The matcha was really good! Super rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of sweetness. I really enjoyed it! The shop is pretty small and always seems to be busy, so I'd say it's more of a grab-and-go spot than a place to sit and hang out.

This place was super crowded and busy when we dropped by. It was also very hot outside and uncomfortably warm inside. Why aren't they blasting the ac? We got the strawberry parfait and it had some matcha foam at the top so I don't know how the regular matcha drinks and ice cream taste but the parfait sucked. The strawberries were very sour and everything else wasn't very sweet so it tasted unbalanced and bland. Maybe the regular parfait would have been better but the matcha foam still didn't taste like anything? Also, it took a really long time for them to make the parfait. Drinks seem to come out faster so probably skip the parfait. We walked there but if you drive, the parking lot is insane and you won't find parking like every other plaza in Koreatown.
So great beyond my expectations. No wonder why there was a sea of people inside when I visited on a Saturday afternoon. The pink drink in the photo was the guava matcha cloud which completely surprised me with its refreshing taste. Love it! I made the mistake of getting the option 1 matcha gelato, it barely had a matcha flavor.
I really like this matcha place in ktown! They have both ice cream and drinks. I got the gelato with ultra matcha and jasmine matcha. I really enjoyed both the flavors and they give a good amount. I got the sheep latte which was super cute for pictures. I also got the xtra matcha and it had a really strong matcha flavor. Could be in the bitter side if you like ur matched sweeter so I would reccomend 100% sweetness. I got the lychee coconut matcha as well but I would pass on it since the matcha flavor was overpowered by the lychee. Staff was really busy when I went on a weekend afternoon but service was great still. Parking is a little difficult but there's street parking if ur lucky.
The cheese matcha is phenomenal!!!! Gotta be my fav matcha place in LA. Top 2 and it ain't 2 :-) There is a parking lot with valet, but it's not that big given how much is in the plaza. Service is decent, they need more people making drinks. Order kiosks with a wide variety of drinks. Not much for coffee drinkers!! The gelato is thick and creamy AF. It's pretty loud in here. Wish there were bathrooms. Truly my biggest complaint.
Wow how yummy! Such high quality matcha and I love how you can try different levels of strength and types of matcha. I got #4 (so pretty strong) and I loved it. If you're a matcha newbie, maybe opt for #1 or #2 ;). B sure to try to chocolate flavor! It's SOOOOOO DECADENT!!! Chocolate lovers dream I look forward to returning to try one of their matcha drinks.
The service here needs serious improvement. 3 workers all with their backs to the customers for minutes at a time and when one finally turns around to see you or another customer waiting, they don't even say anything. I was just trying to get a sample before ordering and that took longer than actually ordering. Then the wait to my order? Nearly 15 minutes for one cup of ice cream. I ordered the Hokkaido and Extra matcha #4 cup, about $9. They advertise this as gelato but it's way too hard and it's more like ice cream, but it's probably due to the freezer and how cold the ice cream is kept. The matcha flavor was bold and had amazing matcha flavor, and it paired so well with the Hokkaido milk. I just wish they had some sort of flight or sampler to get all the matcha flavors.
8/27/2026 MATCHA PARFAIT (A layered Japanese matcha dessert with jelly, shiratama mochi, anko, roasted rice, soft cake, matcha gelato and top with ceremonial matcha cream). Very good! Layers of matcha jelly, red bean, small, round pellet-sized mochi balls, matcha gelato, matcha cream, crunchy sweet topping. Beautifully made and served with a small spoon on the side. The matcha itself was sweet, light bitterness. Parfait was light in sweetness overall. It says it takes between 15-20 mins to prepare, so order right away if you plan on getting it. I came here on a weekday, so it took about 8 mins. for the parfait. The only minus is that the pellet-sized round mochi balls were frozen together. It slowly melted as you ate, but it was annoying to eat. Overall, I enjoyed the parfait. MATCHA LATTE WITH MATCHA GELATO The matcha latte itself was lightly sweetened. No milk. Clean flavor. It comes as it is without being able to customize it to your liking. Matcha was sweet and light grassy flavor. You can choose whatever gelato you want. I chose the Uji Matcha #3 gelato. The Uji matcha gelato had a deep matcha flavor, sweet, light grassy flavor, light bitter flavor. It is made with lots of ice, so it is icy in some parts. Since you cannot customize the matcha latte itself, it was not worth getting with the matcha gelato. Better to get the matcha gelato and the matcha latte separately. Also ordered the Marukyu Koyamaen 丸久小山園 Matcha, Chigi No Shiro 千木の白（40g). Haven't tried it yet, but happy I could purchase their matchas in store. Ordered it via kiosk. SNACKPASS (Online Ordering System) You can order online and pickup via Snackpass. https://order.snackpass.co/matsumatchala. Simply Google: Matsu Matcha Ktown. Never tried their online ordering system, so I cannot write my experience on it. CUSTOMER SERVICE Ordered via self-order kiosk. So very limited customer service interaction. They simply call your name or order number when your order is ready. PARKING Very small parking lot, so best to come as soon as Matsu is open. If you cannot find parking inside the Matsu lot, you will have to park at another business parking lot and walk over. If I am in the area, I am definitely revisiting to try their other items.

