Kinda bummed that the service was poor during our last visit. The wait time for our drinks did not make sense. Two customers that ordered after us received their drinks first. One of the customers after me also ordered their new signature Matchaho drink which was suppose to be made with oat milk but was not - it still went out. I have seen this cafe busier and this day was not one of them. Maybe it was an off day? Maybe they were training?

This is an adorable Phillipino coffee cafe! The menu is extensive and creative and I love the plush seating and atmosphere. It reads great energy. I ordered the banana caramel with oatmilk. My drink is creamy, layered and delicious. I do not feel a surge of energy yet and I am more than halfway finished but, I will be back to try their other drinks amd enjoy my morning..It's such a blessing to know so many amazing coffee spots in LA. I love caffeine!!!!!!!

Came here early afternoon on a weekday. The place had a pretty chill vibe to it - minimalist decor which featured the traditional Filipino writing system (Baybayin). Service was quick and staff were friendly. Coffee we ordered tasted good. The ensaymadas were melt in your mouth superb. Note: Limited parking space.

This place is so far from me but is now my new favorite coffee shop. Totally worth the 40 minute drive every once in a while! I had somewhere to be in Silverlake later in the day so I decided to come here to do work while I wait for my next event. I came on a Friday around 2pm and was able to find parking in the lot, though the lot and the cafe started filling up around 4ish. I got an ube matcha with almond milk, and it was great! You could tell the matcha is high quality! I also got one of their mango brioche buns which was so delicious! Overall, it's a great study space with great drinks! I probably would avoid it on weekends but weekday mid days are awesome! The girl that helped me out up front was really nice too. Will be back!

Update: Drink: Came back here to get my usual matcha lattes, took off one star because it felt like the matcha wasn't strong enough/watered down. My partner also got a matcha latte and we agreed it felt watered down today. As soon as we got home, I made us both matcha shots to make up for it. We think they made one regular serving of matcha and just split it between the two drinks because after I made the matcha shots at home, it tasted how it usually tastes. Service: Employees felt off when we were ordering and it did not feel hospitable. Usually, we feel more welcomed, but today was not the case. I was thinking it, but my partner mentioned it on the drive home and we were bummed as we come to this establishment very frequently. Took off another star for that. Overall, I hope there is consistency within this cafe as this was one of our favorites. Nothing but the best for this establishment!

Malaya is a cute little coffee shop in Echo Park with Filipino inspiration. Unlike some of the other spots in the area, it's quite spacious with plenty of room to work, play, or just vibe. The aesthetic is minimal yet cozy with light woods, natural light, and pops of greenery. I appreciated that they had unique flavors like ube and pandan in addition to more common ingredients like strawberry and banana. I've been obsessed with pandan, so I had to try the pandan matcha latte iced with oat milk. Truthfully, it was very sweet, so whether you enjoy it depends on your personal preferences. For me, the matcha flavor got a little lost, and when I did taste it, I did experience a bit of grittiness. If I were to order it again, I'd definitely do half sweet. That said, service was kind and fast and I'm happy I tried the spot. I'm intrigued enough that I'd come back to try something else. 3.5/5

Malaya is a wonderful little coffee shop in the heart of Silver Lake. They serve Filipino inspired coffee and matcha drinks, as well as specialty ensaymadas (Filipino sweet bread) and ice cream. The space is bright and airy and is a great place to sit with a few friends or even work quietly. The staff at Malaya are also very warm and welcoming. I highly recommend the Malaya's Signature Latte (sweet side) and any of their matchas (pandan is popular). The cheese and the coconut pandan ensaymadas are really good and so soft. Make sure to get it warmed up.

    Ube Latte - so good!

Amazing drinks!! We tried these all iced and with oat milk: Ube Cream Latte, Pandan Latte and the Banana Matcha. Each drink had amazing flavor, definitely stir the pandan and ube lattes so you get the full effect. The matcha was so high quality with a vibrant color and the banana flavor actually tasted like banana chips! I hate this parking lot but I'd definitely come back if I was in the area. Drinks are on the sweeter side but I feel like that's expected to really taste the Filipino flavors. There's plenty of seating inside to hang out or get some work done and staff is friendly. They also have some ensaymadas (I think) that you can purchase.

