Dining While Black Food/Service: This place is GOOD and the portions are big enough for you to have leftovers for a day or two. It was worth the money too! Diversity score 1-5: Great spot and It appealed to everyone! Also had some really good looking employees. It wasn't hard to sell us on food and drinks. Environment: Very upbeat, excitedly decorated, wonderful placement of tables indoors and outdoors. I can only imagine how fun it is at night! Go again score 1-5: 5! Definitely would go again!
Had a great lunch at the Local Kitchen. It has been a few weeks since my last visit. Fortunately, food was properly prepared this time. Service was good as always. I wish the soup temperature was more consistent. Sometimes it's scalding hot and other times it's lukewarm. They've got to get this improved. The soup is much better when it's hot, FYI. It gets busy here with locals during lunch mid-week. The fish sandwich was fried cod and it was pretty tasty with the aioli. Overall, it was good value for the money and time.
Hubbers, GodNiece and Indexided to walk off a fantabulous dinner nearby and decided to make a stop somewhere for a night cap. Hubbers suggested this place. What impressed me about this place? They're about 20 minutes away from last call, prolly less than an hour from closure and yet they were still packed! So it's safe to say they're popular! We got lucky and found seating in the bar area right next to the windows. Staff knew there was a cool breeze coming in and we were probably transparent about looking cold, so they took it upon themselves to close them. We each ordered a drink, watched the live Dodger game, heard the "last call" announcement. We didn't feel rushed at all, though, and our server was so nice and welcoming. Oh. Our drinks were great, by the way. I intend to find out why they're popular. Will do a dine-in run next time.
Ordered Local Kitchen for take out. We got their Philly cheesesteak and Tuscan sea bass with an extra order of fries because you can never have enough fries right? Visually it looked so good so we were excited to have them. Overall the foods tasted decent. The fish plate was a bit in the oilier side. The sandwich, the meat was not as tender as we liked. Fries were a bit disappointing because they were very oily tasting. As if they used old oil or as if the fries were sitting out for a long time. We were really hoping to like this place but maybe we caught them on an off day? Or maybe it's better to dine in there instead of doing take out
The ambiance is pretty casual and the service is good, but the food isn't anything to rave about. The brussels sprouts tasted good though were soggy/drenched in the oily sauce. The calamari was average. The meatloaf tower was kind of odd-- I guess I'd prefer a thicker slice of meatloaf than a thin slice over soggy bread. The chicken was the best thing we ordered but still nothing special. I think I'd try different items on the menu next time or just stick to having a drink.
Had breakfast for the first time here today and I have to say, I really liked it. I had the breakfast combo and my guy had the steak and eggs. Delicious! Service was good and I loved sitting outside on the sidewalk seating. Great people watching in Old Torrance. I would definitely come back for breakfast or lunch.
Was out for a late lunch hunt today and found this place on Yelp. Located in downtown Torrance, this place seemed to be a favorite of locals. The Torrance Antique Street Faire was being held so street parking was a little tricky but there is public parking located on one of the buildings nearby. The place was pretty packed considering it was close to 2pm. Wait time we were given was 55 minutes but took only about 30, which is great. The staff were friendly and seemed to know the frequent patrons. Or server Laura was nice and gave us recommendations. The menu list was long and so we took her advise - to go with our first choice coz everything is really good you can't go wrong. She was 100% right. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The price was right for the generous servings that they serve. Loved the decor inside as well. We'll be back for sure!
The fine folks at Local Kitchen offer great service in a comfortable and inviting atmosphere, along with plenty of delicious appetizers and entrees. I enjoyed my order of the Smokehouse BBQ Wings and Bacon Double Cheeseburger. The tater tots were hot and crunchy. I washed this all down with a 22 of Smog City Sabre-Toothed Squirrel. It was a wonderful evening. I'm looking forward to coming back.
Came here with a friend, because he wanted happy hour. When I first walked in and passed by the waiting counter; no one noticed there i was passing by. I had a sculpin iPa but the beer tasted flat. I dont know, if the keg was old or they just didn't clean the beer lines. Once, I sat down at the bar; it took the bar tender few minutes to help me. If you want good cheap drinks during happy hour then this is the place. Service: could be better Drinks: 4/10 Ambiance: 5/10
I came here with a group of 9 on a Wednesday night. We were seated pretty quickly. There's plenty of free street parking in the area, at least on a weekday night. Thank you to our waitress for dealing with our large and kind of loud group all night. I didn't catch her name but she was amazing and held down the fort. I personally got the rigatoni bolognese (I took the photo after I took a few bites) and it was delicious. I felt like I ate a lot but it looked like I barely made a dent. We also ordered a bunch of starters Warning, all the portions are HUGE. We ordered about 4 starters and were in shock when the plates came out. Great place and will definitely return