Gelato: - Extra Rich Matcha (+$0.50) - 4.5/5. worth the extra cents as it tastes much stronger, less sweet, very smooth and creamy. - Uji Matcha - 4/5. Perfect middle ground, not too sweet not too strong. - Mango Sherbet - 4.6/5. Strong mango taste, very fresh, not too sweet. Highly recommended! - Hokkaido Milk - 4.5/5. Smooth, perfect sweetness, creamy. Pairs well with extra rich or ultra rich matcha! Drink: Triple Matcha (Matcha latte, matcha cream top & matcha jelly) - 4.2/5. I had 50% sugar and it was still too sweet, overpowering the matcha flavor despite having 3 different types of matcha. Otherwise, the matcha was smooth and creamy.
We drive over an hour for this gelato. Every time. That should tell you most of what you need to know. I've worked my way through every flavor at this point -- hokkaido, genmai matcha, jasmine matcha, uji matcha, extra matcha, ultra rich matcha, chocolate, and hojicha. They're all excellent. The matcha ones in particular are rich and creamy in a way I haven't found anywhere else. I do have a few notes. They only let you sample one flavor. With this many options, and several being subtle variations on matcha, one sample isn't enough to choose well. The drinks are good but they're not the reason to come, at least for me. The matcha and hojicha lattes don't hit the same creaminess or intensity as the gelato. They're also not flexible on customization. We wanted a salted cream top on our hojicha latte. No option for it on the ordering machine, and the staff wouldn't accommodate it when we asked. And parking is tough. Budget extra time. Still five stars. The gelato is that good, and none of the above has ever stopped us from making the drive.
This is what matcha heaven looks like. They offer matcha gelato with different intensities, along with hojicha, Hokkaido, dark chocolate, and mango sorbet flavors. I ordered 2 scoops, half matcha jasmine and half ultra rich #5 matcha. Both flavors exceeded any expectations I had. The matcha surprisingly did not overshadow the jasmine, and you get a really nice balance of both. The ultra rich matcha was strong and earthy without being excessively bitter. You can tell they do not skimp on matcha quality here. Parking is paid valet in the lot or street parking. The interior space is very cute but quite small. It can also get very packed during the lunch and dinner peak hours, so it can be difficult to find a seat or table. Ordering is done at the kiosk. I already can't wait to come back!

I love that they offer a whole range of matcha intensities in their ice cream -- you can pick how deep you want to go, which is such a fun concept. We got a scoop of the matcha ice cream and it was so good! The matcha is obviously really high quality here. Even the darkest and richest level was delicious rather than overwhelmingly bitter, and that ended up being our favorite of the bunch. I only wish I'd tried their matcha latte too, but we were so full by that point. Next time for sure! read more
Best matcha gelato ever! I always get their Jasmine Matcha and Uji Matcha gelato and they never disappoint. Even though they can get busy, you still get your order pretty quickly. The interior of the store is really cute but I did wish that the inside had more seating. This plaza is $5 valet though so I recommend trying to find street parking even though it may be hard considering it's Koreatown. read more
My favorite new matcha spot! I've been to many matcha places all throughout LA and this is the best one in my opinion. It's rich in flavor and extremely creamy both in gelato and drink form. My favorite flavor is the uji matcha and ultra rich matcha #4. You can request to try a sample of the gelato before ordering. I don't remember if there was a limit to how many you can try? To place your order it's through an ipad. Service was quick and they are great about wiping down the tables after a customer leaves to ensure it's not sticky or dirty. The vincity is very small with limited seating so it can be difficult if you want to sit down and enjoy your time there with friends. I have ordered 2-3x from them through DoorDash and my gelato on matcha blend is always sealed nicely in an insulated bag to keep it from getting melted in this summer heat. I will bring all my matcha lovers here ! read more

