I came on a weekday during brunch hours. There was one other large party here besides myself, which made for a spacious and somewhat quiet setting. I ordered the matcha latte with kuromitsu syrup and kinako powder. This was aromatic without the bitterness. And through some form of wizardy, you don't get an ounce of matcha powder sinking to the bottom. In other matcha places (or when I make it at home), you always get a thick layer of matcha powder on the bottom of the glass. I also ordered the matcha pancakes, which are the signature Japanese souffle pancakes. This comes with a thick layer of matcha cream, which wasn't too sweet and something that was truly desirable, and this is coming from someone who finds more decadent heavy desserts repulsive. I also had the chicken katsu, which came with miso soup, rice, and salad. I think the chicken katsu here had the perfect crunch and the sauce / rice that came with it was delicious. The miso soup was also quite tasty. Word of advice from the server was to purchase the combination, which allowed me to get everything I wanted for steep discount in comparison to buying everything aforementioned individually. One downside was that only street parking is available.

Overdue review - I love Takagi!! I've come here a couple of times and every single time I've been blown away by the quality of food. Ordering the pancakes are a no brainer - they are light, fluffy, and jiggly in all the right ways. I've tried the Matcha, Fruit, and Mango pancakes and they are all amazing. I don't have a favorite because they are all so tasty. I also recently tried the Japanese Style Mushroom & Bacon Noodles and I can't wait to go back soon and order them again. The bacon was sliced in fatty little chunks and complemented the mushrooms and noodles. I highly recommend this dish. Parking here is all street parking and can be difficult especially on the weekends. Also be aware that they recently blew up on viral social media videos and it has caused their waits to be extra long and unpredictable. When I came they told me and my party 45 mins and it took 2.5 hours...I was with a friend from out of town so we waited cause I wanted them to try Takagi but the extra long wait was really annoying.

The pancakes..... that's all. Lol Cute little spot and they are so much more than coffee. Their matcha is delicious as well as their foods. We got the breakfast platter that comes with your choice of side/protein and pancakes. O. M. G. The pancakes. So fluffy and so eggy. My fave. I'm so sad that they are so far from where I live. Will try to go back again soon. Loved the ambiance and their impeccable service.

We were so excited to try this restaurant because of the videos I was seeing on Instagram about their soufflé pancakes. The pancakes did not disappoint! They are fluffy and flavorful, but they are HUGE! Their size is not a bad thing, but we were stuffed. They do have a great weekday special where you get a drink, an entree and a choice of their pancakes or for an up charge, you can select one of their sweet soufflé pancake offerings. This is a great deal, but definitely very filling. I'm still stuffed hours later, but so satisfied and happy. I also ordered an iced strawberry matcha, which is also fantastic. I love the bits keep fresh strawberry that sneak up the straw every so often. We cannot wait to visit this place again. The servers were also very friendly and attentive.

Been wanting to try these fluffy pancakes for a while. These specialty millefeuille pancakes are from Japan and this is the first spot I know of in LA that offers them on their menu. So many good flavors to choose from...we got the banana chocolate, strawberry mixed berry, and mango. All were unique and great. We also tried the savory omelette rice with chicken karaage for balance. The service was fast and friendly, but we went on a weekday so not crowded. I would image much longer wait times in a weekend. Overall a pretty cute place. Parking can be annoying though as there is only metered street parking and restricted residential streets.

I love soufflé pancakes and the ones here at Takagi Coffee did not disappoint! Straight from Japan, the brand makes some of the best ones I've had! So fluffy, airy and light. I tried a savory and a sweet version and enjoyed both. If you're missing Japan or just love pancakes, this might be your next spot to check out! Service was quick and super friendly, the interior is cute too. There's also some outdoor seating if you prefer eating outside. Parking would have to be the downside of this cafe, it's hard to find parking on weekends. But the food made up for it for me!

I went there for Sunday lunch. Short time waiting and service was great! I was expecting chicken nanban on the menu but it was not on the menu. Also only a few pasta selections. I had hamburg steak which was great. But potato salad was kind of questionable, taste was kind of old. Next time I wanna try pancakes. Note: Parking is challenging!