Malaya Cafe is located in a plaza with a parking lot. First come first serve. We arrived just past noon and were able to find parking hassle free. I could see that later in the afternoon parking may not be as available. Let's get to it. How'd I end up here? Spending a work remote day with my sister, who lives in Silverlake, she said you ever been to Malaya? Matcha Pandan, Ube Latte sound good to you? I said, they got seating and wi-fi? She said "yes" I said "run it" Entering in you'll approach almost immediately the cashier and to your right will be a decent amount of seating ranging from small cafe table to barstool seating arrangements. We opted for bar style seating next to the drink station where we could both do work and catch a view of the drinks in action. What we drink? - Malaya Signature Latte 5/5 - Pandan Matcha Latte 5/5 Our barista was awesome and friendly about me snapping a few flicks of her process in action. Not sure if id recommend this cafe for folks who are looking to get some work done while lounging as it did get a bit loud and no quiet corners in the size of the cafe. I definitely recommend for a great latte, meet up with friends or just solo. Malaya is worth the visit and sip down to the last drop

A gem! I really love finding and trying out spots by my fellow Filipinos. And this place is amazing. I love their lattes, especially their matcha! They also offer ensaimadas and had their ube roll and it was soo good! They're in a plaza, parking might be difficult if it's packed. There are street parking around the area as well. Staff are always nice and welcoming! Indoor- it's simple, cute and aesthetically pleasing. I love their framed words in baybayin and it's so rare to see them nowadays. A must try!

Malaya is making some great coffee. Come check out this chill coffee shop. Large parking lot, cards are accepted. Staff is nice and helpful.

While in the area I stopped by to get coffee with my son. I love trying coffee shops in the cities I'm visiting. Today after an appointment at a local hospital we came here to have coffee and chill. There is parking right in front of the shop so that was great. Customer service was friendly, one person taking orders and making coffee. It's spacious with tables and chairs and a sofa. He ordered the caramel banana iced latte and I got their signature iced latte ... even though I asked for less sweetener it was still too sweet for my taste. I honestly couldn't taste the coffee much. My son loved his latte because he loves sweet coffee. Overall a great spot to check out while in the area. They also have ensaymadas and ice cream .... I'll be back to give it another try ...

Honey Affogato: 4/5 I usually go for items with caffeine and I wanted to like it more than I actually did. It was cold and refreshing at first but the coffee tasted a little too bitter towards the bottom of the cup. Dear Chocolate: 5/5 No notes other than, it was perfection. My friend mixed the chocolate well with the soft serve, and she liked the consistency and texture. It wasn't too sweet for her either. She also did not add the sea salt Sweetie: 5/5 The honeycomb "chunk" is chewy and had a more natural taste to it, if that is what you're into! Combined with the lightness of the soft serve, the Sweetie is a solid choice for the people who are looking for sweets that are not too sweet. Overall, this is a great spot for a sweet treat. This was honestly a disappointing experience from start to finish. The ice cream was extremely…read morerunny... nothing like the photos they advertise. My husband has been here many times and was genuinely shocked at how much the quality has dropped. Even the taste was off compared to previous visits. Whatever they changed, it's not for the better. We paid over $6 per cup, and it felt like a complete waste. We were told the machines were malfunctioning because the night shift didn't put them on standby. That's not a customer problem, that's a management problem. If your equipment isn't working, close the shop until it is. Selling subpar product just because the doors are open is unacceptable. To make matters worse, it was raining outside and the entrance was not properly set up for safety. Yes, there were "slippery" signs, but the lack of proper coverage or rugs made the place feel careless and poorly managed. They didn't even have music so the whole vibe was dingy and unpolished; nothing like the cute, curated Instagram aesthetic they market. In reality, it felt like no one cared about quality control or the customer experience anymore. Overall, this felt like a business coasting on hype rather than delivering on quality. This was my personal experience, and it was very disappointing.