That matcha is STRONGGGGG, in the best way. Have been here now twice, and it hasn't disappointed. Super cute aesthetic, and ordering is with a tablet, and post ordering service is efficient. Got the level 5, which is a major pick me up energy wise, but great flavor (not grassy). Also have gotten both the jasmine and grape, which were level 2s. The grape was AMAZING. I went back this last weekend, and they had the Jasmine instead, which was great, but the grape was the mvp. Not artificial, just great flavor. Will be back read more
Welcome to my Koreatown matcha detour. After shopping at The Grove, we decided to make a quick stop for matcha and found this little gem that clearly isn't much of a secret anymore. When you pull into the parking lot it's packed. Valet controls the lot, so if you'd rather not use it you can try street parking -- just know it gets tough depending on the time of day. Once we found a spot and walked in, the decor was nice with a clean Japanese-style feel. There were a few places to sit, but nothing overly spacious or super accommodating. When it came time to order we weren't sure which gelato we wanted, so they kindly offered us one sample per person. Off to the left are two electronic tablets where you place your order. I wish the drink descriptions were a little clearer, but after checking a few details we were good to go. I ordered the Banana Pudding Crème Brûlée Matcha and a regular matcha with a scoop of gelato (we upgraded to the extra matcha gelato on top). The matcha quality was excellent -- you could really taste the difference. The Banana Pudding Crème Brûlée Matcha was creamy, rich, and the cold foam on top was absolutely delicious. This place has a great vibe and even better drinks. Funny side note: I used my alter ego "Papi Chulo" when ordering. When our order came up, the younger guy behind the counter read the name, looked at his coworker with a smile, then just called out the order number instead. As he set the drinks down he laughed and said, "Zero chance I'm saying that out loud!" read more
Best quality matcha I've had. I ordered a matcha latte with a extra matcha ice cream, I ordered the matcha with level of sugar 0 because I love to try the matcha by itself, and the quality is soooo good. The ice cream is very creamy and it was sweet, I am not sure if its sugar but it's sweet. My fiancée ordered a banana pudding creme brulee and it was soooo good and sweet and you could taste the matcha flavor. This is so far the best quality matcha in koretown read more
Matsu Matcha was very busy on a Friday night. The valet lot was full, but luckily our friend grab the last spot. We self ordered on the kiosk the matcha strawberry latte, matcha latte, and a jasmine pistachio coconut. Although the last drink does not have matcha, it was still refreshing. Would love to come back and try the matcha gelato. The place does get pretty loud when it's crowded though. read more

I like that they have different intensity of matcha. The second strongest one was perfect for me. Service was great, they only let you try for two item, I don't really like that but I can see people abusing it in that neighborhood. It's nice and clean inside the store. Highly recommended and I will repeat. read more

came on a saturday around 7pm and there were only two other people ahead of us in line! (there are two ordering kiosks) inside was small but it felt cozy and clean. there was a good amount of seating and it was decorated very well. the hojicha latte w hojicha gelato (3/5) - i thought this was just okay, a bit lacking in flavor surprisingly. i think i would've preferred the matcha version so ill definitely try that next time. ultra rich matcha #5 and hokkaido milk gelato (5/5) - this combo was sooo yummy. the hokkaido milk was so creamy and balanced out the level #5 perfectly. read more
Went on a Friday, and it was pretty busy inside. Ordered through self service kiosk and got the Hojicha with Hojicha Gelato. The item came out fast, and I have to say, it was really good hojicha. I got it less sweet so it tasted more nutty and the gelato was creamy with great flavor. The only thing is parking in the lot can be a pain even with valet. Definitely will be back to try their matcha options! read more

Dropped by this place since I was already in Little Tokyo. It was a Sunday afternoon, so the line and the wait were long. The wait was worth it though in my opinion. There's no indoor seatings, but there are some outdoor ones. I sampled the hojicha gelato and ordered the Triple Matcha, a matcha latte with a matcha cream top and matcha jelly at their recommended sweetness (80%). The sweetness was just right for me and the matcha flavors came through really well. It was a nice, cold treat in the heat for sure! Definitely coming back again because there's so matcha to try! read more

