Ordered via Doordash so can't speak for service or ambiance. I tried the Malaya signature latte which comes with a cream top and sprinkled cinnamon. Milk substitution is free with options including oat, almond, and goat milk. You can also adjust sugar and ice levels which was nice. The flavor of the coffee was rich and creamy with the cream mixed in. For $8, it was not bad.
Went to try this place in Silverlake since it was closer than the one in Arcadia. It was pretty hard to find parking in the plaza, so we had to park on a street nearby! It was neat and clean inside and the decor was pretty. I liked that they had displays hung up showcasing the old Filipino script Babayin! I thought that was cool. The staff were chill, but didn't feel super welcoming. It was pretty packed inside with a lot of people hanging out or studying, but it wasn't too loud inside. They also have options for alternative milks and serve some food items like empanadas! Our drinks came out pretty fast and were pretty good. It is a bit on the pricier side for the size I will say, but they were delicious and glad I got to give it a try!
I got the pandan coffee which was so lovely and creamy and not too sweet! Asked for light ice as well, and the ratio was great. Truly delicious. I am sad that $8-9 coffees are now the norm around LA, but at least this one tasted good. FYI the picture is the coffee post stir, it initially arrived green and brown!
Cute Filipino inspired coffee shop in a shopping center that has parking! The Ube flavored coffee is delicious, not too sweet. Their signature latte is sweeter but also great flavor. Friendly staff and lots of space to hang out or do work!

Heads up that there is limited indoor seating so if it's busy, you may have trouble finding a spot. There's also a small parking lot in front of the shop.
Parking lot is quite small with tight parking and people don't really leave. Needed to circle around a few times on a Monday around 11am until someone left. Street parking is metered. Great spot to for a work from cafe day. Really wanted to try their Caramel Banana Latte but they ran out today.. Malaya Signature Latte -coffee was smooth, drink was quite creamy. Nothing to complain about. Pandan Latte -not the best I've tried. Good drink but flavor was lacking, more condensed milk flavor that I would like over pandan.
Perfect treat this afternoon... had a classic ensaymada (warmed and so pillowy soft and deliciously buttery, sweet with just a taste of cheese) and an iced vanilla latte with velvety cold foam. Many thanks to the kind barista/cashier who gifted me the drink for half off for Nurses Week.
Kinda bummed that the service was poor during our last visit. The wait time for our drinks did not make sense. Two customers that ordered after us received their drinks first. One of the customers after me also ordered their new signature Matchaho drink which was suppose to be made with oat milk but was not - it still went out. I have seen this cafe busier and this day was not one of them. Maybe it was an off day? Maybe they were training?

I had somewhere to be in Silverlake later in the day so I decided to come here to do work while I wait for my next event. I came on a Friday around 2pm and was able to find parking in the lot, though the lot and the cafe started filling up around 4ish. I got an ube matcha with almond milk, and it was great! You could tell the matcha is high quality! I also got one of their mango brioche buns which was so delicious! Overall, it's a great study space with great drinks! I probably would avoid it on weekends but weekday mid days are awesome! The girl that helped me out up front was really nice too. Will be back!
This is an adorable Phillipino coffee cafe! The menu is extensive and creative and I love the plush seating and atmosphere. It reads great energy. I ordered the banana caramel with oatmilk. My drink is creamy, layered and delicious. I do not feel a surge of energy yet and I am more than halfway finished but, I will be back to try their other drinks amd enjoy my morning..It's such a blessing to know so many amazing coffee spots in LA. I love caffeine!!!!!!!
Came here early afternoon on a weekday. The place had a pretty chill vibe to it - minimalist decor which featured the traditional Filipino writing system (Baybayin). Service was quick and staff were friendly. Coffee we ordered tasted good. The ensaymadas were melt in your mouth superb. Note: Limited parking space.
finally got to try this filipino cafe! i ordered the makaya signature and loved it! they have other flavors also and id love to try pandan next. parking was easy when i went, they have a shared parking lot. they have wifi and lots of plugs and their place was sunny and bright! friendly staff

