Listen I'm still thinking of that double matcha days later so if that tells you anything at all; swing by 5sure. This spot is tucked into the corner of the plaza so we literally had a moment of wait where it is LOL so just keep walking to the corner and you will see the sign board. This was matcha 3 on my LA matcha quest and honestly the most memorable imo. We came by on a weekday around ~11 and there was a short line that moved rather quickly. For the drink I got the double matcha; my friends tried the coffee. Ugh that double matcha spoiled me for life. Strong matcha flavor, cold foam was great without being too sweet or heavy; such a well balanced drink! Price point is definitely not bad for the quality and the cafe itself is petite, but bright and inviting. I gave Stagger Coffee a visit for an Iced Latte. Stagger definitely has the aesthetics and matcha vibes down; they're packed on Sunday afternoon! Queueing up is fairly easy after entering, and the line goes straight to ordering and then pick-up. While waiting for the order, you can also watch them prepare your drink in line order, though many just skip to the end. I really enjoyed the light colors, interior decor, and organization of Stagger Coffee. The interior screams that Stagger really thought about both function and form; sitting may be a bit cramped at times, but it's K-town and foot traffic and visitor count is high. There's also some seating outdoors on the stone benches which can be nice until someone's smoking in the corridor. The iced latte? The first sips were good and bold, but this drink definitely felt more icy and watered down within 15 minutes. I'm not sure why but sip after sip, I felt less interested in drinking it. Perhaps I'll give this another try in the future, but for now this might be a one-time visit. read more

What I Ordered: Cream Top Coffee ($6.75) Double Matcha ($7.75) Food: Double Matcha was absolutely amazing! One of the best matcha drinks I have ever had. It is definitely on the sweeter end, so make sure you ask to change the sweetness level if that's not what you prefer. The Matcha Cream top was creamy, foamy, and sweet. Make sure you drink from the sippy lid so that you can get the cream top and the matcha latte at the same time through each sip. The barista also recommended that I use the sippy lid and not the straw. Cream Top Coffee was an americano with a vanilla cream top. To be honest, I didn't really enjoy this drink too much. I think that the cream top coffees should be made with lattes and not americanos as they tend to not mix well together. It tasted like a watered down vanilla latte for me. This was my second time visiting Stagger, and they're definitely a great spot for matcha lovers! Last time I tried their Double Matcha, and this time I went with the Matcha Coconut. It was refreshing, smooth, and not overly sweet, which I really enjoyed. Price-wise, it's pretty comparable to other popular matcha spots. The interior was clean, tidy, and had a nice modern feel, and the staff were friendly as well. One thing to keep in mind is that there isn't a lot of seating, so it may be better for grabbing a drink to go when it gets busy. First time ever trying a double matcha latte in LA and Stagger really set the tone and hype on this! They truly were the OG in creating the double matcha cream top. My friend and I got both the Creamy Double Matcha and the donut latte and they were both so so delicious! The double matcha was creamy and refreshing and quite the trend setter, while the donut latte was good quality coffee. Definitely would recommend coming here and it does get packed so expect a line out the door always. Parking available but can get packed real quick. Stagger has been on my to try list for the longest time, so I'm glad I finally got around to trying it! As with anything in Ktown, parking is a struggle. There's a small lot with valet, but spaces are limited. We drove around for a bit and eventually found street parking about a block away. We went on Labor Day, so it was understandably busy. Despite the heat, there was still a pretty long line. They do provide umbrellas for those waiting, but there definitely weren't enough for the number of people in line. You have to wait until someone goes inside and returns one. That said, the line moved surprisingly quickly, and our drinks came out within just a few minutes of ordering. Service was also friendly! I got the Double Matcha and it was super creamy and had an okay matcha flavor, but unfortunately left a mild weird, grainy aftertaste. I was pretty disappointed, especially after waiting in line. Honestly, I'm not sure I'd wait in line for this one again. My partner got the Double Hochija. The flavor was definitely there, but