Yum! I really enjoyed this ham and cheese croissant from Maru Coffee on a recent trip to LA. It ended up being around $8. The Croissant was flaky and buttery, the cheese added a nice bite and the whole experience felt aesthetically pleasing and decadent.

just like many places in la, you must find street parking to come here! saw this spot pop up a lot recently and decided to give it a try! i ordered the vanilla bean latte 50% sweet and it was yummy! expect a line cause this place is usually pretty busy.

Had heard about this place forever ago and finally got to try it, and I really liked it! The vibe is minimalist Japanese aesthetic: clean, peaceful, calming. The workers were super kind and not pretentious at all (which honestly matters, iykyk). Got an espresso and a matcha with almond milk and both were SO good. High quality, balanced, delicious. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

Wow... literally the smoothest coffee I've ever had. Cannot wait to come back again to try more!! The storefront was so aesthetic and clean. Seemed like there was a mix of people working and other groups of people that were talking. Definitely recommend!

A little disappointed.. I ordered an iced matcha with cream top and the barista said they don't do cream top for matcha.. which makes no sense since it was just in a pitcher and all they need to do is pour it in. I looked on Yelp and majority of the matcha pictures had cream top on it too. My husband and father in law got a cold brew and it's smooth and fruity. But still.. I wanted my cream top lol

This was my first visit to Maru, and it definitely won't be my last. I ordered an iced chai latte, and it was hands down the best I've ever had. The flavor was bold and well-balanced without being overpowering, and I loved the subtle touch of star anise--it added a unique and elevated twist. The service was friendly and efficient, which made the experience even better. The space itself is beautiful, its very modern, clean, and inviting, making it a great spot to sit and unwind. And I can't forget the chocolate chunk cookie, it was absolutely delicious. It had the perfect balance of chocolate chunks in every bite, giving it a rich flavor. The cookie itself was on the thinner side, which allowed it to bake evenly throughout. It had a crisp exterior with a soft, tender interior that wasn't underbaked at all. Honestly, one of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had.

Coffee was very good I ordered a vanilla latte. The coffee shop is gorgeous and spacious. Service was fast and professional. I would definitely recommend

I visited Maru Coffee in Downtown LA on 1/19/2025 and 10/19/2022. In 2022, I came here with my friends, and on January 10th, 2025, I came with my family. As famous as this place is for its coffee, really good. I especially love their Cream Top coffee. All of the staff here are friendly, the coffee is delicious, and overall it's a good coffee shop. The only downside is that parking can be difficult to find. But somehow I always seem to have amazing parking luck. Whenever I go anywhere, a parking spot magically opens right in front of me. Even during the Christmas shopping season, when people say they drive around for over an hour looking for parking spaces, I somehow always get a spot right away. Another small downside is that the seating area is a bit limited, so it feels crowded.

Trendy crowd .. I've been to both locations and they both hold a good long line and wait time is reasonable .. with the wait . Ordered the bon bon and matcha americano .. also selection of pastries and gluten free donuts .. I had the ham and cheese croissant. Atmosphere has some good music playing and people just hanging in the seating area chatting.

Love the vanilla beans Latte! The vanilla bean latte was aromatic with a rich vanilla flavor, and the coffee itself was well-balanced, not bland at all. - but hard to find parking spot and seat. Better jusy grab and go

I came to Maru after hearing a lot of buzz about how good the matcha is. I know it's a very popular spot in LA and I'm not local so I wanted to give it a try. I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk. I also got the premium ceremonial grade matcha they had on the menu which was an extra charge. I knew the drink price would be steep but I wanted to try the best quality matcha they had. The latte itself I was surprised by. Upon tasting the drink I thought it was not sweetened. I asked one of the employees if I could have sweetener added, to which they said the latte was sweetened with a little bit of agave. I am not someone who likes my drinks overly sweet but this matcha latte fully tasted unsweetened. The matcha itself was good quality however the flavor notes were leaning grassy/astringent. It's just not a flavor profile I gravitate towards. Lastly, I will say the atmosphere/vibe felt a bit unwelcoming. I don't think that was anyone's intention. I just think that is kind of the culture in LA. If I did go back I would try the coffee as the matcha was a miss for me.

