Found this new spot in ktown in the MaDang Plaza and it's such a hidden gem! The cafe is pretty well hidden by the left side of the stairs when you enter the plaza but inside is a nice bright cafe vibe where you'll find others hanging out or on their devices. The cafe is not too small but not too big either. I'd say it's the perfect spot to just hangout. Unfortunately though, my wife and I weren't able to try out the food as we weren't hungry, just thirsty. We ordered the Yuzu ade which was brought out to our table quickly and is very well made. Although a simple recipe, it was very refreshing and easy to drink. Highly recommend. Looking at their menu, this is a great spot for brunch, their foods and drinks are pretty social media worthy which makes me excited to visit again later on. Looking forward to ordering some food next visit.

I can't remember if this was a vanilla latte or caramel but either way, it was sufficient! I originally wanted their banana cream latte but they ran out of banana cream ): I like the space though! There's indoor and outdoor seating. There's wifi as well but it was down when I went.

Food was delicious! I love a place that does simple foods really good. I got the avocado toast which was delicious with a fried egg on top. Maybe I'm biased but the arugula salad was divine. Will definitely return in the future. The coffee was also delicious (Dalgona latte) and with the candy on top the coffee continued to get sweeter the longer the candy melted into it and it made it better and better. Workers were very sweet and brought out our food quickly!

Such a charming café with a cozy atmosphere and beautiful presentation. We ordered the salmon bagel, unicorn salad, kimchi cheese fried rice, hazelnut cake, taiyaki, and two smoothies. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. The salad was especially refreshing, the bagel was packed with fresh salmon, and the fried rice had a great balance of savory and cheesy flavors. The desserts were just as impressive and paired perfectly with the smoothies. Friendly service and a relaxing vibe make this a great spot for brunch or coffee. Definitely worth a visit!

French style brunch and cafe in KTown. The patio is lovely and great place for brunch or coffee. The lox bagel was perfect for brunch. The pasta and salad were also great. The service was great and the server was friendly. After brunch, we went to downstairs to H mart which was also perfect. Great location.

This café was wonderful! Having a parking lot with validated parking is a huge bonus, especially in Los Angeles. The service was exceptional--the staff was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely happy to help. The food was absolutely delicious, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations. I truly enjoyed dining here and would definitely recommend it to others.

Adorable hidden gem that I never knew existed despite having walked past here several times not to mention I've gone to this plaza on numerous occasions to for Korean desserts, groceries, and boba! It has the perfect elevation overlooking Western Ave with the Solar building directly across. It's in an urban setting but oddly feels very cozy. Ok, you probably want to know more about the food and drinks. Disclaimer: I only grabbed coffee here but the cold brew was PHENOMENAL. The menu said it's brewed for 18 hours. I believe that. I also believe you should stop by here if you're ever in the area.

We got a strawberry matcha, caramel and vanilla latte. We also got a house omelette, Belgian waffle and a bagel. Tbh i don't recommend coming back, the overall total we paid was 83 and the food wasn't great. The omelette was very under seasoned, and the Belgium waffle was doughy. I also don't recommend their strawberry matcha because it tasted like pure strawberry milk and no matcha. The lattes were imo the only redeeming part. The ambience and service were a 4/5. The other thing that was a bit shocking to me was when they asked to hold our credit card when we sat outside. We obviously gave our credit card to them but it was a bit off putting imo. I didn't see the server ask anyone else for their credit cards or I didn't see but it was very off-putting. Besides this, I would only recommend the latte and the bagel.

Such a cute new Korean brunch spot! The atmosphere is clean, cozy, and perfect for brunch with friends. We sat on the patio and loved the vibe. Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the Terrasse Banh Mi, Creamy Shrimp Pasta, and the Dalgona Latte. Don't skip the Taiyaki--crispy outside, soft inside, and not overly sweet. Bonus points for 3-hour validated parking in Ktown, plus you can grab groceries at H Mart or shop around after brunch. Friendly service too. Highly recommend!