Came back to re-try this place after a prior not-so-good experience and I'm so glad I did because my experience here was SO much better compared to the last time! Food/Drink: Chef's kiss! I wanted a refreshing matcha since it was such a hot day and I was going to a festival, and it HIT! It also didn't make my stomach hurt going into the festival which was another thing. I got the strawberry lemonade matcha and I love the balance or sweet and tart the strawberry lemonade gave. The matcha paired perfectly! Service: Amazing! Two nice ladies were helping me and my party and I love how incredible their service was. I had a problem with my last visit with the service, but you can tell these ladies were incredible :) Ambiance: Still so clean and aesthetic since I've last visited. Overall, I am so happy that my experience here was very pleasant!! Also so happy I gave this shop another chance. Will def be back! ;) read more

Malaya is a wonderful little coffee shop in the heart of Silver Lake. They serve Filipino inspired coffee and matcha drinks, as well as specialty ensaymadas (Filipino sweet bread) and ice cream. The space is bright and airy and is a great place to sit with a few friends or even work quietly. The staff at Malaya are also very warm and welcoming. I highly recommend the Malaya's Signature Latte (sweet side) and any of their matchas (pandan is popular). The cheese and the coconut pandan ensaymadas are really good and so soft. Make sure to get it warmed up. read more
I spent a fair share of time in coffee shops and would say this spot is a solid 10/10 if you need to be productive and recharged. Very calming environment with low volume vibes playing on speaker. Easy parking and fire lattes. what more can you ask for? read more

Amazing drinks!! We tried these all iced and with oat milk: Ube Cream Latte, Pandan Latte and the Banana Matcha. Each drink had amazing flavor, definitely stir the pandan and ube lattes so you get the full effect. The matcha was so high quality with a vibrant color and the banana flavor actually tasted like banana chips! I hate this parking lot but I'd definitely come back if I was in the area. Drinks are on the sweeter side but I feel like that's expected to really taste the Filipino flavors. There's plenty of seating inside to hang out or get some work done and staff is friendly. They also have some ensaymadas (I think) that you can purchase. read more

I've come here twice now, and I've had such a great experience both times! The first time, I ordered the pandan matcha. Pandan is one of my favorite flavors, so I absolutely loved it. It was delicious and had the perfect balance of flavors. The second time, I tried their limited-edition lychee coco misto, and it was SO good. It was refreshing, creamy, and easily became one of my favorite drinks I've had here. I hope to try their seasonal melon special before it's gone. I really hope they consider adding a drink similar to the lychee coco misto to their permanent signature menu because I would absolutely order it again. Overall, everything I've tried has been amazing, and I'm already looking forward to coming back! read more
Malaya Cafe is located in a plaza with a parking lot. First come first serve. We arrived just past noon and were able to find parking hassle free. I could see that later in the afternoon parking may not be as available. Let's get to it. How'd I end up here? Spending a work remote day with my sister, who lives in Silverlake, she said you ever been to Malaya? Matcha Pandan, Ube Latte sound good to you? I said, they got seating and wi-fi? She said "yes" I said "run it" Entering in you'll approach almost immediately the cashier and to your right will be a decent amount of seating ranging from small cafe table to barstool seating arrangements. We opted for bar style seating next to the drink station where we could both do work and catch a view of the drinks in action. What we drink? - Malaya Signature Latte 5/5 - Pandan Matcha Latte 5/5 Our barista was awesome and friendly about me snapping a few flicks of her process in action. Not sure if id recommend this cafe for folks who are looking to get some work done while lounging as it did get a bit loud and no quiet corners in the size of the cafe. I definitely recommend for a great latte, meet up with friends or just solo. Malaya is worth the visit and sip down to the last drop read more
A gem! I really love finding and trying out spots by my fellow Filipinos. And this place is amazing. I love their lattes, especially their matcha! They also offer ensaimadas and had their ube roll and it was soo good! They're in a plaza, parking might be difficult if it's packed. There are street parking around the area as well. Staff are always nice and welcoming! Indoor- it's simple, cute and aesthetically pleasing. I love their framed words in baybayin and it's so rare to see them nowadays. A must try! read more

Another great coffee shop in LA! Small parking lot, but probably better luck parking on the street. We got the Ube matcha latte and turon latte, both with oat milk. Both were balanced and nicely flavored; FYI for the picky matcha drinkers- the matcha had some astringency, but was smooth and was not too bitter. They also sell some Filipino baked goods and ice cream, which I'll be sure to try next time. This Filipino-owned coffee shop also had really cool cultural trinkets and decor, like their Baybayin signs. read more

