A literal hidden gem! I stumbled upon them on DoorDash one random day while looking for a "silog" fix, and they did not disappoint. I first ordered the Spamsilog and Spam Pandesal (photos not included), and the servings were pretty hefty for the price! I loved the side salad and how the garlic rice was cooked. It brought me right back to my childhood mornings when my mom would make hearty breakfasts. I got my friend the Iced Biscoff Latte which, according to her, was "a really, goooooddd, gooooood coffee." A win for a picky friend! Because I couldn't stop thinking about the food I had delivered, I went to dine in the following day. We had the Bicol Express and Steak Silog. We also tried the Ube Coconut drink -- it reminded me of Filipino "palamig." We got the lumpia, and I loved it because it stayed true to the traditional recipe. A lot of restaurants now alter it, but this one tasted just like what we would have during family gatherings. To cap it off, we had the Asada Burrito. It was legit. Of course, we had to come back again two days later. This time we had the Bistek and Chicken Inasal. The Bistek was outstanding! Oh, and we also had the Birria Tostadas, they were really delicious! For drinks, I had the Mocha Cereal (no caffeine), which tasted just like the chocolate cereal drink I used to make when I was a kid. So, suddenly I was a kid again! We also had the Ube Coconut again it's definitely a favorite now! I wish I took photos but we were so excited to eat! They just recently opened, but I have high hopes for this business! May they be blessed with more loyal customers

The pozole was my first pick, & wow it did not disappoint (especially after adding the salsa) I also tried the coconut ube, & it was delicious I live just around the corner, so it's exciting to have familiar comfort food so close by. I'm already looking forward to my next visit (:

High-Quality Comfort Food & Top-Notch Service~ I recently…read morevisited Dinah's for the very first time to meet up with my cousin, two aunts, and her new baby. This location was the perfect halfway point for all of us. We arrived bright and early around 9:30 AM on a Wednesday. I had called ahead to reserve a booth, my absolute favorite kind of seating. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly hostess and immediately seated. Our server (I unfortunately forgot his name!) was fantastic. He brought out fresh coffee right away, took our breakfast orders, and was extremely kind, polite, and attentive throughout our entire meal. The menu has plenty of options, ranging from scratch-made omelettes and burritos to salads and a dedicated kids' menu. The Breakfast Plate Specials ($12-$14) Both my cousin and aunts ordered this. It came loaded with pancakes, hashbrowns, sausage, and toast--an absolute steal for the price~ Turkey Club Sandwich & Fries: I was in the mood for lunch, so I opted for the club. The fries were hot and perfectly crispy. The sandwich itself was wonderful, packed with turkey, bacon, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. My only tiny critique is that I wish it came with mayo (I'm a huge mayo fan!). However, I ordered a side of ranch which paired perfectly and really elevated the sandwich. The vibe here is incredibly laid-back, welcoming, and brightly lit. Everything--including the restrooms--was sparkling clean. They had TVs playing a local soccer game and a nice bar area where it looks like they serve up a great selection of beer and wine for happy hour. I didn't grab an alcoholic drink this time, but I already have my eye on a cranberry mimosa for my next visit! Before you leave, make sure to check out the front counter--they have a massive display of freshly baked cookies, pies, and other goodies~ For the price, the food is absolutely worth it and the service is top-notch. Thank you so much, Dinah's Comfort Kitchen--we will definitely be back when we're in the area again!

I love the outdoor patio area and the classic diner decor. I cannot wait to go back.

Tucked in between the Pico-Robertson & Mid-City neighborhoods, Charlie's sun-faded marquee stands testimony to its many years of service to the community. Charlie's menu consists of standard Fish Fry fare. Catfish, red snapper, whiting, swai, orange roughy, shrimp -- though they also serve chicken wings. Sides include fries, hush puppies, green/macaroni/potato salad. The #1 lunch combo (3 pc. fish + 5 pc. shrimp) is my go-to. Lunch combos are served with a simple green salad, fries, and 2 slices of wheat bread or a dinner roll -- all for a nominal price of $15. The cornmeal battered fish & shrimp were perfectly fried. Light, crispy, & well-seasoned. Fries are classic crinkle cuts. If you're looking for a no frills, neighborhood Fish Fry this side of Pico -- look no further than Charlie's.

There were only 2 people working so I was impressed that it was ready so quickly. Staff was very nice as well I ordered a 5 piece fish/ 5 piece wing meal and a 6 piece fish meal. Both came with fries, side of fresh greens and a roll. Ended up with some leftovers from both plates. The fish was delicious. Wings huge and super crispy. The tartar sauce was on point. Fries were alright too! The food was honestly fresh for everything being deep fried. There were a couple spots to sit inside but I got the feeling most people carry out. I'll definitely come back. I recommend this spot over other nearby fish & chip places.

