Quite the longstanding coffee spot in ktown. Seating's terrible for studying but great for a grab n go. Parking isn't terrible on the street but I can imagine it gets worse later in the day. Generally good espresso, solid plain lattes. mad spice latte - interesting blend of spices, they settle at the bottom so you'll have to mix a lot. I'm so sad. I loooooved document but my problem is pricing. I haven't been in a while bc prices have been increasing at coffee shops to the point it's more expensive than buying a ready-to-go meal from Trader Joe's. I decided to treat myself today and found out they now charge extra 25¢ for ice in your latte. $9 for a latte is insane, but it's becoming more of a norm nowadays I guess. Just crazy. Also, their pastry drawer has small little flies in it whenever I'm there. It's pretty gross. Wish this was better regulated. I still love their drinks, and it's always been consistent. Great quality coffee spot! The moment you enter, it feels like an art gallery with great lighting, pictures of employees on walls, and the clean aesthetics! This place is not really a study spot, more of a grab and go or chill while standing vibes. You can also hang out in their outside area (in parking lot side). Their coffee quality really stands out, especially when their decaf americano is almost like regular americano in quality, you know it's a good spot! We ended up here because it was the only coffee place we could think of that had a parking lot! K-town parking can really make or break a trip!! I came here before and had a Nurunji latte last winter that I looooved! It was hearty and warm. I didn't see that on the menu this time around so just got their classic Document latte ($6.25) that's flavored with maple syrup. It was good but nothing really stood out for me? It did its job and we moved on with the rest of our plans for the day. Not really wow worthy but not bad! Ambience wise this place is more "cool hipster" than it is "warm and inviting". Was stopping by the area and saw this place on Google Maps. I was pleasantly surprised.. it did not disappoint! I ordered an iced Document latte with oat milk. I usually go for an iced vanilla latte, but decided to try this one since it's flavored with maple syrup. Wow, it did not disappoint! The coffee tasted really high quality, and the sweetness from the syrup gave it such a nice touch with every sip. I haven't been finishing my drinks lately, but this is the first one in a while I did... it was THAT good! Just -1 star because the ambiance isn't really for me. It didn't really feel that cozy or friendly. I came on a Friday a little after 11 am and had no problem finding a stool to sit at. I did journal for a bit but ended up leaving after about 30 minutes. Not a bad spot, not a great one either. I met my buddy here to catch up and the biggest win was the free, easy parking in Koreatown. Coming from the Valley, that was huge. My iced matcha was underwhelming, but my coffee-nerd friend loved his Nicaraguan pour-over. So the coffee itself seems solid if that's your thing. The vibe is where it fell short for me. The space is smaller and darker than expected and the outdoor seating is basically a view of the parking lot with cars constantly coming and going. The portraits on the wall are cool, but my friend said they haven't changed them for ages, so they've lost their appeal to him. Document Coffee Bar looks cooler in photos than it feels in person. I've truly never experienced anything like this in my life at a coffee shop. I ordered a vanilla latte to-go with no ice, and the staff mentioned it might be "a bit less," so I said okay. But I never imagined it would be this little. The cup was almost half empty. The photo shows exactly what I received. Yes, it was no ice, but that should not mean the drink is drastically reduced while still charging full price. I've had plenty of no-ice drinks at many cafés and nowhere has ever served something this small. There was no clear explanation about how little it would actually be, and they didn't make any effort to fix it either. Instead of enjoying my coffee, I just left annoyed and disappointed. We like their Document selection of specialty coffee, but usually get the Oaxacan Chocolate and Nurungji+Espresso coffees. Highly recommend these two! Both were smooth and creamy, but the coffee wasn't anything to rave about--it tasted a little watered down, or the flavor just wasn't as bold as those from other cafes I frequent. The muffin was alright. Parking options include non-valet lot or street. There is a restroom and both indoor and outdoor seating. Document Coffee Bar, taking coffee to an artisanal coffee experience that most only read about on Reddit or coffee forums, Document actually makes it a reality and lets you sample and try what you only read about on internet threads. It's quite something else and I was extremely pleased with my carefully crafted pour over. As you watch your coffee being carefully made, first by measuring out the coffee, then by measuring the water, then by artfully pouring, you kind of get excited about watching what you're going to soon be enjoying. And the coffee? It was good. It was very, very good. While my wife's hojicha strawberry latte was quite good, the pastry was very tasty, the pour over offered at Document stole the show for me. Private parking lot in the back. Small coffee store with some seats, but very artistic and artisanal vibe, not a place to really get work done, but definitely possible. Great coffee. Grateful that DOCUMENT COFFEE BAR is open so early on a Saturday morning. Another pro for coming early is that you can find parking on the street. They have a lot too with access to the rear of the shop, but I only found this when I went snooping around. And you should snoop around. They have a photography exhibit in their entire shop and it was beautiful. More than that, their espresso drinks are delicious. FLAT WHITE was super strong and creamy, chocolatey and not fruity. I'll start off with what most people go to coffee shops for; the drinks! I loved my cappuccino, I got it with almond milk which was only a .50 cent charge in comparison to .75 cents or a full dollar in other cafes. The coffee was bold and the foam was creamy as most cappuccinos are, but it was literally the perfect balance. They also have such a variety of bread, I was shocked with how many there were! If I ever come back to this coffee shop, I would definitely try one of them. I would rate the drinks themselves 5 stars :). I would not walk in here expecting to get work done, however. This cafe is mostly to hang out and drink your coffee. Aside from there being no WiFi, there is also no readily available outlets. The stools are also not the best for getting stuff done comfortably. I will say, the tables have compartments to put your bag or sweater, so if you want to do something that doesn't require WiFi, this could work. The only other negative is that the music is a little loud if you want to study. Aside from that, something I do appreciate about Document is their small marketplace with various locally owned brands. One clear advantage of this place, especially for Koreatown, is the relatively spacious parking. The interior is very aesthetic and the overall atmosphere is pleasant and well designed. Unfortunately, the coffee did not meet the same standard. One of the signature drinks was not properly mixed, with noticeable powder residue throughout the cup, so I did not finish it. The other two coffees my friends ordered had a strong, almost over extracted impression on the first sip, followed by a lingering bitterness. It did not feel particularly balanced or clean. The inside was clean, there were narrow tables made for people to sit for a quick coffee but not to get comfortable by any means.
