I'm a fan of shaved ice, and Mewame does a unique shaved ice desert. It's all coconut or nut milk based. The flavors are bright and clean and it makes a perfect treat on a warm day.
Wow wow wow! I am so amazed with this shop and can't wait to return to try more flavors! All the desserts are vegan and made-to-order, and the flavors are so unique. After getting recommendations from the cashier, I went with the summer special: Chill Voyage - yuzu coconut spirulina shaved ice. It ended up being super refreshing on the hot day! I loved the presentation with a fork and tray too. It made the overall experience so nice and welcoming. I have no idea how they get ice to be so fluffy! It is amazing, truly an art. I'd love to go back to try more flavors and even a shake. You can park in the Trader Joe's parking structure - 1 hour free parking.
Discovering Korean bingsu (shaved ice) was such a surprise for me, and Mewame completely changed the way I think about desserts. I never imagined ice could be so soft, fluffy, and full of flavor--it literally melts in your mouth. I fell in love after the very first bite. Ever since I found this place, I've been coming here almost every day. My favorite is the chocolate bingsu, but honestly, every flavor I've tried has been amazing. I've had bingsu at a few other places in Koreatown, but Mewame is by far my favorite. The quality, presentation, and taste are on another level. The café is spotless, cozy, and beautifully designed, and I love the location too. 20/10--absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!
Absolute heaven! We ordered a matcha shake and a honeydew shaven ice cream. The matcha quality is seriously the best and the shake texture added a special touch. Def a lot more on the dessert side because of this. We shared one of each. The honeydew was the perfect flavor option for the ice. It's sweetness and freshness complimented well with the cream and the cookie. The texture of the shaved ice was fun as well. Service was very quick. They serve your items on nice wooden plates. I also enjoyed the layout and the table designs. Great size for optimizing room. There were lots of people when we went, but it made the ambiance feel nice. Great spot to come with friends, family, or any large group. Street parking available.
Have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got to! I got their two current specials (the chill voyage and the pistachio). They are beautiful desserts and the cafe is so aesthetic. There's seating indoors and outside and street parking or neighborhood parking nearby. Everyone was really friendly too and patient while I decided what to get. For the actual desserts, they are so creamy while also being dairy free! They're light, not too sweet, and the toppings add texture and more flavor making them the perfect treat. The only downside is that they are quite pricey for the size so they're more of a specialty than a regular treat.
We got the matcha bingsoo and it was so good! I liked how strong the matcha flavor was and the softness of the ice. It also wasn't overly sweet. It was a bit hard parking and finding the store. The cashier was so friendly and helpful with recommendations. I would come back to try their other flavors!
I parked across the street to visit Trader Joe's and remembered I had been wanting to try Mewame! When I walked in, the space was moody and clean. The staff member was kind and friendly as well as patient when it came to me trying to decide which flavor to try. I chose the Spring Seasonal Flavor which happened to be Jasmine Green Tea and it was incredibly delicious. Sweet, fragrant, and light. It made for a perfect blend that was refreshing and smooth. I thought the texture of the shaved ice was really interesting and melted in a soft serve way. Overall, highly recommend. Absolutely worth a try for vegans and non-dairy people alike.
Starting off, the service was nice and quick. Very aesthetically pleasing interior. Tables were a bit dirty, needed to wipe down but expected at dessert place. As for the dessert itself it was okay. We got the hojicha and jasmine green milk shaved ice. Tbh they were both okay. They had the flavor profile that they weee trying to present, the shaved ice is different texture then what I'm used to having. Idk if I love it but it's not bad; however, I think would much rather have had it in drink form. That being said, I was between a 3 and 4 but mewame is such a tough name I had to give them a 4. Very good interior design too!

Houjicha ($9.00 -- special collaboration with Rocky's Matcha) -- rocky's matcha houjicha, madagascar vanilla, oat, and houjicha powder. Strawberry ($8.50) -- strawberry & strawberry powder.
I can't stop thinking about this coconut cream matcha smoothie, it always hits the spot and is so satisfying and refreshing while not being too sweet. Small little cafe tucked away but it is definitely yummy! Their shaved ice is also delicious! Service fast and friendly and it hasn't gotten too crazy packed.
Came here with a friend for a post meal dessert. Street parking on Santa Monica is tough (and metered!) but there is free street parking on the side street this is located on if you're good to walk a bit. Seating is exclusively indoors and its limited BUT mewame is right next to a small outdoor park where you can take your dessert to-go and eat at! Matcha shaved ice 4.5/5, this was delicious and I would definitely would come again! It's more of a traditionally bitter green tea tasting matcha flavor and the hints of coconut throughout add some sweetness. Each portion is big enough to share for two!

Really loved how the matcha was not very sweet which balanced out well with the sweet cream on top. This spot is small and cute, really enjoyed coming here with friends.

