Nom nom banana pudding crème brûlée matcha.

Welcome to my Koreatown matcha detour. After shopping at The Grove, we decided to make a quick stop for matcha and found this little gem that clearly isn't much of a secret anymore. When you pull into the parking lot it's packed. Valet controls the lot, so if you'd rather not use it you can try street parking -- just know it gets tough depending on the time of day. Once we found a spot and walked in, the decor was nice with a clean Japanese-style feel. There were a few places to sit, but nothing overly spacious or super accommodating. When it came time to order we weren't sure which gelato we wanted, so they kindly offered us one sample per person. Off to the left are two electronic tablets where you place your order. I wish the drink descriptions were a little clearer, but after checking a few details we were good to go. I ordered the Banana Pudding Crème Brûlée Matcha and a regular matcha with a scoop of gelato (we upgraded to the extra matcha gelato on top). The matcha quality was excellent -- you could really taste the difference. The Banana Pudding Crème Brûlée Matcha was creamy, rich, and the cold foam on top was absolutely delicious. This place has a great vibe and even better drinks. Funny side note: I used my alter ego "Papi Chulo" when ordering. When our order came up, the younger guy behind the counter read the name, looked at his coworker with a smile, then just called out the order number instead. As he set the drinks down he laughed and said, "Zero chance I'm saying that out loud!"

I visited this K Town location on a hot Saturday, at an expectedly busy time, and despite these conditions, with how packed it was, there was still space and flow for all patrons to walk right up to the counter for samples, deviate to the kiosks for orders, and wait a short amount of time for service. The location benefits from a large workspace for employees to better tend to guests' needs, and while the options are plentiful, the selection seems manageable to 1. Not get orders confused and 2. Provide a unique matcha experience I would recommend to anyone. 10/10 will come back to this underestimated recommendation A couple things to note: I did not see an option to select what kind of dairy alternatives I could get, and while I know that may deter some lactose intolerant customers I believe the quality of what's prepared sustains enjoyability for all. In case anyone is wondering... The trash can nearest the service counter (where you dispose of samples) had a bag not appropriately sized for the container and considering the volume and workforce of this location, I think it's worth mentioning the management could provide the proper receptacle so that these wonderful staff don't have to worry about what we all don't want to clean up inside a trash can, when there are very affordable and easily acquired bags for that. I noticed the bags used were actually more expensive than what a normal bulk food service order provides. Perhaps it's a result of overusing supplies and a necessary evil. But I did want to speak up for the team efficiency as well as cost savings. And lastly, this location provided a matcha experience I never thought imaginable, which options to try that really outdo the matcha world. Little did I know, the Bay Area location has even more options (so I'm told). Maybe save on the trash bags and bring more matcha to what I can guarantee is a K Town staple. Cheers!

Finally an excellent dessert place open in the village!! Matcha is definitely to die for. But so as other icecream flavor too. This time we tried to Hokkaido milk gelato. It is so good and refreshing! The line a bit long in the weekend. They do let customer try out their gelato flavor. But limit to one per customer.

I like that they have different intensity of matcha. The second strongest one was perfect for me. Service was great, they only let you try for two item, I don't really like that but I can see people abusing it in that neighborhood. It's nice and clean inside the store. Highly recommended and I will repeat.

MATCHA HEAVEN!! This place serves both matcha drinks and gelato. You can have one sample for the gelato. Side note: the parking for this plaza is VALET ONLY ($5)

Matsu Matcha is located in a valet-only parking lot, so make sure to budget accordingly (or park a block over + get validation). As their name suggests, they specialize in matcha, including gelato. Their hojicha matcha gelato was tasty, but that ultra matcha... unless you like matcha - ooh, this one STRONG! (I felt like I was eating powdered grass... the smallest nibble, and I was more alert than an adrenaline rush! The Matcha Mango Latte (30% sugar) was super tasty, and I highly recommend it. The layering was great, and the taste equally good. The staff that work here are super friendly, and they allowed samplings of their gelato too - definitely sample before ordering! Note that this location is a tad small, though, so if you come after dinner or a "rush hour" time, there may be a line out the door, and you may feel claustrophobic.

There are kiosks to order from. You get one sample of gelato. I got 2 flavors, ultra rich matcha (+$1) and dark chocolate, in a cup. Both flavors were creamy, rich, and not too sweet. About $10. Casual vibes with limited indoor seating.

They specialize in matcha. I mean, not only is it in the name, but you have gelato with different types and concentration of matcha as well as a variety of drinks you can order. The service is really friendly and the space isn't large but it's bright, clean, and has a zen-like quality to it. There is some seating, but I'm going to guess most of the business is for take out. Since it was early in the morning, I got a beverage (although I would love to come back soon and get some gelato!). And I didn't really go the traditional route. I got the banana pudding matcha cream, which was such a tasty treat! But yeah, my next visit, I will be exploring the gelato flavors for sure. The lot is pretty tiny as with most lots in K Town, but there's valet and when I went, it was early in the day so there was available street parking nearby.

