Was in there area the other night for dinner and, afterwards, the ladies wanted dessert, and Oakobing was like a block away, so we walked over to give it a try. It was busy, obviously on a weekend, but there were kiosks to place your orders and the desserts came out fast enough given the amount of people there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'd say, if it is busy, have someone find a table while the other orders so you have somewhere to sit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We tried three different shredded ice desserts, all single size: Matcha, Strawberry and Mango. For a single serving, they are so pretty big. If you get the large one, FYI, it is huge and should be shared by multiple people. The matcha was everyone's favorite. Great matcha flavor of you're in to matcha. The strawberry and mango were more of a her down, having very muted strawberry and mango flavored. Between the two, however, the mango was probably the better one. Just a little more flavorful. It was nice having the fresh fruit on each one though. Overall, a nice shaved ice spot in Ktown serving up a variety of shaved ice desserts. If you like matcha, get the matcha one for sure. As for the strawberry and mango, they're ok but you can definitely get better, more flavorful, fruit desserts elsewhere.

The service was good, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]there was inside and outside seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We went on a Saturday night and it was packed - but we were able to wait a little and find seating! This is great if you're coming with a group and want to share. They also have smaller sizes too for two people.
We came here on Memorial Day, about 15 minutes after they opened for the day and it was already packed! Crazy! We found metered parking directly across from Oakobing and walked over. I think there is parking behind the shops through the alley. I didn't know any specifics since I didn't park there. As we walked in the front doors, I got in line while hubby saved us a table. If you go out the back door, there is another room with more seating. I waited for my turn at the kiosk... you place the order yourself. Be sure to enter your phone number to earn loyalty points. I felt bad for the one lady making all the orders by herself. She was working as quickly as she could! I watched her for a little bit. She changed gloves often, keeping the ingredients separated. It wasn't long before I was taking my order to the table. I ordered two individual size bingsoos. One would have been ample for us to share. Each of them cost $8.50 and I got a side of Mochi for $2.25. This was some of the freshest Mochi topping I've had! Each piece was so super soft, even softer than marshmallows! They came in a condiment container so we could add them as we desired. Hubby's bingsoo was the Mango Melon and mine was the Mango. The shaved ice used was Mango for both. His had melon (Honeydew) balls and mine had mango chunks. This wasn't the best bingsoo I've had, but it was refreshing and made for a nice dessert! I thought I had been here before and I was right! It was Homibing and since my visit in 2017, it has become Oakobing. I'm glad we got to come check it out! The shaved ice menu still looks the same, except for the updated prices!
One of the best desserts in LA. Light and refreshing, with good portions. A single can definitely feed two people! I get the injeolmi every time. Tastes like peanut butter to me but my cousin says coffee. -1 Star because the wifi was down and you had to order through door dash. Would have been more convenient to have Square payment in store. We got lucky & found a meter parking across the street from this shop. Order at the kiosk & they will call your name and the # provided at the time of the order. I got matcha & strawberry thinking half of the shaved ice will be strawberry flavor but it was all matcha with halved strawberries stuck to one side of the shaved ice. I didn't check the order pad but I'm pretty sure the picture on the menu showed half strawberry shaved ice. The place was bustling & the lines to the kiosk got even longer when we left. Their shaved ice is my favorite as it's softer, flavored & not as icy as some other places. They serve the shaved ice with a little side of condensed milk so pour it over the shaved ice if you want it to be a little sweeter. It went well with the matcha shaved ice. I ordered a full size one & shared eith my husband. The smaller size is shareable too. The small one is about $9 & the larger one is between $16-$20. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have bathrooms towards the parking in the back, which you need to get the keys for.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Enjoy!!