Nice cozy pLace to sip their signature coffee and pandam matcha partnering with Ensaymada Project. Service was quick, the guy was so helpful and attentive. Good thing , went here on a weekday, as soon as they open thus, parking was not overwhelming. Lots of space. Will definitely comeback and would try their other drinks. I like the decors. Tried their Ube Creme Latte, I got it half sweet, and it was still a bit too sweet for my taste, but my friend really enjoyed it. Definitely tasted the ube! The service was really great, and the staff were helpful with honest opinions and recommendations. They have limited seating, but I saw people studying here, so it's a nice spot to get some work done. Parking is in a small lot, and their menu looked promising. I'd definitely come back to try more drinks! read more

There's a decent amount of seating area inside also! Was in the area and I saw this coffee shop through yelp. We like trying Filipino inspired places especially coffee. Thank have a parking lots it is pretty full and might be hard if busy. Inside is nice lots of seating. They helped us pretty quickly. Coffee had nice presentation. The Malaya was ok but the caramel banana was the one. I switched with the wifey because she liked it better lol. read more
This coffee shop was busy with people working or enjoying their drinks. I ordered a matcha ube latte which both flavors came through and didn't overpower the other. The miso caramel ice cream was delicious and smooth- it just comes in small scoops. The halo halo was fantastic with all the different textures and flavors- especially the Ube ice cream, flan, and corn flakes. Service was friendly and quick. Ice cream is from 626 ice cream. Wasn't bad. But the girl that scooped our ice cream should tie her hair because I felt like her hair was going in the ice cream as she was scooping. She was nice though. They have a parking lot too! read more

Decided to check out Malaya since I've seen a handful of friends try this place out recently and I love supporting Filipino-owned businesses. There is a dedicated lot in front of the store, but parking can be tricky depending on how busy it is. I came on a Monday afternoon and there were a handful of spots in the lot. The inside is nice, bright and surrounded with light wood. It feels very warm and inviting with plenty of seating to study or catch up on some work. Very cute and cozy vibes for sure. The staff were super nice and we got our drinks relatively quickly. I got the Banana Caramel Latte. Banana Caramel Latte 8/10 - The first thing that stood out to me was the banana flavoring. It was definitely more "real" tasting than artificial tasting. The caramel was strong as well. The cream it came with was thick, sweet, and creamy. I would say overall the drink is on the sweeter side, but I didn't mind since I do have a sweet tooth so do keep that in mind! I really enjoyed the vibe of this cafe and love that they have Filipino flavors like ube in their drinks. I would come back to try the other drinks on the menu! read more

Went to check out this little gem with a friend after work and was greeted with a smile and hello by the batista. She was super helpful and friendly in her recommendations. There were so many selections of ensaymada pastries to pick from and ended up get a mix dozen. The ensaymada are delicious! As for drinks, I got the iced pandan matcha latte, which was delish! My friend got the Malaya Signature and that was good too! My son got the ube coconut ice cream and that was absolutely The Cafe is clean, simple and had comfortable seats to just relax, do some work, or hang out with friends. Will definitely come again! read more
Malaya is a cute little coffee shop in Echo Park with Filipino inspiration. Unlike some of the other spots in the area, it's quite spacious with plenty of room to work, play, or just vibe. The aesthetic is minimal yet cozy with light woods, natural light, and pops of greenery. I appreciated that they had unique flavors like ube and pandan in addition to more common ingredients like strawberry and banana. I've been obsessed with pandan, so I had to try the pandan matcha latte iced with oat milk. Truthfully, it was very sweet, so whether you enjoy it depends on your personal preferences. For me, the matcha flavor got a little lost, and when I did taste it, I did experience a bit of grittiness. If I were to order it again, I'd definitely do half sweet. That said, service was kind and fast and I'm happy I tried the spot. I'm intrigued enough that I'd come back to try something else. 3.5/5 read more

Heard about this new coffee shop. They also serve matcha and ice cream. They have a nice array of coffee and matcha with some Filipino inspired flavors like Ube and pandan. It was later in the afternoon, so I opted for the Ube Matcha. I'm usually not a fan of flavored matchas, but I thought I would give it a try, and it was very enjoyable. It wasn't too sweet and the matcha and Ube flavors were well defined. Cute seating areas for groups and also single seats to work at. There was a good variety of ensymadas, and if you want a quick snack, they hit the spot. Staff was very friendly and the cafe is dog friendly. Parking could be challenging, but they do have a parking lot for the businesses in the strip, and there is also street parking. I'll be back earlier in the day to try their coffee drinks, especially their signature latte which has my fav, condensed milk. read more
