This is based strictly on their shaved ice, and it is definitely 5 star worthy. We got the strawberry shaved ice, and it was SO GOOD. I mean, how good can shaved ice be, but they make it so tasty and even inside there are chunks of strawberries and the ice just melts in your mouth. I'm scared how many calories there are in that bowl, but trust me, it is worth the calories. I'd love to go back and try other items. I'm a sucker for a good boonguhpang (taiyaki), and theirs looks bomb. The space was packed when we got there on Sat afternoon. It is very airy and bright, simple decor. Also it is loud. We have a whole lot of coffee shops in KTown and a whole lot of dessert spots, too. They have great coffees, matcha drinks and but what makes Anko special is their dessert. Truly their bingsoo is a great size and may just be the best there is in Koreatown. Perfect level of sweetness dissipating along with the gentle flakes of the shaved iced. You'll find it's a bit sweeter here than other shops (while still staying mild) as they seem to use a bit more condensed milk compared to other patbingsu spots. I know they have taiyaki, as well, but I am usually just ordering the Black Sesame Bingsoo when I dine here. I've done the Black Sesame the most but also love the mango, matcha, add some red bean...it's just good bingsu here. Service is phenomenal and the owner of the shop is a middle-aged lady who often brings the order to your table once you're seated. Cute little bingsoo shopped tucked in the corner of Ktown. Parking is somewhat difficult because of KTown but there I was able to find a curb spot on a random afternoon weekday just down the road. The inside is clean and modern, with one giant table in the middle where people was working on their laptops and some other small side tables/chairs for small groups. My party and I got the mango bingsoo and taiyaki. The texture of the bingsoo was perfectly light and fluffy (not icy) goods with some fresh mangos, mango puree with a side of condensed milk that you can feel free to drizzle on yourself. We opted for taiyaki with half red bean filling and half custard (other options include Nutella, cheese, and banana). You can tell they were made fresh because the outer bready layer was piping hot when it came out in the tray and the red bean filling and custard were steaming and also warm and gooey when you bit into it. I really do like this place and have been coming here for the last 5 years. But I would say half the time I have I attempted to visit there (after checking their insta and yelp posted opening times), the store is closed.