Parking is tough with the large amounts of people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating was completely full and spills over to an extra room they have for seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waiting line was out the door for the two ordering kiosks. The Injeolmi Shaved Ice was my favorite. It is a creamy milk flavor. Ice was finely shaved and melted in the mouth nicely. Mochi pieces gave it extra texture. Dirty green tea oreo shaved ice has a shot of coffee on the side to drizzle on. The green tea isn't really a strong taste and the ice just makes it more watery. Coffee drizzled on just made the dessert a little more bitter. Overall an okay place for shaved ice. I'll probably only order the injeolmi shaved ice next time!
We visited Oakobing for dessert after dining at Hangari Kalguksu nearby just before for lunch. Although it was just down the street, we had to pay again for parking since we weren't allowed to leave the respective lots without paying extra. $5 parking just to grab dessert was a bit of a sting but for LA it's to be expected. The place was somewhat small but wasn't really busy for a Saturday afternoon, and we noticed they had some spacious auxiliary seating areas specifically for Oakobing across the hall. At first glance, the prices seemed sort of high for shaved ice, so we opted for sharing 2 of the smallest personal sizes ($8.5 each). It turns out that this size was plenty. I'm not sure how big the regular bowls are, but I think especially after a meal the personal size is plenty for a satisfying dessert for 2 people. I'm assuming part of the large price difference in sizes comes down to the large amount of fresh fruit that comes on their regular bowls. Still, we very much enjoyed our bowls. The ice is shaved almost impossibly thin, and rather than melting into a pool of water almost turns into a sorbet/ice cream like texture, which is very satisfying to eat. I enjoyed how their condensed milk topping was diluted to form a lighter cream that was more sauce-like than think and drizzle-like. It all lended to making the dessert enjoyably light. I would definitely drop by again, especially if we could avoid the parking costs.
I had really high hopes for this place considering it was recommended by a friend and the positive reviews, but we were pretty disappointed. We ordered the mango bingsoo with a side of the melon balls. I like the texture of the snow, but the flavor left much to be desired. It has an artificial mango taste that isn't very pleasant. The mangos were also not fresh... tasted like the frozen mangos you get at the freezer section of the grocery store. I wish it was also in a bowl, since it's pretty messy eating it on the plate. Every time I tried to scoop some snow, some would fall onto the tray since the plate is so small. The melon balls were fine, slightly sweet but not super ripe. I like that you can order through a kiosk and that there's pictures of what you are ordering. The snow came out reasonably quickly considering there was only one person working. The interior has plenty of tables for you to sit down and enjoy your desserts. We parked nearby for lunch and walked over, but parking seems pretty limited/difficult (standard for LA though I guess, lol).
My go to shaved ice dessert spot. Got the matcha one this time, which comes with red bean and mochi. It wasn't too sweet and was really light, which I liked because it doesn't make me feel too guilty having a sweet treat. ive also had the strawberry one and mango melon in the past and it is so refreshing. Parking can be a little rough since it's mainly street parking, but they do have valet in the back. Ordering is super easy since it's all self service kiosks. There's plenty of seating, but it does get really packed at night. Overall, always a solid spot and I'd definitely keep coming back!

I went on a Wednesday night around 7:30 and it was relatively empty. It was pretty packed by the time we left though so I would expect a wait if you're going a little later at night. We ordered at the kiosk and got our food super quick. We also got lucky with street parking nearby which was free after 6pm I think Pineapple: 4/5 this is a special flavor that I think is only available in April. I liked it but kinda wished it was a little more sour. Note: I like Oakobing a lot in general bc their bingsu is a creamier than other places but this was $20 so def not something I would get often. It was big enough that my friend and I were pretty full and didn't wanna finish it so it probably is a good amount for 3-4 people
OK, so this place was good, don't get me wrong. But I was expecting a little bit more. I know this is one of the top places in Koreatown, but I feel like I've had slightly better once elsewhere. The flavor of the snow I got was good, but it didn't allow me very much. I would have liked maybe more condensed milk on the side, the container they give is kind of small, but I probably could've asked for more. Overall, I think it's worth a shot, but I would probably not come back unless I'm really craving it.

Yes yes yes! I think I found my new favorite dessert spot for the summer! These Korean shaved ice are where it's at! They are perfectly light, and sweet and packed with flavor! You don't feel like you're eating shaved ice! You feel like you're eating a fluffy cloud! When you walk in, you are greeted by kiosks where you place your order. You don't have much interaction with the staff other than than they calling out your number when your order is ready [[HIGHLIGHT]]Only downside is they were playing music way too loud! The store itself had maybe 1-2 other parties inside... but the music was too loud we practically had to yell at each other to MAYBE hear the person right next to us. Sooo good and portions are huge. My boyfriend and i made the mistake of getting one small and one large--DO NOT BE FOOLED, a large is MORE than enough for two people lol The only thing that kinda sucks is that for both the small and the large, they each get the same amount of sweetened milk to pour over the top. I feel like the large should get a bigger portion but idk maybe that's just me. It also sucks because if you want more of the milk topping you have to pay extra, sooo :/ Otherwise, I loved it and I'll definitely be back to try the other flavors! read more
After a delicious lunch, my niece and I were on a mission for desserts. This location of Oakobing is in Koreatown was within walking distance so we decided to check it out. For those driving here, we did notice it was connected to small parking structure. Upon entering the front, there were 2 kiosks. We had no interaction with staff. There was no customization with the selections and there was no one to ask. For instance the mango shaved snow came with the melon. I wanted the strawberry shaved snow with the melon balls but they didn't have that option. When you order additional toppings, they leave it on the side. Not visually appealing at all. My niece and I shared the Strawberry Shaved Ice ($18.99) and added Mochi ($2.50) and Melon Balls ($4.25). After you order from the kiosk, you seat yourself and they'll call your number when your order ready. I really like their shaved ice here because the ice is creamy and flavored before they shave it so it's extra flavorful and creamy. It's just really expensive for what it is and especially pricey when you want additional ingredients. Most other shaved ice businesses will allow multiple ingredients for a portion of the cost. One thing that was weird is how it came in a plate instead of a bowl shaped container. Eat quick and make sure it doesn't tip over. I'm so torn because I like the product after the addition of more toppings, but I'm not sure it's worth the price. Also no staff interaction and lacking customization makes my experience as a customer frustrating and limited. Not sure if I would come back. read more

