Service was top notch! Even with how busy it was they were pumping out food left and right. There was only one barista and she was working over time! Greeted nicely and food arrived at a good time! Service was 5/5! The whole place felt very authentic, even the Japanese bidet in the bathroom! Smoked salmon and pancakes- really good all around. The pancakes were airy and fluffy, slightly sweet and just very well done! The salmon came with a good portion and very fresh. Salad and avocado were good as well. The hollandaise sauce was different. Don't expect the heavy American version, this was light. Not as savory but still complementary to the pancakes and sunny side up egg. The price as well was very reasonable, especially for LA! Choco banana matcha- this was fine. Definitely overpriced but in my opinion not worth it. I think a fresh brew or straight matcha might be better. Overall I would recommend coming here and experiencing everything. Excited to try the omu rice next as it was my fav meal in Japan.
Went here to try their omurice and pancakes. Omurice and Hamburg steak were great and flavorful. Their matcha and cold brew drinks were also good. We tried their beef bentos which weren't as impressive. However, the omurice and fluffy pancakes are definitely worth trying as well as the drinks. The wait is not terrible, but they're usually fairly busy. The shop is small so that also adds to wait time. We also went a second time to try some other items with another friend. Though the initial experience was much better. Still worthwhile spot to try!
I came by yesterday during the LA rain. Hehe what timing huh? That didn't stop anyone else from visiting this cafe either. It was a 40 minute wait but I actually waited about 55 for a party of 2 There's indoor & outdoor seating that is covered by a patio roof. I ended up sitting outside, which is the typical you're REALLY close to the tables next to you. I felt like I was on a group date hehe. ;) don't mind me listening to about how Brad is a total jerk.... (Satire) I ordered the savory pancakes with bacon & egg with NO hollandaise sauce. I'm sorry but I can not stand hollandaise sauce. It's not my cup of tea. I REALLY like this plate. I was not going after the sweets. I prefer savory... BUT the pancake is made with sugar cause they are sweet. I was able to experience a salty and sweet combo. The bacon strips were thick, really fatty. So I had to trim the fat off. The egg salad hiding between the pancakes was really good-- I never have egg salad and was impressed with it. The salad was greens like arugula, the salad dressing was top notch. I enjoyed it. It gave off sesame vibes. Overall, I really enjoyed my plate. I would come back and order it. I ordered a hibiscus tea which has 0 sugar, and I LOVED it. I don't like sugary drinks so I really liked that this had no sugar. It was super watered down so it's not tart tasting by any means. Service LAGGED. This is where I dubbed the stars. They were quick to get our order and after that the waitress disappeared. It took a random worker who was sitting with the table next to us to check us out? Like what??? She literally said "are you guys trying to check out?" And had the little square machine or whatever it is to pay. Super weird. She wasn't on the clock? No idea. But yeah ... we were never checked up on if we wanted to order something else or to get our check. Parking is metered on the street so good luck! Restroom is inside. Small place for sure.
First, parking can be tough because it's street, and this spot is busy for brunch. When you arrive, there's a tablet inside to put your name/number/seating preference down. We waited, sitting in the seating area, for about 10 minutes before they called our name and seated us at the bar/counter area. Honestly, I was expecting a longer wait, so this wasn't bad at all! They have you order the pancakes first (because they tend to take longer to make), so we ordered the morning pancake set with 2 pancakes, 2 slices of thick-cut bacon, egg salad, and iced original coffee ($18), along with an additional side of hash browns ($3). We then ordered the omelette rice with 1/2 hamburger steak. Now, for the food: -pancakes: soft, fluffy texture, but definitely would have been better with cream and fruit! Will need to get it that way next time. -hash browns: perfectly as the triangle ones should be -salad: simple, but nice with sesame dressing -egg salad: a nice, little scoop of classic Japanese egg salad -thick-cut bacon: my partner loved this. He thought it was tender and tasty. -omelette rice: tomatoey rice with mushrooms and small bits of that bacon, tucked into a fluffy blanket of egg. Solid and filling. -hamburger steak: tender and flavorful! -original coffee: can't really speak to this because I prefer espresso-based drinks. Overall, so glad we tried out this spot! The food was tasty, for sure. The only thing that might stop me from visiting more might be that it didn't really feel air-conditioned...