it also had that same strange grainy aftertaste, except it was way worse than the Double Matcha. It was supperrr sweet and became a bit overwhelming after a few sips. If you have a serious sweet tooth, you might love it, but I'd recommend adjusting the sweetness. Wish I read some of the reviews prior to ordering... Overall, I don't think Stagger has the best matcha or hochija but definitely is a cute spot for small groups of 2-4 to grab a drink and hang out. Stagger was recommended by a friend who lives in LA. Expect long lines, pretty much around the clock. We waited about 20 minutes outside, then another 10 inside. Once our orders were placed, thankfully, the wait for the drinks themselves was much shorter. The drinks were good, but not quite 5-star caliber. The matcha, while advertised as ceremonial-grade and carefully crafted, still hinted on the bitter side. Perhaps it was just the particular batch that day? Surprisingly, our best drink order of the day was the strawberry milk they made for our daughter. I don't even think it's on the menu. They appeared to use the same house-made strawberry from their Strawberry Matcha and simply made her a milk with it. Whatever they did, that thing was absolutely delicious. I'm not a big fan of matcha, but I had been curious about Stagger Coffee, which is right next to Gupojip, a restaurant I go to all the time. I always see a really long line of people waiting outside, so I had been thinking that I should give it a try sometime. Well, I finally went this morning. I heard that Stagger is one of the coffee shops in K-town LA that is really well known for matcha, along with Rok. ( I've been to Rok Cafe twice already, so today I decided to try the matcha at Stagger instead.) I'm the kind of person who can't stand being curious about something without finding out for myself, I always have to try a restaurant if I hear that it's famous, and if there's a book or a movie that I'm curious about, I have to read it or watch it! I went around 11 am this morning, and there was still a pretty long line. Fortunately, the line moved fairly quickly, so I didn't have to wait too long and was able to place my order pretty quickly. Since their matcha is supposed to be famous, I ordered a matcha latte. I was a little disappointed to find out that they don't have a decaf version and don't offer non-fat milk either. So I ordered a regular matcha latte with almond milk and no ice. (At first, I asked for very light ice, but I changed my mind right away and asked for no ice.) I really don't like it when coffee or matcha has a ton of ice because it melts and mixes with the drink, making it taste watered down. So whenever possible, I usually order my drinks with no ice or just a tiny bit of ice. The matcha here had a slightly bitter taste, but you could really taste the natural, distinctive flavor of matcha. I actually liked that it wasn't overly sweet and had that slightly bitter, authentic matcha flavor. The staff here were also very friendly, which I really liked. After I picked up my iced (cold, but not ice) matcha latte, I went back to the cashier and asked if there was an outlet where I could charge my cellphone. The cashier looked a little confused and asked, "An outlet?" Then another woman who was standing next to the cashier told me that there was an outlet at one of the tables in the corner where I could charge my phone. I thanked her and sat there charging my phone while enjoying my iced matcha latte. There is only one restroom here, and it's a gender-neutral restroom. If you really love matcha, I would definitely recommend this place because the distinctive flavor of the matcha really comes through in their latte. But for me, I'm satisfied with trying it once today. There are still so many other coffee shops I want to try in the future! Note 1) : I think they should let customers know in advance that they don't offer non-fat milk and that ordering almond milk costs an additional $0.75. Note 2) : Also, when I ordered my matcha latte with no ice, they only filled the cup about halfway, which I really didn't like either. Note 3) : Also, since this place only offers valet parking, I don't think it's really worth coming all the way here and paying for valet just to have a matcha latte or a cup of coffee. There aren't many places to find street parking in this area either, so you pretty much have to use the valet parking or find street parking. Very pleasantly surprised by the Coconut Matcha. I was originally not going to get this drink as I wasn't sure how matcha would taste with coconut water but I'm so glad I did. It turns out it tastes amazing. It is definitely on the sweeter side, which is probably why I enjoyed it so much. I tried my date's Strawberry