    Espresso tonic
    Ale M.

Maru's espresso tonic is one of my favorites at the moment. It's on the lower end of sweetness, which I prefer and is just simple and very "straightforward and to the point." Espresso quality is also good. And they also carry a handful of vegan pastries - my go-to is their pumpkin spice donut, which is lightly dusted with powdered sugar, and very moist. Parking: street parking is always an easy find around here :)

    Iced mocha and iced matcha
    Nett S.

Haru Coffee has a cute, minimalist interior and a nice atmosphere in the Arts District. We ordered an iced matcha with oat milk and an iced mocha with almond milk, but unfortunately both drinks were quite bitter and just weren't to our taste. Parking was also a bit of a challenge, although that's pretty typical for this part of LA. Based on all the hype, we expected more, but the coffee just didn't live up to it.

Ham & Cheese Croissant was delish!

Seating is limited, though they do offer a few outdoor tables and a bench inside while you wait for your drinks. The service was great. The employees were friendly, welcoming, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. As for the coffee, it unfortunately wasn't my favorite. I tried the Cloud Latte and found it a bit too thick, lacking the smoothness and flavor I was hoping for. I also tried the Cinnamon Cloud, which was smoother but still tasted fairly bitter to me. Coffee preferences are subjective, of course, but the flavor profile just didn't quite hit the mark for me. That said, I enjoyed everything else about the experience and would be willing to come back and try a few different drinks from the menu. The service and ambiance were definitely highlights of the visit.

A few different YouTubers raved about ROK Coffee & Tea, so I decided to try them out... and it definitely lived up to the recommendations! The MATCHA DUO was EXCEPTIONAL and delicious! It had the perfect amount of sweetness, the perfect creaminess, and the matcha wasn't bitter at all. You can tell they use really good, high-quality matcha because not only could I taste the quality, I could feel it in my energy level too. My sister got the MANGO MATCHA DUO with oat milk and absolutely loved it. My sister's coworker tried the SPARKLING YUZU MATCHA and said it was delicious! She loved that the yuzu flavor wasn't overpowering and said the matcha tasted very high quality. We also got the STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE MATCHA DUO because it was recommended as one of their top picks. We gave it to another one of her coworkers, and she finished it so quick! She said it tasted like a dessert and raved about how delicious and amazing it was! There's seating area in front of the café and as well as inside. The inside is really cute and had a nice atmosphere. The best time to go is early in the morning when open. Customer service was exceptional! Everyone was very kind while at the same time quick and attentive to the line. If there tends to be a line, it moves pretty quickly, and our drinks were ready fast after we ordered. If you get lucky, you can find street parking, but be careful parking on Olympic Blvd. during certain times. Not to worry though because they do have a parking structure, which makes things much easier. Overall, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ROK Coffee & Tea! Everything we tried gets a 10/10 from us! The quality of the matcha, the flavors, the customer service, and the overall experience were all excellent. We will most definitely be back!!!

No bitterness, no chalky aftertaste that cheaper ceremonial-grade pretenders leave behind. Just clean, grassy depth with a texture that's silky rather than gritty. This is someone who actually sources well and knows how to whisk Didn't stop there. The seasonal peach jasmine tea was the surprise standout ..floral jasmine up front, real peach sweetness (not syrup-bomb fake fruit) on the back end. Balanced in a way that seasonal drinks rarely pull off; most places either overdo the fruit or underdo the tea. This one's dialed in. Iced Spanish latte rounded things out and didn't miss either; espresso with enough backbone to cut through the condensed milk instead of getting buried by it. A lot of places let the sweetness take over; ROK kept the coffee actually tasting like coffee. 4 drinks, zero misses. That's not luck; that's a program that's actually dialed in behind the counter. This isn't a place riding on aesthetics and a good logo the drinks back it up. The matcha is legit, good quality stuff Come open up in OC you batches

