Modern Bread & Bagel in Beverly Hills does gluten free bagels right. Fresh, chewy, loaded with flavor, good enough that you forget they're gluten free. Great sandwiches, pastries, and coffee too. Plenty of comfortable seating inside and outside, making it an easy spot to grab a bagel and hang out.

I will start at the end: I walked out with a Bananas Foster Hot Honey Cinnamon Bun and Glazed Donut. Since everything is gluten free, this place is like Willy Wonka's for Celiacs. Young man at the counter was recently here from New Orleans and I was wearing my 1987 jazz fest T-shirt, which happened to be the first of my 20 Jazz fest experiences. I went for the bananas Foster because I've eaten at Brennan's restaurant in New Orleans that invented the bananas Foster. I later ate the bananas Foster cinnamon bun and it, like the donut, had to be eaten in 2 separate stages. Like the 12 stages at JazzFest, this joint is an embarrassment of riches. I have tried sweet and savory items here and they have all been delicious. Well done.

I've been to Modern Bread and Bagel three times. Their location is great. Right in the heart of Beverly Hills. They are just South of Sephora on Beverly Drive. They have comfy indoor and outdoor seating. Very easy to pick up to-go. They have brunch all day. Special menus for the month. Coffee and specialty coffee drinks. They are 100% gluten free and certified kosher. I revisited Modern Bread and Bagel twice more since my last review (which was delivery). Service in house was great both times. But the quality of the food was vastly different. On one visit we ordered the raspberry matcha loaf, orange loaf, and chocolate zucchini loaf. The raspberry matcha was my favorite of the three. We also got the potato leak quiche which was yummy. I ordered the Farmer's Market bagel but when I got home I noticed they gave me Spicy Feta bagel instead. Tried calling to let them know but they didn't pick up. It turned out to be a happy accident. We wanted to go back and get it again. We liked it so much. I also got the zaatar tuna which was tasty but it was a bit too crunchy for me with lots of celery. Some people may like it that way but I like it more smooth. My next visit however, was not a success. It was, again, a to-go order. Sadly, none of the food tasted fresh. I ordered pastries and the Spicy Feta again. The bagel on the Spicy Feta was hard as a rock. We were unable to cut it with a knife. Such a shame. A sharp difference from the time before. At a bagel shop I expect consistency in the quality of bagels. The pastries, although beautiful to look at, didn't seem like they were made that day. I tried to call the restaurant multiple times to let them know about the bagel and pastries but no one ever answered. I was disappointed that I couldn't reach out to a team member to solve the issue. They really need to get someone to answer the phone. I really wanted to give this restaurant 4 or 5 stars because it has so much to offer and the concept is wonderful. However, the quality of the food was inconsistent and there was no way to reach out to them to solve the issue. It's a gamble on what kind of meal you will get and it shouldn't be that way. I really hope this problem gets fixed because this place has so much potential and I really did enjoy the food the first two times.

Cute small place with all gluten free breads and bagel sandwiches. Vegetarian/vegan as well. We got their blueberry danish - tasted just like a wheat one - and a donut. We have had some other gf donuts before and they werent great - this one was a lot closer to a regular donut. I also got the spicy feta open toast on sourdough - VERY GOOD. I loved the chili crisp and the fried eggs were cooked perfectly. VERY generous avocado and portion size. My husband got the g'day mate - i think that was it - with avo, egg, and vegan sausage. I think he liked mine better. I would definitely come back and get something with smoked salmon. The sourdough was great too. We also got the latke tots - they werent my favorite but the truffle aioli was very tasty. The woman behind the counter was so helpful since it was our first time and answered all our questions. Theres a parking structure not far away.

Ordered a bagel from here and it was pretty good, but I have to say, they went a little cray with the amount of cream cheese they put. Every bite I would take, a bunch of cream cheese would be pushed out of my bagel and also get all over my hands and just be super messy. Don't get me wrong, I like a solid amount of cream cheese and I hate when there isn't enough and the bagel is dry. That being said, there can also be too much when you have a difficult time enjoying the bagel because you're eating mostly cream cheese. I got the everything bagel with chive cream cheese.

