Came here to support my colleagues boyfriend on his first time being a DJ and had a great time!! I walked into an empty bar but it was to my advantage since I was able to choose my seat. The DJ started up and the music was jamming. The bar tenders were great hostesses and one of them even let me taste one of her signature drinks. They have a large selection of different types of alcohol so you should be able to get more than what you would at any other bar. The crowd was mixed and was decent given the fact that the weekend before it was rumored that someone had been stabbed there.

My friend brought us here for a girls night out on a Saturday. She had this brilliant idea to come here at 9pm to get parking. We got parking. The place was dead. Things didn't "pick up" until around 11pm. Once it did get picked up....it was disappointing. The general age here seemed like 21 (and some of them looked like they're from high school). It was not cool. Especially when you're gettin' HIT-UP by 21 year-old boys. We scurried on out of there by 12:30am. Our bartender Alicia (big KUDOS) was the saving grace. The drinks are cheap (under $10) and good. However both Georgia Peach and the White Gummy Bear were a bit sweet.

Based on what this place looks like from the outside, I was expecting a dive bar. This place is anything but divey! Not that there is anything wrong with dive bars. But sometimes it nice to get a drink at a clean, classy place. That is, clean, classy, with animal heads on the walls! The bouncers mean business in the place so ladies, don't be sneaking in to use the men's room just because the ladies room has a line. We saw many gals try to pull this and big boy came after them! And they couldn't even flirt their way out of it! hahaha No cover, pool table, dance floor, full bar. 2 drink minimum when you purchase with a credit card. ...except I was the DD so I hung out and watched as friends had a Torrance Threesome: http://su.pr/2HgwUa ;) Cheers to Ciara G. for introducing me to this cool place in my hometown!

Cool little bar with a small dance floor. When my friend and I 1st arrived it wasn't packed but about an hr later that place was crackin'. It got packed very fast, they had two TV's in front of the bar. The place has a small dance floor and one pool table. I liked the ambience a lot, they had a DJ playing some good music I was really vibing the place until my friend and I got the bill. Good lord was that place pricey! (This was a reminder why I prefer going to hole in the wall places, little dive bars with less expensive drinks). If the drinks weren't that expensive it would be a perfect weekly hangout.

Cool bar to have drinks with friends. On arrival, the bar was empty but that quickly turned around as the night went on. The cocktails are decent and reasonable in cost. I was impressed by the Mezcal Mules. Good stuff! If you check in on Yelp, you're also given a free shot. No complaints to free alcohol. The shot was decent enough to order more of which I did for the birthday girls. In addition, the music was pretty good. Lots of drinks and good music equals dancing...lots and lots of dancing haha. If you're in the area and are looking to get out for some late night drinks, Southland is worth checking out. Drinks 12/30/2016

Ask the Community - Southland Bar

Is there a foosball table there? active play?

What kind of music do they play here on Fridays and on Saturdays?

It was mostly 90s and 2000s hip hop and R&B, fyi the DJ cant mix for shit! lol

Did ownership change? I noticed signage has change and they closed up one of the windows.

Yes new owners , whom are very friendly and helpful . I've been here many times and will keep coming back to this place because of the new owner.

I got to visit Keegan's again recently when a friend was visiting from out of town. We had just grabbed dinner and boba and headed out here to hang out for Saturday night. We came close to 10pm and there was a bouncer at the door checking everyone's IDs. The place was relatively packed with several different celebrations and birthdays in their outdoor area that has all the fire pits. They had waiters coming around the outside tables but one could also go straight to the bar to place drink orders. There were several tvs around the bar area and I spotted a pool area towards the back of the outside area. Most of the fire pits seating was taken by large parties but there were some smaller tables, that my friend and I were able to sit at. We didn't get any food but I got to try my old favorite Lemon Drop - which was a nice, refreshing sweet treat for a Saturday night. I did quickly scan the food menu and it's a lot of traditional bar food like burgers and fries. The music for the night consisted of old school rap songs from the 2000s. It seemed perfectly catered to the crowd for the night that seemed to consist of folks in their 30s and a few folks in their early 40s. Overall visiting here took me back to when my friend celebrated her birthday. It's an overall chill spot . The crowd wasn't overly loud or rowdy and everyone was just out enjoying a Saturday night.

The interior is neat and clean. There are various types of seating (bar; table; booth; high-tops; communal), and plenty of screens to watch sports. On this occasion, I ordered the Tavern Fish & Chips ($22). It is described as "Alaskan cod coated in a tempura beer batter and served with French fries, tartar sauce and yuzu herb coleslaw". The positives of this dish are that it was prepared well. Both the fish and chips tasted good. The presentation was also nice; which leads to the coleslaw: The coleslaw tasted good, too; but I was surprised the serving was so spare. It's almost as if it was served just to optically balance the presentation in the basket. (See photo shared,) And while the price was not unreasonable, feel it's creeping towards expensive (relative to serving size). I'll attribute this to rising input costs. Staffing might be an issue during the lunchtime service. Service was okay, but they seemed to be understaffed. It's possible that most of their business is done after 5pm.

The chicken was all cut up not a whole chicken breast which I should have seen as a red flag. But I tried to enjoy it, thinking positive and enjoy my night. I finished the beer and ordered a small beer but I started feeling really dizzy during this time. And not from drinking. If you've ever been roofied you know this exact feeling. Things are moving slower. You're spinning. You don't have full control. And you could pass out at any second. Thankfully I got home but it continued in a shower I took to try and wake up, but that didn't work. On my sofa I passed out. And woke up the next day still not feeling good. Still needing to lay down and needing more sleep. Another night passed where I slept early. Like I was knocked out. And today, Friday I finally felt like it was all out of my system. And this all happened because I went to Slip. This is not a fluke. It was not an accident. It happened to me and it can happen to you too. It can happen anywhere maybe, or maybe not. But what's for sure is it happened to me there. If you're with Slip and you're reading this, do not try and make me an offer to return. I won't. Ever.