This tiny place is sooo busy!!! Waited for a good 30 min. The food was pretty great though! The fluffy pancakes were pretty good. They were airy and fluffy, they weren't overly sweet! I got a bento box. It was the beef the teriyaki beef. I believe it came with a little salad. It came with the rice and it came with a miso soup. Honestly, everything that we got was really, really good and the service for being super busy was really good as well.
Such a fun experience! It's everything you might have seen on the viral videos. Incredibly fluffy pancakes that are also light but filling. There are so many toppings to try with the pancakes and the options just elevate the experience! They also offer some standard Japanese rice plates and karaage which they serve with solid execution. Obviously not what I'd come for, but I'm glad they're well-versed in a few other dishes in case people aren't feeling pancakes. The place has so many seating arrangements that they can accommodate a variety of people and party sizes. Only con is the parking and the wait. If you come on unconventional days or holidays, the experience may be better. Street parking becomes more available and some parking might be free. If you visit during rush hour... well, good luck! Even during non-peak hours, there's still a chance you'll have to wait about 30-45 min. Thankfully that wait is not TOO long compared to the 2-3 hour wait lines during peak, and 3rd street is very walkable. There are lots of store to window shop or some coffee shops that might be a great place to kill some time.
OMG. Love this place! I usually cannot handle a sweet breakfast but the pancakes here are so soft and bouncy. The fruits were picked out perfectly. My new obsession are those pancakes! Got a side of eggs and bacon and those were amazing as well. Bacon is thicccccc and eggs were soft as well with a good amount of flavor. Service was awesome and the ambiance is beautiful inside
Takagi Coffee is that rare spot that actually feels like a pause. Came for coffee, stayed because everything on the menu looks like it was made for the photo and then tastes better than the photo. Hot drip coffee on a wood tray with Biscoff. Iced coffee latte with coffee jelly and whipped cream piped in front of you with a mint on top. Kale salad with karage chicken -- actually filling, we cleaned it. The berries soufflé pancakes that I see on every other table are ridiculous were amazing. Bright counter, calm, worth the stop. Coming back。
Takagi Coffee's iced latte is a winner. It's smooth and balanced, with a clean espresso flavor that isn't bitter and just the right amount of creaminess. You can tell the beans and milk are good quality. The space is stylish and calm, with a bright, minimal look that makes it easy to settle in. Easily one of my favorite spots for an iced latte on West 3rd.
What a lovely Japanese dessert and food cafe. The interior design is classy and fun. The presentations of their popular items definitely catch everyone's attention upon walking in. Not many seats and they are pretty busy. We ended up carrying out because there were only bar seats and it's way TOO HOT inside! Just for waiting our order, we were sweating out. The staff are nice and patient, the menu comes with vivid pictures and easy for the customers to select. The pancake tacos are amazing!! You get to pick 3 flavors. It's like soufflé pancakes wrap up as a taco with your choices of toppings. Must order. So moist, fluffy and delicious.
I came on a weekday during brunch hours. There was one other large party here besides myself, which made for a spacious and somewhat quiet setting. I ordered the matcha latte with kuromitsu syrup and kinako powder. This was aromatic without the bitterness. And through some form of wizardy, you don't get an ounce of matcha powder sinking to the bottom. In other matcha places (or when I make it at home), you always get a thick layer of matcha powder on the bottom of the glass. I also ordered the matcha pancakes, which are the signature Japanese souffle pancakes. This comes with a thick layer of matcha cream, which wasn't too sweet and something that was truly desirable, and this is coming from someone who finds more decadent heavy desserts repulsive. I also had the chicken katsu, which came with miso soup, rice, and salad. I think the chicken katsu here had the perfect crunch and the sauce / rice that came with it was delicious. The miso soup was also quite tasty. Word of advice from the server was to purchase the combination, which allowed me to get everything I wanted for steep discount in comparison to buying everything aforementioned individually. One downside was that only street parking is available.