A hidden gem for vegan shaved ice lovers in West Hollywood! First off, the shop itself is SO cute! It's spacious, aesthetically pleasing, and has such a fun, unique concept. I loved how beautiful everything looked, especially the shaved ice! the little details are seriously adorable! I've seen some mixed reviews mentioning that the shaved ice is too light or has an airy texture, so I went in curious about what I would think. As someone who's pretty picky with desserts and matcha, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed everything! I tried their strawberry coconut shaved ice and matcha shaved ice, along with their matcha and berry Blockshakes. The shaved ice has a very light, delicate, almost feathery texture rather than the traditional snowy texture you might be used to. The strawberry was my personal favorite, and I loved the unique flavor of the matcha shaved ice, which had a subtle chocolatey note to me. They also add the cutest little gluten-free cookie on top, and you can choose extra toppings like sweet red bean and coconut bites. The coconut bites are a MUST! They add such a nice texture and extra flavor. The Blockshakes were another fun surprise! They're such a unique addition to the menu, and I love that there are different flavors to choose from. I thought the shaved ice was cute and I liked that it was non-dairy, but it was disappointing. It was simple tasting and EXTREMELY light, like eating flavored air light. It tasted like artificial strawberry to me, but I enjoyed the dollop of coconut? cream. I do prefer something a bit more substantial and I just felt like it wasn't worth the money because it just melted instantly the moment I put it in my mouth. I am so happy I finally had time to stop by Mewame! It's a cozy place with the sweetest staff helping me This evening, I did not get her name but she was very kind and had a great smile! She offered some recommendations since it was my first time and I went with the matcha. You get a pretty good size cup for about $9 and it's the perfect amount for one person. It also helps that it's not too sweet and a sugar overload! I love Korean shaved ice and most places in LA are pretty similar but I feel like Mewame has the advantage with the ice being even more soft and fluffy, practically snow like, where others still remain somewhat icy. And as I mentioned the subtle sweetness is perfect so you don't feel like the cup is too rich or overdone. Simple matcha flavoring with a coconut cream to perfectly balance out! Yummy dessert spot tucked away in a plaza between weho/hollywood. The flavors are delicate and subtly sweet. My friend and I tried the spring seasonal flavor Jasmine Green Tea Shaved Ice and Cashew Coconut. The texture is super fluffy and light, I haven't tried this style of dessert before! You can tell the quality of their bingsoo is fresh and that's what I really liked. It wasn't too sweet, and honestly it was so good I almost finished all of it! The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 is because the strawberry topping wasn't my favorite. Service could have been a bit faster but it was worth the wait. Lots of seating inside as well. read more
Tried out this bingsoo place when craving it, and was also intrigued that it was fully vegan. The interior of the space was super nice and cute. Very clean and modern. There's plenty of seating both inside and outside, making it a nice place to study, hang out, or catch up with friends. Service was friendly, and I thought it was nice that they brought the bingsoo directly to our table. Parking on a Thursday night wasn't too bad with street parking available, though I'm not sure if there are other better options. My friends and I tried the Mango Passionfruit and the Houjicha bingsoo. The shaved ice was really soft and delicious. Flavor-wise, they were decent, but the mango passionfruit was much more tart than I would have expected and preferred, and I found myself wishing the houjicha flavor was a bit stronger and bitmore pronounced. Overall, it's a pretty nice spot for a quick sweet treat. I'd come back to try other flavors if I happened to be in the area, but probably wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

Guilt-free desserts? Say less, I'm omw! I'm talking about a vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, and artificial junk-free menu with zero compromise on flavor and quality. My Matcha Shaved Ice was fluffy and not-too-sweet, just the way I like it. The worker said the mango passion fruit and cashew coconut have been the top sellers, so I guess I'll have to come back to try those :) The simplicity and cleanliness of the shop gave us a refreshing break from the usual LA chaos. I came here as a treat after having a scary medical exam done, and it was the perfect pick me up. Not as thick as gelato/ice cream but thicker than other shaved ice I've tried, it was a pretty unique textural dessert. They have lots of flavors but we tried strawberry (coconut based) and matcha (oat based). The strawberry one tasted like strawberry milk to me, a little more sweet and creamy than I'd expect, but the matcha one was soooo good. It tasted just like a matcha Einspänner, and I know I'll be craving this come summer. The service was also great - the attendant took his time explaining everything to us and was very intentional in the display of the dessert. Pro tip: just park in the Trader Joe's lot off pointsettia, it's free parking for an hour without any validation needed. I would definitely return for the matcha shaved ice alone! read more
A small cute spot located in a little shopping plaza! There's a retail parking lot that does 1 hour of free parking (and maybe free parking in general on the weekends? not super sure). They do vegan shaved ice and also drinks, but I mainly came for the shaved ice. They have both coconut and oat based flavors for the shaved ice, and I got their seasonal honeydew pandan flavor which has a coconut base. The coconut makes it soooo much more creamy than regular shaved ice. Like it feels rich and creamy yet light and airy at the same time! There was a strong melon flavor as well that was not overshadowed by the baseline coconut flavor. The coconut cream and small cookie on top were fun too. Update: Absolutely love the new spring flavor: Jasmine Green Tea Shaved Ice!! Felt as if I was sitting under a flower tree at a chill picnic hangout with friends. Came after lunch on Sunday around 2PM. I love how light & approachable this shaved ice is! You know when you /have to/ commit to eating dessert in LA.. there's plenty of dessert spots are either filling, food coma inducing, really sweet or quite large like they are making a big statement? Well this is one of those rare breed of where they do it quality, light & tasty shaved ice. This isn't your bingsoo or your halo halo kind of spot. The owner apparently upgraded his Hojicha drink and that's why it taste soooo much better than the basic Hojicha you taste at other places. This is that relaxed light dessert you CAN have after a medium to heavy meal. The staff here are nice, polite and do a quality job presenting these delights. read more

