While I was standing at the register waiting to order, the male employee working there was engaged in a conversation with another person and appeared to be openly gloating about drinking while on the job. Based on what I heard and observed, he also appeared to be impaired or intoxicated. He continued the conversation while ignoring me, even though I was standing directly in front of the register waiting to place an order. The tone of the conversation was not subtle or professional. It created a much darker and more uncomfortable atmosphere than what I would ever expect from a family-friendly café. I was there with my two children, and hearing someone behind the register casually talking about drinking while working was deeply concerning. Someone who appears intoxicated while operating a register and handling customers' money creates a terrible narrative for the business. It raises concerns about judgment, accuracy with transactions, food-service safety, and the overall professionalism of the workplace. Even if the employee was exaggerating or joking, it was still completely inappropriate to have that conversation openly in front of customers. What bothered me most was not only the conversation, but the fact that I was being ignored while it continued. I was waiting to spend money at the business, yet the employee seemed more interested in talking about drinking than acknowledging a customer. As a mother standing there with two children, the situation felt uncomfortable, disrespectful, and honestly a little disturbing. This is not my first time visiting Café Dulce, and I have never felt compelled to complain before. I understand that employees are human and that businesses have difficult days. However, the combination of overflowing trash cans, a dirty floor, being ignored at the register, and an employee appearing impaired while discussing drinking on the job crossed a line for me. I am sharing this privately because I believe management should have the opportunity to address it directly. Honestly, Cafe Dulce is the go-to spot if you need a drink and a quick snack!! But honestly even their breakfast burritos and sandwiches are DELICIOUS! (Ask for some salsa on the side-you won't regret it ) I usually get the blueberry matcha with almond milk but today I was recommended by Daniel the Iced blueberry passion with agave. Came here for coffee as I wait for my dinner reservations and friends to arrive. I ran into a friend and she picked out a few treats to try and take with me. The mochi twist was delicious and I knew it would be because I like mochi donuts. What I didn't expect to be delicious and likely my favorite treat here was the dinosaur churro. If she didn't insist I think I would choose that last or gave it away. BUT I did try it and fell in love with it. Such a cute cafe in the Little Tokyo area! I just popped in quickly to grab a Vietnamese Coffee, line was long and out the door but I was able to order and receive my drink in about 10-15 minutes. All the people working inside were very nice and very quick. The donuts and pastries looked so good! I will have to come back and try the creme brulee donuts when they are in stock. The cafe food looked really good too! I was not able to find out if they validate parking though, I was in such a rush. Vietnamese Coffee is good, very strong and bitter tasting if you like that! But - I gotta say - so creamy and so good. They have several types of tea lattes; I opted for the London Fog, no sweetner. This was also my first time visiting the Japanese Village Plaza. There's paid lots to get here and you'll have to walk into the plaza. Inside is quite small so the line can extend out the door and the waiting area is narrow with limited seating. It's definitely best to take things to-go. The staff are nice and helpful. The drinks arrive at a decent time and the line moves quickly enough. I got the blueberry roti and it was really good! It had the right amount of sweetness. The cookie crust doesn't easily collapse. Also, there's a good ratio of compote to bun so it's not a gooey mess. You really get the taste of blueberries. While my husband and I were exploring Little Tokyo in LA on a Sunday morning around 9:00 A.M, one of the few places that was open was Café Dulce, right next to the Little Tokyo parking garage. The café offers a wide range of baguettes, croissants, meringues, brick toast, and other pastries that are made fresh on site! It was really busy when we visited early Sunday morning. Café Dulce also serves a rotating selection of specialty coffees. There is Vietnamese style iced coffee, Hong Kong style milk tea, Masala chai latte, and other drinks. There is also plenty of seating inside and outside as well. My husband and I ended up eating outside at the patio with one of the tables that was available. It was great to be able to eat and have a coffee while looking at all of the different stores. Current hours for the Café are the following Monday - Thursday: 8:00 A.M - 7:00 P.M Friday - Saturday: 8:00 A.M - 9:00 P.M Sunday: 8:00 A.M - 8:00 P.M We ended up getting the following Coffee Brick Toast (Original): This was good. It was slightly sweet, and soft bread on the inside. One of their baked goods that looked like a dinosaur egg. It had sugar on the outside, fried, and the dough was soft on the inside. It also had walnuts inside the bread. It reminded me slightly of a malasada. It was delicious and my favorite item at Café Dulce! I enjoyed my time at Café Dulce. Wow! Haven't tried this spot till recently and I know they've been around for years. We are always in this Little Tokyo plaza but we typically get coffee beforehand since it's a bit of a drive with LA traffic lol. Finally decided to grab coffee from here and it did not disappoint! Super simple but creamy, strong, and delicious. It's literally the perfect latte and love that I didn't need any alterations. The line was out the door but that's always the case here! Came here for the Zenless Zone Zero collaboration with Cafe Dulce a few weeks ago in the morning. Line was kind of insane, but moved fairly quickly. They actually forgot my order, unfortunately, and I had to remind them after a few people who ordered after me got their orders before me. No harm though, I understand they had a lot of people. I ordered a slice of the oreo cheesecake and a matcha muffin for my friend. My friend wasn't a big fan of the muffin as it had nuts and claimed that it detracted from the flavor. I also thought the oreo cheesecake was just fine, but pretty large and fair for the pricing. I kept meaning to come here, so glad I finally had an excuse, but normally end up eating elsewhere.