Yesterday (6/6/2026, Saturday), even though it was Saturday, I got up very early in the morning, got ready, and went out with my family for a family breakfast. We went to Takagi. The first time we visited was on Sunday, May 11th of last year. My mom had some medical tests done that morning and was very hungry afterward, so I suggested we go there. However, the wait was over an hour. While we were waiting, we went next door to Bluestone Lane for pancakes and coffee and then we came back to Takagi for their soufflé pancakes. The soufflé pancakes were so good that the place left a lasting impression on us. The soufflé pancakes are incredibly fluffy, soft, and delicious. When you order coffee, it comes with crackers on the side, and both the coffee and the crackers are excellent. Last year, we tried several different soufflé pancake flavors, including mango and strawberry. They were good, but a little too sweet for my taste. I remembered that the Original Soufflé Pancake was my favorite, so yesterday all five members of my family ordered the Original Soufflé Pancake. This time, however, I noticed a new menu item that wasn't there before. Until 11:00 AM, they offered a Morning Combo that included either 2 or 4 pancakes, plus salad, eggs, and coffee. I wanted to try it, so I ordered the combo, and it turned out to be very good. Another thing I liked was their coffee selection. They offer a variety of coffee beans, including Colombian and Ethiopian coffee, so you can enjoy different flavors and aromas. However, after paying and receiving the receipt, I noticed something that disappointed me. The restaurant accepts cards only and automatically adds a 3% credit card processing fee. I mentioned this in the chat room that I run, and one of my close friends told me that some credit card companies may reimburse those fees if you call them. What? Should I call my credit card company for three dollars? I would have rather deducted it from the tip. But by then, I had already calculated and paid a 20% tip. P.S. #1: The next time when my mom is craving soufflé pancakes, I want to try a soufflé pancake restaurant in West Hollywood. We were actually thinking about going there yesterday, but there happened to be a parade in the area. A few years ago, I accidentally went there during a parade without knowing about it, and all the streets were blocked off. It was such a hassle that yesterday we decided to avoid the area altogether. P.S. #2: Besides the mandatory 3% card processing fee, another downside is that they only have one restroom, even though the restaurant gets extremely crowded. P.S. #3: When we left, there was a huge crowd of people waiting outside. Even though we arrived very early, we still had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. If you go later in the day, waiting an hour is pretty normal. P.S. #4: When you arrive, you enter your name and cellphone number on a screen and wait for your turn. Yesterday, my brother entered his name and cellphone number for our party. P.S. #5: While I was trying to stand up and take a better picture of the food, I lost my balance and fell hard onto the floor. People sitting at the nearby tables immediately asked if I was okay, which I appreciated. Surprisingly, though, none of the servers checked on me or asked if I was okay.

We came here to try out their pancakes and cutlet. We ordered the matcha pancakes, karaage and pork cutlet. We all liked it. Yeh coffee parfait was good too. Besides the fresh fruit and the flakes, they also added pancaly as toppings. We arrived at around 2:30PM and waited for about 30 minutes. We didn't realize that they were offering happy hour prices I. Their wines ($4.50, regular price is $9.50). Their outdoor seating allows dogs." But the only caveat is that they don't have alcohol permit so we asked to be moved inside to order the wine. Overall, it's a solid place and we will definitely come back. We've yet to try their strawberry parfait, pastas and chicken cutlet.

I've always wanted to try Japanese soufflé pancakes and I came across this in IG and looked up their location. I went here for the first time last Saturday as I have a facial appointment nearby at 11 so I thought it'll be good to grab a solo breakfast here before I head over to my appointment. First off, you'll have to find street parking in this neighborhood. I found street parking right away. There was already about 6 ahead of me and I got there at 10, got seated 10 mins later but it was at the bar, tucked away in the corner. I saw the girl next to me ate only half on the 2 soufflés so I decided to just order the 2 soufflé pancakes and a side of half omelette. Also wanted to taste their coffee so I got the Tanaka light with half and half. The menu has a lot of choices but I want to get the basic so I get to taste it on its own without adding any other toppings. My half omelette came first after 15 mins and then I had to follow up on the coffee which I got 5mins later. So finally I got the pancakes after 10 more mins, so it seems that it takes about 30 mins to make or they were just incredibly busy. I can say that it was worth the wait. I got it with butter topping so I got 2 butters and I didn't need the syrup because it stands well on its own. The eggs were cooked to my liking and the coffee is perfectly balanced. Place has a nice minimalist decor and busy atmosphere. If you don't mind the wait it's worth a try. Between the waiting and getting the food and eating up to payment it took a full hour, barely made it to my appointment but I don't mind. I was very happy and full - I felt bad for leaving a small slice behind .

This was our first time in this establishment. We arrived early so there was no wait, we sat immediately and placed orders for sweet and savory pancakes The drinks were very sweet, we wish we knew, we could have ordered with less sugar . Everything else was so delicious. The decoration was very pretty and the ambiance was quiet. You could enjoy a nice conversation without loud music. The servers and the manager were very nice. Overall, we had a good experience and can't wait to bring my family

Stopped by last week for brunch and this place was amazing! My friends and I of course got some pancakes. I had the millefeuille and they had such an amazing texture and the side of cream was very delicious. I also had some fried chicken for some savory and they were great as well. My friends also had the fish sandwich and really enjoyed it. Service was super friendly and they place was super cute and chic inside. It was pretty crowded (Thursday at noon) as we had the last table inside but if we had to wait it would have totally been worth it. Can't wait to go back!

10/10 experience at Takagi. The food was delicious, along with the matcha. Service was great and super attentive. It was busy on the weekend, but they seated us without a reservation. Everything was good, but their pancakes are a must. I can highly recommend them!

Takagi Coffee Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Takagi Coffee

    Is the fried rice vegetarian?

They're very accommodating with food allergies/dietary needs. You may want to mention to the server upon ordering a vegetarian option for it.

