    Jumbo Fried Salmon Bites
    Susan J.

This was my first time at this new, 2nd location. You place your order and then wait for your food. There were quite a few people in line in font of me. I ordered at 5:12 PM and my food was ready at 6:22 PM. I ordered the jumbo fries salmon bites + cabbage + mac n cheese. The food tastes good but there was nothing special. It seems like the flavors at the 1st location were better. Parking is/was horrible. I parked in a red zone on the street (only because it was a holiday). There was plenty of space inside to sit and eat. The restaurant was clean inside. Restaurant was in an industrial area.

Man this place is no joke! They have two security guards montoring the area. They are located in gardena in the same lot as 7-11 but in the back area with wing stop. I must tell you the food here is excellent! I got the jeck chicken plate with the mac and cheese, rice\beans and steamed cabbage and this place does it right! The entire entree was amazing and favorful. Just be aware they do FULL jamaican on the weekends sat-sundays and tuesday-fridays is when they have shrimp, steak and fish plates available. Not on the weekends. This location is huge with two sitting area. They have clean his/her bathrooms which is a bonus. Right after i ordered a sea of people started coming in! The pineapple koolaid is delicous, get that. Tevs kitchen got it going on! A definitely MUST visit if you're in the area. I was happy with my entire plate! Good authentic jamaican food here. Food rating: Jerk Chicken 9.0 Mac n and cheese 8.9\10 Rice and cabbage 8.5\10

Tev's Kitchen is a authentic Jamaican restaurant that is located in the city of Gardena, this is his second restaurant. We came here after church for lunch, they open up at 1:00 so we had to wait in a line till staff came out and took everyone order, then we waited to enter a diffrent door fron the people that were dining in, so we had to wait in the same line to pay, there was free mints and purified water with cups as you wait. The staff were all friendy and the food was absolotely mouthwatering plus every minute was worth the wait.

Had a great takeout experience at Tev's Kitchen in Gardena. Parking can be challenging during busy hours (I arrived around 6:45 PM), but the crowd speaks for itself. The atmosphere was lively, with music videos on a giant screen and an authentic Jamaican vibe throughout the spacious dining areas. The service was friendly, attentive, and full of great menu suggestions. The jerk chicken wings and drummettes were outstanding--smoky, slightly sweet, and packed with flavor. The mac and cheese was perfectly balanced, while the cabbage and broccoli were seasoned exceptionally well. The catfish had a crispy exterior with tender, flaky fish inside. The Kool-Aid was a nostalgic treat--sweet with just enough tartness to keep you coming back for more. Expect a wait during peak times, and there are currently no delivery options, but calling ahead for pickup is a good idea. Tev's Kitchen is a great addition to the Gardena community, and I'll definitely be back to try the weekend oxtails and daily ribeye special.

    Ribeye with Mac and cheese

Went in on a whim and I'm so glad I did cause omg this was amazing! I got a side of the ribeye and side of Mac n cheese which is what I originally was going in for cause I saw the pictures on here first and it looked bomb! And it was! Will definitely be coming back for more! The cashier had an amazing personality I just forgot to get her name. Overall i give this place 100/10 for the great customer service and amazing food!

I have tried out both locations and both times they were consistently amazing. The oxtails are my absolute favorite. They're tender and full of flavor, ive had the jerk chicken and the spare ribs. Every meal has been full of flavor and its 100% worth the drive if you're thinking about it. You can tell they take their time with the food and put tons of care into their presentation and plating. I personally like that every plate comes with a drink. They're a tiny bit sweeter than what I usually go for, so the only thing I'd love to see is a few more drink options like sweet tea or a strawberry lemonade but that's just me being picky. haha Both times I went there was a line but like I mentioned before, its worth the wait and the staff does a great job at keeping the line moving. As far as the customer service foes they are always friendly and every time has been a positive experience. There's room to dine there too. So if you're craving some good smacking finger licking Jamaican food, this place definitely delivers. I'd happily keep making the drive back!