5/5 - Flavor-packed, thoughtful plating, and absolutely worth the visit…read more This spot delivers on both flavor and presentation. I ordered a loaded carne asada-style dish served over fresh greens, and every bite was intentional and well-balanced. The beef was deeply seasoned, tender, and slightly crisped in places, which added great texture. It was topped with a creamy, slightly tangy sauce that tied everything together without overpowering the meat. What really stood out was the attention to detail: pickled red onions for acidity, fresh greens for balance, and a side of house-made pickled vegetables that cut through the richness perfectly. The tostada-style side topped with avocado, herbs, and onions added a nice contrast--crunchy, fresh, and vibrant. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Portion size was generous without feeling excessive, and the dish felt hearty yet clean. I paired it with a refreshing citrus drink that complemented the meal well and kept everything light. Overall, this is the kind of place where you can tell the kitchen cares about execution. Bold flavors, great balance, and a presentation that looks just as good as it tastes. I would absolutely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a satisfying, well-crafted meal

She handed us menus and told us to order at the counter when we were ready and they serve breakfast all day. The menu can feel a little intimidating. It has Mexican, Guatemalan and Salvadoran which I am not all that familiar with. We landed on a couple of pupusas and a couple of fish tacos. There are signs letting you know the food is cooked to order and to expect a 20-25 minute wait, so at least they set expectations up front. The dining room was small but warm and colorful and there were additional tables set up just outside the front door. We had no problem finding a table inside. When the food came out, the portions were generous and the presentation was better than you'd expect from a humble neighborhood grill. The pupusas were crisp on the outside with plenty of filling, and the fish tacos were fresh and well-seasoned -- nothing greasy, nothing bland. Friendly service, solid food, and a spot I'd definitely come back to now that I know what to order.

The restaurant is located at the Beverly Center and does not validate parking. The good news is that parking is relatively affordable at $1 per hour. Since I don't eat meat or chicken, I checked the menu online beforehand and found several options that looked appealing. Unfortunately, once we were seated, we were given a completely different menu. When I asked about it, our server, Lindsey, explained that the menu I had seen online isn't available until after 3 p.m. That was disappointing since I had already planned my meal. We started with the biscuits. They had a strong smoky flavor that honestly made me think they were baked with pork fat or in an oven used for barbecue. Lindsey assured me they weren't made with any meat fats, but the smoky flavor was definitely noticeable. I ordered the salmon with microgreens and a side of mac and cheese. My partner ordered the steak and eggs with hash browns, and we both enjoyed the mint mocktails--they were refreshing and one of the highlights of the meal. The salmon was cooked well and I enjoyed it. The mac and cheese, however, was a huge letdown. It arrived in a cute little cast-iron skillet on a butcher block, so the presentation was great, but the taste didn't match the appearance. It reminded me of boxed mac and cheese made with powdered cheese, topped with Parmesan just to create a crust. It was runny, lacked richness, and there wasn't even a hint of that satisfying cheese pull. Unfortunately, there were service issues as well. My partner specifically ordered his eggs over hard, but they weren't prepared that way. His hash browns never arrived at the table, and on the drive home he realized we had been charged for them. He intended to mention it before leaving but simply forgot. The biggest positive is the restaurant itself. It's beautiful, stylish, and has a great ambiance. Beyond that, though, I found the food to be average for the price. Even by Los Angeles standards, $42 for chicken and waffles feels excessive. Overall, Yardbird looks better than it tastes. While there were a few bright spots, the inconsistent service, menu confusion, and underwhelming food don't justify the price. Unfortunately, I don't see myself returning.

My wife could go on for hours talking about how great the spaghetti here is the same way I could talk about Shohei Ohtani's magnificence as a baseball player. Regrettably, I do not share in her love of this place. I find the food to be very basic and akin to cafeteria food. And before anyone blasts me for this comment, they actually serve you food in cafeteria trays! I've tried their signature spaghetti with meat sauce. The sauce is very bland. The other day, I tried out their pepperoni pizza for the first time. It was so greasy and soggy that I couldn't finish it, even at the risk of offending the wife. Just about the only thing I enjoy here is the salad. Like everything else, it's nothing fancy, but it is the most satisfying thing to eat. It's served cold with a creamy and light dressing. Some final thoughts before I wrap up this review. The food is very cheap as is the parking in the back of the restaurant. Parking is only two bucks if you get it validated by the cashier. While it pains me to disparage this place, it pains me even more knowing that I will have to make yet another pilgrimage to this restaurant at some point in the not so distant future.

It was also really easy to make a reservation online (I believe it's through Resy). I thought the service was incredible from start to finish. Our table was ready for us to sit right away, and while service was great, it was not overbearing. Our drinks were always full, and there was just enough attention where we could get something if needed. We enjoyed the food. The dishes felt "simple", but yet well executed. I wouldn't say this is the finest dining you've ever had, but all of our dishes were delicious, fresh, and well prepared. * Fish and chips with caesar salad: delicious light batter - the chips (fries) were delicious and very nicely fried; the garlic aioli was amazing. The caesar salad * Caesar salad: Nicely done, very good croutons, and I appreciate they were willing to put the dressing on the side to control the amount of dressing on the salad * Trout: It was a nice, light fry, and very tasty. It was not very salty, and the garlic aioli was a perfect complement to the fish. The green beans it came with were deliciously cooked with a nice crisp and almond slivers * Vegetarian chili soup: The chili soup was delicious. My kids don't like chili but really liked this * Fish pasta: The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, and the fish was so fresh. The pasta sauce was a nice compliment to the fish. It also came with some butter bread which was absolutely delicious and so nicely (heavily) buttered and toasted. It tasked like two very large crispy / soft croutons The neatest part were the movie posters in the hallway on the way to the bathroom. I was able to recognize all the movies (crazy how many Spielberg produced), and my kids recognized quite a few of them as well. I also appreciate that they celebrated my boys' birthday with ice cream sundaes (which they said were deliciously creamy).
