I usually come here for bread. It's either here or a place on Larchmont. I don't know which one is better. They're both good in their own ways. But the last time I was here, I was stuck on a work call so I gave my friend my card and had him order. He picked up a cinnamon roll. If you've never seen the cinnamon roll here before, it is massive. I've looked at it on many occasions but always decided against it. But he got it and then I tried some and was absolutely blown away by how good it is. My friend used to manage restaurants back in the day, so he's pretty familiar with food. He said this was the perfect cinnamon roll. Do I think it's perfect? I don't know. I haven't had a better cinnamon roll so probably. But then by calling it perfect, it closes the door for me to ever find one that is better. I think my friend is around 50, so he's lived out his food adventures, so I think him calling this the perfect cinnamon roll is appropriate for his food journey. But I still have hopes to one day find better. Anyway I got another cinnamon roll here today. It's still as amazing as it was last time and it's fun to get so much of the spread that goes onto the cinnamon roll on the side. Absolutely love this thing but I might need to stay away for the long term because sweets = weight gain haha. But we'll see if I can stick to just buying bread here... Oh I gotta ginger cookie here before and it was really good too. Everyone at the counter is nice and attentive but I've never actually dined in here, so I'm not too sure about the wait staff. First time here and everything looked amazing. I tried the pastrami sandwich on their homemade sourdough--so good. The orange juice was fresh and perfectly balanced, not too sweet or sour. I loved the chai latte too, smooth and not overly sweet. Highly recommend the Wagyu pastry and cookies--they're not greasy or too buttery, just right. Pira was very kind and patient while I took my time deciding, and even offered to slice my loaf. Great service and nice interior as well. I'll definitely be back soon! read more

Another great visit! My regular stop for breakfast when I have an appointment close by. I order the Big Breakfast and it is beyond filling! One of the best bakeries in town for sure. Came with a friend for breakfast on a weekday and there was no wait for a table. We dined in, plus got a bunch of items to go. I tried: + Shakshuka + Cold brew + Oat Poppy Cookie + Kouign amann + Peach Morning Bun + Cinnamon roll + Apple Millet Cake + Avocado toast with over easy egg + Chocolate chip cookie The oat poppy cookie is a sleeper hit - one of the best and chewiest cookies ever. Kouign amann, avocado toast and chocolate chip cookie were my other favorites. Cinnamon roll is comically large and was a huge hit in the meeting I brought it to later. Apple Millet Cake and cold brew were also great. Shakshuka was the only miss - just kind of runny and off - it paled in comparison to the avo toast. Ok been here twice now and can say I am a fan. They are currently re-doing the outdoor dining area, it didn't affect my experience at all. It will be nice to have that option once finished. Inside is clean and fresh, nice big booths. Menu covers all the sandwich and salad greats- tuna, blt, caesar salad, just a few. Their bread is amazing. Do note however if you get something on a baguette, make sure you have solid strong chompers- the homemade sourdough is one sturdy loaf! I had the blt this time and it was sublime! Lightly toasted sliced sourdough. mayo, juicy tomato, top-notch crispy bacon, and lettuce in perfect ratios created a stellar sammie. BLTs are simple but hard to master. Lodge got it right with top quality components and that delicious sourdough. Companion is crazy for the vegan Caesar and I have to agree- it is top-notch. The croutons are so yum and the dressing is perfect- tart with a citrus punch. I washed it down with a mint lemonade and I have to say that was on-point too. Got a loaf to go, too. Why not? I've been meaning to try this for a while, especially knowing a bit of their backstory. The place was founded in 2015 by two chefs who started baking naturally leavened bread out of an apartment in Culver City. What began as a tiny passion project quickly grew into one of L.A.'s most respected artisan bakeries. The bread here really is definitely the star. The country loaf and seeded loaf have that deep caramelized crust and open, airy crumb that only comes from long fermentation. You can even buy their sourdough starter, which tells you everything you need to know about how seriously they take the craft. The six of us ordered a mix of breakfast items, and ate family style. Everything came out looking super Instagrammable. The croissant was incredibly flaky with those perfect, shattering layers that rival what you'd find in Paris. The savory baked egg dish, served in a sizzling cast-iron mini pot alongside rustic sourdough, was comforting and deeply satisfying. The eggs were well cooked and seasoned, and the slightly charred outer edges added a rich, custardy depth of flavor. The coffee was excellent too. They use Verve Coffee, and the roast had a nice balanced flavor, not too sour and not burnt, just smooth and tasty. Service was great. You order at the counter, and the food comes out fairly quickly despite how busy it gets. Overall, a great place for a warm, satisfying breakfast with high-quality bread and pastries at the center of everything they do. We went on a Saturday morning and didn't have an issue finding parking. There were plenty of spots available right out front. I had the breakfast sandwich and coffee while my partner had the chocolate cake and a croissant. I thought the portions were generous and was surprised at the size of the breakfast sandwich, it was a large sandwich. Everything was good! They were kind and helpful and went above and beyond the call of duty to see that we were pleased. And then the best thing happened, an employee named Jess came to me personally to make sure we were having a great experience , she had been swamped and she wanted to be sure that she wasn't short or neglectful in the rush of lunch. I come here often at least once a week. Staff is always super welcoming and it's clean inside. My go to is a just a almond vanilla latte with a shot of espresso and it's around $13 steep yes but it's the only cafe close to where i work. Their turkey sandwiches are so good! I had a great breakfast here. The restaurant itself is brightly lit, spacious, and with an appetizing display case at the center of the room. You order at the counter, get a number, and then are served fairly promptly. Water is self-service at the back. I had a breakfast sammie with sausage and it was huge with ample ingredients. Egg was perfectly cooked, the sausage adding a nice salt component, the bread was fluffy with a nice crust. It was served with a steak knife that was absolutely necessary for carving it into a more manageable two pieces. I'd love to try their egg salad sammie and shakshuka next time. read more

