My partner and I have been going to Stagger for about 5 months now. We fell in love with this place. The parking situation is frustrating but was worth it, not so much anymore. We have gone a few times over the course of 3 weeks. At first we thought Stagger was having an off day with their matcha. The taste wasn't as strong and the double matcha isn't as creamy anymore. We've gone several times since then. The flavor has been off and it has disappointed us every time. I love stagger, especially the jasmine matcha. I visited LA and I never knew there were so many matcha spots. The jasmine matcha was definitely a twist from the matcha lattes that I've been trying. The jasmine tea was very floral and it has a subtly strong tea taste that is balanced well by the matcha and milk. Went on a Saturday and the line wasn't too bad--it moved pretty quickly! They even provided umbrellas while we waited since it was so hot. The parking situation was a bit difficult so our friend had to drop us off and pick us up after we got our drinks since there was no parking. They have plenty of indoor seating, but it was all taken when we visited, and it can get pretty loud inside, so it may not be the best spot for studying or working if you prefer somewhere quieter. We got the Double Matcha and their seasonal Lychee Matcha, and both were delicious. I'd never had lychee matcha before, so it was a fun and interesting combination. I've been coming to Stagger for years, and they've stayed remarkably consistent. - Their double matcha is what they're known for; it comes in a smaller cup than any of their other drinks, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in strength. The matcha quality is great; it holds its own in matcha lattes and einspanners, and has a robust earthiness without being astringently grassy. They clearly use a lot of matcha in this drink, and even though it's batch-made, they go through it so quickly that it might as well be hand-whisked. I prefer to get it with light sweetness, but even the full sweet version is delicious and not overpoweringly sweet. - Their hojicha is just as competitive as their matcha; it has a misugaru nuttiness that I am obsessed with, and their latte has a creaminess that seems impossible to achieve without cream or whole milk. In terms of ambiance, it can get quite loud, but it's a popular spot. There's a lot of indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of room to stand around and wait for your drink, bathrooms, and free iced water. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the line moves quite fast. The only thing that leaves much to be desired is the parking situation; the lot is tiny and impossible to park in anyway, but in the afternoon and evening is valet only. Very pleasantly surprised by the Coconut Matcha. I was originally not going to get this drink as I wasn't sure how matcha would taste with coconut water but I'm so glad I did. It turns out it tastes amazing. It is definitely on the sweeter side, which is probably why I enjoyed it so much. I tried my date's Strawberry Matcha, which was also good but it's creamier due to the milk and mine just felt more refreshing to drink. When they first opened in Oct 2024, I also had a Chai Latte from here. Not particularly memorable and would recommend just sticking to their matcha drinks. There is valet but the lot is so cramped that I'd rather try my luck at street parking. Inside is very aesthetically-pleasing with multiple tables and a fair amount of seating. After having kbbq nearby, I needed a palate cleanser to degrease my system. Having seen some reels and stuff on social media, I decided to give this spot a try with a buddy of mine. Parking can be a bitch as the shop is located in a small strip mall. They do offer valet, but it's kind of a nightmare. Stick to street parking and walk it over. There was a small line up extending outside the shop, but the line moved at a decent pace as the baristas cranked out matcha lattes and other drinks. The spot was pretty packed with people studying and enjoying their drinks. I have no idea how people can study in such a busy and noisy environment, but props to them for trying. Ended up getting the double matcha for myself and my friend got the strawberry matcha. We both added oat milk, which was an additional $0.75 each. The drinks came out fairly quickly and definitely lived up to the hype. The double matcha was creamy, silky, and had a good balance of bitterness and mild sweetness. The matcha cream made it stand out in a great way. Besides indoor seating, they also have a small wraparound sitting area outside the shop where you can enjoy your drinks. They also have some merch for sale including hats, totes, tshirts, and matcha peripherals. I didn't get any baked goods, but saw that they had various pastries including matcha cookies. Most of the time I prefer matcha over hojicha, but this time I preferred hojicha; nonetheless, both drinks were absolutely fabulous. Another awesome coffee shop in Koreatown. And, you guessed it, because we're in K-Town, the parking situation is not ideal - doable, but not ideal. We managed to find a meter parking spot on the street where the strip mall was located though. There was no line to get in, no line to order and the wait for our drinks was minimal. We came around lunch on a weekday. The space is great. High ceiling so it feels bigger than it is -- and it actually is a pretty big coffee shop. All the tables and benches were occupied. Lots of people working or studying or hanging out. The CORTADO was strong, creamy and not tart. Love it. The ICED LATTE is delicious. The MATCHA COOKIE with white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts was delicious and warmed prior to serving. They roast and sell their own beans. Staff are all nice. Space is beautiful. read more

