Jollof Rice plus Root Beer Braised Short Rib
    Edward S.

Two Hommes is a lively corner hangout spot. Everyone here is all smiles and you are treated like family. The service is chill and the food is full of flavor. The Jollof Platter: Each grain of the Ghanaian Jollof Rice is firm, al dente, and seasoned - no mushy rice on this plate. The rice is evenly coated with well balanced spices. You can taste a little curry and a bit of fennel. The arugula salad cuts the richness with its peppery leaves. The caramelized plantains are crispy and gooey. The bomb azz black beans live up to their name, creamy and silky with every spoonful. If you're going to add a protein, make it the Root Beer Braised Short Rib. Braised short rib is a rich and succulent cut of beef. You don't really cut the extremely tender meat as much as you jiggle the moist juicy beef. The root beer makes a nice sticky glaze. They add the habanero sauce and cilantro lime crema on top like frosting on a cupcake. The creamy, sweet, and tangy sauces with chives add an explosion of flavor. Parking: There's street parking next to the big Ralph's lot. You can also find a spot about a block away.

Two Hommes was such a lovely dinner. I would give this 4.5 stars but the Za'atar zucchini pushes this up to a 5 star meal. First off, this place is poppin! My friend and I came on a Thursday night and it was packed! Definitely get reservations! The only thing we ordered not pictured I was the Za'atar zucchini which is a shame because it was my favorite dish. It was so incredibly flavorful. 10/10 truly. One of my favorite dishes I've ever eaten. The short rib with whipped sweet potato was exactly what my friend wanted - she loves short rib and this gave her everything she could have asked for. Great depth of flavor, superrr tender. And the whipped sweet potatoes were a great complement. 9/10 The lamb chops were great but definitely needed a different knife for them. Great flavor and cook on the meat though. 9/10 Unfortunately the jollof rice did not hit the mark for me. My best friend from college is Nigerian so I've had tons of his aunty's jollof and this jollof rice just did not stand up to the home cooked goodness I love so much. This was disappointing because my friend had never had jollof rice snd she was looking forward to trying it and was very let down. 7/10 The plantains were great, and I lovedddd the bside of black beans. Those were soooo good! I lovedddd plantains mixed with black beans so I was super happy to finish those off. 10/10 for the beans, 9/10 plantains. The service was great! We never felt rushed, never felt like anyone interjected too much while at the same time our server was super helpful and just good energy. There is parking in the lot all around the restaurant, which is great. I would definitely come back here to try more things off the menu! What a great find!

I came here on a Friday night with some of my girlfriends to get a good meal and catch up. My friend raved about how much her and her husband loved this place so we went to check it out. We had reservations so we got seated right away, which was nice. All the staff was so friendly. And the food... The food was amazing. I had the lamb chops with the noodles and it was perfect. At first, I thought the portion was too small but once I started eating it, it was just enough and I had a little bit of leftovers. The bread with the hummus was also delicious. And the drink was good. The atmosphere and vibe was nice and I will definitely come back again.

H*** YES! Some of the best food I've had in a while! We ordered everything we could possibly eat in one seating and I have no complaints. Refreshing experience. We went for Sunday brunch and snagged a seat at the bar. Reservations are advisable. Everything was a "favorite", but in order from most enjoyed are: Honey Berbere Chicken Bites with THE PERFECT PANCAKE (custom pairing lol), The Jollof Platter (with lamb), Shrimp & Grits, and Braised short rib & Grits. My goodness, if I could eat more I would have tried more! That Berbere Chicken -- chef's kiss! Ambiance is very homey and perfectly snug. Mo helped us and her energy was absolutely warm and infectious, very sweet and we were well taken care of. Will absolutely return in a heartbeat.

The food was delicious, and the music was a vibe. I will definitely be returning. I ordered the fried chicken appetizer and jollof plate with shrimp. The flavors are a fusion between West African, Caribbean, and American soul food. I highly recommend placing a reservation since it gets pretty crowded. If you come with a lot of people, get a few entrees and small bites to share family style.

Came for dinner an hour before close on a Saturday night with no reservation. It was crowded. Lots of dates and large parties and solo diners. Very cute vibe. The host was so nice and friendly. He let us wait to see if someone didn't show. They didn't! I've been here before so I know what I like. Garlic noodles and lamb chops with a Young Fashion and the warm plantain sticky cake. My bf had the Braised short ribs and whipped yams..sorry I really disliked this. Everything was just mushy and ate like baby food, just not the best. Maybe we caught it at the end of the night but all that mushy served in a bowl ...not my cup of tea. They noticed we didn't eat it and the server was kind enough to bring something else. I really appreciated that. We'll be back.

