Last time I recall a lot of vegetarian stuff and well as liking their dried miso thing. Mom like scallops sushi - didn't like the lobster appetizer. Liked the scallops. Dad liked that lobster more than the caviar gf loved everything - salmon, halibut, Spanish mackerel, scallops, and uni. I had the artichoke appetizer. It doesn't say that it comes also with red peppers and scallions - so I got a version without. I liked the sushi I made - cucumber asparagus plum sauce . Didn't like the cucumber appetizer. Didn't hate it either. We alllll lovvveeedd the deserts. Rice pudding and cappuccino desert thing.

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining here tonight with two great friends, and it was an experience worth sharing. We started with the yellowtail jalapeño, which was absolutely amazing bright, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The toro with caviar was so decadent I could have easily ordered two more. The spicy tuna on crispy rice was fine, but didn't quite hit the same high notes as the other dishes. From there, we enjoyed a wide selection of sashimi, including octopus and a few other fish whose names escape me, but each bite was fresh and beautifully presented. The salmon and snow crab roll was another highlight, delicate yet flavorful. We paired everything with a few bottles of sake, including the house brand in the blue bottle. Personally, it reminded me of Vicks 44 from childhood (not my favorite), but the rest of the table loved it, so clearly it's a crowd-pleaser. Dessert was a perfect finale: the bento box with warm chocolate cake and green tea ice cream, plus the banana bread pudding, both indulgent and satisfying. Service was impeccable throughout. Our server moved swiftly and seamlessly, making the three-hour dinner feel like it flew by in ten minutes. Fantastic food, impeccable service, and the joy of sharing it all with great friends made this night truly special.

Tried the $200 omakase which consisted of his signature dishes for the 1st time. Each dish was amazing, as was the service. Who knew Sunday would be so busy! Love this spot!

Matsuhisa has the pedigree, it's Nobu's original spot, the birthplace of the black cod miso and yellowtail jalapeño. Walking in, I expected fireworks. What I got was... solid, but not mind-blowing. The cold dish sashimi was WORTH IT. Don't get me wrong: everything was good. The fish is undeniably fresh, the black cod still melts like butter, and the jalapeño yellowtail hits that perfect citrusy-spicy balance. But with the Nobu name, I was anticipating something that felt next-level. Instead, it felt like a polished greatest-hits album -- all the classics, none of the surprises. Service is professional and attentive, the room has a cozy, understated charm, and the overall experience is refined. But compared to the hype around "Nobu," I left feeling like I'd checked a box rather than had my sushi world rocked. Still worth visiting for the history and quality -- just manage expectations. If you've been to Nobu Malibu or one of the flashier locations, this will feel like the quieter, simpler cousin. Pro tip: go in hungry, order the omakase, and lean into the nostalgia. It's less about innovation now, more about tasting where it all began.

Everything we had was delicious! The service was friendly and so attentive. Visiting LA for the night and some friends that live here recommended it. 10/10, really glad they sent me here.

Haven't been back in awhile but it's always been one of my favorite spots. Their seafood is always fresh.

Food cooked to perfection with the best ingredients. Very creative dishes. I really like the bigger room, it feels more spacious. Service is always nice and consisten. This time I really loved their desserts!

Every time we visit we love the food and service. This time we tried this delicious sushi which is seasonal. It was topped with truffle oil. It is a must try.

I was afraid that everything was going to be extremely heavy, like French cuisine can be with all the cheese and butter. But I ordered the Combo of the Lemon Butter Chicken Ramen and a side of the Miso Teri Bowl (in case the ramen would be too much for me), and I was blown away by both dishes. The Lemon Butter is NOT heavy at all. It felt light and savory, but had a depth of flavor that's hard to identify because this is a dish I have never had anywhere else before. I can see why it's the most popular item on the menu. I took the side of Miso Teri Bowl home for dinner as the ramen was filling enough. There's a hint of wasabi in the dressing they drizzle over the shredded green onions that elevate this dish from other Teriyaki Chicken bowls I've had. Just DELICIOUS. I'd come back to Tonsho just for this rice bowl. My friend got the Dan Dan Ramen which he said blew his mind. He was surprised by the lightness of the broth, which is unlike the Chinese Dan Dan which is usually made of heavy creamy sesame paste. He actually drank most of the broth, and didn't feel like he was cheating on his diet. Additionally, the design of the restaurant, from the layout to the choice of bowls and utensils reminded me of a certain 2-Michelin Star restaurant in Culver City. The service was bar none. The waitress was attentive and thoughtful, even getting us a glass of water after we had been sitting there for another hour after paying our check. We never felt rushed or pushed out. Five stars, period. Coming back for more.

The restaurant isn't crowded on a Thursday evening and I was seated immediately. Original ramen 5/5 has a stronger chicken broth flavor. Lemon butter ramen 4/5 is masked more with the buttery and creamy flavor. So the chicken broth flavor isn't as strong. Miso teri bowl 5/5 has a charcoaled flavor and is favored well by my group. Gyoza 5/5 is okay. You can't go wrong with gyoza. Overall, the ramen this restaurant used is a wheat type, not egg. The ramen noodles have speckles of wheat on them and appear much more clear. My table thought the wheat flavor was too overwhelming while I didn't think so. I definitely like the original ramen more because it has a stronger chicken f

At 6pm, we were only 1 of 2 parties; by 7:30pm, all the inside & outdoor patio tables were filled except for a couple. Instead of the traditional nori typically used for handrolls, they served a salted, crispy version. While some diners may enjoy the added texture, it wasn't quite for me. It reminded me of the seasoned seaweed used in Korean kimbap--similar to what I buy at Costco and use at home--which took away from the experience I expect from a classic handroll. The fish itself was fresh and above average, especially considering the lunch special pricing. Overall, it was a solid meal, but if I order this again, I would definitely request traditional nori to better complement the quality of the fish.

Their happy hour is one of the better ones I've found, with a great selection of rolls, nigiri, appetizers, and more, mostly ranging from $7-10. Parking is easy too, with plenty of street parking nearby. I sat at the bar, and the service was fantastic. I also tried the wagyu taco--it was fresh and flavorful, though the sauce wasn't my favorite, but that's just personal preference. I finished with a salmon hand roll and upgraded to salmon belly for a small upcharge, which was absolutely worth it.