Local kitchen has such a homey feel to it. I like it! if there's one item i recommend, it's the load tots. funny thing, it was actually recommended to me by some colleagues. the portion itself is massive and could feed 3-4 people as an appetizer. my patty melt was pretty good too! the parmesan crust was a nice touch, but a bit heavy. I would share this the next time I order it. Parking can be found on the streets.

Local Kitchen is a great place to have drinks after work or a great meal. They have a full bar and can make you anything you want, the bartenders are great. But we love to eat there. The place is so comfortable and clean. It is not loud like a standard bar and there are places to sit that are super quiet. The service is super nice. They will take goo care of you. I love the music they play. I am so sick of elevator music and they don't do that. I really enjoy that. All of their food is great, but I am hooked on their salads. Their Sartori Caesar is one of my favorites. It has super fresh crisp romaine hearts with freshly grated parmesan cheese, sourdough croutons and house-made Caesar dressing. I love the dressing. Their Big Newport Wedge is better than most is has the best iceberg wedge topped with applewood smoked bacon, balsamic red onion, tomato and a great blue cheese dressing. All the food is great and we eat more than just salad, but their salad is a stand out. read more

My husband and I went here for a lunch date and to catch the Rams vs. Seahawks game, and we had such a wonderful experience. We prefer the bar area as sometimes we like to stand while watching the game. I was craving a blueberry martini, and our waitress, Melissa, was incredibly sweet--she offered to ask the bartender if they could make one for me, and it turned out perfect. So delicious and exactly what I wanted! For lunch, we had the chips and guacamole.. my husband ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich with a house garden salad, and wow--the salad was surprisingly amazing. I went with the Union Club sandwich and fries, and everything was so tasty and the portions were huge. We both ended up taking leftovers home. We also shared the pound cake for dessert, and it was massive, super moist, and absolutely delicious. We ordered another to go for our daughter to try. Lol it was such a great treat to end the meal. This spot is perfect for watching the game, grabbing lunch, dates or enjoying a casual family meal. And I have to mention the music--loved it! They played a fun mix of R&B, 90s hits, and even a few oldies. We're already planning to come back next week, lol! read more

My friends and I went to Local Kitchen as it is a great option for groups with kids in the area. I haven't explored Old Town Torrance at all but it's a cute area of the Bay! They sat our group of 14 right by the door and it was a great booth to wrangle all the children in. We ordered beers, ate heartily and our server paid great attention to us the entire time. I had the cheesy eggs and avocado toast which was huge & I absolutely loved being able to get breakfast at dinner. It somehow felt light to balance the drinks haha! Beautiful Tavern located in old Torrance. We called ahead and asked if they were crowded. The manager said for how many? I said 2. He texted me back right away and got a reservation for 2 hours later. Pretty spiffy. The menus came quick after being seated. We ordered the Red's Chipotle Barbeque Chicken Salad. We split it. We knew it would be huge. And it was. Great flavor too. The best salad I have ever eaten. Great ranch dressing and barbeque sauce to pour on your salad. Oh also ordered a iced tea. read more

I usually hate chicken and waffles because every where you go they give you a Belgian waffle and frozen chicken tenders. But at local kitchen that's not the case! You can taste the herbs and seasoning in the fresh chicken and the waffle is fluffy. The portion is big enough to share as well. The best ever! read more