So we decided to come here for coffee or tea and ended up having a really nice time. I used to come here quite often about four years ago. Back then, I really liked their Einspänner and ordered it several times. But the last time I came, I thought it was way too sweet, so I hadn't been back since. It had actually been a REALLY long time since I last visited. And when I used to come here four years ago, I always came in the morning or around lunchtime. Last night was my first time ever coming here at night. My friend told us that they are open until midnight, so that's why we decided to come here after dinner. I had heard that parking here can be a nightmare because there aren't enough parking spaces and people have a hard time finding a spot. But once again, my parking luck was AMAZING! A car pulled out right in front of me just as I arrived, so I was able to park very easily. Another friend arrived later than I did, and she said she couldn't find a parking spot at all. She drove around for quite a while looking for one before finally finding street parking. Last night, we also had some tiramisu, and since I'm pretty sensitive to caffeine, I decided to have a caffeine-free ade instead of coffee or tea. It was a little sweet for my taste, but it was ok. We sat outside on the outdoor patio and talked and talked and talked. We had such a fun time together! However, it was actually pretty cold outside last night. I remember thinking that it felt surprisingly chilly. But what was even crazier was how FREEZING cold it was inside the café! They had the air conditioning turned up so high that both my friends and I felt like we were going to freeze to death. The restroom is inside, and I also went inside to get some water, so I mentioned to one of the male employees that it was freezing inside. He told me that they didn't feel cold at all because they were working, and that THEY were actually feeling really hot. I went back to our table and told my friends what he had said, and they were like, "WHAT?! We're freezing to death over here!" The parking lot here is actually pretty large, so I was wondering why it was so difficult to find a parking spot. Apparently, at night, the left side is the café, while on the right side there is a bar where people can drink and also play games. There was a huge line of people waiting outside the bar last night, so I'm guessing that's probably why the parking lot gets so crowded and it's hard to find a spot. It was also pretty chilly outside last night because of the low temperature, so one thing I wished they had on the outdoor patio was heaters. That would have made sitting outside much more comfortable on a cold night.

I stumbled across their Yelp page when I was visiting from out of town and checked the Instagram for their hours on a Saturday afternoon and was happy to see they were open! The pop-up is easy to find, it's outside facing into the parking lot, and they had a cute A-frame sign out by the street side. There was no line, and I ordered and sat down at one of the tables out front. The service was so warm, and I believe the shop is owned and operated by one man on his own! He was an absolute delight to meet, and he brought my matcha latte to me at the table when it was prepared. He suggested I get the cream top on it, and boy was that the perfect recommendation. I would say I'm a little bit of a matcha fiend... I think I got a matcha latte at 3 different places this day... and this one far surpassed the others. I think it was one of the best matcha lattes I have ever drank to-date. It was perfectly green, the matcha quality was phenomenal, both taste and look-wise. The texture was just right, perfectly creamy with barely any grittiness. The cream top only added to the drink, and didn't take away from the matcha flavor at all, which I feel like has happened at other places for me. I'm dreaming of this matcha latte days later, and need to go back to Kokoro No Coffee as soon as I am in town again. This was a spectacular find, and I hope this spot gets all the love it deserves! It's a very cute and cozy coffee shop and there was no line when we arrived. The menu had a huge selection of different coffee and tea drinks and also a seasonal menu. The staff were very kind and patient and swiftly prepared the Vienna Latte and Hojicha Latte we ordered. The Vienna Latte is so visually stunning, the layers of white milk, brown espresso, thick white cream, brown cocoa powder and Biscoff layered on top of each other against the dark green logo was so aesthetic. Having a sip before mixing the Vienna latter was incredible, the sweet cream followed with the nutty strong espresso flavour then getting a refreshing splash of milk made a great combo with the Biscoff. I actually liked the drink less after its all mixed because it was too creamy for my taste. (I normally like my coffee black) My hojicha latte was great, but it was also too milky for me. So I went up and asked if it would taste good dirty, with an espresso shot in it, and the barista said yes. I ordered an espresso shot and instead of charging me full price, they only charged me the add on espresso shot for the drink! ($1.50 instead of $4) It was very kind of them since it was absolutely my mistake for not ordering the right drink in the first place. The shot added much depth and flavour to the hojicha latte I was craving. Thanks for the wonderful service. I'm definitely coming back to try their other specialty drinks.
