Used to go to Du-Par's fairly often with my Grandmother, Hadn't been to Du-Par's for nearly seventy years. Saw some posts online a while back about Du-Par's needing business, so I went to Du-Par's for lunch today. First thing I noticed is Du-Par's doesn't seem to need business. Every table was full and I had to wait around ten minutes for a table. The second thing I noticed was how noisy it was inside Du-Par's. I am probably used to restaurants in my neighborhood (Sawtelle) where even when every table is filled there is hardly ever any noise. Third thing I noticed was how long it took for the food to come, I ordered a hot turkey sandwich. It took over 30 minutes. It was almost like someone had to catch the turkey before they could make a hot turkey sandwich out of the turkey. When the sandwich came it was rather ordinary. By the time the sandwich came my only goal was to eat the sandwich as quickly as possible and get away from all the noise. I ended up with a headache from all the noise. The wait for food can make you impatient while sitting waiting for food to arrive, but the place was so busy on a Sunday morning around 11 am...so its understandable. The service however is excellent and apologetic...and their attention to detail is amazing. For instance our server, placed two spoons on the small bowl containing the packaged creamers...one facing me, one spoon facing my companion. Same goes for how he placed the coffee cup and tea cup, with the handles facing to the right. Except of course of you are left handed, but still....great attention to detail. The breakfasts are impressively good. I asked for crispy hash browns, and theywere. The scrambled eggs were perfectly hard scrambled. Just as I asked for. Exemplary service. You pay with credit card at reception...I paid and left. A server chased me with my sunglasses and cell phone as I was luckily still standing outside the rear door having also forgotten to get validation for parking. We have been going to Du-Par's for more than 20 years and it is always great. We don't go as often anymore because parking is a bear as is the traffic around there, but each time we go we say we can't wait to come back. They have pies for days. They have a great selection of pies and baked goods. Their strawberry pie is very popular. All their pastries are great and you can eat there or take home a whole pie or bag of muffins. The place is just so cute, clean and comfortable. It does get very crowded on the weekends so I would avoid those days. The wait is just too long for us. I don't think they take reservations. The service is great. They can take a bit of time when it is packed but once you have a server they are nice, fast and kind. We love their breakfast and I can eat any of their muffins, but my favorite thing there is the chicken pot pie. It is just perfect. It has the best crust. You will be happy with anything you get. The first time a gray hair on a full stack of pancakes, second time a piece of plastic on my pot pje and today a black hair on my slice of pumpkin pie , im so disgusted. Du-Par's is such a LA classic. I've gone many times now to dine in and also just for carry out. Not to mention, they have a ton of baked goods you can order right from their stand within the Original Farmer's Market at the Grove. The thickest brownies you will ever see for $6.75 can be found here! Like I'm talking HUGE brownies like you've never seen before. It's so indulgent with chocolate frosting on top and at the price~ It doesn't even make sense, it's amazing. Even if you don't have time for a full dine-in, this bakery/togo section is money. Du-Par's is known for their pancakes and it's truth, their hot cakes are hot. Everything I've had at Du-Par's has always been great. Plus, they are always doing fun & trendy items, plus items themed for various holidays. Dodgers winning? They have TONS of goodies for that. Mother's Day this weekend? Yep, meals and even collectible cups can be had for the day of celebrating mamas. It's pretty wild how they have so many fun items for every cool day. Came here on a Friday around 11. The line was a little long but not extremely. We waited around 45min for a party of 3. We were seated in a booth. I didn't expect it to look like a vintage diner but it was nice. Our serve was very attentive although it was very busy. They offer high chairs and boosters for kids. Kid friendly. I ordered the iced caramel cold brew with vanilla cold foam. It was okay. I also ordered their famous original pancakes, a side of eggs, sausage and their crab cake Benedict. I am not a huge fan of coffee shops but Dupars is a classic place to get a snack albeit not very healthy or necessarily good for you. The pies are good enough to take to someone's house for dessert but they have become very pricy as everything has. Today we went to try the famous pancakes at DuPars. The service was nice, the restaurant is a little dated but the service was really good. The Famous Buttermilk Pancakes are pretty amazing they are fluffy and a few had crispy edges. They certainly were the highlight of the breakfast. The brand of turkey sausage that they use I didn't find tasty and the hash-browns were not cooked hard enough for me they were still like undone as far as I'm concerned...they were cooked but I'd like them a little more crispy...everything was a little bland as far as that goes but you know they had salt and pepper on the table which helped. My mom and I came in here from the OC on 7/21/26 just