We just got home from dinner here and my wife and I loved it. The food was absolutely top notch. We started with the potatoes in garlic sauce and an order of the haroumi and watermelon. What a great kick off! As for our mains, we both ordered a variation of the combo plates. I had the chicken tawook and beef. The Mrs. had the chicken and lamb. All good. Based on the food alone, we would recommend this place to anyone with a beating heart and more importantly, a mouth. This is quality food at a quality price. The atmosphere? Really great. It's a little dark and twinkly inside which sets a nice tone. There is cool artwork adorning every piece of wall, the place is very easy on the eyes...including the restrooms. Very clean. Our sever, didn't catch his name, but what a nice dude. Was super helpful without being "too much" he should teach a server class. He's pretty much who you want taking care of your table. He knew the menu well and made great suggestions. It was actually refreshing. We will come back, most likely with the family. Our waiter told us that they can accommodate larger groups which is great. I recently ate food at Saffy's and I didn't enjoy it one bit. The food here is so SO good! Was craving Lebanese/Mediterranean food, and this restaurant really hit the spot! You absolutely MUST order the spicy garlic potatoes (with the garlic sauce, save some to accompany the rest of your meal) and the flash fried cauliflower. I was blown away by these appetizers - the potatoes were perfectly tender and the brightness of the cilantro and lemon made this dish so unique, and the caulifower were perfectly crisp and accompanied with some fresh onion and tomato slices. We shared the Sultan main plate so that we could try a few different proteins - the best was the filet mignon (so tender and juicy), while the shrimp was good but nothing special. This place was amazing! The type of place i would drive 30+ mins for. Staff was very nice, the food was incredible, and the ambiance was perfect for a date. Very pretty interior, I will say there isn't a whole lot of room. It's a pretty small building. But that's my only con if I was forced to have one. My main concern is always that the protein aka meat I order won't be juicy enough. But the meats I ordered were exquisite! We ordered a variety of dishes including chicken kebab, ground chicken kebab, chicken shish kebab, and beef shish kebab with sides of fries, hummus, and baba ghanoush, but unfortunately the entire experience was very disappointing. The service was awful from start to finish as no one checked on our table and our food arrived very late. They even forgot our fries at first, and when they finally came they were undercooked. The food itself lacked flavor across the board, and even the baba ghanoush tasted bland. Overall, nothing stood out in a good way and we did not enjoy our meal at all. My friend suggested this restaurant after our spa day and it was delicious and vibey! It felt authentic (though I have no way of knowing if it was) and our waitress was really nice and patient about explaining the menu. She was also super knowledgeable about the ingredients of dishes, which is super important to me as someone with dietary restrictions. The music was very cultural and super catchy. The food tasted fresh and I enjoyed my whole meal. I would definitely come back here if someone suggested it. The parking sucks though so prepare for that. read more

My thoughts on Open Sesame (re: Long Beach now Hollywood ) hasn't changed much one iota. Their beef based products are succulent, seasoned and tasty. Their chicken kabob or any of its variations are stiff, lack flavor and super overpriced. You can by the cut (smaller squares ) and the dimmer saturation on the exterior. We dined at the Beverly location this week, and enjoyed the pleasant hostess seating us, the one who brought some items we ordered, out, and the seamless and friendly service from Jack; he did a FANTASTIC job and complimented the relaxing ambiance for our dinner - he's affable and we enjoyed our conversation with him. I got my usual Chicken Tawook with hummus and the fatoush salad, vegetable soup,l (it's SO good), and tried the falafel app and cauliflower app...my husband enjoyed his order as well...I did not get my usual Vegetable Plate, but was happy with the new apps we tried...Jack had great recommendations for what would keep well for a to-go item (for my lunch the following day). We had such a great experience. I ordered my food so I could sit with my friend while she ate. I took mine home. The waitress wanted to make sure everything was ok because I didn't eat it there. Very nice. The manager (maybe owner?) and another gentleman helped me carry my stroller up and down their stairs. It's a little tight inside but it's cozy, and it's clean. And that's what matters. For years, I worked in Long Beach. For years, I would frequent the Long Beach location. Lots of memories and unforgettable meals. Now it's time to start over, this time closer to home (and work). I've never had a problem finding parking on Beverly. Yes, you deal with meters, however, enforcement isn't 24/7. Read the signs though. I believe it ends at 8PM. And feeding the meter is cheaper than a ticket. It's life in LA. Just deal with it. My friend and I walked in without reservations. On a Friday night too. However, we got there early enough that we got to sit at the bar, then had the choice of sitting inside or out and any open table. Had we gotten there later, it's likely we would have had to wait or go elsewhere. It got busy and I didn't see an empty table or seat at the bar when we finished up. Service was great. Not remembering his name but he was our guy in addition to tending the bar. I know he was busy but somehow he would just appear right we we needed or wanted something. Also makes means drinks. As for the food, see pics. We were mainly there for drinks and appetizers and I wish the lighting was better because the pics don't do the dishes any justice. We filled up on too much Pita with the starter Mezza Sampler and ended up just sharing The Sultan and a Baklawa Crumble. Just know, there were no leftovers.
