Tried the $200 omakase which consisted of his signature dishes for the 1st time. Each dish was amazing, as was the service. Who knew Sunday would be so busy! Love this spot!

Everything we had was delicious! The service was friendly and so attentive. Visiting LA for the night and some friends that live here recommended it. 10/10, really glad they sent me here.

Matsuhisa has the pedigree, it's Nobu's original spot, the birthplace of the black cod miso and yellowtail jalapeño. Walking in, I expected fireworks. What I got was... solid, but not mind-blowing. The cold dish sashimi was WORTH IT. Don't get me wrong: everything was good. The fish is undeniably fresh, the black cod still melts like butter, and the jalapeño yellowtail hits that perfect citrusy-spicy balance. But with the Nobu name, I was anticipating something that felt next-level. Instead, it felt like a polished greatest-hits album -- all the classics, none of the surprises. Service is professional and attentive, the room has a cozy, understated charm, and the overall experience is refined. But compared to the hype around "Nobu," I left feeling like I'd checked a box rather than had my sushi world rocked. Still worth visiting for the history and quality -- just manage expectations. If you've been to Nobu Malibu or one of the flashier locations, this will feel like the quieter, simpler cousin. Pro tip: go in hungry, order the omakase, and lean into the nostalgia. It's less about innovation now, more about tasting where it all began.

Haven't been back in awhile but it's always been one of my favorite spots. Their seafood is always fresh.

Food cooked to perfection with the best ingredients. Very creative dishes. I really like the bigger room, it feels more spacious. Service is always nice and consisten. This time I really loved their desserts!

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining here tonight with two great friends, and it was an experience worth sharing. We started with the yellowtail jalapeño, which was absolutely amazing bright, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The toro with caviar was so decadent I could have easily ordered two more. The spicy tuna on crispy rice was fine, but didn't quite hit the same high notes as the other dishes. From there, we enjoyed a wide selection of sashimi, including octopus and a few other fish whose names escape me, but each bite was fresh and beautifully presented. The salmon and snow crab roll was another highlight, delicate yet flavorful. We paired everything with a few bottles of sake, including the house brand in the blue bottle. Personally, it reminded me of Vicks 44 from childhood (not my favorite), but the rest of the table loved it, so clearly it's a crowd-pleaser. Dessert was a perfect finale: the bento box with warm chocolate cake and green tea ice cream, plus the banana bread pudding, both indulgent and satisfying. Service was impeccable throughout. Our server moved swiftly and seamlessly, making the three-hour dinner feel like it flew by in ten minutes. Fantastic food, impeccable service, and the joy of sharing it all with great friends made this night truly special.

Every time we visit we love the food and service. This time we tried this delicious sushi which is seasonal. It was topped with truffle oil. It is a must try.

Drinks were the highlight--great martinis and well-made cocktails. That said, our bill was over $600, and none of us left full. Portions are tiny. Go for drinks and ambiance, but I'd skip the food.

Most, if not all, the fish and ingredients were flown straight from Japan. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious! My favorites were the shirako and monkfish liver nigiri since these are delicacies that you don't see often in omakase menus in the US! I was so excited to see such variety thru out the meal. Rockpool sounds a little generic for a sushi spot, but the quality of the fish is quite delicious for the value. In particular, the lunch omakase is probably amongst the best sushi deals I've had for a sitdown spot. I'd definitely take it into consideration over let's say... Sugarfish. People often talk about how "fresh" fish tastes at sushi restaurants, but I feel like the best raw fish is often aged to an extent. The taste of the fish here is good, but I don't feel that they always use the best cuts. For example, the otoro was tasty, but it was not as marbled as I'm used to seeing. That said, another critically important and often overlooked component of sushi, particularly in handrolls and nigiri, is the rice. The rice here is delicately warm, pairs well with the fish, and has a pleasant, slightly sweet and vinegary taste. Simply delightful. The miso soup was also quite delicious, with a hearty, deep, set of flavors in the soup stock, and the scallop hand roll here was so good, I forgot to take a photo before devouring it haha. The lunch special should be enough food for most folks, but you're always welcome to add additional items to it! Now, is it good enough for me to try the more expensive dinner courses? Debatable, but it might be... just barely! The value proposition is hard to ignore, though. It's certainly one of the best deals you'll find on the Westside.