to try the famous pancakes. It was busy, but not too. Our experience would have been better if we had a different server. My mom and I have been in the business before especially my mom. Jose Martinez was one of the worst servers. He wasn't personable or friendly at all. I ordered a fresh squeezed Orange Juice only I didn't realize it had pulp which I can't do so I sent it back. Plus he gave us two when we only ordered one. I didn't drink mine, but he still changed us. Then the pancakes arrived. I do not eat pancakes, but I had a few bites and they were light, soft, pillowy and some of the best I've ever had. We asked for a box and something to put the syrup in. The box came, but nothing for the syrup. When we were leaving I gave our ticket to the hostess with the pink to have it validated. When we went to leave and pay parking she never validated it meaning my mom had to pay $21.00. We went shopping and if we'd known we could have gotten validated somewhere else. Overall the server was a huge let down. However the pancakes are worth the trip. Absolutely delicious and delectable. Ask for hard butter it makes a difference in the few bites I had. My mom and I split them, even though I only too a few bites cause I don't eat this and we still had a huge stack to take home. They have 3 chairs you can sit in while you wait but make sure you are seated in order bc otherwise people behind you will get seated before you. We had a weird experience where an older woman behind us sat next to me but closer to the "front" and she got seated before us. Super strange she didnt say a word about it. So be mindful of that bc the host doesn't really pay attention to who was really there first. And unfortunately he was very rude when confronted, basically yelled at us told us we can leave if we want to bc we weren't happy with what had happened. His behavior was super unprofessional, very disappointing. Anyway the servers turned it around bc they were incredibly attentive and hospitable. 10/10 for the service staff. Now the food: 1. My boss organized what was supposed to be a beautiful Mother's Day outing for 17 women. The plan was breakfast at Du-Par's followed by a movie, and everyone was genuinely excited. Unfortunately, the experience at Du-Par's completely changed the tone of the day. Twelve of us were seated at a table near the bakery counter, while the remaining guests in our party were placed far away in a separate booth. We politely asked if we could use the empty booth directly next to our table so our group could be closer together. The answer was a very firm "NO." We then asked to speak with a manager and were told no manager was available. We asked for a shift lead and were told the same thing -- no one was available. It was extremely frustrating because the booth remained empty while we continued trying to find a simple solution. What made the situation worse was that one of my coworkers, who speaks fluent Spanish, overheard staff members saying, "Those people think they are getting their way," followed by comments indicating they were intentionally refusing to accommodate us. At that point, the issue no longer felt like policy -- it felt personal and disrespectful. After multiple failed attempts to resolve something so minor, our group decided to leave. And leave we did. Du-Par's lost a party that would have easily spent over $1,500 because of poor customer service and unwillingness to make a reasonable accommodation. I had never been to Du-Par's before and had always heard great things. Sadly, after this experience, I'll be removing it from my bucket list. There were probably about 10 tables ahead of us, but the wait flew by--around 20 minutes total--and the weather was nice, so it didn't feel like a hassle at all. Inside, the vibe is classic old-school diner in the best way. The servers wear suit jackets, and the whole place feels like a time capsule of old LA. They had several monthly specials, including Valentine's Day pancakes, which was fun to see. Since Bosch is always talking about Du-Par's famous pancakes, we had to try them. We ordered a short stack (three pancakes) and also shared the chicken pot pie, which sometimes sells out. Neither disappointed. The pancakes were soft, airy, and perfectly comforting--served with syrup and just done right. My mom isn't even a pancake person, and she said they were delicious, which says a lot. The chicken pot pie had a beautifully flaky crust and was packed with plenty of chicken and veggies--super satisfying. I also had an iced coffee, which was exactly what you'd expect from a classic diner (no complaints there). Service was quick, and our server was friendly and efficient. My sister and her family were visiting from Denmark and wanted to see some "Bosch" filming locations. We decided on a weekday brunch before exploring Hollywood. This was the perfect spot! They have a large menu with many classic dishes. I ordered a chicken-fried steak with hash browns and two eggs, which were cooked perfectly. The hash browns were crispy on the outside and soft inside - a perfect texture! Many places overcook them, but not here. The chicken-fried steak used an 8 oz USDA Prime New York Strip, a much higher quality cut than the typical cube steak used elsewhere. It was delicious, even though it was different from what I'm used to. I requested fresh salsa, and although they offered hot sauce initially, I wanted something homemade. They had the cook prepare some of their in-house salsa, which had a