First kosher dining experience! Heard of this new brunch spot in the area and came with my friends to check it out. Everything was delicious but the highlight was definitely the pastries for me! Everything about this place is great. Checked the reviews as my son and I were walking Pico looking for a hearty breakfast. Saw the 4.7 stars review and tried it. I would give it 4.9-5 stars. For morning/lunch food, there are only a few places around L.A. that are their equal. Attentive staff. Our waiter Alfonso could not have been more hospitable. Checked in on us several times despite Lamalo being (understandably) busy. Our food was top notch and hearty enough to take half for lunch a few hours later. When I inquired about dessert even though we were stuffed, it sounded too good to pass up. Comfortable, bright atmosphere with plenty of outside seating as well. Love the Pico vibe with a clear ethnic majority. People heavily engaged in conversation and great food/drink. Guessing that many locals make this place a daily/regular meeting choice. Food, service, atmosphere/vibe all great. Looks like it's a popular place so would suggest coming on the earlier or late side of typical eating hours. Went in for a casual brunch on a Friday and it was packed with people! The lady at the front was lovely and the servers were nice as well. The food was very good and we enjoyed the sandwiches we ordered! The one downside was there were just a lot of flies everywhere constantly landing on our food. Hard to control with doors opening all the time but certainly impacted the experience. Would definitely try it out again! read more

Incredibly generous portions in a cozy spot. Seating is very limited but the staff do a good job keeping the tables turning. Came here for lunch with my mom. She got a Cesar salad and I got the penne pasta with pesto. Portions very generous in 2025 for the price and the soup and pasta came along with a large side of bread. I recently went here for brunch with a party of seven and had a great experience! Despite Lamalo not taking reservations, we were able to get a table as soon as most of our group arrived. We had great service throughout our meal. The portion sizes and the prices (especially for a kosher restaurant) were both good. I shared a banana date smoothie, the morning glory sandwich, and the boureka sandwich. The banana date smoothie was outstanding-flavorful, rich, creamy, with a good banana/data ratio. The boureka sandwich was fine but nothing noteworthy. The morning glory sandwich was fantastic, with delicious crusty bread and the onion jam bringing the sandwich together. I would recommend Lamalo for a nice brunch, kosher or otherwise! read more

oh my gosh, I love this place! It does get quite crowded as it is a breakfast brunch lunch restaurant. They don't take reservations. The food is really very very good. It's all dairy and really quite yummy. The baked goods are out of sight. They get their baked goods from Mench bakery, and I am finding myself almost every Friday going in for their challah and Babka. On weekdays, I often will go in and get a loaf of their seeded sourdough, which is just so so good. In fact I think they're big goods are better than Lodge. The servers are friendly and clearly are very busy. The ambience is truly a very lively place and although there is probably tables for seating in the range of 20 or so the place gets packed. read more

As someone who does not keep kosher, it's normally hard for me to say I actually like a kosher restaurant... but Lamalo is one of my favorite local gems! Depending on how busy they are, you are either sat at a table and they take your order, or you order at the counter and seat yourself. I have been in both instances. My go to order is the sunshine b'boker. It's so much food that if I eat it for breakfast, I don't eat again until dinner. I also tasted the grilled cheese and Mac and cheese. (Are you sensing a theme here? ) both were also delish. The house bread is to die for. The saddest part about this is that you can't buy a loaf of the house bread to take home. Super fresh and flakey baked goods, and egg dishes. I also had an iced latte that I quite enjoyed. In all honesty, I went here with a friend because the retaurant is kosher (I personally do not keep kosher). Really cute place on an unassuming corner of Pico near Robertson. Tables inside and a few on the sidewalk. Nice ambience. Sweet wait staff. We had some delicious dishes. Salad with feta, olives, plus tahini was huge and fresh. All ingredients were chopped nicely. Companions had a breakfast "burrito"-an interpretation of a burrito- very light and more like a wrap. This place is Kosher so do the math. Another dish was miso salmon- a beautiful dish and also very tasty and fresh. I had brunch with two of my adult daughters. Wow. Is this place great. We had an avocado sandwich with eggs (sunny side up, per my request), breakfast burrito, grilled cheese and tomato soup, and a sunshine B boker. Each one was tasty. The burrito came with a spicy verde sauce served separately, so you can add to your needs. The tomato sauce has something special - not sure what it was, but it was darn good. Just tried this amazing restaurant and bakery this morning. I'm so glad we did. The friendliest staff made our breakfast so enjoyable. The food was amazing. The bread is a real standout. We got the morning glory focaccia and the egg and cheese croissant. We will definitely be back. Their cookies are incredible, too! First time here, and the food is great. As a caveat I walked in knowing the cafe specializes in kosher style food. Although my diet doesn't require kosher, I wanted to try something new. Walking in it was busy, but the service is quick and excellent and the food came out in a timely manner. The place is clean and ambiance is pleasant. I was also pleased with the prices. LA cafe's feel hugely overpriced lately, and this place was fairly priced. I ordered the salmon burger, and vanilla latte. The salmon burger was solid and the salad and potatoes it came with were great. The latte was flavorful while not being too sweet. I was gifted a blueberry pie by the manager or owner unprompted which was a pleasant surprise. One of the best pies I've ever had. The bottom was moist while the top kept a nice crunch. As well as the berries complementing it all together. While free food doesn't sway my review, it showed me that the management is active in take care of guests. I'll be coming back! read more

