    Old Fashioned
    Jim L.

Started out at the hotel bar for drinks and the Old Fashioned I ordered was perfect $24. Our table was ready and headed to the dining room. The hostess made it a point to tell us 3 times there was a 2 hour time limit, little annoying even after we acknowledged her the first time. No more than a couple minutes passed when our waiter came and took our drink order and asked if we were ready to order dinner - feeling rushed again! We ordered a couple appetizers - zucchini chips & pigs in a blanket - they arrived fairly quickly, then he took our dinner order. Zucchini chips were very good but the pigs in the blanket were slightly undercooked, the blanket dough in a couple of them were slightly raw even though the outside was nicely browned. . Our entrees came and we ordered a couple chicken pot pies, steak frites, and I ordered the pork chop. Once our entrees were dropped no one came back to see if everything was okay. When ordered my pork chop I specifically asked if it was served medium slightly pink and the waiter said yes it's juicy. It was not juicy and it was even hard to cut it was so well done. . The pot pies and the flakey crust were tasty and satisfying. The steak came medium even though medium rare was ordered. We ordered the sundaes and they must use warm freshly washed cups as our ice cream was half melted. The ambiance of the restaurant was great with the views and the vibes but the dining experience was not great and hardly worth the cost. Valet parking was easy and the staff was friendly.

You come here not just for the meal but to walk into an era. The bar ambiance is stunningly 1920s elegant, immediately making you feel as if you're about to be graced by a Hollywood golden era actor or actress. Service as you might expect with this kind of vibe is impeccable. You'll never find your glass empty. Part of the charm is how friendly the waiters and waitresses are, adding an extra flair of class. If you don't drink, reconsider. The martinis here are famous. Order a vodka one with four blue cheese olives and you're in for a great time. Complement the martini with some calamari and you're in for an amazing time!

I've lived in LA forever, but didn't make it here till this month, for my birthday dinner. It was okay, and I was happy to check it off my "classic Hollywood experiences" list, but I don't see myself ever returning. Service was fine, though we waited too long for the check. Very loud live music in the evenings. It's a compact, dark space. No pictures are allowed in the restaurant. You can valet for $20. The drinks were okay; we had two of their specialty cocktails. I would have ordered a martini, but they weren't listed on the menu - obviously they could make one, but this was not the place I was going to roll the dice with a mystery charge, and there was no way I was asking how much it would be, like a backwoods bumpkin. The food was truly not very good. My boyfriend enjoyed his pork chop, spinach, and mashed potatoes, but he has a McDonald's palette. I had the lobster tacos, and the lobster tasted weird...kind of like how sewage smells. I ordered a piece of cheesecake for my birthday cake, and it was the most bland cheesecake I've ever had. They also were aware it was my birthday, but I received no fanfare - not that that would have made the experience any less underwhelming and disappointing. If you can get past the mediocrity and rigid rules, this might be an okay place for classy date night drinks or a catch-up with friends, but there are scads of other places around LA I'd choose first.

Walked in on a Monday night for a night cap and got seats at the bar. The vibes were great. Classy, old school Hollywood energy. Service was friendly and drinks were good. The terrace bar was also happening and worth a shot oof you can't get a seat at the tower bar.

Came here for dinner and I loved it! Don't understand the low reviews. All the employees and valet were very nice. The food was so good the Mac and cheese with truffle was perfect texture and consistency and the burger was amazing and perfectly cooked those two are a must get. We also got the bread basket and the zucchini chips which were also good. The place is really cute they had live jazz music and it was nice. The ice cream sundae is a fun process you get to choose everything that goes in it. Would totally come back!

New rule: online menus should mention: JAZZ MUSICIANS WILL BE LOUDLY PLAYING IN TIGHT, CLOSED QUARTERS THROUGHOUT YOUR MEAL, SO GOOD LUCK HEARING YOUR FRIENDS WHO ARE IN TOWN-- What? Sorry. Ears are still recovering. Maybe it's b/c they sat us right next to the band. Ordered the fried chicken, but they were "all out of the fried chicken". Womp womp. My expensive backup choice was overcooked. The super expensive martini was fine. However, I could've used that water refill... lil' parched. Maybe next time! And yes, we paid extra for the hair my friend found in her cobb salad. Oh well. At least Pauly Shore was there.

