    Pastrami fries
    Leani R.

Decided to finally give this place a try after hearing and seeing it a bit. I've been wanting some good pastrami and people have recommended. I got the regular bacon burger and pastrami chili cheese fries. The burger was a home made thin patty burger but still delicious. The pastrami itself was pretty good! I like the chili and cheese but I do feel like something in it was pretty salty. Down fall is it only excepts cash. So make sure you do carry cash when coming by! It was loud inside and time we went it was a bit busy. I definitely want to try the pastrami burger so will be back.

The best pastrami I have ever had hands down. Was not greasy, was the perfect cut, and service was quick. Not much more you can ask for. The perfect stop on the way to SoFi or Kia Forum. We got pastrami fries and pastrami sandwich

Ample parking in rear. Food is take out only. They do take credit cards and Apple/google pay. Service was great was greeted and helped by a sweet lady named Olivia. Ordered grilled pastrami sandwich xtra yellow peppers. Delish. It wasn't crowded and nice ambiance due to amazing customer service. Great 1st time experience. The sandwich was amazing. Enough for 2 people.

Service was great & the pastrami sandwich was good but portion was smaller than my preferred locations I normally go to for the same price and this location closes earlier than specified on Google Maps & Apple Maps.

Honestly tried for the first time the other day and holy mother of burgers hit the spot, I got a Colossal burger came with pastrami and honestly not stingy at all it was packed with pastrami, also got the chili cheese fries with pastrami they were amazing slightly on the salted side but nothing that was extreme and generous portion on them worth every penny would recommend asking them extra crispy so when you get home they are not as soggy which we did, side of onion rings were top crunchy and delicious also. Recommend calling the order ahead as the waiting area isn't the biggest but overall will be returning

    Chili cheese fries.

They changed the cheese and the chili. It's NOT the same. I drove from Bellflower only to be disappointed. This is the 3rd time changing what works. I am not returning for this very reason. If it isn't broke why fox it. WE NOTICE !! It's the ONLY thing I get!!! I should have known because even the cheese is different.

Much smaller pastrami and hard bread

I have been coming here for years as a Gardena native. The food has always been delicious, but things are changing. I know the cost of everything is up, but to charge about $16 for a SMALL chili cheese fries with pastrami is absurd. Not only are the prices up, but the portion sizes are way down. If we had to pay more, but still got the bigger portions we have become accustomed to, maybe we wouldn't complain as much. The place was already busy, but now that LATryGuy reviewed them on Instagram, the line/wait is beyond long. He blew the spot up. Smh. I've gone twice in the middle of the day, and there's no parking in the small lot or just north of El Segundo on the side street. So, I decided to go early Saturday morning around 10am for my fix. There are no tables or chairs, so dining in isn't an option. All orders to go. Oh yeah, try to bring cash, because if not they'll charge you $1.50. There were only 2 people inside when I arrived. My go-to items are either the chili cheese pastrami burrito, the chili cheese pastrami fries or just the pastrami and onion rings. Today, I ordered the pastrami with grilled meat, added lettuce, and onion rings. I spent $23. Everything is a la carte. There are no combos. I added lettuce, and a side of ranch with my onion rings. Both extra fee. Typically, if you order onion rings somewhere, they'll give you a dip for free. Not here. You want ranch? That'll be $0.91. Ha! They charge you for EVERYTHING. I wanted extra mustard, but was initially afraid to ask for fear that it would be an additional 60 cents. My pastrami was not as good as it has been. The bread was much smaller, there wasn't as much meat, and the onion rings have changed. They're not the ones they used to have. The batter/crust is different and crunchier or something. They were like bigger Burger King onion rings. It's not the same and I won't be breaking my neck to return.

    The overstuffed pastrami sandwich.

This little bag was almost $30. I was so skeptical about the quantity and quality of the contents. The first thing I pulled out was the overstuffed pastrami sandwich. It was dense and heavy. Well worth the price. The Chili cheese fries with Pastrami, OMG! I sat it on my lap, but it was piping hot, and I had to immediately pick it up. Pastrami spilled all over the bag when I opened the box. And it not only looked good, it was delicious! There was only one person in the store when I arrived at about 11:30 a.m. I quickly learned that phone orders is the pro tip. As I waited for my order a steady stream of people picked up thier food, none looked like delivery services. The place is clean, bare bones with no seating. This place has been on my list for a while. It was well worth the detour.