First timer! Friendly staff. Really cute shop with lots of seating both indoor and outdoor. Ordered the Vienna Latte and Banana Cream Latte. Both were very good.

I've always come here just for coffee, but this time I ordered food. The baguette was really fresh with a great texture. As always, I loved the modern interior and the clean, welcoming atmosphere. Also, all employees are super nice and kind!

When it comes to coffee, I have an overwhelming number of options. I do be living in Koreatown, after all. And I've been to many past versions(?) of cafés that took up this spot in the Madang mall... but only ever since it became Cafe Terrasse, I've returned three times, which intrigued me to finally leave a review. I think it's staying, which is good. I'm all for small businesses putting down roots and growing. A solid spot amid the Wilshire Western chaos. I like the airy interior and comfy chairs. It's nothing too grand, but it always seems to be blessed with natural lighting and soft music. And there's something healing about a cafe that's just comfortable enough, just bright enough, and just busy enough. I don't have a picture of it, because I'm always busy stuffing it in my mouth as soon as it comes out, but I adore their grilled cheese with tomato bisque. It's actually perfect for when you can't decide what you want for breakfast/brunch but need to put something in your stomach ASAP.

Such a cute, clean, quiet patio for tipsy convos with $10 happy hour drinks

Hidden gem in ktown! I've been here for brunch & the weekend night happy hour and both were such a fun time. I loved their noodle salad & my friends really liked the fried rice. I love the cute outdoor patio vibe & how lowkey and intimate it is at night. Idk how they don't have more customers on weekend nights because they have happy hour drinks for $10, which is insane for LA. I loved this place so much I brought fiancé here to show him how great the happy hour menu is. My girlfriends and I met here on a Saturday night for a happy hour pregame before our next plans and it was such a vibe!! The workers are always super nice and quick with their service. Genuinely such a great little place. I want to gatekeep it but they deserve more hype.

I was instantly so glad we chose this spot to celebrate our anniversary because it was the perfect setting for a romantic date night. Now, let's talk about the food! Everything we ordered was delicious, with the exception of the Korean aguachiles, which we probably could've skipped. We also tried the bluefin bibimbap, oysters, and the oh-so-tender short rib that practically melted in our mouths. But the most unforgettable dish was also the simplest: the Korean fried chicken. It wasn't necessarily something out of the ordinary, but it sure tasted like it. The perfect crisp, flavor, and seasoning had us eating every last piece right down to the bone. Our server also made the experience even better. She gave us some of the best recommendations and were incredibly attentive and friendly throughout the entire meal. We absolutely loved this restaurant and are already planning our next visit!