Got an invite from a former colleague to meet-up in Torrance Old Town district's Local Kitchen for a 2p late lunch and 5 of us showed up. My first time here and to my surprise, it was as welcoming as welcoming can get! I wasn't that hungry and was recommended having their Calamari with a side dish of French fries. It turned out to be juicy and scrumptious. I didn't get to see and feel the rest of the restaurant, since we sat in a booth close to the entrance. But I can see it's a neighborhood favorite with all the foot traffic coming in. Parking on the street has a 2-hour limit and turn over is steady. Will go again! read more
My friends and I visited for the first time this week. It's more spacious inside than it appears to be when you first walk up. The waitress Melanie was sweet and helpful throughout service. She was also knowledgeable about the menu. We had Brussels sprouts, spinach dip with chips, fish tacos, blackened salmon salad and a burger. Everytable was tasty! Surprisingly this outing was planned by the hubby who is NOT a fan of meatloaf... needless to say that is what lured him here! I think we got lucky and found very quick parking in the front, there wasn't a wait time so we were seated right away, customer service was good, food was great. We both had the meatloaf and our daughter had the shrimp pasta. We shared some Brussel sprouts that were also delicious. It is a very loud ambiance, we would also like to come back for drinks, seems they have a tasty menu. read more
Local Kitchen has something for everyone. Located in Old Town Torrance, my friend and I had no trouble finding parking nearby and getting a table on a weeknight. There's a large bar where you can enjoy happy hour, and plenty of tv's throughout for any sports game you might want to catch. Our server was very friendly and warm. Portions are HUGE. I had the Crispy Chicken Bellagio. It's served with asparagus tucked under the chicken like a little blanket on a bed of mashed potatoes. The chicken was perfectly crisped without becoming dry and the mashed potatoes were full of flavor. I'll have to come back for their weekend brunch but they do offer an all day breakfast menu as well. read more

We were visiting from out of town and decided to try Local Kitchen. The service was great. We were seated right away even on a busy Saturday night. The restaurant was very lively and had a fun vibe. We ordered the a couple drinks, the buffalo chicken sandwich, a side Caesar salad, and the sausage and ricotta pasta. Everything came out in a timely manner. The portions are huge!!! My husband and I easily could have split the pasta. The side salad was also very splittable. My only complaint is that the pasta was a bit bland! We liked everything else, but the cheese toast that came with it was the best part of the pasta. Next time I'd get a burger or sandwich. read more
Don't be indecisive! Every single thing on the menu looks absolutely incredible. It is very difficult to choose! I finally decided on Blackened Salmon Panzanella (from their menu: Pacific salmon, mixed baby greens, house bread bites, green apple, dried cranberry, glazed pecans, house-made balsamic vinaigrette.) which was soooooo f^cking good. My friend had some kind of sliced fried chicken on top of an equally pretty salad. We split an order of tater tots with ranch dressing that tasted fresh and house made. The service (Jacob) was excellent. Friendly and attentive. I want to come back soon to start working my way through this menu! read more

Is this a Nice enough place for a Women's birthdays?
It's a cozy place for locals. If you're looking for a turn up. This isn't it. If you just want a nice lunch/dinner with friends. This is a good place to go. The menu is more home cooked type meals.

just give it to your server and they will use it as credit. I recently used mine and it was super easy

As of two weeks ago, they were not offering happy hour yet.

Get there early and there should be no problem. We sat inside last time. No reservations.

Yes they have take out available during the entirety of operation

Yes they do! They bring water too!!! Great service and the owner is super! Have fun!
Are the busy enough to require a reservation for 2 on a Saturday night?
I've never had a problem getting a seat any time of the day.
Does it get busy and difficult to get a table for a large group on a weeknight?
I have called ahead in the past to see what the wait is like. Sometimes they have held a table for me when I have told them that I am on my way. Earlier in the night I'd also a lot easier.
If I had a large group of 12 for weekday lunch would they take reservation?
I'm not sure sorry
How many wings come per order?
I wanna say seven but I could be wrong, they're delicious though. Definitely recommend them!
