Magnolia Bakery is known for the banana pudding and I was very excited to finally try them out! Got their original flavored banana pudding and it was pretty good! Not too sure if I overhyped it but didn't find anything special with it. But I liked how it was not overly sweet and liked how there were decent amount of bananas in there. Depending on whether you like the pudding or the "bread" part, there werent that much pudding in the cup. Service was easy and fast. Was very tempted to get other things in the shop but will save it for another time

This was my first time trying Magnolia Bakery, and I absolutely loved it! My friends surprised me with one of my favorite cakes the Hummingbird Cake. The combination of banana and pineapple was so flavorful, and the cream cheese frosting was seriously SO good! Every bite was moist, rich, and perfectly sweet. It was such a thoughtful surprise and made the celebration even more special. If you love banana, pineapple, and cream cheese frosting, the Hummingbird Cake is a must-try!

Found some street parking and was able to just go in and pick up. There is seating inside and out to enjoy your pastries. They have cakes and cookies but my go to is the banana pudding. They are offering a chocolate version for you chocolate lovers. Service was fast
It's a white colored building inside and out and so pleasant. People are friendly and they'll help you with the menu. I got the carrot cake banana pudding, which for me was ok. I'm not big on creamy and sugary things and I'm more of a chocolatey person. They had lots of different options for cookies, brownies, banana pudding, and drinks.

Banana pudding lived up the hype and was decadent :) The red velvet cake was the worst red velvet cake I have ever had !!! the choice of buttercream instead of cream cheese was questionable too. The ted velvet banana pudding cookie was meh. I appreciated the shop had options and was accessible. I tried to strike up conversation with the hostess about the history of the shop and its roots. She knew nothing and told me to Google the history.. I found this sad and off putting. Especially for a shop that has fame and a following. Glad I tried, won't be making another visit. There's plenty of great copycat recipes online of the banana pudding that do it justice!!
You have to try the classic banana pudding, it's delicious!! They have lots of other treats too, like cookies, cakes and cupcakes. I also really enjoyed the vanilla cheesecake. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The location has a good amount of seating inside and some outdoor seating as well. Street parking only, so that can be a little tricky. The ambiance was really nice, felt fresh and clean.
Stopped in for a quick gift for my graduate . Got some vanilla cupcakes and two strawberry ! Super delicious oh and that salted caramel cookie o em yum !! Ten outta ten definitely recommend

It was packed with full of flavor and the portion is a lot for the small sized cup. Service was OK. Nothing to say here. The space was clean, open, and bright. Bakery lost its aesthetics completely, most of the things are prepackaged in plastic boxes. Cupcakes do not look or taste how they used to. Look at my today's photo and photo from their instagram post in 2024 to see what I mean. Unfortunately today's was my last purchase at Magnolia bakery. I am very sad that I have to go somewhere else for my weekly cupcakes.
Went here on a Wednesday afternoon, 3:30pm and wasn't busy at all. A couple of occupied tables, nice ambience, cute interior design/decorations, and a friendly male staff behind the counter. We ordered 2 large banana pudding, 1 small banana pudding, and a carrot cupcake to go. It's absolutely divine. I like anything banana based and was excited to try it! The term pudding did scare me a bit since I thought it might be sweet, but it is nowhere near sweet. It's light, airy, creamy, and tasty - all the perfect balance for a pudding. I grabbed one carrot cupcake since that's my favorite and it's also quite delicious. Will definitely be back!

Had no idea there was a Magnolia Bakery in Los Angeles. We picked up a chocolate cake for a party we were having. Something simple with a basic vanilla buttercream so everyone would be happy. The service was pretty quick and everyone was super nice. When it came time to eat the cake it was delicious, very soft and flavorful. There was a bit too much buttercream on the inside as filling for my liking, but I just didn't have to eat it. read more
Cupcakes: REALLY GOOD! Quite possibly the perfect cupcake? Banana Pudding: I'm from the South, so what I will say is it is definitely the closest to "correct" banana pudding that I've found in LA. It has a much higher ratio of whipped cream to pudding or banana, but it was real banana instead of that fake banana flavor you often see so I respect it. Key Lime Icebox Bar: Objectively good, nothing wrong with this. Very tart!! Staff was super friendly and to my surprise there was no one there when I went on a weekday. Cute space!! I'd be curious to come back and try the toppings on the banana pudding and I would definitely come back for the cupcakes. read more
OMG, my son got a vanilla cake for a family birthday party at Magnolia Bakery and it was so good! A little heavy with multiple layers, but the vanilla pudding inside was rich and the frosting was light and not greasy. Really good cake! read more

