3 stars for the Tiki bar decor, atmosphere and vibe. Food and drinks were overpriced!! Speaking of drinks, our drinks were not strong. Very watered down. Service was good however. I won't be back .

Incredible, immersive decor and fantastic location along the Manhattan Beach pier. Review is mainly for the drinks, which were overly sweet and weren't as balanced as at the drinks at the best tiki bars (e.g., Strongwater) - though it may have just been an off night. Food was solid though not standout. Friendly and attentive service.

I went on a date here with my boyfriend, we had a reservation at 5pm. Arrived early to check in and was seated by 5pm. When we were seated we did not receive service for 15 minutes until we contacted a host about this issue, immediately he resolved this and got us our server. The drinks are tasty, the food was good. I was kind of expecting an edamame to be on the menu as an appetizer, might be a nice addition to add because the menu felt like it was missing some things. My sole whip drink was perfectly frozen and stayed cold long a the perfect consistency. The indoor dining room is decorated nicely. I wish the service was better in the beginning of our time here, we ended up having to extend our parking time due to the delay. I do appreciate the staff taking attention to our concern when we expressed our concerns, they were apologetic.

The most gorgeous interior. I really want to make a reservation next time, because I didn't get lucky with interior seating. We had three cocktails. Our first two were better and more balanced (ube your thirst & jet pilot). At $16, the last one (fisherman's son) my boyfriend got was disappointing. The huli huli chicken was tasty.

I came with my partner for our anniversary dinner on 4/19/26. The experience was a 10/10 from start to finish. Host staff was attentive and friendly, and our Server was professional and knowledgeable on the menu. I wish I remembered her name! We sat in the corner 2top facing the bar. The bartender was also friendly and recommended the Navy Grog! The indoor decor is breathtaking. There is intention in every detail and we felt transported to Hawaii. It is so difficult for a restaurant to hit every mark, food, ambiance and service, but these guys have it down! Can't wait to go back to try the rest of the menu :)

Another fantastic experience at Tiki Kai! The boy and I had 4pm dinner reservations yesterday and were seated at a high top right across the middle of the magnificent bar; perfect seats and another time being serviced by the amazing Kelly who is super helpful, kind and super attentive. The boy ordered a virgin Wavemaker (Blue Hawaii) and I had a Navy Grog and Revenant (my go-to even if more of a Speakeasy drink but amazing). Great drinks and as always, incredible replenishment of water and we drink a lot of water! For dinner, we shared the crispy rice with spicy tuna appetizer ($23 and awesome) and the Oahu Burger ($19) with fermented gochu aioli & grilled pineapple on a brioche bun. We ordered the burger rare and it was really, really good. The boy and I felt there could have been a little more pineapple and gochu aioli on it but it was freakin delicious all the same. Maybe make sure to ask for extra aioli. We certainly had enough to eat but maybe I could have used a french fry or two also...the burger does not come with them. Burgers need fries, amiright? The staff was amazing as mentioned and even the manager Ronnie remembered us from prior visits (I mean, I was wearing a Fez so...) and Raphael was awesome. Long live the amazing Tiki Kai!

A poor experience turned AMAZING! I must say the customer service here is impeccable. The food and the drinks are absolutely delicious. I will definitely be coming back here. The Pupu platter is incredible and a wonderful surprise - crispy rice and spicy tuna, crab wonton, sticky ribs , bbq chicken, crispy shrimp. Soooo delicious. Breakfast burritos on point with their side aioli, too! I don't have a bad thing to say. Do yourself a favor and try Tiki Kai!

First off, make a reservation. It was packed when we arrived. We waited maybe 20ish minutes after we checked in for our reservation. We had a lovely outdoor table. The decorations are nice and the inside is crazy cool. Next time I'll request inside seating. Food was outstanding. We ordered the appetizer sampler with 3 options, the garlic noodles, and the pork chop. For the 3 "pupus" we got crispy rice (YUM) sticky ribs (YUMM) and firecracker shrimp (YUUMM) I could eat the whole thing by myself. I might actually next time I go. Order the Dole Whip and the Puca Punch for a good time.

The tiki decor and ambiance is just gorgeous. Modern but with vintage flair. We all commented on how dark tiki places typically are but Tiki Kai had nice warm gold and orange tinted lighting. We could actually see the menu! We went for brunch. The macadamia nut pancakes were insanely delicious! The Tuna bowl was fresh but just ok. Could have used some side sauce options like they add to poke bowls. All our drinks were outstanding! I had the Ghost Ship, my friends had the Jet Pilot, Lychee Martini and the OG Mai Tai. I'd recommend them all!! Last but not least, the staff! Super friendly and kind. You can tell they really cares that we had a good experience. It was a great experience.