The pancakes..... that's all. Lol Cute little spot and they are so much more than coffee. Their matcha is delicious as well as their foods. We got the breakfast platter that comes with your choice of side/protein and pancakes. O. M. G. The pancakes. So fluffy and so eggy. My fave. I'm so sad that they are so far from where I live. Will try to go back again soon. Loved the ambiance and their impeccable service.
Overdue review - I love Takagi!! I've come here a couple of times and every single time I've been blown away by the quality of food. Ordering the pancakes are a no brainer - they are light, fluffy, and jiggly in all the right ways. I've tried the Matcha, Fruit, and Mango pancakes and they are all amazing. I don't have a favorite because they are all so tasty. I also recently tried the Japanese Style Mushroom & Bacon Noodles and I can't wait to go back soon and order them again. The bacon was sliced in fatty little chunks and complemented the mushrooms and noodles. I highly recommend this dish. Parking here is all street parking and can be difficult especially on the weekends. Also be aware that they recently blew up on viral social media videos and it has caused their waits to be extra long and unpredictable. When I came they told me and my party 45 mins and it took 2.5 hours...I was with a friend from out of town so we waited cause I wanted them to try Takagi but the extra long wait was really annoying.

The food was absolutely delicious and their service was fast and kind. Honestly would love to come again. The ambience is also very relaxing haha. It was the perfect choice to take my partner to celebrate for their achievements. I will be coming back forsure! read more

Took my college friend to this place, and it did not disappoint! She kept saying, "Another place to take my boyfriend!" We had the hamburger steak, and I told her to get the chicken cutlet instead of the pork. She loved it! The chicken was crispy, juicy, and nicely seasoned. We also got the hibiscus tea, which isn't your typical tea because it has a refreshing hint of mint. For the finale--and the reason I keep coming back--we had what I call the fluffy pancakes! They were airy and fluffy but still had some weight to them, holding all that delicious flavor. They paired perfectly with the ice cream and berry cream between the pancakes. It just tasted soooo good! P.S. Street parking is available! read more
We tried Takagi Coffee for the first time based on our son's recommendation and we loved everything about this place! I really liked the decor and the cozy atmosphere. Our son had explained the menu to us ahead of time so we already had a pretty good idea of what we wanted to order. But first, the drinks! I got the Coffee in Jelly. Coffee jelly has been one of my favorites since childhood, so of course I had to try it. The coffee jelly comes in an iced latte and I loved it! My son got the Mango Smoothie and my husband tried two different kinds of coffee. Everything was really good. The coffee especially tasted like something you would get in Japan. For the food, we ordered two lunch special sets, the Omelet Rice and Hamburger Steak and upgraded one of them to include four pancakes so the three of us could share. They had limited-time Yuzu Cream Pancakes, so we chose those. Everything made me feel like I was back in Japan! We enjoyed every single thing we ordered and the two lunch sets with the upgraded pancakes were more than enough to fill the three of us up. We went during the week so finding parking wasn't difficult. Although, we parked pretty far away and then discovered there was an open spot right in front of the restaurant when we walked up... We had such a good time at Takagi Coffee and will definitely be back the next time we visit LA! read more

We were so excited to try this restaurant because of the videos I was seeing on Instagram about their soufflé pancakes. The pancakes did not disappoint! They are fluffy and flavorful, but they are HUGE! Their size is not a bad thing, but we were stuffed. They do have a great weekday special where you get a drink, an entree and a choice of their pancakes or for an up charge, you can select one of their sweet soufflé pancake offerings. This is a great deal, but definitely very filling. I'm still stuffed hours later, but so satisfied and happy. I also ordered an iced strawberry matcha, which is also fantastic. I love the bits keep fresh strawberry that sneak up the straw every so often. We cannot wait to visit this place again. The servers were also very friendly and attentive. read more

