Iced Cream Brûlée Latte & iced matcha latte
    Annie L.

If you're craving a dose of caffeine in Koreatown before your Kbbq meal, come get your fix at the Alchemist coffee project! We stopped in to order an iced crème Brûlée latte and iced matcha latte and it was cool, creamy, satisfying quench to beat the heat after a climb up Hollywood hills. For matcha lovers like me, they have several types of matcha drinks from einspanner, matcha latte, matcha tea, etc.

Alchemist is easily one of my favorite coffee spots in LA. The Lavender Matcha Latte is exceptional, very smooth and aromatic, with just the light floral note that elevates the matcha without overpowering it. It's one of those drinks you actually crave after trying once, can't get enough of it! The service has always been solid. Honey Cake is a must try, both the original and the cocoa version are incredible. Soft, rich, and not overly sweet. Highly recommend trying at least one. I definitely prefer this location over the one on Vermont. It feels cleaner, a bit quieter, and overall more relaxed. The area itself is also much calmer compared to the Vermont location, which makes it a big difference if you want to simply sit and enjoy your drink, or get some work done.

I visited Alchemist Coffee Project at The Pearl on Sunday, May 4th, 2025. I heard that they sell Dubai chocolate and it was good, so I wanted to give it a try. I ordered a coffee and the Dubai chocolate. The coffee was good but unfortunately, the Dubai chocolate didn't quite meet my expectations. I don't remember the service very clearly, but overall it seemed fine.

I love their coffee specially the tiramisu latter is sooo good every time we come they have already run out of pastries but we were lucky this time. I just wish they would take their time to warm up the pastries because they are always cold from the inside.

Im so glad that I stayed in koreatown during my LA visit so I can come to this spot I absolutely love black sesame in coffee and I don't find much of it. This place had the absolute best black sesame latte I've ever had. I ordered the misugaru latte, which also had a mix of different grains and a nutty cloud foam top. It reminds me of the Chinese cereal drink I used to have as a kid. So delicious. I also love that the place looks to be inspired by the Alchemist book, which is one of my favorite reads. They sell the books in the cafe as well. The space looks minimalist modern with plenty of ADA and group seating for studying and meeting with friends. I walked but they validate parking in that building.

I visited Alchemist once a long time ago, probably around the time they first opened, and I wasn't too impressed back then. But recently, my friend and I stopped by again on one of our regular coffee dates, where we explore different coffee spots and try new items. Let me just say--my experience this time was so much better than what I remembered. In fact, the drink I ordered was so memorable, I felt compelled to write this review. Alchemist is located on a busy street in Koreatown. I managed to find street parking right across the street on a Sunday, though I'm not sure if they have designated parking for the shop itself. Once inside, it's easy to see why this place attracts a lot of students and remote workers. The atmosphere is relaxed, with plenty of people studying, working, or just enjoying a quiet moment with their drinks and pastries. It also looks like they've updated the space since my last visit--adding more furniture to accommodate more guests. There's also a small outdoor seating area, which is great when the inside gets full. Although I wasn't in the mood for coffee, I ordered their Peach Lemonade, which is made with organic peach peony tea and fresh-squeezed lemonade. I don't know what kind of magic is in that combination, but it was absolutely perfect for my palate~ So much so that I'm already craving it again today! It wasn't overly sweet, and they didn't drown it in ice like a lot of places do. I expected some tartness from the lemonade, but it was surprisingly smooth and well-balanced. The peach tea added a delicate, floral note that elevated the whole drink. It was especially refreshing on a warm Sunday afternoon. Now I'm genuinely curious to see what new drinks they'll have next time I visit and can't wait to go back~~

It's a puzzling esthetic but as I sat down, enjoyed my coffee, and took into the actual vibe of the coffee shop, I kinda got it. Sitting inside, I felt I was outside a coffee brewery on a cloudy sad day. The 80's music playing definitely made me reminisce of Midwest rainy days with little to no sun. I appreciated it more the more I put my head up and looked around instead of on my phone. I got a vanilla type iced espresso (einsplainer sp?) with focaccia prosciutto small plate. Both were tasty and added to my experience in the shop. The einspainer had a great espresso kick under the vanilla cream and a splash of honey . The focaccia bread had a lot of mozzarella cheese, so if you're into that, it's actually quite epic.