The ambiance is very cool with fabulous decor. Our server Savannah was really sweet and provided good service. Their giant tiki drink "mates and crew" is delicious and perfectly balanced between alcohol and flavor. Food however is not great. While the octopus was tender, the hummus was gritty and watery and the seasoning just wasn't there. I've had something similar at other restaurants, but Tiki Kai missed the mark. The rice lacks flavor other than a cheap butter substitute, this felt as though it had been boxed. The fries were good, but fries are difficult to get wrong. I think this is a good place for drinks and vibes, get dinner before elsewhere.

This is a fun tiki place :) It's new, it's got good food and drink. A must visit if you're in Hermosa Beach. First thing, book a reservation online. This is a very popular spot already. So... book ahead. The service was attentive, professional, and courteous. So be kind back to them, please. The obvious main draw are the Tiki Drinks and if you booked ahead like I mentioned-- you will have some creatively presented drinks for you to order. It makes the occasion that much more fun in an instant :). The food is actually really good too which is a welcomed surprise. Not all tiki places serve food, let alone solid bites. Tiki Kai arguably makes you wonder which is better-- the food or the drinks? The space indoors is a little cramped but it works. There is also a lot of outdoor seating which is perfect for a nice way to cap off the day by the beach. I would recommend coming here; especially if you haven't tried this place already. Again, book ahead-- cuz it is very crowded and there is practically no seating if you didn't book ahead. The vibe though otherwise is pleasantly fun and light throughout our experience. For the seasoned Tiki people: Tiki shirt attire is obviously welcome! Let everyone know you're a seasoned alcoholic ;) . The drinks here compared to many are good, not amazing, but a better than most lets put it that way. The Navy Grog is my recommendation. Cheers Tiki Kai!

Great tiki bar right on Hermosa pier. It's a great spot for tiki cocktails and food. I had the octopus with hummus that was braised well and didn't have the rubbery texture at all. My friends enjoyed garlic noodles with chicken addon and the yuca fries with yuzu aioli was a table favorite. The staff was very attentive and nice and helpful in suggestions. The tiki themed spot is neat and unique especially compared to the other venues on the pier. It has a nice tiki interior aesthetic and vibes.

I love Tiki Kai! It truly transports you to Hawaii. If I close my eyes and take a bite of the Mai Mai I'm feel like I'm sitting on the beach in Maui. And don't forget the purple potatoes it comes with. So delicious! Also you must try to Baked Alaskan. I think about it all the time. It is so delicious and comes with passion fruit ice cream under neath it. Drinks also 10/10. Service was incredible and so helpful deciding what we should order for our large party. I thought I would be dissatisfied sitting outside rather than inside, but sitting at the fireplace outside in a little Cove area was very fun with a large party. Highly recommend.

No mint on top, zero lime flavor, but a cherry on an umbrella. I literally took one sip and pushed the glass back to the edge of the bar. Not one bartender or bar back came to check on my party after sitting our drinks down. After about twenty minutes of being ignored someone came and grabbed my husbands empty glass but left my completely full glass sitting on the bar mat. Another ten minutes or so of still not being checked on and we finally decided to leave. I'm out the twelve bucks for my drink but I consider it a twelve dollar lesson in not coming back here again. Sadly, the only reason we chose to get drinks at this bar was because I insisted I wanted a drink before heading home.

And Hubbers suggested this place for a late-ish lunch because he's been here before and had a positive experience. Outdoor seating only since we had the furballs. We had our choice of where since we were the only customers on a late lunch hour. Servers were so patient with our pups (even when they were moody - my apologies!) and were even nice enough to bring them water bowls! It was a cool and cloudy day, but that didn't damper anything. In fact, we appreciated it coming off the heat wave from the last couple of weeks! Everything on their menu looked so good, it took me awhile to decide. But Hubbers and I agreed on the Kayak Tide Tray (+4 extra oysters) and the charred watermelon salad. In the meanwhile, I battled between lobster pasta and five dragon pastrami. (The pasta won out.) Hubbers went for the cedar planked Ora king salmon. And a couple of cocktails to wash it all down! KAYAK TIDE TRAY: The seasoned scallops were my favorites, hands down. The sauce was fantastic and didn't overpower the scallops' main essence. The oysters were shucked fresh and the sauces elevated the flavors a bit. Shrimps were chilled tender and had a nice chew. Cocktail sauce added flavor. The mussels? Sad to say, but half of them were served still frozen hard. So we took our time with it and let it thaw out which didn't happen until we were halfway our meal. Overall: excellent. CHARRED WATERMELON: This plate was so well put together! And not only is it pleasing to the eyes (nice touch with the micros!), it was the same with the palate. Watermelon was fresh. Charred only on one side (I'm curious what it would be like if they charred ALL the sides - will make this request - only if possible - next time!) Taking bites from each component of this salad makes all the difference: the acidity of the tomatoes are tempered by the burrata and the cucumbers, and the freshness of the watermelon makes it all refreshing. The onions added a bit of tart, as did the pomegranates. Didn't notice any macadamia nuts, but no matter! This is a must have! LOBSTER PASTA: Didn't happen... see below. LOBSTER ROLL: Served along with Hubbers' salmon plate (more on that later.) We had a different server at this point (our first one told us he was going on his break.) I thought Hubbers put in an order of this too, so I moved the plate to his side. Our server noticed this and said, "Are you sharing? Would you like an extra plate?" Hubbers confirmed he didn't other this. And that neither did I, but we are waiting on the lobster pasta. He then explained they are out of that dish, "was this not related to you?" Long story short, I told him I'd take the roll, no biggie. He offered to comp it, and if I like, I can put in another order. So I went for the pastrami. And as we waited for that, Hubbers and I split this and WOW. Bread was toasted and buttered perfect, generous with the amount of lobster, plating was a delight to the eyes, and overall delicious. I appreciated the aroma of the tarragon. Yum! FIVE DRAGON PASTRAMI: This is a generous serving, plenty to share with another. Lots of flavors with each bite but the well-seasoned and flavored pastrami dominates them all. The slaw was strong but the subtleness of the lappi balanced it out. Sourdough was perfectly toasted. I thought about not ordering this since I knew the lobster roll might have been enough, but I'm sure glad I went for it! Delish! Hubbers let me have a couple of bites off his salmon plate and O.M.G.!!! He sure picked a good one! Skin was seasoned crispy and the fish was so moist! This is probably one of the best versions of salmon I've had. (For the record, I rarely order anything salmon since 90-95% of the time, they're served dry, but this one here, I'd highly recommend.) FOOD: 4.75. SERVICE: 5. They were AMAZING!!! VALUE: 4. Given the location, pricing is understandable. But worth it. PARKING: Street/Structure only. All metered. And getting here will require a bit of a walk depending on where you parked. OVERALL: 4.5. Plans on coming back here with more people is now in the works. Looking forward to doing that soon!

