Ohhh this was one of our favorite meals this year so far. I've had this place on my radar for like 10 years and finally had the pleasure of coming in to try it - this place did not disappoint and was worth the hype. The menu is so inventive and flavorful. Favorite bite was the Lamb Sausage, the blend of spices was unreal. The Chicken Tikka Poutine was something i've wanted to try for years, it ended up being versatile, great to use the fries for dipping into our other saucier dishes. I feel like there's no going wrong with anything on this menu and I left wanting more. The space was cozy and so cute, we walked in with no reservation on a Friday night around 6pm, it filled up quickly though but wasn't crazy packed. Parking can be tough in the area but you can get lucky with metered parking! Highly recommend this spot :) Service was excellent, attentive, and friendly as well! read more

The food was great. I'm putting only 3 stars because I Didn't have a positive experience. The music was way too loud and chaotic. They had hip hop very loud, I don't enjoy hip hop music but besides that since it was so loud, the people in the table next to us where basically talking way too loud because the music was way too loud. No wonder why the restaurant was empty. Me and my two kids were so overwhelmed and overstimulated. They were crying and tantruming while I was trying my hardest to keep myself posed and managing their feelings as well. Food: The Chana Masala was so tasty definitely loved how fresh it tasted I believe with the cilantro in it and pickled onions. Also ordered was the Chicken Tikka Masala and good amount of chicken was provided for the dish. I'd say not enough Naan for the price but the rosemary naan was fragrant and cooked well. For dessert the coconut pudding was yummy! Id say on the sweeter side and was nice to share, this was an excellent vegan option as well! Another fantastic meal at badamaash in Hollywood. Our server remembered us which was astonishing! Our order came out surprisingly quickly, but since we came in between the lunch and dinner hour , maybe not so much. The fries are hands down the best fries I have ever tasted, EVER! The chicken wings are typical of tandoori chicken, but with that unique cilantro whipped cream to dip them in, my god, makes it a dish that you crave!! Again with the seek kabobs, made with lamb so tender, come with a turmeric sauce that is soooo good. We started with the yogurt puffs that are a fun spicy, creamy, crunchy bite that really is the definition of appetizer. We were so full by the end of the meal but decided to look at the dessert menu anyway. We saw this inexpensive, tasty and not too filling option, a nice hot shot of chai! Venice is open but couldn't get in as its super busy and we don't want dinner at 5pm. Right back to Fairfax this time and it's still super great. Love to have consistency when we go back to places we love and all the food was fresh and just as tasty as the last time. Mixed it up this time and tried the "Fish "Moilee" which was crispy and not oily with a delicious curry that was perfectly spiced. Service is always top notch and helpful! I am a foodie and I enjoy all types of food. I was very impressed with the presentation, the food quality and the seasoning that each dish had to offer! Let's first talk about highlights: the restaurant seated our party of two promptly without a reservation, and the service was both quick and attentive throughout the meal. We ordered the poutine, and the fries were a highlight. They were crisp and well-seasoned. The chicken in our dishes were also prepared well, with juicy, clean cuts. Shortcomings: I would say the rosemary naan was rather bland. The thinner grains of the basmati rice gave it a somewhat glossy/plasticky texture and did not tie well into eating it with the butter chicken. I've been to the downtown location several times and it has always been good. the other day we were driving down Fairfax and actually saw a parking meter available in front of the restaurant so we thought this was our lucky day! We decided to get some poutine fries! Looking at the menu, the spicy sausage also looked good. So we ordered that and it turns out that it is indeed the bomb!! Everyone working here is cool and the place is nice and cozy and cute. I had wanted to try Badmaash for a while, and ended up coming here for a dinner with strangers event. I love trying new flavors/combos, so contemporary Indian fusion sounded great to me! I usually like to order for the table and share everything family style, but we stuck to ordering our own dishes since we weren't sure about everyone's palettes. However, we did start with a bottle of orange wine for the table. Super refreshing. It was one that our server recommended so I don't quite remember what it was, but 8/10. For food, I ordered the Chicken Tikka Poutine (masala fries topped with cheesecurds, with beef gravy, topped with tandoori chicken tikka and cilantro). According to Yelp, this