They have one of the best shrimp & grits dishes I've ever had. It's on par with the best place I've had in New Orleans after 4 visits there. Perfectly cooked shrimp. Thick and creamy grits. And the sauces on top are so flavorful. The biscuits are tiny, but also really good. They were served warm with jam & butter. The drink I had here is good as well. They have a small, well curated cocktail list. Drinks & food came out fast. Beautiful space. I noticed they updated the seating and removed the benches and metal chairs and it really elevated the place. Before the interior read as casual but the menu wasn't, and now it all makes sense. The only reason it's not 5 stars is the service. While seemingly attentive at first, it wasn't personable & we were definitely rushed. Came for a 1pm reservation and finished around 2pm. They close at 3pm on Sunday but our server rushed us to wrap up. Even took our waters before we finished without asking, on a hot day at that. And throughout the meal things just felt very rushed because he spoke fast. Maybe he had a lot of tables to tend to but I didn't enjoy that aspect of dining in. Parking is easy, either in the lot behind the building or in the neighborhood

Woke up this morning thinking about how DELICIOUS dinner was last night! Each dish was just as amazing as the last! Party of 4 for a Friday night dinner required a reservation and once we arrived @ 8:15pm, we saw why. It was packed. Very quaint inside. It was loud & social. Not a place for a romantic evening (but definitely not in a bad way.) At times our server did appear to be stretched a little thin. But there was very much a community feel and I loved it! What did we try... a little bit of EVERYTHING. Plates were so fresh and festive. -Fish tostadas (2 per order): Packed with flavor. The fish was flaky and cooked to perfection. Spice level was perfect. Did NOT disappoint -Honey Berbere chicken bites: Crispy & sweet, reminded me of the TGIF jack daniels glaze. So good. -Grilled broccolini: AMAZING! It was the main thing that I wanted to try. The garlic sauce that it's served on...divine! I could eat this everyday. -Lamb & White bean hummus: 100/10 (and I don't eat hummus). The homemade flatbread served with is a dream! -Garlic noodles with root beer braised short rib. Noodles could've had more of garlicky kick, but by no means did it disappoint. The short rib does obviously have a little sweet glaze to it. If you enjoy a more savory dish, then I would eat the noodles alone. Once I ordered a side of Gloria's shito (chili oil), it was perfect! Cocktails were also on point. I am looking forward to visiting for brunch very soon. -There is plenty of parking in the back of the restaurant & surrounding neighborhood. -Automatic 20% gratuity added for parties of 4 or more. -Credit card required for reservations

I finally was able to check out Two Hommes in Inglewood. It did not at all disappoint. Drinks Bahia Beach - very different from the typical flavor profile that I like, but still tasty Sentinels Spritz - so refreshing As for the food, everything was so delicious. We started with the plantain and crab salad. Two of my favorite foods in one dish? Loved this. Next we had the chicken bites which were yummy and my friend's favorite dish. Then we had the jollof platter which I thought would have more flavor but still pretty good. We finished out with the dessert. I first had their plantain sticky cake when I visited the booth that they had at the LA Times best 101 restaurants event and having it at the restaurant was drool worthy. Overall I had a great experience. It can be loud in here. Enough so where you Have to speak to the point it may feel like yelling but you can also watch a game here. There is bar seating and an overall intimate space. Our server was great. She was very friendly and made the dining experience even better. Additionally, parking was not hard to come by because you can park next door and if you take public transit, it's within a short walking distance as well.

Finally got to try this place and had an overall pleasant experience. I arrived late to my reservation but they were still able to accommodate my party. I did try calling several times before and couldn't get any one on the phone even though they just opened. The host was a nice guy and we were quickly seated. Our waitress was nice as well. The restaurant was very clean! Even the bathrooms. That was nice to see. On to the food. I got the shrimp and grits which was delicious! I would definitely eat it again. The price wasn't too bad either and it was filling. My husband got the chicken and waffles which he enjoyed. I do feel as though most places give you a nice thick waffles or two. This was a thin waffle. Menu said it was served with powdered sugar and that was left off the plate. We also got the jollof rice platter which was pricey for $28. You still had to add protein to it so I was a little taken aback. Had the bbq jerk sauce and it was spicy! They had other sauces as well. I didn't like that if you simply wanted the sauce on the side it was an up charge. That's so odd. The plantains that are supposed to be included didn't come out with the meal and I had to inquire if it was supposed to. The waitress quickly rectified that issue. I just feel like that platter was over priced. Tried the mango lemonade, not sweet more sour. Had 2 coffees which weren't priced on the menu and at $5 a cup could have come in a bigger cup to be honest. Also the way they served the food, it's wasn't all at once. I had a child with me and his food took the longest to come out. The restaurant has plenty of parking available. It is on the smaller side and I can imagine how loud it can get at night. I would certainly return for brunch and bring others to try.