Do they have any gluten free food options?

I think the rice omelette is gluten free. I'm not sure about the sauce but it seemed fairly gluten free

Can reservation be made or is it walk-ins only?

walk-in only. min 2hrs wait time

Do they have any vegan food?

They offer a tofu salad, avocado toast, and their Japanese vegetable pasta may be vegan.

    Are you guys dog friendly?

They allow dogs for patio-seating eating, but not in the restaurant (unless service dog I believe).

I highly recommend timing your visit around sunset to fully enjoy the charming string lights and romantic ambiance they create. Unfortunately, a bug bit me while I was sitting at our picnic table, so next time I'll probably opt for indoor seating. I was craving a high-quality pizza, and this place absolutely hit the spot. I ordered the mushroom pizza, and it did not disappoint. I also tried the house radicchio salad, but it wasn't my favorite. The mix of herbs and greens came across as overly bitter, and I couldn't finish it. One thing to note: I requested tap water when placing our order but later noticed I had been charged for their bottled still water. After bringing it to their attention, they promptly removed the charge. Be sure to double-check your receipt. I'm happy with how quickly they fixed the mistake tho! Unfortunately, they don't offer mocktails, so I ordered an Arnold Palmer instead. It was a bit bland and lacked balance. My friend tried one of the aguas frescas and wasn't particularly impressed either. Would love to see a curated mocktail list on their menu soon! Despite those minor issues, I'd definitely return. I'm looking forward to coming back to try brunch and cappuccinos at their new Manhattan Beach location!

Our server was extremely attentive even through the busyness. My only qualm was the 20% large party charge on our bill despite us splitting our group, sitting on different tables, and getting two separate checks. First, their cafe de olla is absolutely delicious. This remains one of the only places where I genuinely enjoy ordering cafe de olla. Second, their food is incredible. They serve excellent portions, everything tastes fresh, and the food is just so good. I've had their taquitos and chilaquiles, and both were delicious. The only downside is that every time I've come, there has usually been a bit of a wait, especially because the restaurant itself is pretty small with limited seating. The inside is cute, but small, so we usually end up sitting outside. This is where their Monrovia location does have the advantage because it has much more space. Parking can also be tricky. Good luck finding a spot close enough where you don't have to walk far. We usually end up parking in the residential area around the corner. That said, the staff are wonderful and always try to be as accommodating as possible despite how busy they are. Highly recommend this place if you're okay with possibly waiting a bit for seating. My friend and I went into this Cafe De Olla on the 17th of this month at 2pm. She met me there and lives in Burbank. I have been here once, I believe back in 2018. It was pretty solid in every way. We were warmly greeted by Erick--the host, standing by the podium and right away he got us a seat inside. After like 5 minutes, Elsa, our server approached us to take our order. My friend and I both felt like we were being rushed through our meal. Food came out hot and quick. We opted for a few of their dishes. Tacos Mananeros, came with 4 tacos ($18.95), with 4 complimentary sauces. 2 of the sauces were very spicy and Elsa didn't warn us. We also got the Veggie Omelette with tomatoes, onions, spinach, mushrooms, Jack cheese, topped with avocado and a side order of hash browns. They made the hash browns perfectly. Told her nice and crispy on the top and that's what we got. (18.95). We also shared their French Toast topped with Strawberry, Blueberries, and Blackberries. ($16.95) topped with lots of Whipped Cream (which I love) and a side of syrup. We needed to add more syrup to make the French Toast more moist. The French Toast was a bit dry for our liking. Even the people sitting next to us who ordered the same thing were saying the same. On the flip side, the other 2 dishes tasted fresh and delicious. Great portions for the prices. We also got this drink called Powerful from their smoothies section of the menu. It was called Green Smoothie. Ingredients were the following: blueberries, honey, Greek Vanilla yogurt, avocado and Almond milk. It was simply very refreshing and delicious. My friend wanted some sort of Latte, Espresso, Americano, etc..but they didn't have any of those drinks. All they had was regular & decaf coffee. At first, I asked for Cranberry juice, and Jose, said they only had Apple and Orange juice. We found it a bit odd not to have any of those drinks. Going back to our server Elsa, she was a bit aloof and forgetful. I asked for a bowl of fruit, and it never made it to our table. After we were done eating, I asked for two to-go boxes and a bag, she forgot that too. We had to ask the other employees to get them for us. The same with to-go containers for our sauces. She forgot to bring napkins too. Jose, (our busboy), needs a raise and promotion! This young man read all the ingredients on the Taco menu which came with: bacon & egg, chorizo with potato & eggs, machaka/eggs, & nopaitos/eggs. The writing in their menu was very small. Another server by the name of Angel, truly was an angel. Checked on us while Elsa was taking orders over the phone. They have another location in Monrovia, a gender neutral restroom, place was very clean. Inside was small. It had 10 tables and nice couches with cozy, inspirational decor and pillows. Lovely music playing over head with a nice patio seating. Will I return? Yes, but not anytime soon! Also check for their business hours..
