a friend during peak time on a weekday morning. Their matcha was smooth, creamy, and had a nice earthy flavor without being too bitter or overly sweet. While it was simple, I do not believe I would wait in line for that long again. Still worth a try however! read more
Best unemployment activity in LA!! The lines are unreal, but I understand the hype. I only come here exactly at opening time and the wait is about 15-20 minutes. Personally, Community Goods isn't worth more than a 40 minute wait, so I'll never come mid-day. Love the Matcha Einspanner since it's already sweetened, but if you get a different matcha latte it doesn't default with sweetener. You can choose for your drink to be sweetened with maple syrup, vanilla, or honey. I like the vanilla syrup. The inside is cramped and it's all standing room. There is some seating outside, but it'll likely be taken. read more
Overall: The wait isn't too bad if you come *super* early and you're waiting in line with a friend :) The drinks are really good, so I'd say try it at least once if you're able to come early. Line/Wait: - Came on a Saturday and joined the line around 7:45 am (opens at 8). The line was out the door, but thankfully didn't turn the corner yet! By the time we got our drinks and stepped out, it was 8:35 am--so about 50 min total. - The line was SO long when we left (around 9 am) and packed *tight* with people waiting. IMO we probably would've just left if the line was that dense when we came. Parking: - It's generally difficult to find parking in the area, but we were able to find street parking along Melrose when we arrived (early morning). The parking meter was 1.50/hour, 2 hrs max. 8a-8p from Mon-Sat, 11a-8p on Sundays. Seating: - There's limited seating in the back, and the little walkway to the left leading to it. Not a lot of spaces to sit, but the surrounding greenery is pretty to look at while you drink. Drinks: - Matcha Einspanner: I prefer my matcha unsweetened and am a bit wary of sweet matcha, but I didn't mind the sweetness of this one at all! It goes well with the matcha and doesn't just feel like a simple syrup thrown into the drink. The creaminess and sweetness is tempered with the sea salt on top, and it comes together with the matcha to make a surprisingly yummy drink. I recommend mixing the drink after your initial sips. :) - Einspanner (w Espresso): Tried my partner's drink, and it was just as delicious! The espresso itself was really smooth, and balanced the sweet cream nicely-- it tasted sweet and creamy without tasting completely like a coffee ice cream. REALLY good! Community Goods is unfortunately/fortunately worth the wait for their matcha einspanners. The matcha is slightly earthy, but the pleasantly salty cream foam is the real standout and what keeps me coming back. It seems like the salted foam is delivered to the store. There always seems to be a line, but their staff works very efficiently. Only a couple benches inside to sit while waiting in line. We finally tried the hyped-up sliders, but they were disappointing. The texture felt very one-note...soft, untoasted Hawaiian buns, thick fluffy egg, and even more so with the avocado we added. Flavor-wise, they were plain and unimpressive. The bacon add-on helped by adding some crispy, smoky texture. The sweet-and-sour sauce brought a bit more dimension, while the tangy mayo wasn't particularly memorable. Since Community Goods is on Melrose and close to a lot of LA hotspots, I often find myself stopping by when I'm in the area. Great matcha but the sliders aren't worth it. read more
I took two stars off because the wait makes it not worth it but the overnight oats and iced hojicha einspanner does. I waited an hour for everything. The line was full of restless people and It was overwhelming. It was hot outside. It's pricey also. But my food was delicious. I recommend but beware you need to make it an event instead of a stop. The staff was friendly despite the amount of people. Waiting in line at community goods is the equivalent of dining at a restaurant start to finish. That includes finding somewhere to park. So if you have a day off work and have time to kill but also want to get hard earned coffee come here It's pretty good but make your wait worth it and get the oats. read more
Let's be real, this is the most LA place to line up for. Came on a weekday morning and the line was about 25 minutes. Food: The egg sliders were tasty and a bit sweet. Nothing complex about it. Drink: the Matcha was good but not worth waiting in line for. Overall, what can I say that someone else hasn't already said about this place? It's good, so try it at least once and see if you're willing to wait on a line again. Side note: when leaving, someone drove by, rolled down their window and yelled "go get jobs" to everyone waiting in line. The whole crowed laughed and I was just stuffing my face with food. P.S. The line is always ridiculous which we all know. You must come latest at 11 if you wanna get the sliders. Nothing less, the wait is worth it, they serve one of my most favorite matchas in LA and the sliders really hit! Always super fresh and juicy - the egg is perfect with pairing of the rest. Their coffee is always amazing as well. Tried the pistachio toast and expected something else but it wasn't bad. read more