Delicious breakfast stop! The place is known for their gluten free bagels/breads so of course we had to try their bagels/breads. We got the Breakfast Grilled cheese on Pan Demin bread and the Morning Stretch on everything bagel. The onion jam on the grilled cheese just blew my mind. It just pushed a simple grilled cheese sandwich into another level. The Morning Stretch sandwich was very flavorful with the addition of their red pepper paste. Would recommend both. The sandwiches are not that big so you don't feel overly stuffed. Next time, we will have to order the grilled cheese on a bigger bread or bagel. We also tried one of their drinks, the apple pie latte. It was really good and not overly sweet. They also have several sweet pastries and deserts. We got the apple pie cinnamon roll and the potato leek quiche to go. The cafe has plenty of seating both inside and outside. Service was very friendly. Metered street parking available as well as free 2 hour public underground parking nearby.

I just stumbled upon Modern Bread & Bagel. They have a nice covered patio and are dog friendly. There is street parking available. I've gone on weekdays, but I'm sure parking can be challenging on a weekend. The first time I went, I ordered the Farmer's Garden on a toasted Everything Bagel. It took quite some time to get my order and people who ordered after me, received their orders before me. I decided to give them a pass on the long wait because things happen and plus the Farmer's Garden was delicious. The bagel was chewy in a good way and super flavorful. Their pastry/dessert case is filled with colorful donuts, cookies, babke's & more, which I decided I needed to come back for. I came back 2 days later and got the avocado/lemon on a seeded bagel. Again, it was fresh, chewy and satisfying. I took a cookie home to go, but again will need to come back to try a donut or breakfast sandwich. Service is very friendly and I received my order quickly. Great little find.

Tasty baked goods, you wouldn't believe that they are being gluten-free! The café is beautiful with plenty of inside as well as outdoor seating. They have a great variety of food and drinks available as well as to our free parking in the garage nearby. Prices are fair and the food is tasty and filling. Great option if you're looking for gluten-free goodies in the area!

Tasty, but not amazing. The everything bagel wasn't as chewy as I prefer but the staff was kind and friendly.

A short line on a Sunday but moved quickly. Friendly and open customer service willing to help and answer all questions. A good selection of breakfast and different types of bagel offerings.

Since I have been wanting to come here for a long time now I went to great pains to find parking nearby and was finally successful. I ordered the B.E.C. on Parmesan toast. It was tasty. But that's the only good thing I have to say about this place. When I was about to pay I could tell another customer was really irked off because it seems like they took too long with her order to be ready. And I noticed the same complaints on other reviews. So here I am waiting for my order for over 10 minutes for something that is a very simple sandwich to make. Not sure why it takes so long but I'm waiting in their nice patio area. Yet being surrounded constantly by gnats makes it frustrating and unappealing to eat here. Well I was just served with my sandwich and not sure why it was packed to go when I told them I wanted to eat at the restaurant. I was responded to with a nonchalant sorry as he plopped down my "to go" bag. Overall very unimpressed for this hype of a place. The vegan bacon was so hard that it was as if I was biting into an impossible tree bark! The presentation was less than mediocre. So disappointing since I had read so many good reviews about this place. Definitely not worth the money or my time.

I appreciated that my mom and I each had our own stand since most places do two of everything and place on one stand. The tea was good. It is a bit pricey - $135 per person for afternoon tea, an additional $65 per person for unlimited champagne. My mom & I both had the afternoon tea, she treated herself with the unlimited champagne and a $24 caviar bite which was so small, I would consider it half a bite. It was still worth a cute picture and my mom said it was delicious. The tip was included in our bill and was a little over $400. The servers are attentive and checked up on us often. I will say there is limited seating and although it is comfortable, it is a bit awkward. I would come back here for the aesthetics and look however as for food and traditional high tea, most likely not.

