This spot has been on my list for a while, and I'm glad we finally made it in. The minute we walked through the door, the woman behind the counter greeted us enthusiastically -- big plus already. She handed us menus and told us to order at the counter when we were ready and they serve breakfast all day. The menu can feel a little intimidating. It has Mexican, Guatemalan and Salvadoran which I am not all that familiar with. We landed on a couple of pupusas and a couple of fish tacos. There are signs letting you know the food is cooked to order and to expect a 20-25 minute wait, so at least they set expectations up front. The dining room was small but warm and colorful and there were additional tables set up just outside the front door. We had no problem finding a table inside. When the food came out, the portions were generous and the presentation was better than you'd expect from a humble neighborhood grill. The pupusas were crisp on the outside with plenty of filling, and the fish tacos were fresh and well-seasoned -- nothing greasy, nothing bland. This place is just around the corner, and glad I stopped in. The portions are large and filling (I ordered two pupusas for lunch which was slightly more than I could eat!) You also get a plantain meduro if you order at least 2 pupusas! The indoor dining area is tight, but they also have outdoor tables set up with shade. Come early, and be prepared to wait! The line moves slowly (I was about 6 or 7th in line, and took me about 15 minutes to get to the front of the line), and they have signage up saying food could take up to 30 minutes as food is to order. The owner/workers are so kind and there were times where we got service and they gave us extra pupusas or drinks or this banana dessert they have. The last time I went I got the grilled fish of the day, my friends both got the breakfast tronquito, and we couldn't pass up on getting the gourmet pupusas to share. Grilled Salmon 5/5: exactly what I was looking for that morning because I didn't need anything heavy, but was looking for more veggies and the plate definitely had a lot of them with a healthy dollop of guacamole on top! Gourmet Pupusas 5/5: we got them stuffed with jalapeño, carne asada, and cheese and they were huge! The spicy slaw that came with them were very refreshing to eat alongside them. Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked, portion sizes were great (especially those drinks - massive, vibrant agua fresca for $6), and the service was beyond friendly and attentive. I still can't get over how good this pupusa was. The only downside to my experience was that I'm pretty sure my tip was added twice (there was an issue with my first payment attempt and we didn't think it had gone through - otherwise, I'm not sure how two breakfast plates and two drinks added up to $64). Unfortunately the wait was a little long for the amount of people there but it was worth it. As my friend and I approached the front door one of the servers noticed us approaching and held the door open welcoming us in. The staff is very friendly and explained how ordering and getting a table worked. I will say however that the chata coffee wasn't the best. It was just an horchata with a bit of coffee in it and the horchata itself is just a mix. For $8 it was a little bit of a let down. This restaurant overall is definitely a must visit. The food is delicious. The service is simple outstanding; they make you feel truly welcomed. The portions are very hearty. Parking isn't the best it's in a shared lot with another business but street parking is pretty easy to park. We were able to park 25 ft from the parking lot. We were stuffed, the food was delicious, and, because we went on a slower day, we were able to talk to the staff and learn a bit about them and the history of their lovely restaurant. Do not sleep on Three Borders! I've driven by this place several times and finally decided to give it a go. I'm so happy we discovered it! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with friendly service and hospitality. They have a huge extensive menu filled with breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. The only problem is that they close at 6 so make sure to swing by for an early dinner! Their Pupusas are out of this world good and everything is made to order fresh so you may need to wait a few mins for your food but it's worth it. I'm here in LA on a road trip from Colorado, and this has been one of my favorite stops of the whole trip. Not only is the service fantastic, but the food is so good, I literally wrote home about it. First time here today and the food is insanely good. I ate inside and the service was as good as the food. I ordered a carnitas taco and two pupusas. The carnitas taco was very flavorful (loved the grilled onion in the meat!) and they included a big portion. The green salsa on the side was flavorful too. For the pupusas you can choose up to 3 ingredients. I did one with chorizo/potato/cheese and the other with carne asada/bean/cheese. They both were really good and I'll be trying more combos. Their agua fresca is very good and not overly sweet. I had the cucumber and it was a great compliment to the meal. They included a fried banana with the meal and I loved the flavor and texture. Some of the best service I've ever received at a restaurant. I came into this establishment, admittedly, looking a mess. I'd hardly slept the night before. It was 2pm, and I'd eaten nothing all day. To make matters worse, on the walk there, I twisted my ankle badly. I hobbled in, dehydrated, tired, mentally out of it, and no doubt showing it. I was so torn between the Crazy Mañanero and El Volcán. Decided on the latter because I wanted to try their pupusa and it seemed like the more unique dish. (Although, doesn't seem like you can really go wrong here with any of their many options). It's a wonderful pile of Central American desayuno bombassss-ness on top of the best pupusa (revuelta) we've ever had, hands down. The ratio of masa to filling (which was piping HOT with yummy pork/ beans/ cheese) and the crisp shell was perfecto. The casamiento was another standout. The only thing I kinda regret was getting bacon for the meat. I thought it'd be strips from the photos I saw, but they were bits. Should've gone with the sausage or upgraded to the beef chorizo. Don't forget to ask for the spicy salsa. Also got the TBB Breakfast. Went with sausage for the meat option, and pancakes over French toast. The sausage is not your typical breakfast pork link. It's some kinda amazing (chicken?) spicy weiner (hehe) type of thang that they slice up into thin strips alongside fajita'd onions & peppers...and you just really can't tell by photos how delicious this will be until you try it. Also, their "scrambled eggs" are more of a perfectly fluffy omelette crepe thing. It works! Great hashbrowns. The pancakes were pretty big and very yummy. Also thoughtfully topped with powdered sugar. Not enough people do that. So good & so nice of them. Could only take down 1 so we happily took 2 home. Means the portions are just right. You can taste the genuine love they put into their foods. We were swooned by their highly creative fusion take on Latin cuisine. Super original and very delectable concoctions with fun names. We got the agua fresca mixed. Huge, hella refreshing, and just sweet enough. The cute owner lady kindly let us take one for the road when we headed out. I get wanting to close on time but 90 minutes before you close?....ok I'll sit outside drove all the way over here to have French toast: was rock hard. Bananas cold. Asked for something to be done at the end of our visit. Was cordial the entire time because I didn't want to be rude. They refuse to make the situation better for me, not remaking or money back. Rushed us out and all just looked and didn't care. This is why people are Rude about their food. I'm too nice.