Oakobing is definitely one of my favorite dessert spots in Ktown! I stopped by with some friends on a Saturday night and it was packed. You order at the self service kiosks. I appreciate how they have smaller single bingsu as well as the full sized options. We got the mango melon full sized shaved ice, which comes in a half melon bowl with melon balls - it was so refreshing and perfect for sharing. That said, it does get very crowded on weekend evenings and finding a table was a bit of a challenge. They have indoor as well as limited outdoor tables. Tables weren't really cleaned as frequently, likely as the staff were simply so busy. Parking can be tricky especially on busy weekend evenings. read more

Oakobing is such a refreshing treat and a must have when in LA! Not the typical shaved ice with syrup, their shaved ice is full of flavor (think of melona icecream). And to top it off, they give a small cup of condensed milk to add on and make it creamier. The inside is clean with a good amount of tables even further inside. Order on the self-kiosk then find a seat and wait for them to text you when your order is ready! The service has always been good and love that they have monthly new flavors, but was hoping they would have black sesame regularly. There is a parking structure right across for $5 or you can find street parking. There is limited seating inside/outside so I would recommend having a friend find a table while you order. We tried their strawberry and melon shaved ice and both were delicious. The melon balls were super cute and juicy. Although the last time we went again, the balls were not placed with as much love as the first time (not as aesthetically pleasing) :( but still good! They also provide small sharing cups which is perfect for large groups. 2 large size oakobings were perfect for 6 people. I would def recommend stopping by for a nice treat to cool off to and am excited for more of their flavors.. maybe jackfruit or durian next!! read more
After dinner nearby, three of us stopped by Oakobing for bingsoo. The way they do shaved ice here is really interesting. The take a block of flavored ice and use a machine to shave it into little sheet-like pieces before finishing it with various toppings and drizzles. SINGLE SIZE BINGSU: GREEN TEA While the presentation was beautiful, it was pretty hard to eat. We made a mess on our trays every time we tried to get a spoonful. The green tea flavor was very strong, but the mochi was hard and not the soft, chewy ones I expected. It was fine, but I'd want to try something else next time. The single size was good to share with others if you're not looking to eat too much. Overall, I wasn't as impressed with Oakobing as I had hoped after all the hype I've heard about it. read more

The service and the quality has gone down so bad and I don't know if their freezers aren't working correctly, but you could see that the ice was already melting and it makes for a really strange, slushy, sticky texture instead of a light and fluffy and airy texture. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is filthy and the AC is set at like 85.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was so gross. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I used to love this place but definitely will not be returning, but I was there at opening and it was so dirty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They hadn't cleaned the previous night and I took a picture of their napkin holder at their front window and as you can see it's not maintained.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]If they don't care about what you can see in the front, imagine what's going on in the back[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. read more

I came with four friends on a Saturday evening for a pre-dinner dessert. It was quite crowded when we arrived, but there was ample seating. The interior was very clean and welcoming. I tried the strawberry shave ice and mango shave ice. They were both delicious and creamy. I personally liked the strawberry shave ice the best as it was sweeter. Overall, I had a great time and will be back for more! read more
This place is busy but worth it. We were lucky and didn't have to wait in line for too long, but a long line formed after we ordered. You order at the kiosk, which was easy and convenient, and the bingsu came out pretty quickly. We ordered the strawberry and the mango melon bingsu. Both were delicious, but I liked the strawberry one more since it pairs really well with the condensed milk. There's a decent amount of seating inside, but it fills up fast. I do wish the interior was a bit cleaner, the floor was a little dirty with bingsu drips and water spills. They offer parking in a small private garage for $5. read more

