Try having no service at your establishment. You can't get a bad service review if you have no waiters waiting tables... Think about it. Besides that. The coffees are good. The food is mediocre and some dishes have some fold with the...sugar. The overall vibe of the store is nice, but that's it pretty much. If you want to go to a full service restaurant and have to fill up your own waters, keep asking for extra chopsticks, forks, napkins etc and being Ignored most of the time by most waiters there then this is the place for you to go and to have a good time. I'll only mention one incident: I asked the waiter to please give me some water while I was eating (the water cups are super small) and his response was: "there's is a water station, do it yourself." I mean, I'd do it myself and I did do it myself, but then again, if I have to do it myself why would I go to a restaurant? I still tipped 20% cause I ain't no Karen. Tatagi Coffee is a beautiful spot with a cozy but open concept and fantastic natural lighting. We were seated right away by a very welcoming host, and the view of the hills provides a perfect backdrop for a relaxed meal. The food was the absolute highlight. The Japanese-style mille-feuille pancakes have a unique melt-in-your-mouth texture that is really hard to find elsewhere; they are incredibly light and airy. I also noted but didn't yet try the omurice and tonkatsu, which are solid Japanese mainstays. We did have a small hiccup with the order; the ice cream for my kid was missed, and there was some confusion with the server when trying to correct the bill. However, the rest of the staff was so friendly and the quality of the pancakes was so high that it didn't ruin the experience. We were in the area looking for a spot with breakfast and actually been wanting to try this place. Came here on a Saturday morning around 10am or so. There were only about 2 parties ahead of us around 10:30am or so. We waited for about 15 mins only. As you walk inside, nice modern feel with decorations nicely lit. I did start off with their Takagi Coffee Original blend and it came with a biscuit cookie as a side. Definitely complemented well with the coffee. Coffee had a nice aroma to it. Ordered their Pork Cutlet which came with miso and rice. Katsu curry was pretty good along with the nicely fried pork cutlet. One of the better ones I've had. I came around 9am on a Sat and luckily it wasn't too busy. The staff was really kind and attentive. As far as the food, the chicken karrage was really good and the brown sauce it came with was delish. We really enjoyed the Japanese pancake too. Immediately upon walking in my husband, son and I received such a warm greeting from the staff. Our server also greeted us with the kindest smile and she was so pleasant and attentive with us. We felt so welcomed and the restaurant is so cozy. I ordered the omelette rice and the Hojicha (japanese green tea) pancakes. The omelette with the Demi glacé was a perfect bite and the pancakes were so fluffy and had a great balance of flavor. What a nice and cozy restaurant. From the minute I walked in I felt so welcomed and comfortable. The staff were amazing! I of course had to try their Japanese pancakes. I ordered the strawberry pancake which came with fresh fruit (strawberries and blueberries), whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, chocolate drizzle and almond slivers. The pancakes were so light and fluffy. The presentation was beautiful. You can tell they take pride in making their dishes. The menu has a lot of great choices to pick from. Read on the infatuation list that the pancake has no jiggle lol but still saw people waiting in line during the rain during Christmas, so I just decided to give it a try. Let me say the pancake has quite a bit of jiggles! Pretty sure plenty of egg white is in the pancake so it's light and fluffy, but unlike soufflé pancake, this one lingers more in my mouth, which I like. Between chicken cutlet sandwich and burger steak I'd definitely go for the former. The chicken came out glitteringly fresh and juicy, coated with flavorful breadcrumb. It's hands down the best fried chicken sandwich I've had for a while. Potato wedges and burger steak I'm not a fan of, especially the burger steak. So my chat bot told me apparently this kind of burger steak usually has breadcrumbs so you get the mushier texture as opposed to a more meat feel patty. Coffee on the other hand is a worthy mention. I'm not an expert on coffee but I could tell that this coffee is something different. Can't say how, but you know Not much service to speak of. I'm not much of a pancake or coffee person, but I was sold when I heard a cafe that has souffle pancakes from Japan. Takagi coffee is a mix of yoshoku with an extensive coffee selection. I stopped by Takagi Coffee with my friend while we were in the area. We split an order of the strawberry mango, and pineapple paffles ($12). I got the iced coffee ($5) and then the katsu sandwich with wedges ($19.50). I'm not the biggest black coffee drinker, though occasionally I will entertain it. I really liked the coffee I got. It had a nice subtle sweetness and was really refreshing given the temperature outside. It was also served with a biscoff cookie, which I thought was a nice touch. The mango and strawberry paffles were light and refreshing. The fruit was also pretty fresh. I did find the pineapple to be a bit stale and not as juicy as the mango and strawberry ones. The katsu sando is not on milk bread which they specify on the menu. I thought it was alright and loved the wedges more. Though I thought it was quite expensive for what I got. Overall, it's a cute shop. The entrees are on the more expensive side, but I'd come back for the paffles! There are some areas with free street parking, but make sure to read the signs carefully. I was excited to finally try Takagi after hearing about the pancakes and seeing a packed restaurant every time I passed by. After going on a recent Sunday, I don't feel the need to go back. The pancakes are indeed as fluffy as advertised, but they aren't exceptional enough to justify the price. I tried the classic Millefeuille Pancakes, which are pretty good! They are definitely on the egg-y side as far as pancakes go, but super soft and yummy, and the butter, maple syrup, and whipped cream that come with it are delicious. I didn't leave any bites on the plate. I had wanted to try one of the flavored pancakes, but the prices are pretty insane and pretty much double from the classic ones. $17 for 2 pancakes with some berries is wild, especially when 4 of the classic ones are $13.50. I also tried the Takagi Original Blend coffee (iced) which was very good. It's definitely a quality coffee and you can tell that it's freshly roasted in house. Plus, the rest of the coffee menu is $6.50 and up, which makes $5.50 for a black coffee almost feel reasonable. All in all I'm glad I tried Takagi. The pancakes are tasty and the restaurant has a fun authentic feel to it, but it also seems like a place designed to be trendy (and expensive) so it'll go viral on Instagram. read more

They have Yelp check in and can get busy but we were able to get seated. Parking on the street; just read the signs and meters. The flavor of the pancakes was absolutely incredible, the Matcha Azaki being the clear winner of the 2. The lattes were also great, probably the best matcha latte I've ever had.