great balance of spice and flavor. It perfectly complemented the dish. We also ordered pancakes, and Du-Par's lived up to their reputation for big, fluffy ones! They were fantastic. I would rate Du-Par's lower if I had paid the bill, as it was quite expensive. We were treating my sister and her family, but they insisted on paying. The bill was hefty, especially considering almost $40 for a country-fried steak. I give the food, service, and atmosphere a 5/5. This is the perfect diner for hosting family and friends, especially those visiting from out of town. Very cute restaurant, lots of outdoor seating with shade. Definitely a plus since the patio is dog friendly though they do not offer dogs water at least they didn't for us. Pancakes were delicious, my friends got the huge Cinnamon roll saying it was really good. Salmon Benedict was PERFECT. Unfortunately the only thing I didn't like was the Monte Cristo. The bread was just soft french toast, meat was dry and the "jam" was donut filling from next door. So the only thing I wouldn't recommend on the menu. What really stands out to me compared to all the other pancakes at other diners is how fluffy and buttery the pancakes are. I tried to full stack but couldn't even put a dent it in it. So nice to be back for breakfast at Du-Par's. We've been sorely missing the experience since they closed their Studio City location, and it's rare that we get to the Farmer's Market early enough for breakfast -- but yesterday we did, and boy were we glad about it. The restaurant maintains its mid-century Los Angeles charm with spruced up, retro coffee shop decor in dark reds and browns that create a warm and comforting atmosphere. Service is friendly, though they seemed a tad understaffed and our poor waiter was being run a bit ragged tending to so many tables with just one busboy to help. They did the best they could, but management should try to have a few more people on the floor. My wife ordered the French Toast, her favorite. Drizzled with melted butter and dusted with powdered sugar, this is one of the best versions of this morning stalwart in the city. I opted for their signature Buttermilk Pancakes, and was thrilled to find they have maintained their quality through all the changes. These hotcakes came out scorching hot, which is great -- they're crispy at the edges, fluffy in the center, and packed with all the right morning flavors. Melted butter and maple syrup slowly seep into the cakes, and they become sweet and savory through and through. I added a side of bacon, which was crisp without being petrified, so the full flavor was there to be enjoyed. The menu here is pretty much "diner standard" as it features all types of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options to make pretty much anyone leave satisfied. Even though I'm not usually one to order breakfast after 10AM, I couldn't resist ordering the Country Fried Chicken with Scrambled Eggs and Hashbrowns. The wait did take a little long, but it was a very busy Sunday afternoon so it's to be expected. When the food came out it was super hot and ready to be consumed. The scrambled eggs were the real deal and tasted as they should and the same can go for the standard breakfast hashbrowns. The country fried chicken was pretty solid as well, though I will say the flavour was pretty copy and paste to all similar establishments, though I'm not saying it's necessarily a bad thing, it just didn't stand out and was only average. The food is decent, but just okay for the price point. The service is not the most attentive or the fastest. The weirdest thing is that the guest line to be seated and the card payment line is the same. It takes forever for one host to deal with all that. Also keep in mind that your check will give you suggested tips based only on the price of the food, but when you walk up to the register, the card reader will show you suggested tips with tax included. Du-Par's is constantly discussed in regards to the top pancakes in Los Angeles and I wanted to make a trip over there after passing by it for years. As this is a mall with overly pricey parking filled with guests can make it hard to find specifically by Du'pars. I thought the service was fine and it was a pretty cozy restaurant. Although the pancakes were good along with the other items we ordered, it gets pretty expensive and not quite worth it as there are no pancake plates so other items are à la carte. read more

I had such an incredible experience at Du-par's Restaurant & Bakery! I ordered the country steak and eggs and it was absolutely amazing -- perfectly cooked, hearty, and super satisfying. I also tried the banana walnut pancakes and they were packed with flavor in every single bite. You can really tell everything is made with care and quality ingredients. On top of the food, the service was great -- friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The ambience was also really nice, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great meal. The pancakes were really good, I got the chocolate chip pancakes and they were very buttery in every bite

Ordered some pies for pick up - drove from 1.5 hours away to get specific pies which we paid and processed through for online - once we arrived to pick up both items we had ordered were not available- this was pretty disappointing - the lack of customer service was pretty bad as well. Hope they can work on this and at least give their clients a heads up on out of stock items. read more