Always a must-stop whenever we're in town! We absolutely love their fluffy pancakes. This time they had a special that came with an entrée, pancakes, and coffee such a great deal and everything was delicious. Street parking wasn't an issue for us either. Food was beautiful and even more delicious than I expected. The lightness of the soufflé pancakes makes them so hard to stop eating! They're like little clouds. Bacon was unstoppable and hash browns weren't bad. read more
Finally got a chance to come out to Takagi. Nice rainy day, a rarity for Labor Day weekend, but it added to the food's atmosphere. It's a moderate sized space, lot of tables for 2 or 4. I'd say, while possible, it might be difficult for parties bigger than 4 people. All staff very friendly and attentive. They have a yelp waitlist, I think we ended up waiting about 40 min. Decided to get the pork katsu sandwich and the classic soufflé pancake (millefeuile). Both were excellent! Katsu sandwich packed a lot of flavor, pork well fried and crunchy. Bread held it all together nicely. Honestly haven't thought any soufflé pancakes outside of Japan have lived up to our expectations, having had it in Japan so many times. Takagi definitely is the best and most authentic we've had in SoCal! They're big! Honestly could have gotten the 2 stack and been fine. Like most pancakes, they do take some time to make. Found a parking spot on street a block up so that was a bonus as parking in the area can be tricky. read more
I love soufflé pancakes and the ones here at Takagi Coffee did not disappoint! Straight from Japan, the brand makes some of the best ones I've had! So fluffy, airy and light. I tried a savory and a sweet version and enjoyed both. If you're missing Japan or just love pancakes, this might be your next spot to check out! Service was quick and super friendly, the interior is cute too. There's also some outdoor seating if you prefer eating outside. Parking would have to be the downside of this cafe, it's hard to find parking on weekends. But the food made up for it for me! read more
Yesterday (6/6/2026, Saturday), even though it was Saturday, I got up very early in the morning, got ready, and went out with my family for a family breakfast. We went to Takagi. The first time we visited was on Sunday, May 11th of last year. My mom had some medical tests done that morning and was very hungry afterward, so I suggested we go there. However, the wait was over an hour. While we were waiting, we went next door to Bluestone Lane for pancakes and coffee and then we came back to Takagi for their soufflé pancakes. The soufflé pancakes were so good that the place left a lasting impression on us. The soufflé pancakes are incredibly fluffy, soft, and delicious. When you order coffee, it comes with crackers on the side, and both the coffee and the crackers are excellent. Last year, we tried several different soufflé pancake flavors, including mango and strawberry. They were good, but a little too sweet for my taste. I remembered that the Original Soufflé Pancake was my favorite, so yesterday all five members of my family ordered the Original Soufflé Pancake. This time, however, I noticed a new menu item that wasn't there before. Until 11:00 AM, they offered a Morning Combo that included either 2 or 4 pancakes, plus salad, eggs, and coffee. I wanted to try it, so I ordered the combo, and it turned out to be very good. Another thing I liked was their coffee selection. They offer a variety of coffee beans, including Colombian and Ethiopian coffee, so you can enjoy different flavors and aromas. However, after paying and receiving the receipt, I noticed something that disappointed me. The restaurant accepts cards only and automatically adds a 3% credit card processing fee. I mentioned this in the chat room that I run, and one of my close friends told me that some credit card companies may reimburse those fees if you call them. What? Should I call my credit card company for three dollars? I would have rather deducted it from the tip. But by then, I had already calculated and paid a 20% tip. P.S. #1: The next time when my mom is craving soufflé pancakes, I want to try a soufflé pancake restaurant in West Hollywood. We were actually thinking about going there yesterday, but there happened to be a parade in the area. A few years ago, I accidentally went there during a parade without knowing about it, and all the streets were blocked off. It was such a hassle that yesterday we decided to avoid the area altogether. We came here to try out their pancakes and cutlet. We ordered the matcha pancakes, karaage and pork cutlet. We all liked it. Yeh coffee parfait was good too. Besides the fresh fruit and the flakes, they also added pancaly as toppings. We arrived at around 2:30PM and waited for about 30 minutes. We didn't realize that they were offering happy hour prices I. Their wines ($4.50, regular price is $9.50). Their outdoor seating allows dogs." I've always wanted to try Japanese soufflé pancakes and I came across this