One of the best matchas I've had! When you first walk in, the aesthetic is reminiscent of a Japanese tea house (but in a more japandi/minimal modern). There's kiosks where you can order and an ice cream display of all their ice creams. We got the triple matcha drink and one scoop of the Genmai matcha ice cream. The triple matcha drink is really good. The drink comes with matcha jelly and matcha creamtop and is bitter but also slightly sweet. Matcha jelly isn't too overpowering with matcha but it does give the drink a stronger matcha taste. 9/10 The genmai ice cream has a lighter matcha taste which isn't too bitter. Creamy and refreshing with a matcha aftertaste. 8/10 Stuff is friendly and they are nice enough to put our one scoop into a cup (which typically comes in a cone). Def will come back to try the other matcha drinks and ice creams!

I really enjoyed Matsu Matcha and am disappointed that there is not one near my house! This place was pretty good and the line was pretty long but also went by pretty fast. You order at the kiosk so it really depends on how long people take to order. Their ice creams are very strong in flavor for both the matcha and hojicha! You are allowed to try one sample of their gelato so I definitely recommend trying that if there isn't a wait. I also got and liked the hojicha latte. I think the only downside of this place is that it is very pricey for the size, but the quality is very good. It was very aesthetic but very little seating and just very crowded so I recommend going on a random day and time. The parking is very small and I believe it is only valet parking, so I recommend finding neighborhood/street parking.

Some of the best matcha I've had in L.A. The shop has really nice and simple decor. You order at the kiosk and my drinks came out pretty quickly. I orderd the triple matcha and the guava matcha latte. Both were delicious but I liked the triple matcha a bit more. I cant wait to go back and try some of their other fmdrinks and gelato. The only thing that wasnt the best was the parking. I think its valet only.

I was driving through Koreatown during the week, and I noticed that this is where Matsu Matcha is. I've seen the videos online where the lines are crazy on the weekends. So I was able to find a street parking. I was able to order the triple Matcha drink, which was amazing. I'd love the bits of jelly Also, the ice cream looked really good and that is something. I will have to try to get next time as well as some of the other drinks that they had. The store is fairly big however there isn't that much seating around so it is a little bit trickier to get a seat inside. Not sure if they allow mobile orders all the time or not but that might be the okay especially if there's a line for the kiosks. They have valet parking outside otherwise if you can't find any street parking. Great place for Matcha here in Koreatown

There is only valet parking in a tiny parking lot which was $5. Very nice valet guys though. No outdoor seating and only 5 seats inside so it was very crowded. However, the matcha was strong and delicious. The gelato was the perfect level of creamy and not too sweet. 50% sweetness was perfect. Definitely recommend for authentic Japanese matcha that'll keep you up at night.

It's a very cute and cozy coffee shop and there was no line when we arrived. The menu had a huge selection of different coffee and tea drinks and also a seasonal menu. The staff were very kind and patient and swiftly prepared the Vienna Latte and Hojicha Latte we ordered. The Vienna Latte is so visually stunning, the layers of white milk, brown espresso, thick white cream, brown cocoa powder and Biscoff layered on top of each other against the dark green logo was so aesthetic. Having a sip before mixing the Vienna latter was incredible, the sweet cream followed with the nutty strong espresso flavour then getting a refreshing splash of milk made a great combo with the Biscoff. I actually liked the drink less after its all mixed because it was too creamy for my taste. (I normally like my coffee black) My hojicha latte was great, but it was also too milky for me. So I went up and asked if it would taste good dirty, with an espresso shot in it, and the barista said yes. I ordered an espresso shot and instead of charging me full price, they only charged me the add on espresso shot for the drink! ($1.50 instead of $4) It was very kind of them since it was absolutely my mistake for not ordering the right drink in the first place. The shot added much depth and flavour to the hojicha latte I was craving. Thanks for the wonderful service. I'm definitely coming back to try their other specialty drinks.

No bitterness, no chalky aftertaste that cheaper ceremonial-grade pretenders leave behind. Just clean, grassy depth with a texture that's silky rather than gritty. This is someone who actually sources well and knows how to whisk Didn't stop there. The seasonal peach jasmine tea was the surprise standout ..floral jasmine up front, real peach sweetness (not syrup-bomb fake fruit) on the back end. Balanced in a way that seasonal drinks rarely pull off; most places either overdo the fruit or underdo the tea. This one's dialed in. Iced Spanish latte rounded things out and didn't miss either; espresso with enough backbone to cut through the condensed milk instead of getting buried by it. A lot of places let the sweetness take over; ROK kept the coffee actually tasting like coffee. 4 drinks, zero misses. That's not luck; that's a program that's actually dialed in behind the counter. This isn't a place riding on aesthetics and a good logo the drinks back it up. The matcha is legit, good quality stuff Come open up in OC you batches

I liked the coffee and matcha selections - I actually ended getting one coffee and one matcha because I couldn't decide! Both were soooo so good, I was sad when I was finishing them up. The size of the drinks are kind of small and they were moderately priced. I would say it was worth it because of the quality of the matcha.