Lodge Bread on Robertson is one of my go to spots when I want breakfast, coffee, and a couple hours of pretending I am very productive on my laptop. I used to frequent the old Pico location and this one feels like its slightly more grown up cousin. It is bigger, a little more spread out, and easier to settle into without feeling like you are stealing someone else's table. The pastries are solid, but I almost always end up ordering the breakfast sandwich or the shakshuka because they are consistently satisfying and hard to stray from. Coffee does the job, the space is comfortable for working, and the service is friendly without hovering. It is the kind of place that makes you say "I will just stay for one more coffee" and then suddenly it is noon. read more

They come runny -- an ick factor for me -- but I quickly discovered it's one of the top menu items for a reason. Housed in a hot cast-iron ramekin, they arrive looking like a poofy quiche or soufflé. You then stick your fork in and stir it for several seconds while it bakes . The result is divine. Like a soft scramble infused with melted cheese and herbs. Came here for breakfast one morning. Had their dirty chai (our favorite) and a vanilla latte that was equally as good. The clear winner though was their berry scone. Amazing. 15/10. I could eat 10 of them. They were right out of the oven and sheer perfection. Then we had their breakfast sandwich and their ham and butter sandwich. Now this is going to be an unpopular opinion but although both sandwiches were really good their bread was really dry/tough. Bummed us out. But then again I am just a fan of fluffy bread. The service was absolutely great and fast. Parking is street and not too horrible as we went at 8am on a weekday and found metered parking. The menu has a huge variety for bread lovers and although I've only had the Seasonal Jam Toast and Ricotta Jam Toast for takeout, they have consistently been so good and filling. I had been seeing this place every time I go to my Pilates class and it's always busy, but I never went in. Today I decided to try it fir the first time and was blown away at how good it was. First off the ambience is chill and relaxing open and well lit. It has an outdoor indoor patio as well as indoor seating. They have a nice selection on the menu breakfast options and lunch options as well as plenty of drinks I got the hot chai tea latte and it was delicious. I also got the pastrami sandwich And it was one of the best pastrami that I've had every sandwich they make is on fresh baked bread made in house their sourdough is so good. The pastrami had no fat on it. It was thick and flavorful. The service was very welcoming and friendly and I've been back two times already to try something else on the menu. I think this place is such a great Sunday funday spot. It's like you walk into a Palm Springs Hideaway. The staff is very kind and love to answer questions with a smile. The food is very good, I have tried several dishes here now and they were all great. The egg sandwich is small but packed with flavor. I don't particularly like the coffee here, but everyone has their own coffee tastebuds. Do not leave without trying their Jerusalem Bagel or the gigantic pastries. Update: Upgraded from 1 to 3 after the managment contacted me to return to their store so they can make things right after selling me a loaf of burnt bread. However, it makes little sense for me to take time off during work, deal with west LA traffic and hunt for paid street parking over this $10 loaf of supposedly artisan bread. This is lessons learned for everyone. I should have inspected the wrapped load of bread before leaving and management needs better supervision of their staff. read more

I get my nails done right down the way from this spot that I've been wanting to try. I was hungry. I got a pastrami sandwich. The service was amazing. The person taking my order was knowledgeable. Told me all about it and I was very excited to try this pastrami sandwich with the coleslaw and the Russian dressing. So I waited for my name to be called as I took my order to go. It's brand new so it's clean. It's nice smells good and everybody there is young and has good energy but I don't know. I don't think the sandwich is worth $22. The bread was soggy and it hadn't even been sitting there that long. I wish I would've ordered the bread toasted to the side and then put everything on it when I got home by the time I got to it, it was just one soggy mess! read more

NO DOGS ALLOWED! We live in the neighborhood behind the location. We went there this morning because we were walking our dogs and thought it would be a great place to stop to get a quick bite to eat for breakfast. The first thing you see when you walk in is a sign that says "no dogs allowed", it does not even say that it excludes service animals. I thought nothing negative of it and went in to order. When walking in, the location seems very stale and almost sterile like a hospital cafeteria, it's very echo-y and "blah". After we ordered, we took our number and made sure to sit in the patio area on the other side of the sign as to not cause a problem with having dogs. As our food came one of our dogs tried to smell it and we told him "no". His nose touched the side of the table and the server made sure to quickly reprimand us and let us know that dogs are not allowed to touch the tables. I always thought it was odd that they opened so late, because so many people in the neighborhood walk their dogs in the mornings and it would be a great place to grab a coffee to take on our walk. Now it makes sense and I understand that dog owners are not the clientele they are looking for. We will just stick to Starbucks to get our coffee and get our pups a pup-cup.
