I always love trying out a new coffee shop and since I was in the area, I decided it was time to discover a new one. This is such a quaint neighborhood-type cafe, it almost feels like you're walking into someone's home, in contrast to the hustling and bustling city it's nestled in within Hollywood. It's an Aussie cafe, they have some swag items with what I assume is Aussie slang? And lots of options for what to get to drink. Definitely a pickup and go type spot given the small square footage. I chose the vegemite caramel latte. If I'm trying somewhere new and that somewhere new is Australian, you have to go with vegemite. But I'll be honest, I didn't really know what vegemite is exactly, of course I've heard of it before, but what is it?, I still can't tell you. But the nice lady assured me that they make the syrup in house just using a little of the Vegemite and the drink just tastes like rich caramel. I got it with almond milk. It wasn't cheap... it rang up to over $8. But thankfully they don't charge for non-dairy milk. The portion seemed a little small for such a hefty price tag but given the latte's richness in flavor, it actually was just enough. Good stuff! Check it out. read more

Such a cute and hidden Aussie owned little coffee shop! Literally we were driving by and only because of the bright blues and wavy ocean vibes did it catch our attention! Definitely a hole in the wall shop, but they do have a couple of parking spots, a few seats inside and a bench outside for seating. My friend and I walked in to warm greetings yesterday as we popped in for some afternoon caffeination. I had an iced nitro cold brew which was tasty for $7 and my friend had a tonic, we were both pleased with our drinks. Such a cute shop that I will surely pop into to try more of on their menu in the future! As I walked out I joked that I, too, am Australian owned much like this coffee shop - working for an Australian tech comp for 16 years. Har har! TLDR: Great for coffee and pastries, not so much for working / chatting. Outdoors is fine, but flies everywhere in cramped spot. - - - - - - I discovered Tectonic Coffee from Toogoodtogo with a surprise bag and stopped by for an iced latte as well. The latte was amazing; the beans were of good quality and fairly sweet but bold, not a hint of acidity or sourness. The pastries included cookies and donuts, which were all on the sweeter end but had good texture. Parking here wasn't the easiest to find, though there are many spots around the block. (Caution: narrow streets) Outside of the coffee and pastries, there isn't much space to work at. The tables are all outdoors. Though they have Wi-Fi, the work space is a square, cramped, covered alley that has so many flies that focusing is difficult. read more

Expensive but great Australian coffee shop in the West Hollywood area! I visited this small coffee shop during Pride weekend on a Sunday and it was decently busy. The small space was adorned with Aussie décor and there was a small table and seating area by the window. As a Southeast Asian, I had to order the Milo Mocha as it was a nostalgic part of my childhood and this did not disappoint! The ice drink was chocolatey and yummy! The milo combined well with the coffee. I also absolutely loved the crunch milo bits on the top. The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because of the size relative to the price. It comes in a really small plastic cup for $9!!! It was very expensive for what you get. However, if price and size isn't a big component for you, it leaves this as a coffee shop serving up some great drinks. I would visit again if I wasn't trying to save too much. read more

My husband and I randomly stumbled upon this place after eating at Mamie across the street. It's a cute Aussie-owned cafe with a little outdoor patio. The indoor space is tiny with no seating (basically just a counter to order) and a few tables outside. I got an iced Cafe de Olla Latte and my husband got a hot Vanilla Latte. I liked the cinnamon and star anise flavors in my well-balanced latte. I was hoping for a bit more of that orange peel flavor though but it was super subtle. The latte art on the vanilla latte was beautiful. Overall, we enjoyed our drinks although it was a bit pricey for $7.70 per drink but then again, this is LA! We were in the area and popped by for a quick coffee fix. This coffee shop is tucked away from the main road and is itty bitty (like really itty bitty!). We walked in while someone was ordering and it felt a bit cramped, but there was some extra space to sit if we wanted to. There were two kind employees behind the bar serving and made some really fantastic coffee. I ordered the cafe de olla latte with cold foam (not too sweet and the coffee was smooth and easy to drink) while my partner ordered the espresso tonic (bitter for me but that's what my partner likes). The mini Aussie coffee shop just added the long list of cafes in West Hollywood. It's surely more a grab-and-go style with no seats provided either indoor and outdoor so people mostly just came, ordered, then left. My curiosity was triggered as I LOVE AUSSIE COFFEE! Couldn't skip a day without having multiple cups of joe in Sydney and Melbourne. If you've been to Aussie, you would have known that Milo (malted chocolate drink) is also a big thing there. Tectonic did serve it as Mocha and it's decent enough to satisfy the craving. It's not as sweet as I expected, prolly also because it's balanced by the coffee. The chocolate flavor was on the bolder side compared to the coffee itself so if you fancied your mocha going that way, this might be for you. I also tried their Vanilla Latte and did ask for extra vanilla syrup after my first sip as it's quite bland initially. The coffee overall was good, but I wouldn't call it my favorite. read more

New cafe with great staff! My bf spotted Tectonic along our drive and immediately pulled over LOL. Impressed by his eye (or addiction?) for coffee... Wedged into the street is this tiny lot of a cafe, no bigger than an average studio... Minimalist design with big focus on their drinks. MILO MOCHA CRUNCH: !!!! Must-try! Love the velvety Milo blended between sips and crunchy bits. Surprised they could elevate Milo like this. I've seen Milo blended into lattes before, but they've got the texture and flavor perfected here-- just the right amount of cocoa and nutty. We had a chance to chat with the barista onsite (owner...?), who spoke about expanding Tectonic into its own shop after selling their beans elsewhere. Very humble + knowledgeable. Ordered: Cafe De Olla - 5/5 It was quite simple but it was an elevated iced latte of sorts. The sweetness was perfectly balanced with the delicious coffee. Getting a coffee out the gate with no extra fixings on the side to adjust is hard for me! Deaton is a gem! We hit it off since I spoke to him about traveling to AU so many times. Really great guy!
