UNDOUBTEDLY one of the best breakfast spots in my humble opinion. Not sure why this is spot is called Doubting Thomas but it would be more appropriately named "Undoubtedly Amazing". The menu is legit. It has a nice assortment of traditional breakfast plates along with more modern items like the lomo saltado bowl--my favorite! Do not skip out on the carrot cake. Ugh. So good. Doubting Thomas absolutely lived up to the hype. Of course I had to order the passion fruit pie, and it did not disappoint. It was creamy, tangy, and the perfect way to end the meal. For my main, I got the chicken katsu bowl. The katsu sauce is peanut based, which added a unique twist, and when I asked for hot sauce, they brought out one that was absolutely incredible. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while staying moist and tender inside. Even the rice and salad that came with the bowl were flavorful and clearly made with care. My boyfriend ordered the pastrami burrito, which he loved, along with a vanilla cold brew. Both were gone in no time. Great food, great flavors, and plenty of menu items I'd come back to try. Passion Fruit Pie -really good, if you love tart this would be up your alley. Fresh passion fruit topped helps balance the sweetness of the pie. Almond Croissant (White Chocolate Strawberry Garnish)- seems like their croissant flavor rotates. Wasn't expecting the filling to also be strawberry, would have loved the filling to be almond. Croissant is more of a flaky dense bread texture not buttery fluffy pastry. Not the best I've had. Chocolate Chip Oat Cookie -amazing cookie, love a good oat cookie without raisins. This one did just that, would grab this again if we come back and they have it. Strawberry Rhubarb Hand Pie -seems like a permanent item, saw them prepping a ton more when we were there. My favorite item we got, pastry was fluffy and buttery. Not too sweet, filling was the strawberry preserve and some sort of custard. The wait time can be long but it is always worth it. We've driven from San Pedro all the way out here twice just for the burrito- a vegan one for me and non-vegan one for my husband. He likes to get the biscuits and gravy too so he can dip the burrito in the gravy, and he swears it's the magic combo. I wish there were some vegan options in the pastry case, but I love that they have a homemade almond milk you can get with your lattes. The hojicha latte is especially good. It's a simple breakfast plate with two eggs, a biscuit, some bacon, a small salad, and jam. The salad is well dressed and cuts through the richness of the yolk. The biscuit is buttery and perfect with the jam. I gave my husband the bacon, and he said it was good because it wasn't salty. I enjoy their regular drip of coffee with a side of cream and sugar. Shouldn't have doubted and delayed my visit for so long to this place. Sunny yet breezy LA last weekend was certainly perfect time to get some sun kisses sitting in the outdoor patio in front of the venue. I always passed by this place, never knowing how good of a breakfast menu they have! I came here last week with a friend after thinking of what we wanted to eat that morning. Since it was 8:30, I tried my luck and sure enough, I found street parking down the street. The cafe is fairly big with patio seating available as well. One of the best cafe/restaurants/bakeries in HiFi. Their passion fruit pie is a must try. The macadamia nut crust has the perfect crunchy buttery bite to it. The pie is slightly tart but not too sweet, and has a hint of condensed milk. Tastes like a dessert you would get in the Philippines. This can be ordered by the slice but whole pie requests are done online. When ordering you have to give them at least 3-4 days notice however I put in a last minute Christmas Eve pick up order (placed on the 23rd) and someone named Ana reached out via text to confirm my order right away. Super friendly. Their breakfast burritos are pretty good too. They used to have a earl grey pastrami burrito that was super tender, juicy, and almost aromatic. We had high hopes after seeing the good reviews online, but we were pretty disappointed. We ordered online for pick up, but they had not received the order when we arrived. They were very accommodating and had the kitchen start in our food ASAP, but we ended up waiting 30 minutes for our food when we were wanting to be in and out quickly. Vegan adobo burrito (3/5): not bad! I enjoyed the crispiness of the mushrooms and the flavor. However, I wish the potatoes were cut up into smaller chunks and seasoned better. Very generous with the avocado but maybe a little too generous because every other bite was completely avocado. Veggie breakfast burrito (1/5): we really didn't care of this one. Similar problem with too much avocado and large pieces of under-seasoned potatoes. I believe you can ask for your eggs different ways, but we made no modifications so it ended up being a fried egg which we didn't really love. Just overall not very flavorful and quite disappointing. Chocolate chip cookie (3/5): loved that there were large chocolate chunks within the cookie, but the actual texture of the cookie was more sandy rather than chewy or crispy. Furthermore, their mix 'n match seats and tables were robustly comfortable. I arrived today to grab lunch and coffee. I was warmly greeted by a young male staff. I adroitly grabbed their quaint menu and ordered an Iced Coffee and Chicken Katsu bowl. The cold drink was smooth and refreshing; food was bloody amazing. It's very flavorful, crisp and delightful. I dig the rice & dipping sauce that came with it. By far it's the BEST chicken katsu I have ever tasted. I had a Butter Croissant to go. It was good especially when warmed up; it's flaky on top and soft on the inside. From the moment I stepped inside, I sensed a good vibe as well as the service staff. Service was spot. Prices were competitive. Tax well it's LA (9.75%) lol. Free street parking is available as well as wifi. Collectively, it's a good coffee shop with amazing products and service. Came to this place before going to the airport. I got the croissant sandwich, and it was awesome. It looks like just a coffee shop, but it actually has a full menu + pastries. The croissant was very good and flavorful with bright orange eggs! You can definitely taste and see the quality they use. We also got breakfast burritos, which were good, but pretty ordinary. Why -1 star? We ordered coffee with all the food, but ended up waiting 15 minutes for it. We went up to them to ask why it's not here yet, and they said they forgot. That's why. The crispy roasted potatoes in the the veggie burrito; the best tomatillo salsa and pickled onions in recent memory ; the perfect balance of complementary ingredients like arugula and avocado and buttery croissant in the croissandwich; the creamy and not overly sweet cream cheese frosting on the carrot cake; the intense flavor of the sparkling berry lemonade... these make for a perfect brunch. The service and wait staff are friendly and the indoor space is nice. The only downsides... 1. the seating is limited to mainly small tables for two. A party of three or more will find it challenging to procure a table when it's busy. There are only the small tables outdoors. 2. I was really looking forward to trying the breakfast quesadilla here, but my experience was incredibly disappointing. When my food arrived, it was completely soaked in grease. It wasn't just crispy or slightly oily, there was literally a puddle of oil sitting on top of the tortilla, making the whole thing incredibly soggy. I had to use a literal mountain of napkins just to attempt to dab off the excess grease so it was even remotely edible, but it was just a completely greasy plate. When I took it up to the front to politely bring it to their attention, I showed the man taking orders a photo from their Google Maps page to show him how different it looked from what I was served. The photo online shows a perfectly golden, crisp quesadilla. Instead of being helpful, he immediately tried to brush me off by claiming the online photo was a "veggie quesadilla" and that the carnitas version is just supposed to be that greasy. I pointed out the caption on the photo literally said "Doubtless breakfast quesadilla" (which has carnitas). Even if it is a meat option, there is no reason a dish should be swimming in that much oil, and the photos shouldn't look like two completely different items. I appreciated the effort to change up the breakfast burrito as there were many different styles on the menu. Even so, I got the most classic one and ngl I had doubts. And the salsa it came with was just ok. It' also is clearly put together to be aesthetically pleasing but not maximal for flavor. The potato is on one side and the egg is on another side - it made it hard to get a bite with all the flavors at once. Also for $20 it was a small burrito. I will say they clearly use high quality ingredients when I looked at the bowl my friend ordered.