Tower Bar is an interesting experience. The lounge bar is beautiful, classy, and you can't resist taking tons of pictures. Cocktails were nice. But mentioned in most of reviews, "martinis" were disappointing. Not all bartenders are skilled and know how to mix some worldwide-known cocktails. So, it was an interesting experience to explain to a bartender how to mix a Pornstar Martini. BTW, they hadn't half of the ingredients for the cocktail :( Also, note that their cocktails are overpriced. But, bartenders are getting 7 out of 10. Only at the lounge area. Hospitality, professionalism, and communication. Food is 2 out of 10. The saddest tartare and steak salads in my life. Oysters were fresh. Thanks Employees are nice. But you can wait for a waiter forever, or he will ping you every couple of minutes about "ready to order?". Also, the easiest way to summon a waiter: take a picture of food! Any pictures are prohibited. Not bad for the experience, if you are going to the lounge bar, or asking for a dinner reservation at a table near the window to see the city. Or if you'd like to enjoy super loud live music (if you are sitting near the entrance). But you still can find better view, drinks, food, service, and vibe places around. And they will be way cheaper than this place. And which allow food photos

Create your own sundae -- ice cream was completely melted when it was set on the table.

I was very excited to finally go to Tower Bar after hearing about it for years. I would say my experience was a solid 3, for a few reasons. 1) My reservation was at 7:15. My friend and I arrived at 7:10. We were seated at 7:35. 2) While attentive before we ordered, our waiter basically disappeared afterward. We never had our water glasses refilled, we weren't checked on for at least 45 minutes after receiving our appetizer, we sat with empty drink glasses for at least an hour before being asked if we wanted another. 3) Speaking of appetizers, we ordered two -- the deviled eggs and the beet salad. The beet salad came and it was okay, honestly nothing special. We never got the deviled eggs. No mention of them, no apology for them not coming out. Luckily they weren't on the final bill, so I guess the waiter's attentiveness extended to not ever putting them in at all, even though it looked like he wrote it down. Oh well. 4) We got the create your own sundae. The ice cream was completely melted in the glass when it was set on the table. I spooned up a few bites of ice cream water with whipped cream, but that was a huge disappointment. 5) I know drink prices have increased dramatically in LA, but they were EXPENSIVE. An espresso martini was $25 and a glass of Sancerre was $27. Yikes. For an appetizer, two entrees, four drinks, and a dessert, we each paid $160. For this experience, I just don't think it was worth it. Glad I checked it out, would maybe sit in the bar area for a drink sometime, but won't be back for dinner.

Ask the Community - Tower Bar

Do they have valet parking for the Tower Bar?

    Yes

    Do they allow dogs?

I can't imagine bringing a dog to this club-like restaurant, indoors. Outdoors? I would call and ask them.

Can I take my 10 year old daughter? Or is it adults only.

This depends on the 10 year old. Is she mannerly? Can she sit quietly in a crowd of adults? I think it would be fine, if so.

    Can older teens eat here?

I suggest you take people who are over 16 at least.

Entrees, we each tried something different. The steak frites was cooked to order but really didn't set itself apart from other frites. The trout was cooked well, and seasoned nicely, but the purple cauliflower puree, for me, didn't come together in terms of presentation for the dish. The pistachio pesto pasta was very flavorful, mixing in the burrata on top and then the little pops of spice from the chili flakes.. Just a nice bite. Finally was the double wagyu burger with caramelized onions, American cheese and a sauce emulsified with bacon. Very tasty, and those caramelized onions just added another level to each bite. Overall, nice spot in WeHo serving up some tasty cocktails and decent food. Definitely get the pistachio pesto and double wagyu burger, but you can skip the bone marrow, meatballs, frites and trout.