Today we tried two things: the pistachio shaved ice and the matcha milkshake. First, the location. The shop is in West Hollywood, near Trader Joe's and next to a Pilates studio. It's a little hidden, and parking is not great. You may find parking near Trader Joe's, or use street parking for around $1. Now, the important part: the food. Pistachio Shaved Ice This one was disappointing. When you order something pistachio-flavored, you expect that rich, nutty pistachio taste. We've tried a lot of pistachio desserts, and this one tasted like... sugar wearing a green outfit. There was almost no pistachio flavor. The portion was also pretty small. It had cream on the bottom, shaved ice in the middle, more cream on top, and some crushed pistachios. It looked interesting, but the flavor and texture were very basic. Nothing creative, nothing memorable. The biggest problem is simple: it's called pistachio shaved ice, but the pistachio forgot to show up. Matcha Milkshake The matcha milkshake was okay. The matcha flavor was fairly strong, but it was still mostly sweet. There wasn't much of that fresh, slightly bitter matcha aroma or aftertaste. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't special. Overall, we give this place: 3 out of 5. Not terrible, but probably not a place we would rush back to. The desserts were sweet, but they were missing a little soul. read more

Hojicha block shake 4/5: I LOVE Hojicha so imagine my excitement when I saw this!!! Don't get me wrong this was delicious and so good!!! My only gripe was that it was too sweet for my taste buds (everything was basically perfect but they couldn't adjust the sweetness since the blocks are premade). If ever they make it sugar-free or at least only subtlety sweet (maybe one without the maple syrup or use monk fruit?) I have yet to find a shaved ice place I like in LA. Our favorite was called Wicked Snow in Dallas, we absolutely don't understand the hype for Oakobing and was hoping Mewame would hit the spot but it didn't quite do it for us. - Mango Passion Fruit: it was just tart. Which the employee did let us know it was going to be tart but I couldn't really distinguish the flavors well. It was a bit more passion fruit-y than mango. It wasn't bad but most of us (me, my fiancé and 4 of our friends) eventually got tired of the flavor - Hongsi: I just... didn't get any flavor. I know even the persimmon fruit itself won't be sweet unless it's completely ripe but this one just didn't stand out at all - Cashew Coconut: surprisingly everyone's favorite. It was light, but creamy and actually tasted the coconut flavor. If we were to go back, we'd get this again Maybe we just need to try their other flavors but we're not rushing to go back unfortunately. There's metered street parking available and if you're going to the TJs in the same area, you should be able to get your parking validated. Service was nice thought! This spot is a hidden gem tucked away, but definitely worth the visit! We shared the shaved matcha, but I recommend getting your own because it's so yummy and goes quickly! The service here is unmatched. The gentlemen behind the counter were very sweet and I can tell they prepare each order with good intention and take consideration into everything they do. The space inside was very clean and simple, with limited seating. Parking was a little tough but it is a nice side of town to walk through. I would 100% love to come back here again. read more

It's a cute little dessert place hidden next to the trader joes. My friend and I shared the mango option and the worker did mention that it was a tad bit sour. We found it to be ok, not bad but not something I would go out of my way for. Place had ample seating. Parking in the garage is free, which is a plus for weho. read more

Mango passionfruit shaved ice was way too tart, I didn't really like the sour flavor but the coconut cream on top was good and I wish there was more. The texture is interesting though it's not like any other shaved ice I've had, super layered and creamy. I'd be open to trying a different flavor next time. Hidden gem alert!! My friends and I came in expecting it to be a regular matcha spot, and we ended up being pleasantly surprised with mewame. Mewame is a gluten free, dairy free, and vegan cafe. It's has the perfect ambiance for simply getting some work done, or yapping with some friends. We ordered the matcha block shake. The block shakes are made from avocado, coconut, cacao, and maple syrup. These ingredients didn't overpower the matcha at all and the matcha felt like it perfectly balanced everything. Mewame is a small shop nestled almost hidden away around the corner/in a shopping mall. The shaved ice was much creamier than anticipated but it was so flavorful. The matcha was a fan favorite among our group and almost had a chocolate flavor to it. Seating was casual and comfortable for a quick sweet treat. One of my new favorite shaved ice spots in LA!! Everything is vegan and SO DELIGHTFUL! The ice is incredibly fluffy. Plus, paired with the coconut cream makes a for a perfect bite, chef's kiss!! We got the strawberry flavor and it's not too sweet. They mentioned their top 3 are mango passion fruit, strawberry and matcha. Can't wait to come back and try other flavors. There's plenty of street parking, and the store is very clean. The staff is helpful in answering any questions. Highly recommend!!
