Very disappointing experience, especially for a place in a city known for luxury and high standards. Less than a minute after ordering a croissant, I asked to cancel it, but I was told a refund was not possible because the manager was not available. The way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily difficult and lacked basic customer service. Unfortunately, the coffee was equally disappointing. It tasted almost like water, with very little coffee flavor and no noticeable richness from the milk. What made the experience worse was the attitude I received when I asked to cancel the croissant. STAY AWAY!!! Stale food and terrible customer service. What started as a decent experience ended with me knowing I will NEVER come back. Camilla at the register was welcoming and my order came out fairly quickly. Unfortunately, the croissant was stale and tasted old, almost like it had been sitting in a basket with other food and absorbed an odd taste. I politely asked if I could exchange it for a bagel, which was actually cheaper, and told Camilla I didn't care about the price difference. When she went to ask the kitchen staff they proceeded to talk badly about me in Spanish. At that point, I said forget it and asked for a refund. Somehow, that became a problem too. Camilla told me there was no manager and that she couldn't issue the refund, even after speaking with a woman who clearly appeared to be able to refund. I feel like I was scammed by this place. I spent $30 on the Croque Madam $25, paid $4 extra for chips and $5 for a bottle of Evian water. The dish was super dry did not see any Bechamel and had no flavor. Even the presentation was lackluster. Looks like a piece of toast with an egg. 25 for this dish is a rip off. I recently tried their vanilla iced latte and it's strong, not-too-sweet and well-balanced. I don't know when they started offering cold brew and cafe-style coffee but I just noticed it on the menu and immediately jumped on it. In years past, I would grab my pastries and sandwiches and then head out to one of the cafes and coffee shops in the Farmers Market. I love that it is now a one stop visit for me. The first task on our list after arriving at The Grove was lunch. With so many great options, we wandered around the Farmer's Market until Michelina's colorful display of desserts drew us in. The open counter seating had menus already set out. The husband saw "Wagyu Pastrami" and we were done looking. We chose seats right in front of those beautiful desserts. I love a well prepared Croque Madame and they had it! The ingredients stayed true to the recipe -- the house made sourdough bread was so good, topped with a runny egg. The husband devoured his sandwich along with the truffle chips -- then proceeded to take pieces of my Croque Madame! After our last bites, we had to end with something sweet. We each chose a Macaron -- Pistachio and Cookies & Cream. So cute, so perfectly sweet. Service was quick, casual and friendly. My only (very minor) complaint is the lukewarm drinking water. This bakery is more like a bakery bar with high top chairs having you sit in front of glass with all their baked goods behind it. Everything is made in house and fresh daily - Not every bakery in th farmers market does this. You could walk up and sit down and order, or there's a register somewhere in the middle of all of the seats you could order from. Aside from the usual baked goods you can also buy breakfast items such as eggs bendicts, toasts and omlettes; for lunch try their many varities of sandwiches. I got their matcha and apricot drink - It came in a plastic can which was neat, but not for $8 and for a taste that was just medicore at best. Their orange juice is squeezed daily from real oranges (the machine is visible from the front) and is $6.50 with tax. Terrible experience at Michelina Los Angeles today. My partner and I are regular customers, but we have never been treated this poorly. From the moment we arrived, the person taking our order an Afro American girl was rude and kept rushing us because there were people behind us, even though we had only been looking at the menu for about a minute. We ordered two lattes and a croissant. The croissant was completely cold, so after touching it to check the temperature, I politely asked if it could be warmed up. The employee responded, "Oh my God, you touched it, I can't heat it now," and refused to help. Instead of offering a solution, asking a supervisor, or replacing it, they simply threw the croissant away. We ended up leaving without enjoying our food or drinks. This review specifically targets their most scrumptious cheese danish you can find in LA. I think you are getting the freshest cheese in this danish you can in any danish. I want to emphasize that the freshness of the cheese is what really sets them apart. The crispy flaky pastry is baked simply to perfection. Now, they have other notably delicious bakery items, but this is by far one their best I've tried. I come back at least once every few weeks on Sundays to get their cheese danish. If you come early (10am) and park in the farmer's market, they validate parking and you don't have to pay for 3 hours. So, after I get my parking validated when purchasing my danish I may wander off to get my shopping done before returning to the farmer's market. read more

This used to be favorite almond croissant. Hadn't had it in about a year so I went and that was about 3 days old. It was as so hard and chewy I could barely even bite it apart it was unforgivable. They're clearly not making their stuff fresh anymore despite the looks of it or they completely cut corners and changed the recipe and are using terrible ingredients now because idk what I ate (or shall I say didn't eat) but it was absolutely NOT what I used to get. Also, last time I ordered a sandwich from there to go (a year ago which is why I stopped going) they didn't put the basil on it and the sandwich had 3 ingredient basil being the main flavor profile.