    Chicken bites and biscuits

This has been on my list for years and I finally went with my husband for brunch. I did not take too much content because I was too busy stuffing my face! I had the pineapple spicy marg, delish. I switched to their chenin blanc for our meal. We had the chicken bites and biscuits for appetizers, CRAZY GOOD. The bites had a sauce that was spicy, a touch of sweet, sublime. Those biscuits, if you have a cheat carb day, get these. I have had many versions of shrimp and grits, quite possibly the best I ever had, this dish deserves an award. We barely had room for our catfish filet which was a generous portion and not overcooked, common in southern cooking. I tasted Black America and Africa all at the same time, I cannot wait to try their dinner.

    Lana J.

Food is really good. Pricey but worth it. I HIGHLY recommend you go early. The place is really small so it gets packed fast. You can park in the Ralph's parking lot beside it. Food was yummy. I would definitely go back.

Jollof platter with berbere shrimp + lamb and white bean hummus in the back
    Nicole G.

First off, the vibes in there were immaculate. It's a great place for a date night with dim lighting and great music. The drinks - genuinely superb and so yummy. My bf got the Sentinela Sour and I got the Sobolo Spritz. Drinks came out quickly, so I ended up finishing at least half of my drink before the food came out. I loved the lamb and white bean hummus the most out of everything we got! The flatbread was so soft and was a perfect vehicle for the hummus. The hummus itself was nice and bright from the fresh herbs. I got the Jollof Platter which I would give an 8/10. Without the addition of protein, it's probably a 7/10. The protein makes it a more complete meal and I liked the flavor of the berbere shrimp. The sauces that it came with made the platter more flavorful. The jollof rice itself was ok, I've had some homemade jollof rice that was much better. My boyfriend got the Chilean Seabass which was fine, but small portion. The mains were pretty expensive for what they were so I probs wouldn't get them again. One thing I would get again is the dessert! It ended off our meal nicely. We got a plantain sticky cake with ice cream which is the perfect dessert - with the hot and cold. It was so good! Not crazy sweet, but just enough to hit the craving. I hope I can try their Sunday brunch menu though! That sounds delish.

The Pepper soup was absolutely delicious-- so flavorful, spicy and the goat was tender. And it was a nice portion. The pounded yam was nice--it was like a mashed potato ball, smooth and the perfect neutral canvas for the soup. Next, the Jollof rice with the fish--very tasty, and a generous serving of rice that lasted me up to 3 days and by day 3 the rice was even better (I made chicken to go with it). I truly enjoyed my meal and rated it "I love it!" The funny thing is, I apparently ordered from them a year or so before and didn't have a good food experience so I didn't rate them well--I completely forgot and only realized it when my old bad DD review popped up after I posted my new good one . But everyone deserves another chance and they hit it out the park with that meal. So much so that I ordered from them again the following week and tried the Fufu combo with the mixed meat (cow leg, beef and tripe--I had always seen tripe but never had it) Egusi and the Eba. It was well prepared but the flavor was interesting to me--there were notes of bitterness (from the bitter leaf I presume or maybe the melon seeds?) and the Eba was a bit sour, like Ethiopian injera but stronger in my opinion. I really wanted to like it -- I even tried adding salt -- but I think maybe it's an acquired taste for my personal palate. The beef was a bit tough and the what I think was the cow leg skin was thick, tough and chewy. I've had Jamaican cow foot soup before and the skin was tender so not sure if it's just a different kind of cooking or what ‍. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't my cup of tea but maybe for someone else it's perfect. I'm only sharing my experience for someone who may have never had it and like me was curious, so this is my opinion on it (after all, Yelp is all about the word of mouth). But nothing ventured, nothing gained. Still, I want to try the other items and will always come back to that pepper soup and rice combo! UPDATE on 3/2/26 -- After my review I then got a taste for jollof again. So Yesterday I ordered the Edikanikong too and it was truly delicious!!! So flavorful and fresh! These are some of the best greens I've had! And that's it. Honestly because I ordered from DD so much I mostly do my reviews now there vs here on Yelp, but I felt compelled to share my experience on this spot on this platform too. FYI - I deleted my food photos that I uploaded to DD so I have none to share here.

That meant a lot and shows he does care about his customers. The owner gets 5 stars. The customer service staff and delivery experience gets 1 star. It took a while to get our food, but as the dishes were cooked to order, we didn't mind. The verdict: -- Jollof rice with goat: the goat was decently tender and the jollof rice was nice and chewy, with a spicy kick to it! The more you eat it, the more the heat builds. -- Fufu with light soup: it was my first time trying fufu, and I liked it! Sort of reminded me of a "chewier" mashed potato, and it was a great vessel to dip into the light soup. The light soup was flavorful, but SPICY; it was definitely not light! Chicken inside was tasty and fall-off-the-bone tender. -- Red red: the least-spiciest dish of the trio, and while I enjoyed the crispy, fried, and sweet plantains, the beans were okay, but it wasn't to my taste. Not bad, but not my favorite. Overall, a nice taste of Ghanaian food at Airport Royal Cuisine. Service was nice and courteous. Ghanaian cuisine is certainly flavorful, but beware the spice!!