This spot opened about a year ago, and has a cool speakeasy style entrance at the Highland Park Bowl bowling alley. It is a small space, and I would highly recommend making a reservation on Resy. You have 90 minutes to drink and dine. I parked behind the bowling alley where there is a medium sized pay parking lot. Park in a space, remember your space number painted on the ground, and go to the pay station at the end of the lot. I found the parking machine to be extremely finicky as did other people. After ten minutes of failure, I ended up moving my car to another space, and then it worked. This has nothing to do with the Lucky Tiki, but FYI if you park there. We walked around to the front of the bowling alley, and checked in. Seating options include at the bar, tiki hut booths, and high top tables. The décor inside is a tiki lovers paradise. The room has a high ceiling with many tiki lamps, floats, puffer fish, tiki huts, thatch, ropes, barrels, netting, carvings, a hanging canoe, and a large tiki right in the middle of the space. In addition to the great décor, when you order certain drinks, special effects are triggered. There was also great tiki music playing all evening. We sat at the bar since we always enjoy talking to the bartenders. We actually ran into Skipper Christian in the parking lot on the way in, and he ended up being our main bartender, with Nick and Jo also working behind the bar. We put in a food order right away. The chicken potstickers ($12) came with five tasty bites, and the garlic teriyaki dipping sauce was good. We also had the giant pretzel ($16) which comes with mustard, beer cheese, and ranch sauces. This was excellent, and the perfect filling snack before a bunch of drinks. My first drink was the Siren's Song (Flor de Cana Eco rum, lemon juice, cassis, Oloroso sherry, apricot foam topper, $19). This drink is served in a great mermaid with skull mug and triggers special sound effects and bubbles fill the air. Those bubbles on top of the drink had a great light citrusy apricot flavor, probably the best flavored bubbles I've ever had. The drink itself was very good and balanced with some complexity. She wasn't sure what to order at first, and Christian asked her what flavors she liked. He ended up making a spin on a Tradewinds with some mango and pineapple to go along with the apricot and coconut. It was nicely balanced and not too sweet, even with all that fruit in there. My second drink was the Sun of Suns (Tierra de Acre mezcal, coconut cream, Giffard mango liqueur, pineapple juice, lime juice, $17). This was coconut and pineapple forward with some good smokiness in the background. Her second drink was the Whatever Floats Your Boat (Ford's gin, lemon juice, velvet falernum, orgeat, passion fruit syrup, guava soda, topped with hazelnut passion fruit foam, $19). It is served in a cool boat mug, and triggers thunder sound effects and lighted mechanical Polynesian tiki characters paddling a canoe over the bar. This was another good balanced drink. It was a little gin forward and the passion fruit popped out, maybe from being both in the drink and the foam top. That creamy hazelnut passion fruit form on top is delicious. I'd happily have a glass of that on its own. We were still a little hungry so we ordered the Hawaiian pizza (marinara, diced pepperoni, red onion, pineapple chunks, hot capicola ham, $16). It was another good tasting, perfectly sized snack, and the crust was light and airy. We were already fifteen minutes over our time limit, but we got the green light to stay longer to order a third drink to share. We ordered the Tiki Diablo (Flor de Cana Eco rum, Worthy Park 109 rum, Alma Tepecha chile liqueur, orange juice, lime juice, mango syrup, guava soda, $24). This drink serves two people, is served in a cool volcano bowl with glowing red lava around it, and comes with a fire show. Unfortunately, right after it was served, the host came over and said we were over our time and had to leave shortly. Christian made up for it by giving us two tall pours to go enjoy in the bowling alley bar area which was fine. We were happy we got some extra time inside. The drink was also very good, balanced with a little complexity. We had a great time. There is so much great décor to look at. The drinks and food were very good, and some of the the drink presentations and special effects were the icing on the cake. All of the bartenders were very friendly and a lot of fun. We purchased up a few zombie glasses to take home as a souvenir. I'd definitely recommend visiting the Lucky Tiki in Highland Park!

We decided to get a drink to celebrate Father's Day, only to strike out at the first two bars we tried--I guess a lot of places are closed at 9:30 on a Sunday. This is how we ended up at Thunderbolt, a buzzy bar in Echo Park, just far enough away that we'd never made our way over. I loved it immediately. Thunderbolt has the friendly, comfortable atmosphere of a neighborhood bar and the hip aesthetic and high-level cocktails of a millennial boozer destination. (Not that young people can't or shouldn't hang out here, but it seems especially geared toward people like us, who drank at Walker Inn a decade ago.) We ended up sitting next to a guy who regularly drives up from Palos Verdes. I guess the place gets pretty busy, but it was ideal on a Sunday night. Happening but not crowded, with just enough space at the bar for us to grab two seats together. The bartender was great, super helpful and welcoming. He also made excellent drinks. Thunderbolt is one of those bars with an encyclopedic illustrated book for a menu. Not a long menu, just a detailed one, with a lot of information available about each drink. We got a Liquid Picnic and a Barcelonnette--just one round to close out the weekend. Both were delicious. The Liquid Picnic was a smooth, savory gin martini made with London dry gin, tomato, citron, vermouth, rosemary, and black pepper. I learned from the book that it used clarified tomato water. (There was also further reading about the clarification process.) The Barcelonnette was a mezcal sour with Suze, passionfruit, and lime, the foam made without egg white through some geeky mixologist process. Thunderbolt is not our neighborhood bar, but we plan to go back when we can to check out the rest of the menu. It's a wonderful place, well worth a jaunt on the freeway.