In agreement with all others - their banana pudding is out of this world. I originally visited Magnolia in NYC and was blown away by it, so when I was in the area in LA I needed more. The bakery is super cute inside and they have lots of tasty treats, but I just got the small banana pudding for everyone in our family to try. I would definitely come here again. read more

I have a bit of a sweet tooth, and have been trying different bakeries around the city. I finally tried Magnolia Bakery after years of driving by. I originally thought it was like breads, but to my surprise it's actually sweets! It's located on the very active and hip 3rd Street near the Beverly Connection. The service was great; everyone was super nice and even let us try some samples to see if we liked the flavors. That was really appreciated. The sweet treats were great. We got 4 different cupcakes. They were all moist and flavorful. I really liked the cream cheese frosting on the red velvet one! We also got the banana pudding and the key lime cheese cake. Here is my story Magnolia Bakery opened its doors nearly 20 years ago; hauling its name and product across the land from New York and planted their roots in the west side of Los Angeles. Parking may be an arduous task. You may have to wait in line once inside. The original hype was the cupcake! The red velvet cupcake, or any cupcake for that matter. A group of my friends and I just had dinner when one of them suggested we all go to Magnolia Bakery for dessert. Only he had been here before and totally raved about the place. So we went. We get there at 8:40p; 20 minutes before they close. There are eight of us. With the exception of the only male employee and one female, we got the look of "why are you here right before closing?" Several of us felt that attitude. As the male employee was bringing in the patio tables and chairs, I assured him we'll order and get out before they closed. He was nice and said no worries. The one female employee (sorry, don't know her name; very nice young lady) was helpful in answering all of our questions. Then we all ordered and everything was put in plastic (tacky for a high-end bakery) containers. We ordered one each of the Red Velvet, PB&J, Carrot, and Chocolate cupcakes. They all were very flavorful and the icing was really creamy and delicious. The Red Velvet and Chocolate cupcakes were slightly dry. I'm sure they're made fresh daily, but tend to get a little dry at the end of the day. Within our group we also had a slice each of the Red Velvet, Carrot, and Chocolate Cake with Vanilla frosting. Again, the cakes were good, but the Red Velvet was a bit dry. All of the frostings were great. My friend who recommended and loves this bakery bought me a Banana Pudding to go. He said it's the best he's ever had. I had it the next day with my lunch, and it was good, but nothing extraordinary. Not for the price. Finally, at 8:55p we were asked to leave as they were closing. Really awkward. We were getting ready to go anyway and didn't appreciate the attitude, especially after dropping around $60+ among all of us. read more

Everyone and their mother hypes up Magnolia Bakery. My coworker texted me before my trip to LA telling me to go. I asked my dear friend Terry K. to take me and it was so yummy! The bakery is like a classic American bakery vibe, reminded me of Flo's V8 cafe in Disneyland lol. It's bright inside with all the white and light colored decor. There are a few tables inside to sit at and some outside as well. Ordering is easy--stand in line, look at the display case, order, and pay. Service was fine, minimal interactions, and fast. My friend and I split a Small Classic Banana Pudding Cup. We had to see what the hype was all about! It was so light, airy, and creamy. I loved the subtle hints of banana with the yummy vanilla layers and wafers. I'd love to come back to get more or try their blueberry one! Magnolia Bakery is worth a visit! I can see why it's so popular. Come for the pudding and only the pudding! The bakery is on the corner of W 3rd Street with street parking around. read more
4-Star Review - Magnolia Bakery Being from New York, it's nice having a little "back home" spot in my new city. I've loved Magnolia since my early college days. Yeah, the banana pudding recipe has changed a bit over the years, but it's still my go-to. I'm always down to try the new monthly pudding flavors, and they usually hit. The cakes? Sometimes a little on the dry side. But the pudding? Never disappoints. And do yourself a favor -- skip the small. Go for the medium or large. I tried their chocolate cake at an event once, and the rest was history. I've never tried anything else, no matter how much I want to LOL. I always order a full chocolate cake every year. And it's never disappointed. It's super rich in flavor and super moist, honestly, so good! I order online and it's always ready for pick up. The staff is also super friendly and attentive. The cakes the cakes the cakes oh my goodness see we initially came here to pick up a cake but I ended up grabbing one of the BEST banana puddings I think I've had in my life! It was literally creamy with chunks of pound cake in it and they even had it in red velvet and chocolate but I got regular, I'm explaining this goodness in detail because my friend and I INHALED these magical cups so I apologize for that but definitely put this on your list if you're stopping by!!! The service is lovely!!! Anything on west third in LA is nine times out of 10 going to be top tier and I love it! I also noticed they had VARIOUS cheesecakes in like key lime, vanilla, and red velvet options! If we weren't just picking up, I would have gotten a slice of literally everything it is cake paradise!!! The ambience is boujee but absolutely adorable!!! Their classic checkered floor gives a 50's vibe while they have an abundance of colorful CAKES around you it's overwhelmingly amazing!! We will definitely be back next time I'm down there! Magnolia Bakery is an old school bakery shop nestled in the heart of LA Hollywood, offering a heavenly banana pudding like no other. We were able to try the cookies & cream and original banana pudding for samples, but unfortunately the limited flavor was out-of-stock. We settled for the original banana pudding which was still super amazing (5/5); not too heavy in sugar or the cream department, with a fluffy mix of banana fruit, pudding, and bits of white cake leaving you wanting more. We couldn't finish the medium size so will be taking it home to try again tomorrow. Magnolia Bakery's banana pudding was memorable and I understand the hype. Glad I got to try it and would be down to have more in the future. read more
Service is chill, typical bakery experience and environment, don't really care about it much mainly into the food here. Banana pudding is where it's at, light fluffy, doesn't taste artificial or too sweet. Ratio of banana, bread, and pudding is a 9/10. Their cookies are really good too!!! Visited Magnolia Bakery after The Grove. There is street parking, but there isn't much. We parked in a lot across the street, but I wasn't sure whether or not we were allowed to park there. We came here for the famous banana pudding, and it did not disappoint. We bought several pints to take home. The banana pudding doesn't have an artificial flavor, just fresh bananas and light cream. There is bread inside and the pudding isn't stereotypical pudding , like a light whipped cream. So good!! They also have cakes and other bakery items. Store is clean and has displays of cakes and pastries. Staff is polite and service is fast. Highly recommend trying this bakery out for their banana pudding. Parking is tough but it's LA so it's expected. Nice store and staff. read more