3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 stars. I was part of that hive group who thought there wouldn't be a line here during Coachella. My friend and I arrived at 8:45am on a Saturday and there line wrapped around the block. Street parking was easy enough across thw street with a paid meter. We waited in line for almost 2 hours. The interior of the store is very cramped. Interestingly enough, they have random goods for sale like pimple patches and chili. Its hard to browse though while lining. When we got to the front, I got distracted with their pastry display. We ordered a ham and cheese danish, breakfast sliders, a matcha latte, a vanilla bean latte, and an einspanner latte. Then we shuffled to the side to wait. The wait wasn't too long but it was awkward to wait and be blocking the pick up counter lol. The sliders are pretty tasty but definitely not worth the price at all. The sauce it comes with is pretty good, sweet and spicy. The ham and cheese danish was pretty standard. I heard a girl say their matcha changed her life but sadly it did not change mine. It was very milky. The vanilla bean latte and einspanner were also just okay. Would I come back? Nah. Not worth the wait and in the competitive coffee shop era in LA, there are just so many out there that are just as good and without the wait and hefty price tag. read more
The iced matcha latte was pretty solid. From the first sip, you can taste the mellow-high quality matcha with earthy, a little bit nutty, and creamy taste and texture. It was well-emulsified - no clunkiness, making the sips very silky and velvety especially with the foam. Was it worth it though? Probably or probably not, depending on your mood. If you have the patience and time of the day to look for parking, stand in a long line under the bright sunlight, and wait in a crowded and limited space inside for your drink, then yes. If not, then I suggest going somewhere else. While the iced matcha latte was better than average, all of the other factors make it not worth buying. read more
If you've ever heard of this place, then you also know that there's always a very long line for getting matcha here. I, personally, am not really a big matcha person so I was skeptical on how good it could really be BUT yes, it is THAT good. I first had Community Goods and their matcha at Eeeeeatscon as a vendor, and thought it was good there so I wanted to see how the brick & mortar location stacked up to it. I arrived at around 2:30pm-3pm on a Saturday and sure enough, there was a long queue out the door the stretched to the intersection on Melrose. I didn't think the wait was too bad; it was about 30-40 mins. to order. But also, it only took about 3-5 mins. after ordering to receive my drink, a Matcha Einspanner, which is essentially a matcha latte with an added thick, whipped cream. As I mentioned earlier, I am not an aficionado of matcha (I'm not a big fan of earthy, grassy flavors) so I prefer a sweeter, milkier version of any matcha drink I have and Community Goods really hit the mark with this one. Pleasant and not overwhelming matcha taste with the sweet, luscious cream and a pinch of salt for a bit of extra delight. Definitely my favorite matcha drink I would get over and over again in my rotation! It's a small, cozy interior with no seating for consumption of your drinks and food, but outside the building, you can find a few tables and benches to enjoy your drinks! Line does get shorter from around 4pm so if you want to wait a little less, I would recommend arriving around that time! OVERALL : This place has become THE spot for matcha in LA, and I can see why the lines are always long! They have a fairly simple menu with coffee / matcha / hojicha and some foods served during limited hours. Despite the long lines, things move pretty quickly and the drinks came out quick after ordering. Service was fast and friendly despite the line. I waiting maybe 30ish mins? No seating inside, but they have outdoor seating on the side! More of a grab and go place though. They use Rocky's Matcha and that's what most come here for! PARKING : Located in LA, so street parking as usual for this area! We're usually able to find a spot in some of the side streets later into the day on weekends, but sometimes I also park further and walk up and down the shops, stopping by here for drinks. FOOD/DRINKS : Matcha Einspanner - The cream on top was lightly sweet and paired well with the matcha. They had a matcha shaker jar if you wanted to top off with more matcha powder, but it already came with some sprinked on top of the foam. The matcha itself was smooth -- not too earthy or bitter. this is basically your run of the milll coffee shop slinging breakfast sandwiches, matcha ( like everyone and their Mama) and coffee drinks.Nothing to get excited about. Arrived at 10:30 AM , waited roughly 35 /minutes till we placed the order. They use Kings Hawaiian bread for the sandwich I had and they source out their pastries. Very straight forward breakfast stuff you're getting everywhere else. Amazing what a celebrity citing can do for your business and catapult ( such as this place). The sauces both pictured ( the green ) would go perfectly with a Filet O' Fish... and the (orange)) has a little kick.The service was straight forward breakfast stuff, it's really cramped inside ( super /small) with a few tables surrounding the property.