I haven't had a pastrami sandwich since the pandemic, and before that, it had been over 10 years. My go-to has always been Johnny's Pastrami specifically the one on Adams. Honestly, I couldn't even tell you what cut of meat pastrami is, but I just remember the first time I tried it, it was something new, flavorful, and instantly crave-worthy. I lived just up the street from the location and would find myself wanting it almost every day. I also remember a lot of Belizean ladies working the counter, packing the bread full of pastrami. After seeing food influencers hype up Steve's, calling it the best and even better than Johnny's, I had to see for myself. When I arrived, I noticed a line out the door, which made me think, Okay, this place must be legit. I ordered a pastrami sandwich and a small fry to test the waters. Unfortunately, it was underwhelming. The first thing I noticed was how salty it was, overpoweringly salty and on top of that, the sandwich was dry, maybe I should have dipped it. Or and mustard or something. After three bites, all I could taste was salt, and I ended up tossing the rest. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, or maybe it's just not for me, but I won't be back. That said, they clearly have their loyal regulars keeping them in business, so good for them. My fries were good though. Service: good Not really a sit down place Neighborhood gem

It's not crispy well done as I like!

They need some dam etiquette in manners! Rude condescending azz folks! They messed my last order up and I can back and explained to them and let them know I posted my last experience in yelp! The cashier ask me if I wanted friends and I said yeah, crispy tho! I wait; no fries. I ask the cook when I picked up my pastrami order and she basically ignored me! I called her on it and I asked what is going on. Everybody played the role and act like they didn't know what was going on. I can afford some dam fries but when you mess up folks order; I was taught you do some special the next time! I hate when certain folks act like you trying to get over! I could buy fries and everything on that menu if I wanted to. Anyhow; just more reason to patronize ours. Thanks for nothing y'all. Simple communication wouldve resolved this issue! No sweat tho but I am calling y'all out! Y'all could do better than that! Hope this is a wake up call to treat your customers just as respectful when y'all mess up as you do when proudly taking our money!

    Salty pastrami
    Jenny B.

Comparing to The Hat which is 5/5 This place is 2.5 2/5 pastrami priced higher than the hat. Maybe lean but super salty & small in size compared to the hat 2/5 onion rings. Tasted like a cheap commercial brand and not fried correctly. It still had the taste of flour on the inside and it fell apart as you picked it up. 0/5 No place to eat, take out only 0/5 No credit card, cash only. It's just seem the young kids were ordering fries & chili cheese fries.

Still the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. My favorite is the polish sausage one. It's got some spice to it. Loved this place since I was a kid. They also have delicious chilli cheese fries and burgers. Oh and they take card now :) they just don't accept EBT.

Restaurant is very clean and decorated well. There were tons of kids around when we went, none of which were fussy (which no judgment if they are, I get it) but I think that shows how kid-friendly and family-friendly this restaurant is, which isn't very easy to find. Just because of that I would definitely come back. We reserved at the earliest they had open that day (11am) and they were able to hold the spot for half an hour max--it wasn't too crowded yet but already a good amount of people coming in. They also had a shopping event that day so that might also be part of it. When you first walk in, there is a visitor log you sign into and they give you a badge that you return when walking out. It is not a diplomatic four, but an honest one earned by a restaurant that generally understands what it is and occasionally forgets how demanding barbecue can be. The Manhattan Beach location is beautiful. Warm wood, an open kitchen, generous booths and enough energy to feel celebratory without forcing everyone at the table to shout. It manages that increasingly rare balance between a family restaurant and somewhere adults can still enjoy a proper cocktail and an uninterrupted conversation. The service has been less consistent. The host stand can feel oddly transactional, as though seating people is a logistical exercise rather than the beginning of the meal. On this visit, however, our server was excellent. Attentive, thoughtful and genuinely helpful with the menu. The dirty martini and espresso cocktail were both unapologetically strong, which I appreciated. We usually split the baby back ribs and beef ribs, and that remains the right move. The baby backs were tender and glazed without becoming candy. The beef ribs had weight, smoke and enough resistance to remind you that you were eating an actual piece of meat rather than something engineered to collapse on contact. The sides were satisfying, particularly the corn and loaded potato and the entire platter had the abundance you want from this kind of restaurant. Then came the brisket. Our server recommended it over the tri tip, so we added an order. What arrived was astonishingly dry, past merely overcooked and well into cardboard. We tried both sauces, including the cherry sauce, but no amount of glaze could return moisture to meat that had apparently abandoned it hours earlier. Our server handled it graciously and offered to replace it, which saved the experience. Still, a restaurant built around barbecue should never allow brisket in that condition to leave the kitchen. It wasn't a matter of preference. It was simply bad. That one failure doesn't erase several enjoyable meals, nor the ribs, cocktails, room or genuinely excellent server we had this time. Wood Ranch remains an easy place to bring the family, celebrate something or settle into a booth with more meat than anyone reasonably needs. I'll return. I'll order the ribs again. I'll probably leave the brisket to someone braver.