Matcha, which was also good but it's creamier due to the milk and mine just felt more refreshing to drink. When they first opened in Oct 2024, I also had a Chai Latte from here. Not particularly memorable and would recommend just sticking to their matcha drinks. I love stagger, especially the jasmine matcha. I visited LA and I never knew there were so many matcha spots. The jasmine matcha was definitely a twist from the matcha lattes that I've been trying. We came around lunch on a weekday. The space is great. High ceiling so it feels bigger than it is -- and it actually is a pretty big coffee shop. All the tables and benches were occupied. Lots of people working or studying or hanging out. The CORTADO was strong, creamy and not tart. Love it. The ICED LATTE is delicious. Came back a second time, and still great! I got half sweetness and it perfectly balanced the sweet cream top. The hojicha is by far my favorite, I haven't found a place that does it this well. Parking can be a bitch as the shop is located in a small strip mall. They do offer valet, but it's kind of a nightmare. Stick to street parking and walk it over. There was a small line up extending outside the shop, but the line moved at a decent pace as the baristas cranked out matcha lattes and other drinks. The spot was pretty packed with people studying and enjoying their drinks. I have no idea how people can study in such a busy and noisy environment, but props to them for trying. Ended up getting the double matcha for myself and my friend got the strawberry matcha. We both added oat milk, which was an additional $0.75 each. The drinks came out fairly quickly and definitely lived up to the hype. The double matcha was creamy, silky, and had a good balance of bitterness and mild sweetness. The matcha cream made it stand out in a great way. Besides indoor seating, they also have a small wraparound sitting area outside the shop where you can enjoy your drinks. They also have some merch for sale including hats, totes, tshirts, and matcha peripherals. I didn't get any baked goods, but saw that they had various pastries including matcha cookies. I continue to insist that I am a matcha social drinker, only seeking it out when I'm with my matcha connoisseur friends. However, I am almost embarrassed to admit that I thoroughly enjoyed Stagger. There was no line, but it makes sense with the fact that we came at 4 pm. After ordering, we were quickly served. Everything from napkins to drink caddies to straws to drink sleeves were self serve, which I appreciated. Not to mention the free stickers! The drinks were on the sweeter side, which is what I prefer, but not too sweet that it drowns out the matcha flavor. The double matcha was topped with a thick layer of sweet cream which balanced nicely with the slight matcha bitterness. The jasmine matcha, which was the seasonal drink, was very jasmine forward and garnished with flowers (I ended up spitting them out; had the texture of disintegrating paper straws). Otherwise, it was one of the better matchas I've had, especially because it didn't make me feel jittery. The vibe was quiet, clean, and minimalistic. The chairs looked straight out of a modern art museum. It's like musical chairs, but the loser still gets a chair, just one without back support. I've been coming to Stagger for years, and they've stayed remarkably consistent. - Their double matcha is what they're known for; it comes in a smaller cup than any of their other drinks, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in strength. The matcha quality is great; it holds its own in matcha lattes and einspanners, and has a robust earthiness without being astringently grassy. They clearly use a lot of matcha in this drink, and even though it's batch-made, they go through it so quickly that it might as well be hand-whisked. I prefer to get it with light sweetness, but even the full sweet version is delicious and not overpoweringly sweet. - Their hojicha is just as competitive as their matcha; it has a misugaru nuttiness that I am obsessed with, and their latte has a creaminess that seems impossible to achieve without cream or whole milk. In terms of ambiance, it can get quite loud, but it's a popular spot. There's a lot of indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of room to stand around and wait for your drink, bathrooms, and free iced water. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the line moves quite fast. The only thing that leaves much to be desired is the parking situation; the lot is tiny and impossible to park in anyway, but in the afternoon and evening is valet only. That's not really Stagger's fault, and I think walking a couple blocks is worth it for this Ktown matcha staple. read more