in IG and looked up their location. I went here for the first time last Saturday as I have a facial appointment nearby at 11 so I thought it'll be good to grab a solo breakfast here before I head over to my appointment. First off, you'll have to find street parking in this neighborhood. I found street parking right away. There was already about 6 ahead of me and I got there at 10, got seated 10 mins later but it was at the bar, tucked away in the corner. I saw the girl next to me ate only half on the 2 soufflés so I decided to just order the 2 soufflé pancakes and a side of half omelette. Also wanted to taste their coffee so I got the Tanaka light with half and half. The menu has a lot of choices but I want to get the basic so I get to taste it on its own without adding any other toppings. My half omelette came first after 15 mins and then I had to follow up on the coffee which I got 5mins later. So finally I got the pancakes after 10 more mins, so it seems that it takes about 30 mins to make or they were just incredibly busy. I can say that it was worth the wait. I got it with butter topping so I got 2 butters and I didn't need the syrup because it stands well on its own. The eggs were cooked to my liking and the coffee is perfectly balanced. Place has a nice minimalist decor and busy atmosphere. If you don't mind the wait it's worth a try. Between the waiting and getting the food and eating up to payment it took a full hour, barely made it to my appointment but I don't mind. This was our first time in this establishment. We arrived early so there was no wait, we sat immediately and placed orders for sweet and savory pancakes The drinks were very sweet, we wish we knew, we could have ordered with less sugar . Everything else was so delicious. The decoration was very pretty and the ambiance was quiet. You could enjoy a nice conversation without loud music. The servers and the manager were very nice. Been wanting to try these fluffy pancakes for a while. These specialty millefeuille pancakes are from Japan and this is the first spot I know of in LA that offers them on their menu. So many good flavors to choose from...we got the banana chocolate, strawberry mixed berry, and mango. All were unique and great. We also tried the savory omelette rice with chicken karaage for balance. The service was fast and friendly, but we went on a weekday so not crowded. I would image much longer wait times in a weekend. Overall a pretty cute place. Parking can be annoying though as there is only metered street parking and restricted residential streets. read more

Got there around 10:50 and waited around 40minutes to be seated (they go pretty fast). I ordered the Strawberry & Mixed Berry pancakes and also tried the Mango ones. I've had fluffy pancakes in Japan before so I'd have to say this is as close as i got to the same type of pancakes, they were amazing! Their Mango Matcha was by far the best Matcha I've had in my life!!!! We were able to sit outside which i preferred rather to inside as it was a nice day. You do sit pretty close to people outside and it can get loud with other peoples conversations but didn't mind it. read more
This place is so cute!! It's very trendy & bright. We came in to try their matcha, but they also serve a food and it looks Amazing! We will have to come back to try the food out. The matcha was absolutely delicious. I ordered the matcha (hot) with whole milk. It was soooo good bold, but smooth and a little sweet. My daughter ordered the Osmanthus tea and she said it was tasty and steep to perfection If you're in the area, you have to give this place a try. It has many to coffee, tea, and food. I debated leaving this review for a bit, but decided it was probably good to know for other visitors. We came to try this place and were sat decently quickly. They took our order and started bringing things out. Everything was good. I received my pork sandwich and it was also very good. Unfortunately, when I got to the last portion of my sandwich, I noticed a fried fly. It was actually crispy looking. There were also numerous flies around us while eating (inside, towards the back), but didn't think much of it. I brought it up to the waitress, and said, I'm sorry but I just noticed theres a dead fly on my sandwich. She looked horrified and said, "oh my god that's so gross". Then took it and said she'd find out what they can do. She returned said, ok I talked to them and they can either remake it or comp that plate. I said I didn't really want another one at that point. It was just not appetizing. Later when I went to pay the bill they had taken 50% off that one plate. That really didn't feel right to me. So I asked the other waiter/manager, and he said, "yeah, thats because you had eaten half the sandwich already". I was a bit