I've been to many bingsoo places (including Korea, Socal, and Norcal), and this is by far the best one in my opinion! I used to come here every chance I get when visiting LA, and I would order the regular big one to share with another person, and the portions are absolutely HUGE, i would get way too full after... but don't fret! They now have single size portions that are smaller and you can get more flavors to try and share in a bigger group! I got the single sized strawberry and mango, and oh my goodness this was to die for! I love how they use flavored shaved iced instead of the classic milk ice and syrup like other places do. This is what makes them truly stand out. The fruits were huge as well and the shaved ice was sweet and delicious. Make sure to add condensed milk because that is what makes it taste so much better. We ordered the matcha strawberry shaved ice. The matcha shaved ice itself was good! But I would say very minimal strawberry to it. They topped it off with some strawberries but it was sour. There wasn't any other strawberry flavorings to it. I want to come back and try the purely strawberry one and see if it's better. One of my favorite dessert places in LA!! Despite the limited seating due to how busy it can get, the service is always fast and the place itself is really clean. The only difficult part is finding good street parking at night!! Highly recommend the mango & honeydew melon bingsoo. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I came here on a Wednesday evening around 9 PM and it was super packed, we had a hard time getting seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got the mango, mango melon, and strawberry banana bingsoos. I only tried the mango melon. We also got 2 sides of mochi. I thought the ice part was very refreshing, and the fruit was ripe and sweet. However, I feel like for the price, the bingoos should have had mochi included with it. I also felt like it was missing something creamy, like ice cream. They did give condensed milk, but it wasn't nearly enough, and they wouldn't give any more without charging extra. read more
For a single serve this hits the spot! Feels like drinking a whole cup of matcha tea in the form of snowy ice. Make sure to use the tray cuz it gets messy!! As you dig in the snow the rest may fall all over and it is a mess to clean up if you do not have the tray or tissues under. I did not care for mochi but she gave anyway and I have to say it was a good thing she gave as it added to the flavor with a hint of sweetness. For those who do not like desserts too sweet, this small amount of mochi and milk is all you need. I could barely finish all of this single size dessert. Maybe we just happened to order the wrong thing, but I was disappointed by my experience. The mango melon bingsoo is ther signature flavor, so I was determined to try it, served in a melon bowl. This ended up sounding much more exciting than it actually was...all this was was half a melon with mango shaved ice, topped with a few melon balls. The shaved ice itself was a nice, fluffy sorbet texture, but I was underwhelmed by the lack of variety and toppings. Refreshing? Yes. Satisfying? Not quite. Oakobing was delightfully delicious! I have had bingsoo previously mainly at Sul and Beans and this place was a pleasant, refreshing surprise. There were a vast amount of flavors that ranged from injeoulmi to mango, but the way it was prepared surprised me the most. I opted for the strawberry bingsoo and it was delicious. The bingsoo was different than Sul and Beans as it didn't feature the milky snow ice with strawberry syrup and fruit. Instead it featured the actual strawberry flavor in the ice with fresh strawberries and condensed milk on the side. It was still delicious and I liked the blend - it almost reminded me of a Class302 shaved ice. The strawberries were also ripe and sweet. Service was great and the self-serve kiosk make ordering a breeze. I would recommend if youre in the area! read more
Parking is difficult but you can pay $5 and park in a side lot. Basically next door to this location. We love bingsu and this spot is crazy busy. No seats but a table left and we snagged it but it was dirty and floors were sticky. This place was full right up til they said all orders will be to go from then on out as they were closing soon. It is light and love that the melon balls are on top and mango is in the shavings. We would come back for the melon balls again. read more
Oakobing is such a cute dessert spot, I always stop by when I'm in the area. The bingsoo is super light and fluffy, not overly sweet, and perfect for sharing (even with the single size). We try different flavors every time we go and everything always tastes really fresh, especially the fruit toppings. The cafe itself has a clean, cozy vibe and makes for a nice late-night dessert stop or casual catch-up spot with friends. Service was quick and everyone working there was really friendly. Prices are a little on the higher side, but the portions are pretty generous. Definitely one of the better bingsoo places I've tried in LA! read more
Oakobing serves some delicious bingsu! They have a few different flavors to choose from. The ice itself is flavored so it's very creamy and flavorful! And they add fresh fruit on top which is a nice touch. They have different sizes to choose from but even the smaller size was kind of big for one person. You can see them shave the ice behind the counter which is fun! The place is very small, especially considering how busy it gets. But service was fairly quick. They do have iPads to order on which makes things easier. read more

My family and I were all happy and fully satisfied with everything Oakobing had to offer. I loved eating my desert and will definitely be coming back. I would recommend parking on the street since its a cheaper option than the garage. This place is yummy read more
We got the Mango Melon Shaved Ice at Oakobing. This thing was huge. Like, legitimately bigger than my face. Portion size alone already makes it worth it. The shaved ice was light, refreshing, and perfect if you want something sweet but not too heavy. Service was fast, even though the place was packed. The staff kept things moving, which I really appreciated. Ambiance-wise, it was definitely crowded, but the space still felt modern and clean, so it didn't feel chaotic or uncomfortable. it is actually pretty awesome!! they put them in these little paper cups and have ice packs in the packaging so they are still frozen when they arrive.
