I haven't made it to their actual location yet, but I have a cuisine picky c-suite at work that I have to locate quality food for their lunches and Joan's has taken a seat at that rotational table for us. The professional way they package their meals for travel holds up well and the food arrives hot (or cold) and fresh and pretty well presented for traveling a few miles via delivery jockey. I really like the aesthetics of this place as it is a mix of a mini market, deli, cafe, and ice cream parlor. They have breakfast sandwiches, granola bowls, pancakes, omelettes, burgers, hot dogs, salads, bakery pastries and cake slices. There's a fridge full of various fresh cheeses and another fridge with ready to bake breads and pastries that you can take home to bake yourself. Lots of variety snacks throughout the store; often ones that you do not find at regular grocery stores. For example, they have dang Thai Rice chips, which are bomb good. I used to only be able to find these on Thrive market, so it's good to see a local place sell them. Staff were all friendly and willing to answer any questions you may have. Interesting note is that they have various checkout counters throughout the store; it doesn't matter which counter you pay at. From the deli, I have tried... 1. Kale Salad with Spicy Peanuts & Queso Fresco It's technically supposed to be a healthy dish, but the sauce was too sweet for my liking. I think the sweetness is from the honey & the dried cranberries in it. Otherwise, the kale was fresh and spicy peanuts added a little bit of kick 2. Still such a great place. It reminds me of the Denver marketplace for some reason and that makes me happy. The food is hearty and fresh. The interior is spacious so you don't feel like you're sitting on top of one another like many other similar cafes that have the order at the register and seat yourself deal. The one thing that made me cringe was when the young man brought my latte and not only was the drink spilling over the side as he walked (the saucer was full of my latte) but his thumb was stuck straight into the drink. There was a major cheese pull when I was picking up half of the sandwich so I was even more excited to try it! I do wish it had a bit more flavor, but all in all it was a pretty good sandwich! It's one of my friend's favorite sandwich places so so took me here while visiting. I noticed that they just started serving up smashed burgers so I had to give it a try. Friendly ordering experience and, after taking a number and finding a seat, the food came quickly. I like that you can serve yourself fresh tap water out of a tap in a nice sized cup - you aren't punished for not buying a drink if you just want tap water. Plenty of seats outside as well as inside and the food comes out really fast. I didn't know if coffee came with free refills. I would never know since no one ever came back to refill the coffee. If that's the case, they gave way too much cream on the side for one cup of coffee, which was actually pretty decent for a regular brew. The Chinese chicken salad had pretty much only one kind of lettuce in there. When did this place get so much roomier? A bad habit has started where I work until 8am, then head right over to Joan's for some crispy bacon, hash browns, and sometimes a drink. Parking is still available at this early part of the day, but sometimes they have those tandem spots in the back (careful though, that ally is the worst for potholes), good if you are quickly in and out. As mentioned, it's quite spacious now and has two doors instead of the one. Plenty of seating and people with their dogs enjoying breakfast. They've been consistent, and that is all I need. One day, I'll re-try the burger they now offer, and maybe their tarragon chicken salad if I feel like eating healthy. But for tasty, not necessarily healthy eats, Joan's has you covered. read more