Great space for hanging out and working. It was packed on a Sunday late afternoon tho. We got the matcha einspanners and it was delicious. Just small and expensive $7.

    Hot Lavender Matcha Latte

Super calm environment with lots of seating. I had a hot Americano, cappuccino, and hot lavender matcha with oat milk- all 10/10. Steamed milk was smooth and not super foamy which I always enjoy.

I love the cafe vibe - can work in here with plenty of outlets and free wifi. Clean bathrooms. My favorite item is the tiramisu latte

5 stars for being the closest coffee shop to me and having great coffee and working space! Friendly staff that give treats to my dog. And for spending $7-8 for a latte, what a delight to get horse/unicorn latte art?? I've tried a number of their drinks- honey latte, vanilla latte, creme brûlée latte, tiramisu latte, einspanner, matcha einspanner, pour over black coffee, etc.. I loved the einspanner the best that is espresso, cream, and vanilla. I love how strong it was but creamy. It's an 8oz iced drink, but really really good. It's like a dessert!

This cafe was very aesthetic and the perfect spot to get work done or enjoy your choice of coffee or matcha while catching up with a friend! Our orders were efficiently prepared as soon as we ordered. The end result of our matcha and vanilla latte was prepared directly in front of us when combining the coffee with ice and adding matcha powder on the top! The matcha we ordered worked perfectly with the foam added on top and was very delicious and authentic! The parking lot available looked to be valet so we just walked from a nearby parking.

Came in the evening, wish I got to try the bagels but the kitchen closes at 3. I would not recommend the Matcha Latter with oat milk, but the Matcha Einspanner was not bad! The interior was a clean, nice study spot but they don't have many outlets. One downside was although the music was nice (alternative indie), it was quite loud and the cafe overall was pretty noisy (might not be able to focus on work). Wifi worked well! Service was nice and drinks came out fast. Overall would come again to try the kitchen items :)

Blueberry Roti ($4)-- Flaky crumble on top and blueberry jam?? YES YESSSS. I liked this so much I'd definitely go back for it. Blueberry jam is so underrated and it's rare to find it in a pastry! Makes for a good sweet lil treat. Hot latte ($5)-- Perfect!! No complaints. Not too milky, not too light. Good ratio. I was actually kind of worried ordering a latte because not every place does it right but it's good here! Iced blueberry matcha ($6?)-- I see lots of good things about this drink on here but ooooooof... it missed the mark and by a LOOOT too. It was green sweet cereal milk. Where's the matcha? Ended up tossing after a couple sips. ANDDD for those matcha purists this is NOOOT the place for you! They have it pre mixed in a milk gallon. It's relatively busy but the line moved swiftly. The Larchmont store was pretty lively with the crowded and colorful wall deco! It's pretty fun to see that they came up with more seasonal items lately and most of them nailed it well when they came to cookies. Previously the lemon one and the most recent was the Raspberry Pistachio which I was impressed by as I just fancied sweet and refreshing combo of white chocolate and raspberry. The pistachio added more texture to it for sure. Same as any Levain cookies, best enjoyed warm and fresh out of oven. The Cookie Milk Latte was actually the main reason bringing me here, yet I was bit let down by it as I was expecting more malty cookie flavor in the drink. I felt it tasted not much different to regular cream top latte with some cookie crumbles in it.

They seemed kind of confused. My Man Go: 2/10. A trompe l'œil pastry designed to look like a mango, filled with fresh mango, mango mousse, and sitting atop a hazelnut praline cookie. For starters, the chocolate shell was soft and lacked the crispness of properly tempered chocolate. Either that, or it had started melting due to improper temperature regulation in the case. The fresh mango was overripe and had no texture; the mousse was similarly made of overripe mango and was room temperature. The praline was not made properly, and had zero structure. I don't really understand how all of these things can be true when it appears as though the pastries are sitting in a refrigerated case. What a waste of mango. Interior was standard, no decorations. TVs playing Tik Tok reviews. Tables were all dirty, probably because of the lack of structural integrity of the pastries.