Omg so good!! I got the banana pudding & loved it! They have three different sizes-- small, medium, & large. They have them pre-made & packaged so it makes for super fast pickup. The blueberry lemon seasonal flavor was good but I would just stick with the original flavor! read more

I've wanted to try Magnolia Bakery for awhile so I was happy to see one within walking distance from the bridal dress store that we were visiting. I had to get the famous banana pudding even though I don't like bananas. And since I've been craving carrot cake, I got a slice to share with my sister and daughter. We all thought the carrot cake was good but definitely nothing special. We have all had better. I took the banana pudding home to my husband who likes banana pudding. I bought a medium which was $7.95. He said it was really good. I had a couple of bites, avoiding the bananas. I thought it was pretty good and creamy. That was worth the price unlike the carrot cake. Service was ok but not super friendly and the bakery was clean. read more

Instead of travelling to NYC for my Magnolia Bakery fix, I can just coast down to LA. When I worked at Cedars, it was pretty easy to walk to this location and get their famous banana pudding. I like how there's different sizes, especially because my waistline does not need that much sugar. They have monthly special flavors. For July, it's a blueberry lemon banana pudding, which I personally associate more with Spring, not Summer. I got a small ($5.75) as well as a cold brew ($4.75) to wash it down with. The coffee is surprisingly not bad here. It's not watered down and is fairly decent! Inside seating is a little limited. There's only four small tables, but most people just take their sweets and go. Service was friendly and they also offer cakes and cookies in addition to the banana pudding. read more
The bakery was underwhelming. They did not have any of the red velvet pudding that we wanted to try and so we had to get regular. To make up for it they asked if we wanted a brownie on the house but it was hard like a cookie. The key lime cheesecake was way too sour. A key lime pie is different from a key lime cheesecake. Only go here for the banana pudding! It was so fluffy and flavorful! 10/10 for the banana pudding only. I was super excited to try their cake & cookie bar but it was soooo mid. The cupcake and frosting was mid too. The cake was so dense, you could tell it wasn't going to be good the second your fork touched the cake T-T. The cookie bar was overpowered by the coconut flakes and didn't have that classic cookie taste. The workers also weren't very friendly/nice oop. read more

Do they have any vegan / dairy-free options?
Unfortunately no, there are no vegan or dairy free options. They do carry a couple (as in two) items that are gluten free (not vegan) which are the mini flour less choc cake, and at the moment they have gluten free Nana pudding! Hope this helps. .

yes! especially the most popular flavors.
How long will the banana pudding last in the fridge?
I would eat it in 1-2 days! It still tastes amazing and just as fluffy, but the bananas do turn brown!