Hot Honey Wings, Mac n cheese, broccoli, mashed potatoes, catfish

I absolutely love this place! From the moment you walk in, the service is friendly and welcoming, from entering to ordering to getting your food. You really feel taken care of the whole time. The inside is very spacious with plenty of seating, and I loved the interior. Parking can be a little limited, but there is a lot plus some street parking in the front and on the side, so just keep that in mind. Now the FOOD... I got the hot honey wings over mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and broccoli, plus a side of catfish with cajun garlic butter. Everything was incredibly well seasoned. The catfish was perfectly crispy and flavorful, and the Cajun garlic butter had just the right amount of spice. It complemented it so well. The broccoli was buttery and packed with flavor. I loved that the wings were served on top of the mashed potatoes because the sauce soaked in and made them even better. The mashed potatoes themselves were super buttery with a good amount of pepper, which I personally loved. The wings were crispy with a sweet and slightly spicy sauce that was sooo good. The mac and cheese was creamy and full of flavor too. The meal also came with Kool Aid. It was definitely on the sweeter side, but still really good and a nice touch. Honestly, I loved everything I got and can't wait to come back. Just a heads up, the menu rotates, so make sure to check what they're serving. I believe weekends are Jamaican and Thursdays are pasta, but double check their Instagram.

Some of the best Jamaican food I've ever had. The portions are insane! Top Notch service, Awesome friendly staff and security with great music playing, fits the vibe perfectly.

Tev's Kitchen is worth all of the hype, all of it. I'm glad they put a location closer to me. The portions are great and the food is literally amazing. Definitely comfort food forsure! I was eating on this plate for two day its was so much food. It's a little pricey but I think it's worth it. Definitely not something I'd eat often because it was heavy, but definitely a nice little treat. I got a jerk salmon plate with garlic sauce in the side. I also got mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese, and cabbage. Everything was 10/10. Like finger licking good. The establishment was nice, it gave lounge vibes. I also got koolaid I personally am not a fan of koolaid so I did add a bunch of water because it was super sweet but yes definitely recommend! I advise going right when it opens though because there will be a line.

This area is not familiar to us at all, and we don't normally eat (for us) exotic cuisine. But, we were in the mood to try something new, so we stopped here. It's a colorful, cheerful little place. I think there are only like 4 tables. Apparently, it is mostly takeout. This became evident when our food was "served". We ordered a large two-meat plate and two large fried chicken plates. The two meats were "brown stew chicken" and curry goat. The meat is served in thick savory gravy/sauce. The "plates" are served with rice and fried plantains. The brown stew chicken was good. The curry goat was really good. Here's where the experience really veered sharply from our normal dining experience. The "plates" were served in takeout fold-over boxes with plastic forks. The meat itself was pretty much all adhered to bones. It was tender and delicious, but eating with our hands doesn't come naturally. So, I asked for a knife, and the sweet woman who takes the orders looked at me and said they don't have knives, and that we "just have to dig down into it". Indeed. She did give me a second plastic fork though, which I used. Nice workers. Authentic food. Huge portions. New experience which we all enjoyed.

After craving Jamaican food for what feels like forever, I finally decided to search Yelp on my way…read morehome from working in LA and came across The Taste of the Caribbean in Long Beach - and wow, this hit the spot in a way I've been missing for too long. For context, I've always loved Jamaican food and even have family who make incredible, authentic dishes, but I haven't had anything close to that in a year. So my expectations? High. My craving? Even higher. I ordered the jerk chicken dinner with peas & rice and cabbage medley, and some plantains - to go. First off, the service was amazing. The woman who helped me was genuinely warm and welcoming, and you can tell she cares about what she's serving. When I ordered, she asked if I wanted the jerk sauce on the side and made sure I was okay with the spice level when I said no. That attention to detail matters. The food came out quickly (it was mid-afternoon and not busy), and everything stayed warm all the way home--which is always a win for takeout. Now let's talk about the food: The portion was generous, the flavors were on point, and everything tasted fresh. The jerk chicken had that perfect smoky, spicy kick - exactly what I was hoping for. The rice and peas and cabbage medley were a great balance to the heat, and the plantains were sweet and perfectly cooked. I did notice another review complaining about the spice level being too high... and honestly, I had to laugh a little. Have you had jerk chicken before? It's supposed to be spicy - that's the whole point. Personally, that comment is part of what made me choose this place, and it delivered. If you don't like spice, jerk might not be your thing - but I'm sure there are milder options if you ask. Bonus: they offer online ordering and delivery through Uber Eats and Postmates, which makes it even easier to get your fix. Overall, this place brought back the flavors I've been missing for so long. I'll absolutely be back - and probably sooner rather than later.
