Most people were getting gelatos, very few were getting matcha drinks. Good thing they offer samples for their gelatos! It was quite creamy and rich. I went ahead and tried the strongest matcha, and it tastes like you're licking straight matcha powder, but ice cream version. Pretty good, but I would imagine it would taste bitter and astringent the more you have it. I ultimately went with the triple matcha. It was good! The latte also tasted powdery compared to other matcha places I've had. The parfait was pretty good however by the time it came out, the ice cream already melted. Matsu Matcha has been quite viral on social media lately, given that the dessert establishment has multiple levels of matcha intensity similar to Nanaya Matcha in Kyoto and Tokyo. My group of friends loves matcha, so we all decided to come here one evening for dessert. Unfortunately, the establishment only allows for one free sample per person, so I had to make it count. I tried to Extra Rich Matcha (level 4) and my wife tried the Ultra Rich Matcha (level 5), and we each tried a little bit. None of the levels were too bitter for us, but I noticed that the higher levels cost extra. Thus I ended up getting a combination Uji Matcha (level 3) and a hojicha. There was a good 10 minute wait, but the wait was worth it. The place is quite small but we eventually were able to sit down ourselves. The Uji Matcha still had a strong matcha flavor, which I loved. The matcha side was super smooth and actually tasted high quality, not too bitter but still strong and earthy in a good way. You can tell they don't cut corners with the matcha. They're on Snackpass and you're able to order ahead from there. Drink order took a little over 30 minutes for our 3 drinks to come out. We opted to try matcha level 4 to gauge which direction we needed to go for our liking. Level 4 was too sweet and not strong enough for us. Level 4 is an additional $0.50 and Level 5 is an additional $1. Hojicha gelato was too sweet and not enough roasted hojicha flavor either. Came to check out Matsu Matcha on a weekday afternoon so the line was very short and there was easy parking available at a meter right across the street. It's designed to look like a Japanese tea house so that was a coo vibe, they have warm lighting and a cute bonsai centerpiece so this could be a cute place to sit for a bit when there's space ~ We got the Triple Matcha (80% sweetness) + the Banana Pudding Creme Brulee Matcha (30% sweetness) . I would compare the matcha itself to the one I've had at Damo, which is smooth & creamy and perfectly sweetened. The matcha cream on top of the triple was quite bitter though, so NGL it was my least favorite part of the drink. Wow thinking about replacing my morning lattes and/or Matchas with a scoop of the ultra rich Matcha gelato. There are five different flavors of Matcha (of different strengths) and also choice of hojicha and I believe coconut . The strength of Matcha ranges from #1 (lightest) to #5 (strongest). I taste tested the jasmine Matcha, which was not bad. However, my favorite was the #5, ultra rich matcha, which was a very rich and strong flavoring of an earthy matcha with just the right level of natural sweetness. So incredible. So delightful. Tried the viral cookie butter matcha and I have to say it was pretty good. This location is known for their plethora types of matcha drinks and matcha gelato. I ordered the cookie butter matcha with brown sugar boba and it was really good! I preferred more of a cookie butter taste but it was good. The amazing part of their drinks is you get to dictate how sweet you want and that really is a step up from other matcha places. They allow you to sample the matcha gelato so you can pick which one is best for you. I will have to say this plaza does have valet only for $3 and the line for this place can get really long. They may need to improve their ordering system as some new comers get stuck at the kiosk causing the line to build up fast. This location has some seating but very limited so if you're not first, it's best to get your items to go because of how long the lines are, it's very easy for this location to look overly crowded. Can't say the staff were nice and welcoming because they don't greet you or speak to you, just make your order,call your name and that's it. They don't assist with ordering or ask ppl if they need help at the kiosk. I saw one couple confused and looking for help but no one came to assist.. Not sure if they have prepay pre order but they definitely should consider that to avoid such the long wait just for a drink. I've been here four times so far and have tried their triple matcha, jasmine matcha, and gelato. I'm honestly obsessed with this place. In my opinion, this is the closest matcha to what I consider ideal--most other places are just too sweet. I usually set mine to 30% sugar, and it's perfect for me. On weekdays, I park on the street and quickly pick up my drink. Sundays are a different story--parking gets pretty crazy, so I ended up paying $3 for valet and waited about 20 minutes around 3 PM. It was hectic and busy, but the staff was very kind. One of the ladies even offered me a glass of water, which I really appreciated. Came to Matsu matcha to try their 5 levels of matcha gelato and was blown away at how rich and creamy their matcha was. You can taste the earthiness of the matcha and was not too sweet. You can choose between 1-2 flavors for the gelato and I chose the uji matcha and genmai matcha. As you progress in the levels the matcha flavor gets more rich and intense. It is good to get one high intensity and another at a lower intensity to balance the two out. The uji matcha was strong but the creaminess of the genmai matcha makes it more subtle. I ordered the matcha with gelato as well and got it with the uji matcha gelato. The base matcha late was strong and had an intense green color. There was a dollop of gelato on top which gave the drink some sweetness. It was basically a matcha float and overall delicious. This will now be a part of my matcha rotation and I am excited for this new addition in Koreatown. The place is small so it's basically grab and go. Yes; indoor small table for those in pairs. Around 15 seatings. Can fit more with people packed together. Parking? Yes; difficult. The plaza is tight and small in # of parking spaces. Had to check this new spot out after seeing the hype around their different intensity levels of gelato. We stated waiting at 4:30pm. Ordering is done through 1 self order kiosk. It took about 20 minutes of waiting in line. Lattes and gelato are both ordered at the kiosk. With gelato you can order 1 scoop or 2 scoops in a cup or cone. There are about 4 small tables inside to enjoy your treats. After ordering, staff calls out your name to pick up your order from the front. It's pretty quick. Heres what my friend and I ordered: Guava Matcha Latte: 4/5. The guava cream top reminded me of the Hawaiian Sun guava drink. I believe the topping is crushed dried guava pieces. My feedback is that I wish the cream top had more of a layer for aesthetics instead of blending into the drink. I enjoyed this drink as you can taste the matcha. Green Grape (Muscat) Matcha Gelato: 4/5. Reminds me of the muscat grape gummy candies. This is more grape focused and the matcha is more subtle. Extra Richa Matcha #4: 5/5. It lives up to the name extra rich and not bitter at all since its sweetened. It's one level above the uji matcha if you prefer a stronger matcha. Genmai Gelato: 5/5: I tried a sample of my friend's and the roasted taste is delightful! Uji Gelato: 5/5: good as well. A step down lower of intensity then extra rich #4. They offer water if you request it. We stayed for a few hours and it was amazing to see the line stayed consistent and never died down. I highly recommend this spot and will definitely be back. One of the top matcha spots I've tried in SoCal. Parking is street or valet only. It's $4.50 no limit and you pay by cash or venmo/zelle. read more

Finally checked out this place after my friend raved about it. I ordered online, and they were very quick and handled everything perfectly when I picked it up. The drinks were kept in a cooler section to stay cold. We ordered the coconut matcha cloud, strawberry matcha latte, and gelato on a matcha latte. Everything was delicious! I really liked the atmosphere - it was cute and intimate. The only downside was the parking lot, which was pretty small. read more