Matsu Matcha is located in a valet-only parking lot, so make sure to budget accordingly (or park a block over + get validation). As their name suggests, they specialize in matcha, including gelato. Their hojicha matcha gelato was tasty, but that ultra matcha... unless you like matcha - ooh, this one STRONG! (I felt like I was eating powdered grass... the smallest nibble, and I was more alert than an adrenaline rush! The Matcha Mango Latte (30% sugar) was super tasty, and I highly recommend it. The layering was great, and the taste equally good. The staff that work here are super friendly, and they allowed samplings of their gelato too - definitely sample before ordering! Note that this location is a tad small, though, so if you come after dinner or a "rush hour" time, there may be a line out the door, and you may feel claustrophobic. read more
They specialize in matcha. I mean, not only is it in the name, but you have gelato with different types and concentration of matcha as well as a variety of drinks you can order. The service is really friendly and the space isn't large but it's bright, clean, and has a zen-like quality to it. There is some seating, but I'm going to guess most of the business is for take out. Since it was early in the morning, I got a beverage (although I would love to come back soon and get some gelato!). And I didn't really go the traditional route. I got the banana pudding matcha cream, which was such a tasty treat! But yeah, my next visit, I will be exploring the gelato flavors for sure. The lot is pretty tiny as with most lots in K Town, but there's valet and when I went, it was early in the day so there was available street parking nearby. read more

I tried the No. 5 Extra Strong Matcha, and it was delicious! The matcha flavor was rich and intense without being too sweet, which I really enjoyed. The shop is beautifully decorated, and the drinks are so photogenic! Such a lovely spot for matcha lovers and taking cute pictures. Definitely worth a visit! read more

One of the best matchas I've had! When you first walk in, the aesthetic is reminiscent of a Japanese tea house (but in a more japandi/minimal modern). There's kiosks where you can order and an ice cream display of all their ice creams. We got the triple matcha drink and one scoop of the Genmai matcha ice cream. The triple matcha drink is really good. The drink comes with matcha jelly and matcha creamtop and is bitter but also slightly sweet. Matcha jelly isn't too overpowering with matcha but it does give the drink a stronger matcha taste. 9/10 The genmai ice cream has a lighter matcha taste which isn't too bitter. Creamy and refreshing with a matcha aftertaste. 8/10 Stuff is friendly and they are nice enough to put our one scoop into a cup (which typically comes in a cone). Def will come back to try the other matcha drinks and ice creams! read more
I really enjoyed Matsu Matcha and am disappointed that there is not one near my house! This place was pretty good and the line was pretty long but also went by pretty fast. You order at the kiosk so it really depends on how long people take to order. Their ice creams are very strong in flavor for both the matcha and hojicha! You are allowed to try one sample of their gelato so I definitely recommend trying that if there isn't a wait. I also got and liked the hojicha latte. I think the only downside of this place is that it is very pricey for the size, but the quality is very good. It was very aesthetic but very little seating and just very crowded so I recommend going on a random day and time. The parking is very small and I believe it is only valet parking, so I recommend finding neighborhood/street parking. read more
Some of the best matcha I've had in L.A. The shop has really nice and simple decor. You order at the kiosk and my drinks came out pretty quickly. I orderd the triple matcha and the guava matcha latte. Both were delicious but I liked the triple matcha a bit more. I cant wait to go back and try some of their other fmdrinks and gelato. I was driving through Koreatown during the week, and I noticed that this is where Matsu Matcha is. I've seen the videos online where the lines are crazy on the weekends. So I was able to find a street parking. I was able to order the triple Matcha drink, which was amazing. I'd love the bits of jelly Also, the ice cream looked really good and that is something. I will have to try to get next time as well as some of the other drinks that they had. The store is fairly big however there isn't that much seating around so it is a little bit trickier to get a seat inside. Not sure if they allow mobile orders all the time or not but that might be the okay especially if there's a line for the kiosks. Is it pricey? Yes. Is the interior very small? Yes. Is there barely any parking? Also yes. Is it worth it anyways? 10000% if you love matcha in all kinds of forms Matsu is what you you want it to be. The gelato is delicious, the drinks are perfect, and as long as you know what level of intensity you like you will not be let down. The kiosks are easy to order at and the drinks and gelato come out relatively quickly. Go early and enjoy an afternoon treat before the place fills up! read more

There is only valet parking in a tiny parking lot which was $5. Very nice valet guys though. No outdoor seating and only 5 seats inside so it was very crowded. However, the matcha was strong and delicious. The gelato was the perfect level of creamy and not too sweet. 50% sweetness was perfect. Definitely recommend for authentic Japanese matcha that'll keep you up at night. read more