When I checked in, the host greeted me warmly and had my table ready immediately, even though I had made my online reservation less than 10 minutes earlier. The waitstaff also regularly checked in on me throughout my meal to make sure I had everything I needed. I started with the Thai Limeade, which had a nice kick from the rum and paired perfectly with its zesty, tangy flavor. I also ordered the Brussels sprouts, which I was initially hesitant about because the dish is topped with an over-easy egg. My hesitation was completely misplaced because they were amazing! If you love garlic, you'll definitely love these sprouts. For my main course, I ordered the Crispy Pork Noodles, and flavor-wise, they were incredible. The crispy pork is paired with vermicelli noodles, watercress, egg, and chili garlic, creating a unique and delicious combination that you really have to try for yourself. Another thing worth mentioning is the portion sizes -- they are HUGE! And I'm definitely someone who likes to eat, yet I still brought home a ton of leftovers while leaving the restaurant completely stuffed. Sure, the prices are higher than what I'm used to paying for Thai food, but you have to take into consideration the location -- Beverly Hills on Santa Monica Boulevard -- as well as the fact that the quality of the food is top-notch. In my opinion, the experience and portions make it well worth it. I can't wait to go back because there were so many other dishes on the menu that I wanted to try. Some years back, I studied the philosophy of Dr. Bach who gave us Bach flower remedies. His theory was that food should be esthetically pleasing, and that we would know what we should be eating by food meant for us being beautiful. Plant foods are beautiful, as Taste of Beauty demonstrates. There is nothing beautiful about the flesh of an animal on our plates, which is one reason among others that I am a lifelong vegetarian and most of the time, vegan. This is a thoughtfully designed spot. It is easy to find and park (garage in the rear for $2.00!) and the dining area itself is divided into the main room and some alcoves. In pleasant weather, you can eat on the covered patio. The place is clean, subdued, lovely, and calming. Our server was very polite and patient, explaining each element of the meal to us carefully. The descriptions of what we had, the 8-course Vegetarian menu, is on one of my photos of the menu. The dishes were delicately presented in order. Notice the exquisite artistry and the attention to tiny details in each dish. There were color, flavor, scent, and design considerations with balance being another governing factor of how everything was chosen and arranged. The selections are curated in just as thoughtful a manner as any museum. Everything we had was delicious. We do not eat large quantities at any one sitting, so this menu was perfect for lunch for two of us. One of the courses emitted a lovely smoke. Another gleamed with a gold accent, one other had fragrant sprigs of rosemary that I kept picking up to smell. All these facets made the food appetizing. See my pictures for a better idea. Do be aware that you are asked to choose at least one tasting menu (there are three), and can then order a la carte from there. I am not certain whether this was Tibetan, Nepali, Chinese cuisine predominantly but it was also reminiscent of Japanese cooking. A unique experience that was rewarding for all the senses. We tried one vegan course and one vegetarian, and it'll be too long to list each course here, but here are a few of our faves to give you an idea: The Island - A gentle shore of golden pumpkin and celery, where rice paper sails drift beside the earthy whisper of golden ear mushroom. The Jade - A calm green field of quinoa, tofu, and avocado, layered with cucumber, lettuce, cherry tomato, and nori sesame crumble, dressed with mirin, mustard, sesame, and a gentle touch of chili. Mountains and Rivers - Morel mushrooms with silken tofu, tender mushroom, and creamy mashed potato, dusted with barley leaf powder. The Forest - Oyster mushrooms seared over charcoal with rosemary shoyu butter, rich and aromatic. They also have some amazing cocktails! MOUNTAIN GLACIER - Cool berries and bright citrus tumble into silver tequila, smoothed by a breath of coconut. GOLDEN JASMINE - Jasmine drifts through soft whisky notes in fragrant, gentle layers-light as pale sunlight brushing the ridge of a quiet morning. For dessert we tried some of their vegan caramel ice cream, which was so rich and creamy. Our server was so helpful and took the time to explain each of the courses.