I ordered here for a 13 person lunch at the request of the office. I arrived to pick up and the wait was a bit long. I didn't mind because the restaurant ambience is nice and the staff, very attentive. I even further didn't mind when I tasted the salmon. It was absolutely delicious! The plate I tried is called "Miso Crispy salmon Salad Bowl." It was sort of confusing and a let down, or so I thought. BUT WOW! The mango with a cabbage salad, perfect rice and avocado all worked together to support the amazingly prepared crispy salmon. Just sweet enough to accent the salmon- it was a huge hit with me. 10/10 Thank you LAMALO cooks, you are true culinary artisans! read more

I had to requestall of the above . Latte was good . my party arrived and we all ordered. 3/4 entrees were served all together. the 4th hadnt arrived for a long while at which point the guest inquired about it. I wish I could give this place a 5 star rating but it just lacks the umph to get there. It's a fun brunch place with cute inside vibes but a few minor things to improve: - The kale in a kale salad needs more massaging - I don't want to eat kale that hasn't had its tender love and care - The lasagna is really good but is a little small. Everyone knows that kosher foodies need their portions large - What's the deal with no wifi? Perhaps a Sunday morning is not the best time to come to this place, but it was very disorganised and unfriendly. Literally zero service as I came in. I started queuing for what looked like take away. When I asked if I can sit down and order I was directed to a table. Then it took ages for someone to give me a menu. When I tried to order something, first the guy said he will get someone to take the order, then he came back and said I have to queue up to order at the bar. I could have been queuing up all this time I was waiting to order. So I walked out. The food did not look particularly appetising. I am not sure why this place is so highly rated. read more

Every latte I've gotten, even with mixing is grainy sweet coffee slop and the matcha isn't too great either (way better options in the area), but if you have a sweet tooth for pastries it's not too bad. Decadent cream donuts, mochi donuts, savory sausage donuts, and creme brulee ones too. Shareable, but something I'd need to down with milk or some water.

I asked whether they had any others, and an employee told me they had been flash frozen and were in the freezer. She brought one out for me. I asked, "Was this made today?" and was told yes, so I bought it. I was very disappointed when I got home and cut it in half. I understand that a handmade dessert won't look exactly like a photo, but this was far from what I had expected. I called the bakery to explain my concern. The person I spoke with did not let me finish explaining and insisted, "That could never happen." She also asked why I was saying that and told me to bring the mochi back. I had gone out of my way to visit early that morning, so being told to make another trip was frustrating. The phone conversation left me more upset than the mochi itself. This was my second visit. I had also had a disappointing experience with a green onion or garlic bread on my first visit, but the Instagram photo made me want to give the bakery another chance. It all looked fantastic and tasted brilliant too. But what really makes La Provence special is the people. A special thank you to Carmen who took my order and made me feel so welcome. And Michelle, who was equally warm and delightful. Their friendliness and genuine hospitality made a wonderful lunch even better. It was also nice to learn that Michelle's father, Luis, now runs their Palm Desert location. There's just something so charming about that family connection, wonderful people bringing that same spirit of hospitality to another community, too. La Provence is the kind of place where you just want to linger, enjoy that meal and just appreciate the atmosphere. Wonderful food, exceptional service and people who make you feel right at home. As a customer who was staying at the establishment, I found this inappropriate and unwelcoming. What made the situation much worse was her reaction when I went back and asked why my cappuccino had been served that way. Instead of listening to my concern or simply explaining what happened, she laughed and joked about it. I found that behavior disrespectful and completely unprofessional. I have worked in the hospitality industry for many years, and customer service is just as important as the product being served. Mistakes happen, but laughing at a customer who raises a legitimate concern is unacceptable. I sincerely hope the owner or management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the situation. Customers deserve to be treated with courtesy, professionalism, and respect. Based on my experience today, I cannot recommend this place.