We were seeking a caffeine boost in K-Town after indulging in too much KBBQ. We chose this spot because it was conveniently located near our restaurant. I'd heard of the name before and knew it was a trendy place. Walking in, I felt a bit out of place as a typical suburban dad amongst the fashionable crowd. The staff were super friendly and helpful, even though it was my first time there. They recommended the Double Matcha Latte ($7.75) and Vanilla Latte ($6.25), and both were excellent. There's a Stagger wavy mirror on the left upon entering, which I saw many people using for selfies. It's probably a trendy thing to do, but I'm okay with that. Sometimes I wonder how K-Town can have so many top tier coffee shops. This is one of many (ROK, Memory Look, Yeems) to name a few. All have great matcha which I feel taste identical. Came back a second time, and still great! I got half sweetness and it perfectly balanced the sweet cream top. The hojicha is by far my favorite, I haven't found a place that does it this well. I continue to insist that I am a matcha social drinker, only seeking it out when I'm with my matcha connoisseur friends. However, I am almost embarrassed to admit that I thoroughly enjoyed Stagger. There was no line, but it makes sense with the fact that we came at 4 pm. After ordering, we were quickly served. Everything from napkins to drink caddies to straws to drink sleeves were self serve, which I appreciated. Not to mention the free stickers! The drinks were on the sweeter side, which is what I prefer, but not too sweet that it drowns out the matcha flavor. The double matcha was topped with a thick layer of sweet cream which balanced nicely with the slight matcha bitterness. The jasmine matcha, which was the seasonal drink, was very jasmine forward and garnished with flowers (I ended up spitting them out; had the texture of disintegrating paper straws). Otherwise, it was one of the better matchas I've had, especially because it didn't make me feel jittery. The vibe was quiet, clean, and minimalistic. The chairs looked straight out of a modern art museum. It's like musical chairs, but the loser still gets a chair, just one without back support. My friend said this was her favorite matcha spot in town so you know I had to stop by when I was in ktown. Similar to much of ktown there isn't that much parking but they have valet if you wanted to post up a bit and enjoy. Be warned that even on a weekday this place is packed. However, they have a good system and even with the lines I got my drink within 5 mins. Shocking as i've seen this taken 10 mins + at other places. I was pleasantly surprised by the space as it had a good amount of seating and while the outdoor space next door isn't officially theirs, people seem to use it as well so it opens up the space. I got their strawberry match since it is the season and it did not disappoint. The strawberry jam was tasty and not too sweet. Also got the double matcha to wake me up even more and I enjoyed it. I've had both the double matcha and the coconut matcha, and both were fantastic. I'm pretty picky when it comes to matcha, and this place consistently delivers. You get that real matcha flavor, and it's just perfect. Easily some of the best matcha I've had. There's a good amount of seating, but it fills up quickly, so it can be tough if you're trying to get work done. Parking is the biggest challenge. My cousin and I were craving a post-lunch matcha on Monday, so she suggested we check out Stagger Coffee. Despite the name, Stagger is better known for their matcha and hojicha drinks. Since the lot is valet only, we found street parking nearby and walked over. Inside, the space is packed with tables and chairs, making it a bit tight. It was pretty busy when we arrived, and we waited in a short line before placing our order. DOUBLE HOJICHA My cousin really likes the bold, roasty hojicha here and recommended this one. It's a cold hojicha latte sweetened with agave and topped with hojicha cream. I asked for it half sweet, but it was still too much. My cousin thought it tasted just as sweet if not sweeter than usual. While the hojicha flavor was incredible, the sweetness was overwhelming, so I ended up switching drinks with her. STRAWBERRY MATCHA This is one of their most popular drinks, so my cousin wanted to give it a try. However, the matcha flavor came out weak and muted. The strawberry compote (which was juicy and good) didn't mix well with the drink. That said, I actually preferred this one since it wasn't as sweet (even without reducing the sugar level), though it was still disappointing because the matcha lacked the strong and earthy flavor we were hoping for. The experience was a bit of a letdown since it seemed inconsistent, and my cousin mentioned that her previous experiences were better. Overall, the hojicha flavor was still one of the best I've had at a cafe, so if you have a higher sweet tolerance, Stagger does it well. read more