baffled, and said "yeah but I didn't know the fly was there." I would not have eaten a single bite of it if I had noticed it there in the beginning. He tried to say again, "yeah it's just that you ate half of it." So l just said yeah I just really don't feel good about that, is there any way you could just take that plate off? He did. But having to go through that, felt really inappropriate. I could totally justify 50% if it was me just saying I didn't like it half way through. But it was not reasonable to argue over it when there was a fly that came on the sandwich to begin with. I tried to write to them directly, before leaving a review, but they never wrote back. It's a bummer, I don't see how I could ever come back after that experience. I still paid everything else we ate and tipped because the waitress was very nice to us. The other food was good, but this experience just totally ruined it. I could probably had given another future chance without much thought if they didn't handle it so poorly. Just felt bummed, this was for my birthday on a list of places I wanted to try. read more
Tatagi Coffee is a beautiful spot with a cozy but open concept and fantastic natural lighting. We were seated right away by a very welcoming host, and the view of the hills provides a perfect backdrop for a relaxed meal. The food was the absolute highlight. The Japanese-style mille-feuille pancakes have a unique melt-in-your-mouth texture that is really hard to find elsewhere; they are incredibly light and airy. I also noted but didn't yet try the omurice and tonkatsu, which are solid Japanese mainstays. We did have a small hiccup with the order; the ice cream for my kid was missed, and there was some confusion with the server when trying to correct the bill. However, the rest of the staff was so friendly and the quality of the pancakes was so high that it didn't ruin the experience. I went to the cafe around 3:00pm yesterday and it is a perfect place for grabbing easy snacks as fluffy pancakes and matcha We ordered the special set with one entree, drink and dessert The omelette rice paring with fried chicken was really really delicious and even my friend who rarely to have carbohydrates and he loved it We also ordered the hamburger steak but we felt the mashed potato was not our favorite because it didn't taste fresh The service is really good I highly recommended their fluffy pancakes and matcha latte The package is so airy and light and the matcha latte is very authentic and they match perfectly The whole cafe is very relaxing with Japanese vibe Parking is easy to find at street ( not rush hour ) read more

I went there for Sunday lunch. Short time waiting and service was great! I was expecting chicken nanban on the menu but it was not on the menu. Also only a few pasta selections. Unique place by the Grove for fantastic, single origin coffee and good brunch. Really friendly service and a comfortable atmosphere made it easy to enjoy. The wait for three on a Sunday morning at 9 was an hour so forget the 10-15 minute thing. They don't have many tables but it was worth the wait. The millefeuille pancakes were great. Fluffy and sweet without any syrup. Truly unique. They're not Du-pars good, but definitely worth a try. Good thick cut bacon. Eggs were fluffy and well seasoned. Can't say I'd run back here, but I'd definitely come again. read more
I mean, I understand that some people think that this is not a great place but this place is great. I think if you actually have been to the original which I have, this is authentic as it gets and this stuff we had a savory, which is actually one of my favorites and a sweet one, which I forgot to take a picture of and the rice omelette, which I also forgot to take a picture of the rice omelette is a very unique flavor. If you're not open to try things, don't get it if you're open to try things that are delicious. It's great. I love the savory pancakes. I love the sweet pancakes. We got the ones with the berries and the whipped cream even if you just go plain well worth it it's probably good if you don't order too much food because even though the pancakes are light, eventually, it starts adding up in your belly, but I would recommend this place 100% their coffees are fire which everybody knows but yes if you're expecting something outside, it would've supposed to taste like then you may be disappointed, but these are authentic and what they actually should be. read more

I think the rice omelette is gluten free. I'm not sure about the sauce but it seemed fairly gluten free
Do they have any vegan food?
They offer a tofu salad, avocado toast, and their Japanese vegetable pasta may be vegan.
Are you guys dog friendly?
They allow dogs for patio-seating eating, but not in the restaurant (unless service dog I believe).