dish is super popular, so I thought I'd give it a try. I love fries/poutine, and chicken tikka so it felt like a good move. The overall flavors worked, but the chicken was overcooked and dry, the gravy was rather bland, and the cheesecurds were sparse and didn't melt because the dish was room temperature when I got it. 5/10. For me, the concept was definitely better than the execution, though I would order it again just to see if I just happened to get a sub par version of this popular dish. Chicken Poutine: 5.25 I enjoyed the poutine significantly more than the butter chicken. The chicken was cooked and seasoned well, it wasn't drenched in gravy and had a good amount of cheese curds. The fries were very nice, crispy and seasoned, exactly what you want with fries. Sadly, I feel like the attempt to add indian fusion wasn't the best. Seperate, the chicken had pretty strong seasoning, but all together just tastes like normal poutine, the gravy and cheese curds kind of overpowered it for me. Honestly the chicken from here mixed with the butter chicken was really good. Decent poutine, not really good fusion food tbh. Crispy Yogurt Puffs: 5.75/10 This was very interesting, definitely something to try, but personally I wouldn't try again. The tamarind was very overpowering and leaves a super sour taste. The server explained the various sections of the menu and gave us time to make our choices. Crispy Yogurt Puffs (5/5) - These panpuri were a flavor explosion. I loved the different textures that came with eating a puff in one bite. Traditional Samosa (3/5) - The samosa exterior was crispy and the interior was stuffed with potatoes and peas. We didn't love the high ratio of peas to potatoes. Butter Chicken Samosa (3/5) - This samosa was equally crispy on the outside and stuffed with butter chicken chunks on the inside. I wish the butter masala flavor was stronger and there was more of the sauce on the inside. Aloo Golbi (3/5) - Solid cauliflower and potato curry with plenty of curry to be enjoyed with our naan and rice. Paneer Tikka Masala (3/5) - I was a tad underwhelmed with the tikka masala flavor but it was still tasty with the naan and basmati rice. Good job South Indian "Fish Moilee" (9/10): If you're tired of Thai curry, this is something shares similar DNA but more refreshing and surprising! It's also light to medium spicy, but not overly spicy that covers the taste of everything. However: For the price, I wish it has more fish, or at least comes with rice like most curry dishes in other restaurants.. Amazing! I thought I'd tasted the best places for Indian food but omg this place is just a step above. We had the butter chicken (out of this world delicious), braised beef short rib (melts in your mouth), the vegan eggplant dish ( I don't particularly care for eggplant but this dish made me a believer) and the chicken poutine (best part was the sauce on top of the fries). Quoting Rachel Ray "Yumm-O!" The food was spectacular. All the flavor combinations were specific and perfect. The service was lovely. Chris couldn't have more courteous, friendly and accommodating. My one comment would be that the chairs were not particularly comfortable, but I will not be deducting any points for that because the food was exquisite. Next time I'll make sure to grab the booth. My bf loooves badmaash and we didn't realize they had another location besides DTLA. We came here because I had my dog with me and I saw there was outdoor seating, except that is gone now. Probably because they only had it up when it was during COVID? So we still wanted to dine here and hoped they allowed dogs inside, which they did! We didn't have a reservation but we got seated right away since it wasn't busy. It was really embarrassing that my dog actually pee'd in the restaurant and we felt so bad omg. Although, the waiters and employees here were so chill and accommodating, ugh bless them. We weren't too hungry but we ordered the sausage and chicken butter curry with two naans and rice. The naans and rice are a must have if having the curry! My bf enjoyed the sausage sooo much, and the sauce that came with it. I really liked the chicken butter curry and the chicken was so soft and flavorful. The naan here was also really crispy yet soft and fluffy. Everything about this place was so good! Especially with how chill, attentive, and efficient the server was. One thing I would have to say is that, they don't really turn on the a/c? So it was really stuffy and warm inside the restaurant. Perfect butter chicken with juicy yet nicely grilled chicken. Rosemary naan is my new favorite. Paneer Tikka masala is a hidden gem in the menu. A lot can be said by looking at the gravy and unlike other highly rated Indian restaurants Badmaash stands apart by using fresh ingredients to cook gravy sans any food colors. Not too milky, not too sweet and perfect masala. I didn't know that less milky chai will taste so good. Highly recommended! There's a reason this place is on Michelin guide.