That was probably my favorite part honestly. We ordered the Tiki Diablo, which is a large tiki drink with a flaming volcano. And yes it does have an interactive element. It was really good. Very fruity and strong, but not overly so. Service was excellent. Our waitress was on it and even waited to make sure my husband was back from the bathroom before lighting our drink on fire. We didn't try any food this time, but a lot of people were ordering the Hawaiian pizza. Do with that what you may. Will definitely be back ti try more drinks and food. We attended a special Chartreuse tasting event at Strong Water which was being held in honor of…read moreChartreuse week and Chartreuse Day 1605 (May 16), the annual celebration of Chartreuse's origins and history. The tasting featured a great lineup of green and yellow Chartreuse paired with small bites. It concluded with a complementary Chartreuse-based cocktail from one of five recipes. Brand ambassador Taylor guided the event and began by telling us about the unique history of Chartreuse. The tasting started out with a small spoonful of Vegetal Elixir Chartreuse to warm up the palate. This is the base spirit of both green and yellow Chartreuse and clocks in at 138 proof. It was surprisingly not harsh, but immediately kicked my salivary glands into overdrive. I didn't even know that vintages of Chartreuse was a thing, but Taylor walked us through tasting three different vintages of both yellow and green Chartreuse, and it was surprising how different they were. The lineup concluded with more rare varietals of the green elixir 1605 and yellow cuvee. Great job, thanks Taylor! Chef Kling presented each small bite which included a crispy Icelandic cod, a roasted beet crostino, and a lamb slider. All of them had a five star list of ingredients and were delicious. Strong Water is known for their excellent cocktails, but their food is also great. For my cocktail at the end of the event, I had the Bar Flower (Green Chartreuse, Crème de Cacao, Pineapple, Lime). This was so good, with the herbal and chocolate flavors perfectly balanced. It was served with a flaming lime half. This was such a great event! Chartreuse retails for around $100 a bottle, and the higher-end varieties cost even more. At just $45 per person, this event was an amazing bargain. Strong Water frequently hosts great events, so keep an eye on their social media for upcoming dates. I really love Chartreuse, so I went back a few days later on the last day of Chartreuse week to try a few of the other limited time cocktails. I started out with their twist on a Grasshopper (Chartreuse, Crème de Menthe, Chili Liqueur, Crème de Cacao, Cream, Cane, $22). This was a great classic Grasshopper, but the Chartreuse added a herbal complexity, and there is a dash of heat on the finish from the chili liqueur. Next I had the Flare Gun (Yellow Chartreuse, Overproof Rum, Italian Bitter, Lime, Cane, $20). The yellow Chartreuse definitely comes through, but it's softer and has a light sweetness, unlike the green variety. Even though it contains overproof rum, it is perfectly balanced and not boozy at all. I usually don't like bitter drinks, but the bitterness was at a perfect light level. I finished off with the Tales from the Black Lagoon which is my favorite drink here, and it's also a favorite of many of the bartenders. All three cocktails were a home run. Chartreuse is an expensive spirit, so those drinks cost a little more than average. Shout out to Karen, Joey, Edgar, Jordan, and Ying for excellent hospitality, as always. Strong Water is our favorite place. We can't wait to go back!
